I like PSVR, but only for 20 minutes at a time. Plus my wife has been watching me play video games for 30 years, since FF7, and me having a helmet on my head is a bit too divisive for the mood.

I think people overall prefer to just kick back and relax with games, VR is a commitment for the chosen few. The tech does keep getting better so some day it could go mainstream stream. When it’s just a pair of glasses gaming off your phone. The future is cyber.

@somnambulance I think I’m fortunate that I never played Genshin so I’m not burnt out yet but NTE and ANANTA look really close. The picture here is just the main protagonist Zero from NTE. (I think I liked Spideman 2 more than most b/c I skipped 1)

Ok I think I see the problem. You’re saying 8k tvs will never be a thing b/c consumers can’t see 8K, which is probably true, but companies no longer sell things to make consumers happy (the class war is over, we lost) companies sell things to make their shareholders happy.

If you like at the prices of 4K TVs they have been coming down fast. They keep getting bigger to keep the prices up, but at some point they’ll reach the home front door limit and max out, probably somewhere around 120” (ours is 75” and I can’t get any bigger down the stairs to my man cave). So sure, for now we get better screens, faster variable rates, more bells & whistles. But at some point in the next 5 or 10 years the manufacturers will run out of things to sell, so 8k it will be.

It’s not a matter of wanting it or needing it, it’s a matter of buying what they sell us. And when all TVs 75” or larger are 8k, well that’s what people will buy. Just like people now who hate streaming still buy smart TVs b/c they have no choice. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The fact that you said all that and still basically ended with rather get a PC than a PS6 I think exemplifies the problem Sony is going to have selling a PS6.

Games sell hardware, not the other way round, and it’s going to take a lot of game running at all those high end numbers you wrote to not be able to run on a PS5 at the low end numbers.

Worst case scenario you get an Xbox X-S problem, where the S is holding games back. PS5 will be holding PS6 games back a bit, but a PS5 is more powerful than a Series S. Worst case scenario Sony can skip PS5 for the Pro. No law says PS6 games have to run on both or neither, they can make a Pro version.

How bout this, Sony needs to sell a PS6 to keep shareholders happy more than to keep gamers happy. 🤑

Half the people here already seem confused by NTE and Ananta basically looking like the same game, myself included, and judging by my IG feed there are plenty more like it either already out there or on the way. And to some people they all just look like Genshin anyway.

So if you can’t edit this 1 - I did correctly guess Ananta but probably b/c I was just discussing it with my wife over the weekend as we get ready for the NTE season 1.3 update dropping tonight - can you please starting adding game names to the article titles in the future? @Olmaz You forgot Tides of Annihilation which I only remember b/c for awhile I thought 1 game was called “Lost Soul Aside: Tides of Annihilation”. Also awhile back in a SoP they showed off a bunch of those with the Lies of P dlc, forget the name, and it also looked very similar.

I’ve been making very similar comments for about 18 months now. It’s really bad for me b/c I’m old and can’t remember things any more so besides them all looking somewhat alike I can’t recall any of their names well enough to know which is which.

I can remember Where Winds Meet b/c it’s free to play, but I can’t recall the name of the 1 with the Giant Rooster that looks like Heavenly Sword and that’s the only 1 I really want to play. Might be one of the “Project” titled games, I feel like there were at least 3 games with Project in the title.

I’m not sure if GameFreaks Beast of Reincarnation looks similar but the 3 word title fits the mold. I wish that was the giant rooster game name, I kinda like it. Oh well. At least GoW Laufey and Wolverine I can remember. And “Intergalactic”, but I might be missing a word or 2 in that title.🤷🏻‍♂️

This is tempting me to go back in, as was the paid mode going free to play, but it’s been so long since I was out, after playing nearly every day for like 3 years, I’m not sure I could play competitively anymore. Not that I was any good at it, but winning 1 out of every 7 or 8 matches at least kept me entertained. It’s slipping away now though.

You people need to enjoy gaming more, all the games, don’t pigeon hole yourself in. Time is undefeated and some day you’ll find you simply can’t. It’s a skill issue that comes for us all eventually.😢

They should launch the PS6 when 8K TVs start to become the norm. Until then continue to promote the difference in their games between PS5 and PS5 Pro. I don’t think any new PS6 hardware is going to be capable of producing a game that the PS5 can’t run that justifies the price of the PS6. The PS5 is nearly $1,000.

