Cyberpunk 2077’s big March update was supposed to be the one that fixed the title’s major performance issues, but while it does undoubtedly crash less and run better – even on a PlayStation 4 Pro – it’s still nowhere near the standard expected of a major AAA title. And as a result, it still remains unavailable on the PlayStation Store – more than four months since Sony made the unprecedented decision to remove it.
Polish developer CD Projekt RED recently said that the sci-fi RPG is “closer” to returning to the storefront, but still hasn’t attached a date to exactly when it expects it to be available. “The final decision, you have to understand, belongs to Sony,” boss Michał Nowakowski said as part of an investor call. “We do believe we’re closer than further, but of course, the final call is theirs, so let’s wait and see.”
Physical copies of the title recently rose to 10th position on the UK sales charts, suggesting there is still commercial interest in the game – despite its disastrous launch. The developer has said that it plans to sell the title for years to come, with a PS5 version slated for some point this year. However, as we noted in a recent feature, the release finds itself fielding many unanswered questions at the moment, and CDPR still has a mountain to climb to resurrect it.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.
Never let it back.
Whats funny is I was testing out ps5 games playing on a ps4 using shareplay the other day. Astro's playroom and every ps5 game i have can be played on a ps4 (despite sony saying ps4 controllers can't be used to play ps5 games). However cyberpunk can't because its delisted from the store.
Hope we find out how deep this relationship was hurt. Almost feels like bridges have been burned with the uncertainty of his quote.
Good. MS should have made a stand against such shoddy work too, but I guess it was more difficult given their marketing agreement with the game.
CDPR have really crapped the bed with this one.
For Sony to take such drastic measures shows how pissed they were/are
Just for the sake of PushSquare getting some easy clicks I hope it stays off forever.
"In a now precedented move, Cyberpunk has been unavailable on the PlayStation store for 714 months."
I just tried doing another playthrough of this since I already got the platinum like 3 days after it released and now my building and people textures will not load and i fall through the map. I just want to be able to play this lol
Anyone who wants to play the game surely isn't waiting for the ps store to list it again so they can cough up $59.99 while its found on Amazon for under $30. Unless of course you hate saving money and enjoy products with zero resale value.
This is all about the refund CDPR promised, not the game itself. I'm hopelessly addicted to this game, and with the current patches, it is head and shoulders above some games that Sony has never had a problem putting on their store. Sony basically doesn't even HAVE a refund policy, and because this episode shone a light on that, it feels like Sony is just being petty.

@Jacko11
Talk about it all you want, but play it first.
@God_of_Nowt
I think if you have a dualsense that comes with the PS5 and a disclaimer saying that PS5 games work best with it that should be enough. And allow the use of DS4.
For example I want to go round my mates tonight and I am the only one with a PS5, I have 2 dualsenses and Fifa 21. We can't play 4 player Fifa on the PS5 version of the game because I don't want to buy 3 extra controllers, and my mates have no reason to get one yet. That kinda sucks, and so we might as well play the game on base PS4 which my mate does have.
Sad how this is actually good news for websites like pushsquare that keep publishing this every month. Like, we get it.
Other than CD Project Red i don't think anyone cares?????
I still waiting for the PS5 patch as i want a really good experience with this game as i love sci fi
Imagine how different this would have been if CDPR had launched cyberpunk as a native PS5 game instead of trying to shoehorn it onto a console that simply can’t run it. My copy is still in shrinkwrap waiting for the PS5 update that I have little to no faith will be out this year. One of the most disappointing games of my life. Hopefully someday I’ll get to enjoy it.
And defenders will tell you that nothing is wrong and their game works perfectly. If that were the case the game wouldn't still be off the store. Quality control, at least Sony does it.
@Niktaw
Amazing how disappointing it was for you, considering it never left it's shrinkwrap.
Without coming off as a salty, angry gamer, I hope it stays that way.
Didn't pre-order on PC after following the game for YEARS (I finally broke my curse! I had a problem okay). Ended up selling my 5700XT GFX card for a mint, and my Switch, and getting lucky enough to get a PS5 at retail price from a GameStop bundle...
Now patiently waiting for the PS5 version (Witcher 3 as well), and by that point I hope its fixed up fully (as good as it can be) and brings some crazy next gen features like Dual Sense. I do want to play the game still, but man was this one of my biggest gaming disappointments ever... CDPR lost so much of their good will with me, and many others.
@God_of_Nowt Interesting stuff. Of course, this gives extra credence to ensuring Sony includes the PSVR 2 controllers in the box with the new headset.
The Move Controllers could have been implemented much more widely with first gen VR titles if they had been included with all headsets, but was often an after thought with devs focussing on the DS4 for obvious reasons.
Thanks for all your insights. Been really interesting to read.
@naruball is this still a thing? Surely there must be something better to discuss?
@DualshockInfinit Im not mad or dissapointed i just moved on. Im happy i cancelled the preorder i really have issues when a physical copy is nothing more then a coaster on day one.
Fun fact: for over 4 months the game has been sitting on my shelf. I really want to try it but the bugs will get in the way. I dont want my keanu game experience to be bad
Sony have no reason to allow this back on the store until CDPR get their house in order, and deserve no criticism for doing so - their only error was allowing it on in the first place given the state the game launched in. They should definitely be looking to apply a seal of quality on all games before launching on their storefront, but i dread to think of the resource that would be required to test every single game that comes out.
Microsoft should definitely have removed the game too, but i guess their marketing arrangement made that difficult.
