I never got around to finishing the original as I was playing it with friends whilst at uni. I am super psyched to finally get to experience this on my own, on this gen hardware. It's looking awesome.
Ok, I stayed optimistic and did expect a couple of sizzlers to be dropped but with the exception of the Callisto project there really wasn’t much there for me. Wow. I think even those with low expectations may have come away feeling robbed.
Makes sense to temper expectations. The gaming community can be so toxic so nobody wants to be on the receiving end of abuse for overhyping. By limiting expectations, if the event does blow some people away unexpectedly then that’s a huge win. If it’s not good, well, we told you it wouldn’t be that good.
I’m really excited about the show and I actually quite like Geoff. I find him charming, in a weird way.
Am I the only person that doesn’t like preorder rewards in the form of items, armour, weapons etc? In some games the weapons and armour rewards are so advantageous in the early game that it can sometimes make things a bit too easy.
I’ve been playing Tribes of Midgard with my brother. Highly addictive! I’ve also just started Sable on my Laptop and it is stunning. Beautiful music, fantastic art direction and just a great game to chill out to.
Waiting for the PS+ revamp to give Guardians of the Galaxy and Stray a go.
I already platinumed it on Fidelity mode but turned it on just to see the difference on Performance mode and was really surprised at the improvements. The 40fps mode, when released, will be so good, but I’ll have to hold out for some DLC or something before I give it a try
Was hoping for something a bit more significant given we are entering the month of the PS+ rebrand, but alas… nothing for me here. GoW makes a lot of sense with Ragnarok on its way. All bases are now well and truly covered.
I enjoyed Odyssey, though it did drag a bit, but all I’ve seen for Origins is praise. Perhaps I’ll give it a go. Do we know if it is going to be available in PS Premium as part of Ubisoft+ Classics?
Animated Horizon in a similar style to Arkane League of Legends would be amazing. So much could go wrong with a live action. Gran Turismo as a tv show is just watching car racing as a sport, which already exists, surely?!
@MisterXpoSay the article says "Your game time only counts while you’re actually playing, so you get a full five hours of playtime. You can spread this over as many different sessions as you like, too"
So yea, if you play for 1 hour, you can come back and play your other 4 hours at a later time, and you can even split the time over as many sessions as you like. 30 minutes here, 10 minutes there, all until 5 hours has elapsed.
Tribes of Midgard is actually a fantastic co op which has surprised me immensely. Me and my brother have sunk many many hours into it. I’d say it is more worthy of this list than some of the other games mentioned as it is actually a co op in the more traditional sense.
Amazing. This definitely confirms it is releasing this year. I honestly don't think they would be revealing these details if it wasn't near going gold.
I actually cannot wait to replay this. I actually played it on Nintendo Switch during lockdown and was surprised at how well the Switch handled it. A new-gen upgrade is going to melt my eyes in comparison. Can't wait.
"in the next several months" couldn't be any more vague. Expect nothing for a LONG time, haha.
The original game is an all time favourite of mine. It was such a groundbreaking and genre defining game and to play it on this gen hardware excites me immensely.
It was a great world but I really did not enjoy the gameplay and story all that much and found myself getting bored. The voice acting was also not too great either. I won’t write it off just yet as there was definitely untapped potential there.
@GADG3Tx87 haha, Sony have probably implemented trophies for this very reason. They hope the people that try it get a few trophies then have no choice but to buy the full game so that they can collect them all.
Saves transferring over is a big plus. Traditional demos that dump you in the middle of a game mostly annoy me, and have more often than not dissuaded me from purchasing the full game. Being able to start from the beginning and then continuing from where you left off is great.
Although I have no intention on getting the top tier subscription this is sounding pretty cool. I do think it should be part of the basic subscription though, or at the very least, premium.
Honestly, at this stage the only game I am interested in is Return to Monkey Island. Please please please be featured. I just replayed the first 3 in anticipation for its release.
I’m hoping for a couple of mic drop moments but it will likely be average at best. I will, however, watch every second of it.
If you can save your progress and continue where you left off if you decide to purchase, then I think it’s pretty cool. It’s a shame it’s in the highest tier because I don’t think it’s cool enough to warrant paying the highest tier
Damn, Insomniac are geniuses. I really hope they start imparting their knowledge to other developers. R&C using the 120hz 40fps Fidelity mode was a dream. It really struck the perfect balance of performance and fidelity and more games need to start offering this.
Santa Monica have confirmed it’s coming this year and have reconfirmed it’s coming this year numerous times now. It would be ludicrous to think otherwise. They are clearly holding back on showing anymore off until a huge blow out event.
I would never have bought this game. In fact, I didn’t even play it after redeeming it. I imagine sales would not have really been that great for this type of game anyway, and in fact, it probably introduced the series to new players for the first time, which is a good thing. Maybe if there’s another game in the series it will have new fans to sell to as a result of PS+.
I finished the first act and am now playing as the next character but I’ve started to tire of the gameplay much quicker than I expected. Quite possibly won’t finish it now. It’s got some interesting narrative ideas but ultimately it feels quite dated to me.
Finally got round to playing Cyberpunk and I have to say I am really enjoying it. The menus and hacking and stuff are all a bit overly complicated but the world is gorgeous and am just having lots of fun with it.
@PVTHudson yea, I am with you on that. I honestly couldn’t tell you an adaptation that I have ever liked. Arcane is probably the exception! If Disco Elysium remained animated in a similar style to Arcane then I could definitely see that working! It’s an awesome world so am very intrigued!
At first I missed Deaths Door from the list and was somewhat confused but on second look I see that it did indeed make the top 3, where it belongs. An Absolutely delightful game, and far more challenging than its cutesy art direction may have you believe. A definite indie highlight for me this year. Hades is also incredible but Deaths Door got me bad. Now all we need is the Hollow Knight sequel!
@Relygon it’s an absolute must play and probably the best game to fully realise all of the dualsense’s features. The features of the controller really shine in this game! Very few games have come close.
It’s probably a game more akin to Mario Odyssey / Mario Galaxy but it pays beautiful tribute to every PlayStation generation from PS1 to present.

One of the better line-ups in recent months. Been wanting to try Tribes of Midgard for a while. Curse of the Dead Gods looks like it could be fun too.
