Re: Poll: Ghost of Tsushima Released One Year Ago Today - What Review Score Would You Give It Now?

Ward_ting

@MakersMark You don’t need hovercrafts and spaceships to make something exciting or less repetitive. There is so much more that could have been done with that setting that wasn’t. So many different character interactions and quests that could have existed that weren’t simply go to A. wipe out this mongol camp. Go to B. wipe out this mongol camp. The world was not living and breathing. It was empty. If you are happy with those sort of quests and get a lot of enjoyment out of it then that’s great, but you can’t shut people down for wanting a little bit of variety in a game. Most games have repetitive elements but there’s something in how they are executed that can distract from the repetitive nature of the game. GoT for me wasn’t able to distract me from it and so I found it a bit of a slog. That being said, I did get the platinum and I did enjoy Legends. I can see why people might give it a 9 or 10 but I can also see why some people might give it sub 8 and that’s fine.

I have no doubt if a sequel came they would totally flesh out the world and build on what they created and I would totally jump on that in a heartbeat.

Re: Greedfall PS5 Version Out Next Week Along with Big Expansion

Ward_ting

Ahh I got quite far into this and then Returnal took over and I haven’t gone back to it. It was a bit janky so I might go back with a PS5 upgrade! It’s been an ok game, it’s a little repetitive and I found it a bit annoying doing a quest and going back to speak to someone to then have go back out to rinse and repeat... but be intrigued to see how it looks

Re: Mini Review: Metro Exodus (PS5) – A Greatly Improved Version of a Pretty Awesome Game

Ward_ting

I’m absolutely loving this game. It’s really very fun. There are some frustrating elements already mentioned; busted AI, poor jumping mechanics, and most infuriating for me is a bug on Caspian Sea where I can’t proceed any further because Damir just stands there idle doing nothing when he should be boosting my arse up into a cave. But all that aside I’m having a blast

Re: Weird PS5 Game Abandoned Delays Trailer App to Friday

Ward_ting

@Bagwag82 I’ve seen some stuff on Reddit and just various stuff on Twitter. It’s all quite possibly just speculation at this point.

The Reddit posts I’ve seen refer to a supposed leak, but that suggest the date is 28th June.

Sony have also recently filed a Trademark Application for PSX (PlayStation Experience) possibly alluding to a big PlayStation event incoming.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/np3cyt/a_new_playstation_experience_appears_to_be/

Edit: there’s also the rumour of 8th July so at this point just pick any Thursday in the coming weeks and hope there’s an event 😂

Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5, PS4 Game of 2021 So Far?

Ward_ting

Haven’t got Ratchet yet but have no doubt it would on my list if I had it!

1. Returnal
2. Disco Elysium
3. It Takes Two

I enjoyed RE Village a lot but it just lacked some heart or something, that I felt my top 3 had.

I am LOVING Metro Exodus PS5 upgrade and probably would have had that if it was available for selection.

Re: Weird PS5 Game Abandoned Delays Trailer App to Friday

Been hearing some murmurings of a potential Sony event this Thursday and if that is the case that could be the true reason behind the delay. Also a good time to announce A Plagues Tale PS5 upgrade for PS+

Been finding this whole Blue Box situation very entertaining and I don’t necessarily care how it turns out. It’s bizarre enough to actually amount to something so will just watch with popcorn and enjoy!

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

Ward_ting

The show wasn’t too great IMO. The best looking games were all multi plat, and the majority of exclusives they did have were either vague or mostly cgi, with the exception of Forza and Halo which I don’t care for. It was however a fantastic advertisement for Game pass. Those day 1 inclusions are pretty tasty.

I do wonder how sustainable it is for Microsoft and the game developers to continue offering brand new releases on game pass. Will be interesting to see what Sonys response is to this, if any at all. I still feel there are not any exclusives that come even close to Sony at the moment so I’m definitely not tempted to go over to Xbox, but I can totally see the appeal.

Re: PS5 Architect Mark Cerny Adds Returnal's Platinum to His Collection of Prestigious Pots

@WYRMWOOD23 ergh, Crimson Wastes was the worst for me. I was stuck on 19/20 for ages! I recommend speed running all the way through the desert and jump in the portal that takes you close to the boss and then work your way backwards. The last cipher for me was in an outdoor space with one of those shootable platforms you can only see with the visor. The room was rare and only ever popped for me once. If you work your way backwards and end up too far in without any sign of the cipher then you can then restart your cycle again.