I still wonder what lasting damage this will cause between CDPR and Sony. On the one hand that one boss at CDPR was liking all the anti Sony tweets at the time and the refusal to relist the game will obviously be causing a rift. On the otherhand, the game sold better on Playstation compared to Xbox (28% vs 17%) so they will presumably want to keep Sony on side 🤷♂️
I do think CDPR will potentially be a future Microsoft acquisition target after this, but we'll see i guess
POleayed the game and completed around release. Thought it was ok but should ahve been a million miles better than what it was. I've seen better npc mechanics from games thatr released 5-10 years ago. Obviously tyhe devs could have done better but they were not afforded the time they should have got. I honestly hope the game stays off the PS store until in much better shape and next gen patch available.
Hopefully they get the game in an acceptable enough state so it can come back to the PS store.
Anyone think this will end up on PS Plus for a month?
@LordSteev exactly, it’s so disappointing it’s not even worth opening. It’s the ultimate level of disappointment. I trust that if it’s so broken Sony can’t even sell it on their store, with some of the absolute trash that’s readily available on there, it’s not worth my time.
Not one to keep harping on about something to annoy others which is why I'm just waiting for the PS5 version. If that doesn't turn out the way I hoped I'll probably buy it on PC.
I dunno why but I got reminded of that Yander Simulator meme twitter account, where the account user posts stuff that has happened before the Yander Simulator game finished development.
@God_of_Nowt I can’t see any case where hardly anyone would be using them, that would have only been an issue if the controller was terrible. I don’t believe this move was anything more than a couch co-op tax from Sony.
Finished it last week, decided to pick up a few more trophies and found that the fast travel locations trophy doesn't work since the last patch haha. Closed the game and deleted it there and then. Seems a fitting end to my time with the game.
To be fair, I did get 100 hours out of it and I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my time with it. I'll probably go back to it on PS5 proper one day, but it's still a great shame the game was released and tarnished this way. Imagine spending 8 years of your life working on something to have it sh@t out like that.
Why even bring it back.
They selling tons on PC with zero headache. Just cancel the PS4 version, It is not needed (making tons of profit without it)
Focus on PS5 that can actually run a Next Gen game.
@Niktaw ....how you can say its the most disappointing game in your life yet you've never even opened it or tried it just beggars belief ! What a statement.
If you actually open it, patch it and play it you'll find an engrossing, immersive sci fi tale with some incredible moments in it. Then perhaps you'll be able to develop your OWN opinion on it
@ATaco the only reason Sony are keeping it off the store is because it highlighted their own non existent refund policy. There's lots of crap on the store that got the green light
@Agramonte The game isn't selling tons anymore on PC; overall sales stalled for a while now in that platform as well. Most of that game sales came from per-orders and the first couple of months.
@KingPev I'm pretty sure they gave anyone who wanted it a refund on the game. Fact of the matter is that Cyberpunk is still almost literally broken on PS4, despite what the few people who apparently have "perfect experiences" might say. They're the lucky minority.
@KingPev you’re right, as of a few days ago, months after launch, there’s an above average chance the game is playable enough to enjoy. My copy of Skyrim is still lodged in my launch PS3 after the 900th game breaking glitch finally bricked it, so you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t have the stomach to slog through any more bug riddled half baked pc ports. I’m quite confident I’ll love the game when I actually play it, I’m just massively disappointed that CDPR would put out an unplayable mess then take months to fix it. And yes, I haven’t played a single minute of it; I’m just going off the universal criticism and hundreds of YouTube videos. I’d rather not risk something happening to my ps5, not like I can go down to the corner store and grab a new one. A triple A full priced game being released in such a state that Sony doesn’t feel comfortable offering it for sale on their store is totally unprecedented so I feel that I’m justified in waiting. Just one mans opinion.
@Niktaw ....looking at the overall posts I think I've been very lucky in not having anything gamebreaking so far, it WAS very buggy initially but the patches made a huge difference. I'm sure the PS5 edition will be great, I just couldn't wait.
Oh and have you tried Skyrim Special Edition on PS4 ? Its perfect ! It's dirt cheap now too
Cyberpunk on PS4.
GreatnessServiceability awaits!@KingPev I haven’t yet, if I could transfer my PS3 save I’d be in. Still one of the coolest games ever. Can’t wait for Cuberpunk.
Well I guess I can wait actually lol.
This game, as it is, cannot exist on the last gen consoles without sacrifices. If anyone thinks that its just going to be bug fixes and they will magically pull another 15-20 FPS out of thin air; they are deluding themselves. The only way this game gets playable on last gen systems is if it gets seriously neutered in the process.
Nay bothered.
Got Mass Effect coming in a couple of weeks, that'll be a time sink.
End of year, PS5 patch for Cyberpunk then I'll play it. Or next year, not fussed.
Free game anyway due to CDPR refund for physical. 👍
I've probably asked this before but I can't remember the answer. If everyone owns the same game, and plays it on the same console (lets just say PS4 Pro for arguments sake), how is everyone not experiencing the same bugs etc?! How can one person say it ran terribly and one person say they've never experienced any game breaking bugs???
@tomassi
One reason is that when a PS4 is made, it's built in many different locations. Each location has the specs they need to meet, but are allowed to use different brands of hardware, as long as they end up at the same speed, etc. So even if we both have a PS4, we may not have the same set up under the hood.
Another reason may be linked to the game itself, such as what order you do the quests in, how powerful you are when you get there, what you've experienced before you got there, etc. So one path may lead to a bug, while the other may be smooth sailing.
@LordSteev Thanks, that makes sense!
@tomassi
No problem!
