Don't forget that despite Microsoft buying developer Double Fine, Psychonauts 2 will still be coming to PlayStation 4 later this year. You probably wouldn't believe it though given our recent coverage of the game — this is actually the first time we've written about it since July 2020! Nevertheless, it's launching on a Sony console so we can cover this latest slice of gameplay, courtesy of Game Informer.

Three and a half minutes of footage focuses on the game's new Psi power named Mental Connection, and it works just like a grappling hook, allowing you to traverse the environment seamlessly. General gameplay also looks impressively vibrant, with colourful locations and psychedelic areas filling much of the video's runtime. Psychonauts 2 picks up a few days after the events of the first title released on PS2, which is available on the PS Store. It sounds like it'll be worth going back to that game if you want to stay up to date with what the sequel's narrative will offer.

The gameplay update was also coupled with an update from Double Fine itself, with the studio stating: "Testers have played, feedback is being addressed, small tweaks and extra dialogue added, and preparations made for launch later this year."