I suppose another way to look at it is the PC comparison. Are there currently PC games that the PS5 can’t run? Sony probably can’t afford to fall too far behind PC power as fans are already mad about discs going away, and paying to play online keeps getting more expensive. So I suppose Sony needs a new PS6 when games like FIFA (ok FC whatever), Madden and CoD can only run on new PC hardware but not PS5.

But until then, why rebuild the hardware when they don’t have to?

Is this another 2 hour show after the 30 minute pre-show? I really don’t have time for that. If he announced it’s another 40 minutes after the 30 maybe I’d make it my lunch hour.

I was reading the title thinking this article was going to be about “Intergalactic” and how much fun the “no physical games after 2027” comments were going to be. Realized my mistake just as I was getting ready to go make some popcorn.😂

You know me @get2sammyb I’m not really a big tech guy, (that’s what Bamoozy is here for) not sure if I can tell the difference between 30 or 60 fps, and I’ve never had a screen that can run 40fps so I don’t even know what that looks like, and I’m never splurging on any “Pro” console just to play these same games I already can. But, while reading the article, before I even got to @sanderson72 post, I was left asking myself “Is this running at 900p, 1080p. 1440p, or 4k?”. Not b/c I really care, not b/c I’ll be able to tell the difference anyway, but b/c that info is just always naturally in there. So it seemed like a big glaring omission.

So when they asked “At what resolution” I read it as “Why isn’t this very basic knowledge that everyone is going to want to know in the article.” The article felt incomplete. Not b/c I care, not b/c I can tell, but b/c it’s always there, but it wasn’t, and it hurt my brain. Like if you said “We spotted the lost aircraft, it’s at 47’ longitude”. People’s brains are going to want to read the latitude, whether they care about the plane or not.

tldr, FPS & resolution are a package deal, shouldn’t give 1 w/o the other. 😁

I’m still on the fence. I want to play it, but I still have this hangup about game length and cost. I know it’s $70, but have no idea how long it is. It’s looking like Nathan Drake with claws, which is fine, but if it’s under 10 hours I’ll wait.

Also doesn’t help they just announced the Ghost of Yotei Collectors Editions for $70, releasing the same day as the dlc, so maybe I wait a year and I save $15 and get the completed game.

Just bought the first 3 game collection for my kid to play, it’s $80 but was on sale for $8 or $9 so seemed worth it. I played 1 back in the day on PS3 and half of 2, stopped when it got all gun play focused, but 3 looked a little hardcore for me. Maybe the kid will finish all 3 by then.

Announcing the Complete Edition at the same time as the dlc seems kinda weird. I feel like they should have given original game owners time to play it, since they already bought the game, for a few months before the complete edition comes out, otherwise you are telling your paying customers PLEASE WAIT TO BUY THE COMPLETE EDITION DO NOT BUY OUR GAME AT LAUNCH OR YOU MAY REGRET IT.

My kid is about 3/4 done, so the timing isn’t bad for us, we’ll see what they want to do in October. I’m guessing ignore this, saves us $15. Maybe I’ll spend the $10 on the PS5 upgrade of Darksiders Warmastered instead, they’re starting that next. Probably neither though.

While $649 seems obscene for a 5yo console I was very surprised, in a good way, that the console at least comes with the $70 game and the $85 controller.

Neither the controller nor the console having “snikt” written out on them somewhere leaves me disappointed though.

I’ll probably never pay for PS+ Premium or buy a Portal, but I am always happily surprised when I turn on my iPad in a hotel room and can play my PS5 games remotely using my PS5 controller. I got a good deal on my new iPad, and traded in my old own, and basically use it as a PC now, even got a cheap keyboard, so to be able to game on my PS5 on the go with basically no additional cost is really all I need.

And I’m still impressed that the tech works well enough. Now if only more hotels would let me cast to tv I’d be set, but on my lap in the bed the iPad screen is good enough for short play sessions.

@ShogunRok Any chance you have a similar take on the 2 Spiderman games? I didn’t play the first game, went from Miles Morales to 2, and I really enjoyed them both. But from what I read most people didn’t like 2 after playing 1 b/c it was an inferior cut & paste sequel. Guess I’m just wondering if you had played Yotei BEFORE Tsushima if you’d still feel the same way. Sequels are hard to pull off.🤷🏻‍♂️

I played Tsushima and the dlc, I’m watching my kid play Yotei, and I think I like Yotei more. I really got sick of Jin’s “But is this the samurai way?” crappola early on, and it just never went away. I know that was the point of the game, but I wasn’t a fan. It also feels more streamlined. The coin minigame is harmless. I like her bro.

I guess ultimately for me it’s basically the same game, but w/ a better protagonist, story and plot. They’d probably both get the same grade though, like 9/10, so not that different.

