Publisher and developer Rockstar Games has announced it'll be showing off more of GTA 6 very soon.
Later this month, on 27th August 2026, an official extended look will debut via Netflix, as teased in the below post.
"See an extended look at 'Grand Theft Auto VI', the next evolution in the groundbreaking 'Grand Theft Auto' series," reads the official blurb on the Netflix website.
While the extended look will premiere on Netflix, it will also be made available via YouTube and the GTA 6 website six hours later.
Here's a schedule of when it's going live and where:
Netflix Premiere
- North America: 12pm PDT / 1pm MDT / 2pm CDT / 3pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 8pm BST
- Europe: 9pm CEST / 10pm EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 4am (Fri) JST / 3am (Fri) AWST / 5am (Fri) AEST
YouTube and GTA 6 Website
- North America: 6pm (Thu) PDT / 7pm (Thu) MDT / 8pm (Thu) CDT / 9pm (Thu) EDT
- UK/Ire: 2am BST
- Europe: 3am CEST / 4am EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 10am JST / 9am AWST / 11am AEST
This will be our first proper look at the game in action after having only seen a couple of trailers so far. We'll all finally get to see what the game looks like as you're playing it.
The fact this makes its debut via Netflix is an unprecedented move, but I suppose it makes sense given the sheer scale of this game's momentum and the excitement around it.
Are you gonna watch via Netflix or wait for it to appear online later? Tell us in the comments section below.

Insane that this on Netflix lmao
@get2sammyb #monopoly, netflix positioning itself as a gaming platform more and more, because they can.
Rockstar just fully taking the p*ss now. The most profitable trolls in history.
Netflix account needed now just to see it 😂 The hype might of got to them.
Rockstar will show an extended look at GTA VI. The game itself doesn't show anything
The sad thing is, this will probably be the most viewed thing on Netflix this year.
Like getting robbed by a sweet old lady in a motorized cart, I do not see that one coming.
I played San Andreas on Netflix at a point on my phone when I was bored in an airport. It was pretty good actually... Cant blame them, they have the ressources and there's a market.
"Subscribe to see a game trailer." Nope. No thanks.
via netflix? lol wow. ill always hate that gaming became mainstream
How much did Netflix pay for this? lmoa
Putting it on Netflix is just stupid!
Would be a good to shadowdrop gta4 remaster on Netflix...
@Mr-Cage not for Netflix. 🤑
It's weird that I won't play this on release after all the recent sh@thousery. I'll get it on sale eventually, but I have to stick to my principles. I just wish enough people had the minerals to not pre-order this Trojan horse of a game.
Selling an advertisement to Netflix just highlights how much further they've lost their way. Netflix are paying Rockstar to show and advert for a game that everyone is already going to buy anyway. Just think about how ridiculous that is for a second.
It all but confirms a streamed version of the game on Netflix is in the works. Sony should be more worried about their future if this actually is the case. I kind of hope they announce some kind of GTA6 Online exclusivity for Netflix just to see the fallout.
It's fascinating that so many people are OK with all these recently actions. It's shown me how completely out of touch I am now, and how easily everyone is led. It happens to everyone eventually I suppose.
@Icey664 whatever it took, and it will pay back 100 fold.
@get2sammyb I wonder if it's on Netflix...
1. Because the quality is a lot better than YouTube
2. Because someone seems to have a backdoor to YouTube and keeps leaking details from trailers on there
3. Because they have a marketing deal
#3 probably most likely but could be all three!
My dad's got a Netflix subscription so I technically have access to this, but I find it so utterly scummy to lock a mere game presentation behind a service that I won't even watch it.
Amazing how they manage to keep making this game less and less appealing before properly showing anything about it, just by surrounding it with bafflingly greedy fluff which bodes terribly for the content itself.
People need to calm down. This will be ripped from Netflix the minute it goes live and put all over the internet to watch without a sub or waiting for a later date, lol.
@biggestlozer28 Im sure the trailer will be on YouTube soon after but yes money rules everything!
@Gaia093 yup greed works in mysterious ways... Not...
@Mr-Cage just think of it as a netflix marketing campaign. Its cheap from their perspective.
This is low Rockstar, LOW. I have absolutely nothing to do with Netflix cause I hardly watch movies, as a gamer I need to be a movie fan to watch game trailers now...it's like telling movie people to come watch a movie trailer on a PSN account. Fuc** low! R* will dip their own YT views when others record from Netflix and put it out earlier on their YT channels.
@For-Kier Don't try and bring logic and common sense into this. We want hysterical moaning and bitching!!
Digital only again! I want it on disc or I’m not watching.
