@Kidfunkadelic83 I watched a number of YouTube videos which really helped me get to grips with it. Having a slightly better understanding really elevated my enjoyment of it. If feeling a little lost, as I did, I highly recommend checking out some “thing I wish I’d known…” / “beginners guide to…” type of videos
It’s a great idea. I can sometimes overthink my decisions and reload when I think I’d prefer a different outcome. Being completely accountable for everything and just having to stick with it, as stressful as it might be, would definitely make for a much quicker and a more weighted play through, which I quite like the sound of!
@kyleforrester87 Yea, I have no doubt they will get it right, but I detest that side of social media and playing video games is a good way to escape it. Hopefully they implement it in a way that doesn't grate, and as @Steel76 says, if we can blow them up perhaps i'll let it slide
Anyone else find the social media elements just so incredibly cringe? Games trying to be relevant in this way just rub me up the wrong way. This may not even be relevant in 2025 (Fingers crossed).
This is a stark reminder of how big my backlog is! Tears of the Kingdom and BG3 really have consumed all of the hours I have available to play this year that I haven’t played any of the other games on the list yet.
A fantastic game.I remember being so wowed by the graphics, particularly the water when I played this the very first time.
Played it through again during lockdown but probably won’t pick this up. Still, for anyone who hasn’t played it before this is definitely a good way in!
@GeeEssEff there is just so much to it! The far reaching impact of every decision is amazing. I haven’t touched multi classing either, I’ve been playing as Shadowheart and kept her relatively as is. My next play through id definitely create a unique character. I’m curious how Shadowheart would really respond to situations when not playing as her. The replay value here is insane.
Honestly, I cannot stop gushing about this game. Every time I put it on I stumble across something or have an interaction that just astounds me. The narrative is flawless. It’s been a long time since a game got me this deep.
While playing ToTK I was certain it was Game of the Year. After finishing it I went on to BG3 and that immediately clicked with me in a very unique way. The narrative, the combat, the world, the lore, the endless choice. It is a masterpiece and totally deserving of the crown.
Like others I always thought she would have been a fantastic Ellie. Her performance in Unbelievable and Dopesick was incredible.
I suspect season 2 is going to be the filler between the first game and second game. If that is the case then she doesn't need to be bulked up for this season and it could be the aftermath of the hospital and the beginning of her training.
Got a day one PS5 and it hasn’t given me any problems whatsoever. Use it daily and the console has given me nothing but joy. This year especially has just been wild in terms of the quality of games available. Looking forward to seeing what else is cooking
@Kidfunkadelic83 if your fat broke down and you still wanted a PS5 then you'd have no choice but to buy the slim, as the fat is no longer being produced. Unless you'd wait for a PS5 Pro instead.
I’ve been a PS+ subscriber since 2014 and this is literally the first time I have let it lapse. It will take some incredible games to get me back on but for now the games I do want to play are never going to be included so there is little point.
BG3 is absolutely amazing. Any bug I have encountered has been relatively minor, and sometimes hilarious and hasn’t been disruptive to the overall flow of the game.
That being said, since this patch combat has felt a bit more sluggish than normal, with button presses taking some time to be acknowledged. I’m not sure if it’s coincidence or a result of the patch. Anyone else noticed anything like that?
Another game I’m keen to play! This year has been a bit ridiculous really. I’m on Act 3 of Baldurs Gate 3 which is easily my GOTY, and then I’ve got RE4, Alan Wake 2, Dead Space, Lies of P, Octopath Traveller to work through. Need more time in the day!
I honestly found Alan Wake 1 incredibly boring when I first played it on the Xbox 360 all those years back. Still, this game looks very intriguing and I hope they have addressed some of the issues I had with the first game. It is going to be a looker, that's for sure.
It’s definitely one of the better months however I cancelled my subscription to PS+ after they announced the price increase. If they can justify the increase by adding more top quality games I may resubscribe but for now I’ve a load of games to play that are not on the service.
I am actually a fan of this stick layout so has definitely got my interest. I love the PS5 controller’s features but I find it quite uncomfortable after a while and prefer the DS4 and also Xbox controller in terms of hand feel.
The best Star Wars game and an important game for WRPGs. It really paved the way for games like Mass Effect. One of my favourite games ever. I was excited to revisit it with next (current) gen features. A real shame if it doesn't see the light of day but it doesn't sound good.
I played Cyberpunk pretty early on and thought it was fine. I am intrigued to give it a go again, now that it's had a complete overhaul. Still working through BG3 though, which is impeccable!
Would like to give it a go at some point but I've got a big backlog of games I want to play once I've finished BG3, which I have only really just started!
I’m loving it so far. Very early in though. Only bug I’ve experienced so far is one where I suddenly was unable to examine anything. Reloading sorted it.
Zelda is dominating me right now. I am in awe. Every niggle I had with BotW has been addressed and the endless possibilities for approaching a problem, and the world in general, is astounding. Every other game is on serious pause for the next 200+ hours
I’m on the fence here. Although a completely different form of medium, I was SO against Spotify and music streaming when it first started making waves. I owned so much music physically and digitally and felt there was no way on earth that subscription services could ever replace that, but how wrong I was. I absolutely love Spotify and its convenience, and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere soon.
I do think the same could happen for games, which in some sense is sad. In a world where Cloud technology actually works well, that is when I see gaming subscriptions really excelling. That’s a long way away but I think it’s written in the stars, although I hope I’m wrong.
Forbidden West's fidelity was absolutely fantastic and is possibly still unrivalled by games since. I am really curious about the decision to make this PS5 only and am hoping we really do see some further improvements to justify the decision not to make it cross-gen.
@Dezzy70 given that Frozen Wilds was about 8 hours without the side content and about 17-18 hours doing all the side content, I expect this will be similar. Even if it was only 8 hours I think £15 for an 8 hour quality experience is more than worth it.
I hate the direction the world is moving in. Today I saw a tweet about an AI inhaling songs by The Beatles and then churning out music that sounds like them. It was not a great song, admittedly, but it’s still a scary thought, especially as the tech is doing this in its infancy. Where does the line get drawn? Surely the evolution of the tech could lead to AI even generating whole games?
I did consider the plat for this but I never want to look at another Merlin trial again so count me out. The reward for finding collectibles and loot etc is just not worth it. What started off as a fantastic game (and I do still feel it is mostly excellent) has now become a bit of tedium. I burnt myself out with the collectibles and challenges I have completed and now just plan on ploughing through the remaining main quests. They could have reduced all that stuff by more than half and that would have been the sweet spot. I’d also possibly have considered replaying the opening as different houses if the other stuff wasn’t so tedious.
Absolutely loved the original game but the sequel has been in development for so long that a whole generation of younger gamers are going to have no clue about the original and so any hype that there was has now died off. It would take a miracle at this stage to pull this off and resources would probably server better elsewhere.
Me and my girlfriend are loving it so much. Even though it possesses all of those open world tropes we’ve come to expect there is something really special about it. It has bags of charm and I can’t see myself getting bored of the exploration or the combat anytime soon.
I found it incredibly infuriating in Ragnarok. It was the only thing that occasionally dampened my enjoyment of what was a near perfect game. I found it more annoying than in Horizon FW.