@get2sammyb Looks like more stuff I won’t be playing more than once or twice but I am really looking forward to the story chapter, that takes place before the JRPG chapter we just got, which was pretty good.

At least I thought it was good until the recent Infinity Nikki update which is pretty insane. I think I’ve played entire games just the size of Heavens Reach. And it’s so 3D and layered. My wife and I haven’t stopped being impressed by the graphics (playing on OG PS5. And the story is fairly meaty. And I still don’t think I could spend money on it even if I wanted too. Happy for all the clothes addicts supporting this game. I want NTE to be my favorite gacha, but it has a long way to catch up to Nikki. I basically gave up on 7DSO, no time.

Forgot about Duskfade, b/c I forget everything 30 seconds after it happens these days, but it does still look really good. $30 or $24 w/ PS+ (I didnt look closely but I’ll assume Essential) is nice.

I’m probably going to watch 1 of my kids play this and then just retire from gaming entirely. My 2nd ever modern game was FF7, first was Parasite Eve, it’s been a good run. I owned Pong and an Atari and the like before that but watching those Parasite Eve commercials on tv was what got me back into gaming after about a decade or so off. Grad school is tough on time and the wallet.

It’s part 3, at this point I can’t imagine there are a whole lot of people wondering if they’ll play it or not based on what they show at Gamescon. A year would be nice. Say 2027. Just say it.

Bautista said he didn’t want to play Drax anymore b/c he didn’t want to be naked and painted, which is what playing Kratos would entail.

I think slimmed down and old as he is makes him a good fit for the role, but everyone will be complaining he isn’t big enough, b/c they’ll be thinking of PS3 Kratos and not old man Kratos.

He also seems like he wants to do more “comedic” type roles these days, at least the last few I’ve seen him in, and Kratos may be old, thin and gray, but he basically has no sense of humor. I mean sure him just saying “Boy” all the time is funny but I don’t think it’s supposed to be.

@sanderson72 We have 5 PS5 controllers for basically 2 gamers, red, white, black, blue, purple, mostly b/c the red drifts a bit and the purple is unusable the drift is really just broken. The other 3 for 2 people b/c the battery life is so bad I felt I needed a spare to get through a gaming session.

My PS4 controllers are just fine after a decade.

How they charge so much for tech with such bad battery life that breaks so often is just nuts. Doesn’t surprise me the consoles keep going up in price. As do the controllers. And hardly any knockoffs to be found either, just $200 Pro controllers. It’s insane.

@get2sammyb I’m afraid why they’re announcing GoW early. It means I’m certainly not playing Laufey until I read that it has its own hard ending, and it’s not just the first half of a story like GoW 2018 that’s just a prologue. Fool me once…

@ATaco I’ve been saying and thinking Laufey is going to be a much shorter game since it was announced, and like you my replies have mostly been people telling me I’m wrong. But while I’d like for us both to be wrong every single piece of info we get is telling me otherwise.

@LogicStrikesAgain I worry it’s too short b/c of how fast the turnaround has been in both the release time between GoW:R and this and the release time between the game’s announcement trailer and its release. Feeling a whole lot like a Miles Morales or Uncharted Lost Legacy situation. Now both MM and ULL were good games, but I don’t think I paid $70 for either one.

I’m fine with 15 hours, though I’d still only want to pay. $50 for that, see Astrobot, but I worry it’s shorter. How much have we seen besides the opening 20 minutes? Anything?

I think they’ve said Wolverine is linear and I feel liek we’ve known about that game for at least 3 years. Though I’m not sure I’ve read about game jungle though, I’m hoping for a long 30 hour. Story in that one, getting to pay as several characters beside Loganto give the game some much needed variety.

Wow that was quick. It does have me worried this game is going to be more linear and on the shorter side than the recent games so I probably won’t be preordering it. Not that I mind a shorter more linear game, but I’m not paying $70 for a 7 hour game.

I’ve only played 2 hours of Splatoon Raiders so far but I fear I may be regretting it soon. But at least that was only $50. And both my kids will probably play it. GoW is a series neither has gotten into, so it’s all on me. And I’m still debating Wolverine day 1. He’s my guy. Only so much coin to go around. Over $3k on my car this week. 🤑

It’s b/c of games like this, and maybe even Intergalactic, that I think Sony should, and will, fall back off of their hard and completely unnecessary hard cutoff date of 1/1/28 for no more PS5 discs. Not saying there won’t be a real hard throttling but I feel like there will be “exceptions”.