The best part for me was the fact that I wasn't surprised at all when I read this news. It made sense from a capitalist standpoint and the way the industry is going. It seemed fitting, in a sad and sorry way...
My prediction: It'll play like a GTA5 add-on pack.
Bigger, clearer, a few more features... but uncompromisingly built on a familiar foundation.
@biggestlozer28 Spreading the money around themselves huh.
I just hope the game won't be a huge let down after all of this!
Time Will tell.
Lol a Netflix exclusive trailer. Definitely never seen something like that before. I'll happily just wait for it on YouTube.
@nicc83 thats the way
@For-Kier Yep. Nail on the head. Youtube will probably take down every rip of it though. You'll need to go somewhere like Kick.
Netflix? LMAO. Wonder what Sony are thinking about that!
I would have thought they would be the main marketing partner, not that I care in the slightest about it, but I wonder if the Sony brand is so toxic now that more devs will showcase their own stuff in their own way to avoid all the anti-Sony comments.
Ha jokes on them, my netflix subscription has lapsed and I've already watched everything I wanted so won't renew. I'll watch the trailer when it releases on youtube. No big deal tbh
No thanks, bro.
@Mr-Cage my advice here is keep your expectations low. Its clear it will sell insanely regardless if it being good or bad. Its clear that all studios will follow and increase their prices after this, and its clear im unclear whether I will buy this or not lol (most likely not tbh). It feels wrong and so many other good (better?) games releasing this fall...
Is a Netflix subscription required?
@themightyant now that you mention it, it could prob be a combo of all of those reasons. The YouTube leaks is a huge one I never thought of. That definitely happens more than publishers and devs would like I bet.
@PaperAlien no, Sony just can’t monetise this in the way Netflix are able to.
And off course people already complaining you need to pay to see it and need a netflix account, but its also on YouTube a little later, its even in the article but i guess ppl stopped reading to complain first in the comments.
@PaperAlien I mean, I suspect the Netflix video will be filled with PS5 logos...
Surprised how many people whinging about this. I’ve had a continuous Netflix subscription since 2012. Yes no discs sucks but I’ll still be playing the Ultimate Edition day one on my PS5 Pro.
Well at least it's Netflix and not Pornhub. 🤷🏼
@Nalim exactly , 6 hours later on YouTube and people are acting like rockstar stabbed their mom. What were they supposed to do , decline the money netflix no doubt came to them and offered for basically nothing ?
While most (all?) here are very negative on this, I see two things: For one, it is exclusive for only six hours. If you do not perish of FOMO, everyone will be fine.
On the other side ... I remember when GTA V adds were running in the cinema back before release. And that was a huge moment in terms of acceptance of video games. That they are cool. Not just a toy for kids or hardcore nerds. Or that us gamers are not all psychopaths that will commit crimes (which is ironic concerning GTA). It was a moment of gaming becoming and being a visable part of society. So I think this is a huge and super cool thing.
Weird thing for Netflix to be spending what is likely an ungodly amount of money on is my only thoughts on this. Feel like i shouldnt watch it to dissuade them from thinking this is money well spent.
All the series they constantly kill before they ever get going and yet they're spending copious amounts of money on this and trash reality TV and wrestling.
While it's a bit mad that a game trailer is premiering on Netflix it is a timed exclusive and only by 6hrs so I don't see the big deal. Just wait 6hrs and watch it on YouTube for free, you haven't had GTA6 gameplay to look at your whole life up to this point so what's another 6hrs?
To be fair, this is genius from all three parties. Bravo
I think I’ll wait the 6 additional hours.
@JoDoMac Most sensible comment on the thread. (Though I'll probably wait 12 hours until the following day).
F**k me, a 6 hour Netflix exclusive 😂😂😂😂
What is the world coming to?
I have Netflix as I seemingly can't get rid of it, as its given away with everything these days. Serious question, does anyone here actually pay fully for Netflix?
Honestly wild. This game is wild.
@Bluemoon2008 it’s possible Take Two isn’t spending anything but it’s doing this as it sets a great marketing opportunity. This has never been done before and will help widen the GTA conversation outside gaming circles.
Very interesting! I wasn’t expecting this partnership at all. Hopefully we see actual gameplay now!
I mean, its 6 a hour delay from YouTube - Netflix have likely paid a fortune to get early access to it.
Either way, i'll be watching it on my Firestick.
Cough.
