@Northern_munkey @WallyWest this has also been my general experience. In fact Game at the moment is selling it for £54.99 whereas it is £59.99 on the PS Store.
It's a good move from EA but it is mildly disappointing they are only honouring this for digital editions. I guess the "free" upgrade is actually hidden behind the higher cost of digital purchases making it not so free afterall.
@trev666 reviews are subjective and written by different individuals who will quite possibly have different opinions, which is allowed. One person’s excellent can quite easily be another persons mediocre, each to their own. Whether it’s a sister site or not or Xbox versus PlayStation is irrelevant. I’m inclined to agree with this review based on my own play through on the 360 when it first came out but if other people find this gameplay exciting that’s up to them.
A review very much in line with my own personal feelings about the game back on the Xbox 360. I honestly thought I was going crazy when I saw how excited everybody was getting about this game making a return but glad to see there are some people out there who share the same views. Had they completely remade it I’d have given it a shot. It sounds like this game needed more than just a slight paint job.
Finally. Interesting they were denying it so profusely rather than just staying silent on the matter! Wonder if we are going to get any big game announcements from them anytime soon!
@Fbase88 I’m entitled to an opinion just as you are. I found the writing quite bad and the voice acting wooden and the game play repetitive. That was enough to dampen my enjoyment. It wasn’t a terrible game. I enjoy plenty of other “masterpieces” thank you very much.
I’m happy people are looking forward to this but it still just looks so boring to me. I played it on the 360 and although I finished it I found it a bit of a slog. I thought maybe now that I’m older I’d appreciate playing it again but nope, that video just brought back all the memories of boredom.
Had a couple of crashes in my play through and then towards the end, near Meridian I found a consistent crash whenever I walked towards a specific area for a quest. It was very strange and the only way to avoid it was by going the completely opposite way to where I needed to go and to get there via a really long roundabout way. For a while I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to finish the game.
Really enjoying this a lot. Don’t be fooled by the games sweet, cutesy Pixar style graphics, this game’s combat is CHALLENGING, even on normal. An excellent game. Can’t wait to see where this studio goes next.
@Zinger_Stacker ah yes! That is exactly the one I am having issues with! Maybe next time I go on it will work for me then. It’s reassuring that you got it working. Thanks!
@Zinger_Stacker yea it really is! As somebody who intended on getting the platinum it’s quite annoying not being able to collect everything due to this bug. Hopefully it gets fixed
Had a couple of bugs so far playing PS5. Most annoying so far has been not being able to move an object using the Rot. No matter where you try to tell them where to go they just stay on the spot and refuse to move. Reloading hasn’t solved it. Mildy annoying but not game breaking. On the whole really enjoying the game though! It’s a really lovely pace and quite chilled out.
@hulkie 3D sound is only for games that support it. For example, older PS4 games you are playing via backwards compatibility won’t use 3D sound. In fact when I play some older games I actually turn the 3D sound off.
To my knowledge there are no movies that support 3D, though I could be wrong on that point.
@bremkat35 you’ve never needed the Pulse headset to make use of the 3D audio I’m afraid. Any headphones are capable of outputting the 3D sound. The 3D comes from the Tempest Engine rather than the headphones. It was all very complicated marketing from Sony, and probably deliberately so.
I’m on the beta and the 3D sound from the TV is good for those games that support it. Headphones will always be infinitely better from an immersion point of view. Still a very nice feature though.
Miles Morales was just the right length of game for me. It was very fun but any longer and I might have lost interest. I think Insomniac did an incredible job and the RT really was great but, yea, I think they’d have to really mix things up a bit to get me to play it.
I’m so bored of superhero franchises dominating all forms of media.
The trailer reminded me how bad I found the voice acting the first time I played it. I was considering playing this when it released but the trailer didn’t excite me at all and has actually turned me off the idea. I might be a minority there.
Besides the wordy and over explained plot points are there many / any eye rolling cringe and inconsistent writing moments akin to Scarlet Nexus? Honestly, that game has got my back up about starting another JRPG for those reasons but this one has definitely piqued my interest.