The platinum was tedious by the end due to rng but still a fantastic game.

Edit: just saw you got the last one so ignore this! Congrats!

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Comparison Shows Improvements Over Zero Dawn

Ward_ting

@fR_eeBritney it’s supposed to be set 6 months after the first game but it is definitely the same Aloy and not another. The fact she is still called Aloy is enough to confirm that as it was the name given by the Nora. The chance of there being another clone with the same name is pretty slim. Also Erind and Sylens are characters from the first game and seem to feature quite heavily in this one. Nice idea though, perhaps she could bump into herself elsewhere...

Re: Almost Half of PlayStation Gamers Are Women

This is awesome to hear. My girlfriend wanted to play games when she was younger but she was not allowed. I introduced her to Detroit a couple of years ago and that was the first game she ever completed. We were locked down together last year and I introduced her to Breath of the Wild which she played for 150+ hours. She’s now finished Horizon, God of War, Valhalla and is now playing Disco Elysium. Last night we both watched the Horizon Forbidden West state of play and we were both ridiculously excited.

Without the pandemic I don’t think she would have become the gamer she has now but it’s so nice to have a joint hobby.

Re: Biomutant (PS4) - The Classic Case of What Could Have Been

Ward_ting

Wow, that is so disappointing to read. I was so psyched for this! I was expecting an average 7 at worst but never dreamed of it getting a 4!

Doesn’t sound like it’s anything that can be resolved by future patches either unfortunately, apart from perhaps the bullet sponge enemies...

I was almost going to purchase day one but I will definitely hold off now until maybe it comes down in price.

Re: Returnal Team Out to Prove It's More Than Just the 'Resogun Studio'

Ward_ting

@Xenomorph_79 I’ve played for 50+ hours and the only bug I’ve experienced is some sound cutting out. Meanwhile I’ve played Resident Evil Village for less than 10 hours and am near the end of the game. Though I can appreciate Returnal is on the expensive side I certainly think Its been worth the money. I’ve rolled credits, completed the third act and am close to the platinum and it keeps pulling me back in for more.

Re: Returnal Update 1.3.7 Arrives on PS5 Today, Here Are the Patch Notes

Ward_ting

@JigsawPieces @Nintendo4Sonic @Daleaf Biome 3 was by far the hardest for me. By 30+ hours I still hadn’t got passed it! I was pulling my hair out. Once biome 3 was out of the way I managed 4-6 without dying and rolled credits and could not believe it! Keep going and you’ll get there. Biome 4 is a breath of fresh air.

I’m so close to the platinum, just missing 1 cipher from 2 biomes but am taking a break with resident evil!

Re: Psychonauts 2 Gameplay Looks So Vibrant and Experimental

Ward_ting

I’m surprised this is coming to PlayStation. The way some diehard fans in the Xbox community have been going on about this game and how it is Microsoft’s answer to Ratchet and Clank made me think it was an Xbox exclusive. I personally think it looks really nice. Never played number 1.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

Ward_ting

The idea of Pre order armour and weapon sets has never really landed with me, especially if the armour is also available in the main game. If it’s an aesthetic thing fair enough but there’s something about starting with better weapons and armour that takes the fun out of the game a bit for me. I want to discover this stuff for myself and feel the struggle and earn the reward. Similarly games that give you some kind of free in-game currency or experience / skill points as a reward for preordering is baffling to me.

Anyway, I digress, I am super psyched for this game and am on the cusp of pre ordering... (not for the armour, honest 😉)

Re: Saints Row The Third Remastered PS5 Version Likely as Trophy List Appears

Ward_ting

Could never get into the Saints Row games. Saying that I've never really been a fan of GTA games either (apart from the original PS1 version). I'm not sure it's the genre for me and I can't figure out why, because I love open world / sandbox games.

Anyway, i'm enjoying seeing older games getting PS5 love and hope to see it continue, though I'm not sure this is a game that needed / should have it.