I'm guessing Netflix still does free trials?
airing the day after Gamescom damn poor Geoff 😭
I'm curious as to whether we will see proper 'gameplay' for GTA 6 here or just multiple in-engine cutscenes stitched together to give the illusion of gameplay but all will be revealed at the end of August I suppose XD
also yes I know I'm being very cynical here but after GTA 6 effectively kicked the door down on an all-digital future for PlayStation, I have very little positive to say about it other than 'it looks nice' 💀
@PaperAlien Sony probably feels nothing. At the start of the year, Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced a landmark, industry-first global Pay-1 licensing agreement.
So any increase viewership on Netflix is a massive benefit for Sony. Cause you have to sign up for at least a month… and within that month you could be interested in watching any number of Sony films and TVs shows like kpop demon hunters
I do have Netflix but I'm not going to use it just to bump their numbers when I can wait six hours and bump some traffic here instead. Providing there is an article, and all of that feedback from actual gamers. I'm looking for a reason to want to buy the game.
Too much is already paywalled for the player, demos, online play, now some footage of a franchise they've probably supported their whole lives and helped put Rockstar where they are today. I can see why they are choosing Netflix but I don't like it.
The crazy kinds of people who might hang around a Rockstar parking-lot counting cigarette butts trying to predict the date? They will probably buy a subscription just to see it, or use that same drone they were using to spy into Rockstar's offices on their neighbours TV screen.
@biggestlozer28 I'm definitely going to buy it but what I've seen so far from the game with those fashion shoot screenshots of clothes and no gameplay I'm doubting weather I could like the tone they could go for this game everything kinda looks saints row the third to me in vibes!
I love the saints row series but for different reasons to GTA.
I don't want a game that just panders to teenage boys.
I currently have no plans to buy this game, but I can’t deny that I’m absolutely gonna sit on my couch and watch this!
I have an Netflix sub but I'll wait the five minutes to watch this on YouTube to prove a point mostly to myself haha 😂
@carlos82 Unfortunately, I do pay fully for Netflix. 🫠
$26.99/month for Premium with an extra $7.99/month for Extra member (with ads) because of my elderly parents.
But I watch so much Netflix… the $34 a month pays for itself.
I love how unpredictable Rockstar's marketing beats are. Netflix? 😂
I will be checking that out, though
@get2sammyb See, now this is what happens when you bully companies into not having paid early access editions of their games, they have to make it up by having paid early access to their trailers. It’s all your fault. 😂
So hilarious decision😂
I wonder what will come of this?
@Fizza They have beef with Geoff and rightly so after RDR2 was robbed in 2018 😆. I don't think R* are even expecting GOTY for GTA6 from...Geoff.
Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if Netflix’s buys Xbox.
Lol. Sony paid a lot for the exclusive marketing and the first gameplay not even premier on their channel 😂
How much did Netflix have to fork over for this🤣
@GirlVersusGame same for me - I know it'll be a fun game, but I'm just not feeling the hype.
It'll be an entertaining game, very entertaining, but I'm not pumped about the world, story, don't expect any great evolvements in gameplay or mechanics from 5.
Happy to be wrong, maybe it will be revolutionary and the greatest game this generation, but I'm much more excited by the potentially ropey Dawnwalker, or the likely 10-ish hour new Onimusha
@84sheepdog "Little old lady... little old LAAADY!!!!" 😄😄
@For-Kier they have ready said its coming to youtube 6 hours later so i dont see the big deal they probably chose to show it on netflix becuase it wint leak there and they get paid for it too.
@PaperAlien Rockstar could not care in the slightest about Sony’s physical disc online problems. They are selling only digital by choice only on consoles.
I imagine the Netflix announcement is hype for the mainstream and casual audience that hasn’t looked at a gaming website in years.
its everywhere else 6 hours later - the crying over six ***** hour wait is peak entitled baby nonsense.
60 fps or no deal..
I'm surprised early access to the first look wasn't included in the Ultimate Edition.
I understand what R* gets from this but what do netflix get from this? I know people are stupid but are they really so stupid that they will pay for a subscription to watch a trailer six hours early? Maybe it gets already paying subscribers back to get eyes on their shows? I can't imagine this being cheap for Netflix.
"Here's when to see it first on Netflix" - never a thought past my mind that is what I would read regarding a game presentation and showcase in the near future.
Rockstar really are going all in on digital first as a priority, even showcasing their game on a platform that's helped to batter down the physical film landscape.
What an odd combination of sorts. Hope both companies get their pound of flesh for the partnership.
Anyway, despite having Netflix I'll very much not want them to take into account I have watched it there, so I'll slap it on YouTube later on that day or the following etc.
@VenomUK I was suggesting Netflix were paying not take two, would make no sense for them to pay Netflix to host it when they can reach and bigger audience for free on their own socials. Netflix will have paid a big fee to get this exclusive window.