I played this on the 360 and remember thinking it was just ok. Some interesting game mechanics and a nice atmosphere but I remember getting a little bored. I might revisit it seeing as it’s been so long, perhaps my tastes have changed.
@Air-Dog yea I did play the demo a little bit but I really hate demos that drop you half way in a game with all the characters and all your skills unlocked and very little context so I stopped playing. Perhaps I’ll watch some YouTube vids on release to get a better sense of the writing.
I haven’t played an Arise game before. I recently played Scarlet Nexus and although I enjoyed most of the fight mechanics the story telling and writing was truly awful and cringeworthy. This is a problem I have with a number of JRPGs. Based on previous games in the series, does the writing hold up?
I will definitely wait for reviews before jumping on this but interested to hear other people’s thoughts on the writing in Arise games.
I think this is going to be a good show with some unexpected tricks up their sleeves. A PS+ revamp would be most welcome and I just have a feeling that this is the occasion where it will be announced.
A while ago wasn’t there a story from someone of note saying Sony had a counter response to Gamepass in the works but it wasn’t ready for announcement yet? This would be the perfect time for that if that is the case.
Perhaps some kind of PS Now / PS+ / Netflix subscription do dar. The timing of the FF games PS Now announcements seems suspect to me but who knows.
Anyway, I have some high expectations for this one after numerous employees have said to get hyped for it. I think there will be some huge key announcements that we really were not expecting.
Before PS5 released the narrative was the same. “Oh, it’s going to overheat, blah blah blah”. Guess what? It came out and they didn’t overheat. Shock.
Now the narrative is exactly the same with this revision. Do people honestly think that Sony haven’t tested and figured this all out? They know what they are doing. They aren’t going to release a revised model that works less efficiently, or at least to a level that is going to cause malfunction.
Once these are more widely available the over heating narrative will quieten down and people will find some other thing to focus on and complain about, and all without facts.
@hi_drnick I was thinking the same! Textures and faces just seem so much more detailed all of a sudden. It’s probably always been this detailed but can just appreciate it more with a smoother frame rate.
@Gamer83 the reason horizon was delayed was largely because it relies so heavily on motion capture and the studios were closed due to covid which set it back. Developers have already explained this. Ratchet and clank is a different animal. A linear, much, much shorter game with limited characters, story and script etc. You can’t say “oh insomniac could do it”
Am sad but Feb 2022 will be here before we know it. Having a solid date is comforting though. Already tried the 60fps patch as have had it installed prepared for this moment! It is glorious and feels like a whole new game. Can’t wait to replay it and give frozen wilds some attention
@Steel76 I'm with you. I really don't like it when a demo drops me half way through a game with no context and with a bunch of characters I have zero connection with. Introducing me to all the game's mechanics at once feels a bit overwhelming. I'd much prefer to start from the beginning. I played the demo for about 10 minutes and it seems quite pretty. I might play it later on down the line but wont be pre-ordering it.
@PegasusActual93 @PaperAlien I really didn’t get on with the second game either. Not entirely sure why but I just didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much. The first game I played on the PC and absolutely loved. It’s the kind of game that really benefits from high FPS and I think the second felt a bit clunky on the PS4 for me.
Everyone saying Sony need to intervene, people forget that Sony are actually smart. I can’t imagine they would let someone get this far into their ecosystem (a PS5 exclusive app, featured on their blog etc.) without something solid to back it up. If Blue Box have managed to pull the wool over Sony’s eyes then kudos to them, but I can’t see that happening.
@AdamNovice I’d settle for the 60fps patch! I’ve been holding off replaying it in the hope that it does drop sometime soon. The Witcher 3 next gen patch sometime this year too so maybe that could pass some time... it’s a shame if it is delayed but there’s plenty going on for me to not feel like I’m missing out too much.

I really was expecting some complete wild cards but they never materialised, though KOTR was a nice touch and gave me goose bumps and pure nostalgia.

I think a good show on the whole but not groundbreaking.
