Preordered it long ago. Please don’t be a buggy mess, please don’t be a buggy mess, please…
Am so hyped for this. I recently replayed HZD with the 60fps patch and experienced Frozen Wilds for the first time and man, it was an absolute dream and still holds up so well today.
The bond episodes were the worst thing about this game. The dialogue was bloody awful and just full of such nonsense. Got to a point where I just skipped through most of the dialogue that wasn’t anything to do with the main story. Saying that I only played Yuito’s story and immediately deleted the game afterwards. The fighting mechanics were a lot of fun but I could not stomach any more of the awful dialogue and voice acting.
I played the first Splinter Cell OBSESSIVELY! I used to be so strict with myself and would reload the game whenever I was seen by an enemy. Glad they are sticking to the linear story telling. I expect lots of in-game purchases for new skins and maybe access to different weapons and equipment… see you 2026.
This looks quite nice visually. Will definitely give it a try at some point. Am close to platinuming Death's Door which was just fantastic! Perhaps i'll give this a go next.
I did start playing the first one but I honestly could not handle the low fps. It felt so disorientating. If they release a 60fps patch I'll probably revisit it. DL2 looks fun but I'm still not sure these games are for me.
Found myself saying no more than I expected but setting expectations low! Sadly won’t catch it live but plan on catching it all up first thing in the morning ! Can forward anything that is a bit on the rubbish side which is always a plus!
If something dropped at The Games Awards I honestly would not be surprised at this point. Timing of the update is quite a coincidence, unless Bluebox are deliberately using the timing to further mislead
I was very excited by this but I think I will hold off now. Shame as I actually thought it was a solid month. I know it was never advertised as the PS5 version but no well priced upgrade path is a disappointment.
Was really excited by Mortal Shell but seems a shame to not play it at its full potential with the enhanced version. It's hard to play games at 30fps now!
Awesome and totally believable. Sony said they’d have an answer to Gamepass and this is it. Wish it was sooner than Spring but sure I’ll manage the first quarter of 2022 because of the Feb line up alone.
@ShogunRok hmm thanks for the heads up! I may give it a try if it goes on sale. I feel like the magic of these adventure games gets lost when they go 3D. Same thing happened with Broken Sword, and then when it returned to its roots it was fantastic again.
The original beneath a steel sky is one of my favourite games, along with Monkey Island. Played it on the Amiga 500. Would have loved for this to be good but sadly it looks a bit like trash which is a shame!
Arcane is one of the best series I’ve ever watched. The animation is absolutely gorgeous and the music is spot on. It has been playing on my mind ever since finishing it. An absolute masterpiece.
Bioshock is one of my favourite FPS series of all time so I am super excited for a 4th instalment in the series! Playing through the collection again recently (thank you PS+) was glorious!
If this is true I’m happy. Been so close to purchasing Mortal Shell on a number of occasions! Godfall I’d never dream of buying but will definitely give it a go!
Finished Metroid today and honestly it was a solid 8. Very enjoyable but I really don’t understand the 10/10 hype personally. It didn’t do anything new or exciting. Has nothing on Hollow Knight. If Returnal was there that would probably get my vote, but in absence of that I’ve gone for Ratchet, though I did really enjoy Deathloop too.
I agree that there isn’t one clear winner this year. Lots of great games so quite tough to pick!
Returnal and Ratchet were fantastic fun and probably my favourite games this year. It Takes Two definitely does deserve an honourable mention and I’ve had an absolute blast with Deathloop too.
Am really enjoying Metroid Dread but it’s not the sort of game that gives me the exciting goosebumps that some of the others I’ve played this year gave me.
Forza had a lot of praise and a great meta critic score but I’d be surprised if a driving game made game of the year.
Deathloop and Metroid Dread for me! Am having an absolute blast with Deathloop despite being put off originally by the constant promotion and exposure. It’s an easy 9/10 for me!
This was to be expected. I would like to see more games implementing the 40fps Fidelity mode for 120hz displays, as seen in Ratchet and Clank. That was a real game changer and a nice middle ground between performance and quality.
Glad I’ve held off on getting this in that case! Looking forward to when I get round to it.
I’m a sucker for preordering games and finishing them before the enhancements / quality of life patches are released and I never learn. This time it paid off.
Got Horizon preordered but I’m already wondering what I’ll miss out on by not waiting it out a bit!
I actually really enjoyed Valhalla. Platinumed it and actually preferred it in many ways to Odyssey.
I think a lot of it’s success comes down to it being the first AC on a next gen console so a lot of people sat on the fence about AC games may have dipped in as it was one game close to console launch that offered a next gen experience. In fact, that’s exactly the reason I gave it a go and I hadn’t played an AC game since AC3. Recently played Odyssey after this.
This looks awful, sadly. Have such fond memories of Star Ocean on PS1 but nothing has topped it. Dunno what was going on with some of the character design and animations in this.
Will give Kingdoms of Amular a go. Sounds like it got a 4K patch on PS5 which is always nice. Hoping it doesn’t feel too janky though! Intrigued by first class trouble. This is one of the better recent months for me.
@OneManDroid yes you could turn off the game and return if you wanted using rest mode but if you were a household sharing a console or a person who plays different games at once this was not a feasible solution. Plenty of roguelikes already exist with a save and quit function exactly like what Returnal just implemented, allowing you to drop in and out as you see fit, whilst maintaining the challenge of having to complete the game in a single run.
@OneManDroid they didn’t buckle to the people who don’t understand what a rogue-like is, they buckled to the people who understood exactly what a rogue-like is. Save and Quit exists in numerous rogue-likes
Should have been there from the beginning but ultimately a smart move to finally go through with it. This will get a lot of fence sitters biting now and new sales is always going to be nice for them.
Already platinumed it so I’m unlikely to play again unless they bring in some DLC. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even without this option but for those people with loads of games on the go or whom share consoles this is good.
I played a couple of maps and really didn’t enjoy it. I was experiencing a lot of buggy graphics and as mentioned in the article I did struggle to distinguish enemy from foe. I understand this was a beta but I was expecting much more from a new game, particularly in the graphics department and for me the graphics were no better than some of the older BF games. Definitely won’t be getting this game, at least not for a year or so.
I think this is a great idea. The problem I have with demos is that they generally drop you in the middle of a game and I always find that a bit overwhelming. This will allow me to experience the game from the beginning and then the option to continue by paying is cool.
Does anyone know if you can continue playing if you opt to buy the physical version over digital?

Psychonauts 2 after getting the black Friday deal. Superb so far!