@Hyena_socks I think the way I played them had something to do with the lack of hype too. I played all of them from Playstation One up to the PS5 (for the first time) in couple of weeks. All of the PS2 addons too like Liberty City Stories/Vice City Stories and by the time I got to Grand Theft Auto 5 something felt really different, almost restrictive and a little too serious. There were no decades of separation, it was experiencing all of those limitations and leaps in such a short time. I came away from the experience realizing that my favorite game in the franchise was decades old. Five had a lot of attention to detail and great music, but didn't feel like those other games. Nostalgia is a powerful thing, I had none going in.
I really would like to be proven wrong about this new one. Part of it would just be being able to be on the same page as a lot of people. I rarely play new titles, I'm too busy trying all of those older ones, I like the history of a franchise and recently played through the Driver series, Burnout and a couple of others. I'll be on the lookout for your feedback on the day. I'm curious to see if we'll both have been won over, or not. It's strange not having pre-ordered such a major part of gaming history, even stranger not feeling the need to.
Then I wonder if someone did pre-order that game through their console then why not provide a link through that same account to that same footage? Apparently getting to see what you paid for is also paywalled. It's hard to like Rockstar at the moment.
Oh good. Something else for the 'gaming community' to get upset about because there definitely isn't enough futile whining going on at the moment.
I get that this is a huge game, but there's just something sleazy about paywalling a gameplay reveal behind a subscription service. Only six hours of exclusivity, but still, it doesn't sit right with me.
Putting it on netflix first sucks big willy's. I'll wait 6 more hours.
Grand theft auto the goat 🐐 👑 this gameplay is going to be incredible. Word up son
Don't have Netflix so guess I'll wait 6 hours
@Dodoo wonder how much Netflix payed for 6 hours of exclusivity of gameplay lol
Exciting times
Is this another case of people not reading anything beyond the headline? The gameplay presentation isn't locked behind a subscription. It's coming to YouTube six hours after the Netflix premiere. Calm down and wind your necks in 🤣
Luckily we’ve recently had a virgin internet package that includes Netflix so there we are. Me and my mates are going to do a watch a long together. Gaaaaaaay 😬
@Sunraku I wonder if it's a UK thing then, as here it's seemingly always included with the main TV subscriptions in Sky or Virgin Media, I even had it included with my mobile contract for some time
@zebric21 if they reveal a 60fps mode utilising pssr that would be an absolute megaton for me 🚨. This will also be the first digital game I’ve purchased for a very long time but always was going too as the Mrs wants a copy of it and I’m not buying it twice lol. Literally the only good thing about digital (until Sony bans account sharing ofc)
In all honesty, I'm not surprised it's on Netflix first knowing Rockstar.
Does it actually mention gameplay anywhere because i don't see it
@carlos82 I mean. We have companies who offer Netflix at a bundled price. But that is a scam. It usually the worse version of Netflix (Standard with ads), and usually requires you to be paying for that companies most premium offering. So like with T-mobile. I would need to be paying $100+ 1 Line a month (not including monthly phone bill) to get Netflix included in the bundle.
My currently phone bill with T-Mobile is $55 a month. That mean I can easily just sub to the Premium Netflix, and overall be paying less than if I just bundle with T-mobile.
No physical release, stupidly expensive, no gameplay shown till a month before release and said gameplay debuting on Netflix.
It’s like Rockstar just calculated this to be completely unappealing on every possible level.
Video game trailer being shown first on Netflix. Things are really changing aren’t they?
I might out of curiosity. Wonder how much Netflix paid to get it first.
Can't bloody wait!!!
Sorry if this post is too positive for some.
The way they dragging this ***** is getting annoying, i mean wasnt the release Date in May, and then they pushed it back, its August the game comes out in 3 months and they still have to do red carpet ***** for a video game they already have a billion in preorders from... bruhhh
@ApostateMage nice to see some positivity - this site holds the most miserable whiners online, sadly.
@Jswift56 not true. You can watch it on Netflix a few hours later. Calm down.
Every article on this site is just people outraged about nothing. Now people are moaning about where the trailer is uploaded.
I swear there could be an article stating that Nintendo were giving free switches to everyone and the comments would be full of people screaming NINTENDO SUCKS!
I think we suck people,....... we suck
@ApostateMage Don't apologise for being happy. I have never seen so many miserable people talking about their "Hobby" as on this site.
"Wah, no physical, no buy"
"Wah,Game of the year, but it has a microtransaction
"Wah, The game has a women in it"
"Wah, I love this series but will wait for a sale"
"Wah, Sony is a business who wants to make money"
They drive me crazy! If you have the time to be this upset about your hobby, then perhaps a long look in the mirror is needed
