Nathan Drake’s last hurrah is arguably his best yet. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is filled with twists and turns, and it brilliantly blends bombast with close personal moments, wrapping up many of the story arcs from the PS3 trilogy – while kickstarting some new ones. Naughty Dog’s art department is once again on fire, while the voice acting and cut-scene direction is a level above what’s available elsewhere.

The mighty Housemarque knocked it out of the park with Resogun, a stylish, voxel-based side scrolling shoot-'em-up. The arcade action found here is among the best on PS4, with endlessly replayable levels as you reach for higher and higher scores. It may not be all that complex, but the ultra smooth gameplay is some of the slickest you'll find. A class act.

This reimagining of the very first game in the series was made to accompany the movie, but ended up totally eclipsing it. Blending a familiar adventure with some new weapons and gadgets, Ratchet & Clank is both nostalgic and fresh. It's a visual treat, with exquisite animation and fun shooting/platforming gameplay. This is one gorgeous adventure that both fans and newcomers will adore.

In a generation that’s seen practically every property incorporate a sandbox, some may have been dismayed to see Clap-Hanz’s cult Everybody’s Golf franchise adopt open world environments. But it works well, lending itself to some great online multiplayer modes and neat social activities. At its core, the click-click-click gameplay of yore is expertly executed, while the character creator aspect is fun to faff around with.

For many, Bloodborne is the best action RPG FromSoftware has made, and it's not hard to understand why. Built on the super popular hard-but-fair formula of Dark Souls, this PS4 exclusive game tries something different, with a lavish Lovecraftian, gothic horror setting and more intense combat that rewards aggressive play. Combine the excellent gameplay with outstanding art, world design, and music, and you have a game that's truly the full package. An exquisite experience.
