@strawhatcrew you have a point to an extent. Maybe it is just how horrendously bad Sony are at PR at the moment. A clever company would have come out and said “we hear you and given the current climate, where possible we will strive to release games on PS4 where it doesn’t impact PS5 development”.
Then I think they come off as a good guy rather than as lying.

If Sony are able to build god of war as a fantastic ps5 experience, and then strip it back so it works on PS4 then I see that as a good thing. If it’s holding back ps5 development then it may have a problem.

However, more than Sony lying, Microsoft should probably be commended for being honest and putting their plans on the table.

We have seen how stunning work individual devs have done in the past, this might be a very good looking but small title.

Currently playing saints row 3 on it and just got enslaved off eBay so looking forward to that

@OthmaneAD We don't know it will be the GOTY edition. Often these services are used to encourage DLC sales.

Are patches still coming? Everything has gone very quiet recently.

Final fantasy released one mainline game last gen and it needs a break? Yeah there were ports and a remake to bring some older games to new platforms but nothin excessive.

And as far as xiii goes I quite liked it, wish I could play it on modern hardware like a certain other brand can.

I don’t get what his aim is? He is frustrated at the future of the franchise but all he is doing is hastening the end of those titles by the looks of it. I seriously think the world would be better off if we write the internet off as a failed experiment. Too many people can’t be trusted.

I’d say it’s not bad really but seems large in comparison to the claims everyone made of game sizes shrinking. I’d say they have maybe stayed the same.

@MatthewJP I think those games will be really great but are all quite safe and similar genres. Despite this story I still expect creativity to be down from PS4 which was down from ps3. Hopefully I’m wrong.

I’m excited for this, but it sounds expensive, I think the fact that PSVR was reasonably priced helped it gain traction, things could fall down if this is high priced, and we know how great Sony are at supporting products that aren’t immediately successful.

@Total_Weirdo I’m sure returnal is great and I’d love to try it but it’s not my kind of game generally. That £70 tag makes it too difficult to just impulse buy. Unfortunately I’m sure many others look at it similarly.

@JapaneseSonic I imagine doing it as a professional can take some sheen off and certainly change your opinions to those other then people who just play as a hobby. Through no real fault of their own.

@Paranoimia not fired this one up yet, but if you preferred the horror of the original 3 as opposed to the action of 4,5,6 then 7 did a great job of bringing that back, you can prob check it out really cheap

Interesting how high a percentage got it on ps5 given the ongoing theme that no one can get one. Maybe we can get past that now?

@Weebleman I’m still ok at the moment space wise but can’t imagine will be for long. As a family machine we all tend to have different games on the go and personally I like to have a couple of games for if I have a large amount of time (final fantasy etc) and stuff for if I only have time for a quick blast (control is working pretty good for that). My point is everyone’s situation is different, just because some finish one game and move on to the next, not everyone does and in comparison to game size the ssd is pretty small.

Will the plus version upgrade or will this be like final fantasy?

@Weebleman many. My boys still actively play bugsnax and both Spider-Man games despite them being platinumed, I’m currently playing control and wreckfest but who knows might occasionally pick up the odd game of worms. And that’s excluding the external PS4 games. Variety is the spice of life.

Give its 3 games it’s not too bad but they really do need to consider hard drive space now. Why do I need to install all three? Why do I need 20gb of languages I’m not going to use? Giving us options would be nice.

@thefourfoldroot I agree there are certainly areas where Sony leads but that lead isn’t what it used to be so they shouldn’t take some areas for granted. And this is almost advertising well we could make these games better we just don’t. It’s a little odd.

Seems a bit odd to introduce a logo for this when likely it’s main push for it has already finished

I’m concerned about this as I never considered 4 a horror game, 7 felt like the best resi since 2 and 4 was a bad turn towards action. So these comparisons bother me.

I imagine this is a case of the original release date is to coincide with physical and given the code is gold and just waiting there they have decided to release it early to plus. I may be wrong but that makes sense to me.

I think ps plus has been killing it recently hopefully it can continue, for me it’s ps now that has really lost its way.

@Gunnerzaurus 65% is quantity of games downloaded. That could mean anything. Hence my questions as to what’s included in that. Then when they go on to talk about revenue they include subscriptions and micro transactions. This seems disingenuous. If they hadn’t included money from micro transactions and subscriptions would physical have been ahead?

@Gunnerzaurus not really, the numbers are all over the place,the 65% is based on number downloaded not money, and when they talk money they throw subscriptions and micro transactions in to inflate the the value. Which suggests to me the physical is actually outselling but this is massaging the figures?

As always this article lacks context whilst making conclusions. Is this including digital only? Is this including ps plus? How many were down to low sales? Only way you can really draw any conclusion would be to compare week one sales of a high profile release and compare digital to physical.

I’ve been meaning to play wreck fest since it’s been on Now. I guess the upgrade is good.

@Rob_230 I really don’t see horizon as an RPG, I get it has a few RPG systems in it but just seems another 3rd person action adventure to me.

@God_of_Nowt I can’t see any case where hardly anyone would be using them, that would have only been an issue if the controller was terrible. I don’t believe this move was anything more than a couch co-op tax from Sony.

It just doesn’t appeal to me, those movies are readily available on Netflix/Nowtv don’t need another service like that. PlayStation should stick to gaming, that’s why Microsoft got criticism last gen.

I have enough tv and movie services I’d rather they focus on gaming.

People are going to pick up games at launch when games create a value parity. That means for an adequate price providing a good game that works.

4 does not belong at 1. Resi 1 remake, resi 2 remake and 7 are easily 1,2,3

I get people’s frustration about these stories but I actually think it’s important, would be great to see in a months time what the PlayStation sales are like compared to those on mlb 20 to see if it’s had an affect or not.
