Well, this is one way to release a game: just never date it at all. The native PlayStation 5 version of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now around the world, not that EA has bothered to tell anyone about it. Physical copies arrived at retailers unannounced earlier this week, and we’d expected a date to be revealed during Summer Game Fest: Kickoff Live. Alas, there was no confirmation during Geoff Keighley’s shindig, but the port is very much out today.
If you already own the game then you’ll be eligible for a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade. And that’s about all we can tell you until footage starts appearing online from third-party sources – early impressions are that it runs smoothly and looks sharp, but we’ll BRB because we’re going to have to use our imagination here.
Anyway, yes: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – it’s out now on PS5.

I was wondering why it looked better earlier...
Soooo any cool haptics and triggers?
Slightly confused as it's telling me to rebuy it even though I have it on ea play already, I assume maybe the ps5 version isn't available with ea play?
Is it available for a digital upgrade?
@hoffa007 Sadly, it seems EA Play won't upgrade.
I purchased and completed it a few months back when the game got a 60fps/1200p patch (presume a boost mode feature) and was for the most part, perfectly happy with that, so I wonder what new things would be on this native PS5 version...
Maybe better streaming in of assets and haptics?
Vibrations are worse. 60 FPS is nice but doesn't appear stable on the first planet. Can't make out a huge difference in resolution between performance and non-performance, but that might be my TV? Load times are faster. Transferring my save was a snap. You can delete your PS4 version before installing the PS5 version and it'll simply ask you if you want to transfer your save when you boot it up.
I own this game on my PS4 Pro haven't even played it yet, trying to finish off some other game's first. Got my PS5 yesterday so I will probably play this & get the platinum, then platinum it again in the PS4 at a later date.
Nice, 60 fps is great but I really want faster loading time, jedi fo loading time is horrible.
Edit: Downloading it now, how about the save file? Do I need to upload the save file like spider-man and ff7 remake intergrade?
Edit.2: Holy heck my ps5 storage is only 4.13GB now.
@nofriendo Oh, good news! I thought I would have to start over
Got it for a tenner off ebay and waited for this to arrive. Will pop it in now to download while im working. Appreciate the heads up folks.
@get2sammyb ahh, well it makes sense to me really.
@WizzNL for sure, well maybe in the future hopefully.
@nofriendo I also see no visual differences between 30fps and 60fps. Odd. Reflections are still screen space only, no ray tracing upgrade, unfortunately. Trophies are automatically unlocked as well, so if you got the Platinum on PS4, you’ll get the Platinum on PS5. It unlocked for me when I reached the first meditation spot in Bogano.
@WizzNL @hoffa007 The Series X|S version is available on EA Play over on Microsoft side of the fence. I already owned the game (played on Xbox One X), so that doesn't affect me, but it is available for those who don't.
Smart Delivery FTW!
Downloading now and they say you need 102GB free!
Man EA are bad at optimisation.
Just installed Ratchet & Clank and that was 33-34GB
@wiiware Tell me about it. I have had to transfer games to my external SSD due to the lack of space. Sony needs to hurry up and update the firmware so we can play from external.
@Perryg92 102 GB is including the PS4 version. Seems like its 53.83 GB.
Ok then, great, thanks for the heads-up.
@get2sammyb I fully expect EA to cash in on this within 18 months or so with a current-gen upgrade tier, whenever there are enough games out to warrant it. £3.99 a month I think for EA Play? £6.99 a month to include current gen upgrades etc. I think they'd be daft not to.
@nofriendo any idea if it pops the trophies if you have the ps4 platinum?
And since there was no article reminding people yesterday, the Intergrade upgrade for Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been out! And it’s fantastic!
(Also a bit of a pain to do so an article would have been nice explaining it)
@W0rl0ck No direct experience of it as the PS5 is my first ever Playstation and my first play-through of Fallen Order was on an Xbox. I only just started a play-through on PS5 when I learned of the impending free upgrade and so I paused right after the intro, basically. But per @helbertpina above, it looks like your trophies do transfer.
@wiiware Mine comes in at 47.12 GB after getting rid of the PS4 version.
@luisterr Yup, I want to buy at least 1TB nvme 4 storage for ps5. Ps5 games can't be played on external drive because most external drive is sata and not nvme 2.0 if I remember correctly.
@nofriendo I still keep my ps4 version until I'm sure I can continue from my ps4 save file. I guess I'll have about 40GB free on my ps5 after I delete the ps4 version.
If anyone is stuck on how to upload saves like I was, download your PS4 game to the console, the Ps5 should pick it up when you start the game.
@nofriendo cool thanks for the reply, i noticed the other comment. Good to know
Just saying ea was hacked yesterday and jedi fallen order source code is probably being leaked on the Internet right now.
You’ve got to be ***** me if they removed the game from EA Play…I can’t even download the PS4 version at the moment. Hopefully this will be rectified.
EDIT: It seems to be fixed. The PS4/PS5 version is free with EA Access.
It's weird you can't get the PS5 version through EA Play, this seems more like an oversight on EA's part, because you can get the PS5 versions of sports games.
I've got the disc copy and transferred my save over hoping for a free Platinum, but it only popped the one trophy, which was for having a full crew. Looks like this is more like Borderlands 3 than Miles Morales, which is a shame, because I don't think I can be arsed to play it in full again
@W0rl0ck not for me, although I only briefly tried. Loaded up my platinum save and just got the one trophy pop, going to have a play around later and see if doing certain things forces a pop of any. I reckon it's Borderlands 3 again though, something wonky that only makes the odd one work
Cool downloading it just now. Hope it is not like borderlands or mortal kombat 11 which also only gave some trophies.
There is a FAQ with the info
https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/jedi-fallen-order/news/next-gen-release-details
Also, great to see a Free upgrade and a reduced $39 launch price. This price is even with upgrades.
@Dislecksier looks like you need to use meditation point to pop trophies.
I preferred the ps3/PS4/vita shared lists to be honest
@adrianthealchemist I though the mining craze is over. In the end I think it's cheaper to just buy external sata ssd for ps5 and move all the ps4 games to the sata ssd.
@Dislecksier ok so i loaded up ps5 version and when i meditated it popped all the trophies
I have the PS4 disc, I liked the game and did finish it. Will play again if can find a PS5 at some point.
If it's that easy to implement a PS4 to PS5 save data transfer, why's it taking so long for Wreckfest?
Played it on release, enjoyed it but not enough to slog through the campaign and find all the collectibles again.
@W0rl0ck popped all but one for me, hasn't given me the BD-1 encrypted file one
Happy to hear the PS5 upgrade is finally out! Weird that it was shadow dropped though, with no announcements.
@WizzNL @get2sammyb the ps5 version is now available on EA Play.
