@get2sammyb It's a great time to be a free to play gamer. In the past week both Fortnite and Infinity Nikki updated to new seasons. Nikki is like a whole new game and Fortnite is Fortnite again after the condensed map Simpsons seasons.

With Hoyoverse and the others seemingly non-stop on these it really makes it look like Sony messed up forcing, or maybe just encouraging, so many of it's studios to try to make these types of games rather than story driven single player games that Playstation is known for.

@Silenos Are you playing WWM on PS or PC? I've read OS5 has tech issues compared to PC. I looked at it before it came out then got distracted by Palia which I also haven't started and now I have 4-5 hours of gaming in Dreams to go play. I may never pay for games again. Well after FF7R part 3, that's day 1.

Thanks @Quintumply I haven't played Dreams in forever, not sure I ever installed it in my PS5, but I'm going to give both this and Trip's Voyage a go. I've been playing online multi-player for free online every day on my PS5 for years - Fortnite, Disney Speedstorm, Infinity Nikki. The fact that they're free doesn't help the cause of "You have to pay to play online" which we also don't do on PC or mobile. It's just greed.

Sony putting out a $30 pack for need to pay for the game need to pay to play online Gran Turismo 7 should be all you need to show it's greed. Yes I know the 3.0 update is free, but GT7 should probably jyst be included in PS Essentials at this point. Gaming is getting crazy.

Announcing "gone gold" and "delay" makes me think they really don't understand what "gone gold" means.

Not that anyone in the industry does anymore, more like "gone bronze", then patch it after release to get to silver, celebrate the 1 year anniversary by finally going gold.

Thoughts on the Lin Manuel inspired new Idina Menzel sung theme song? I miss the blatant rip-off of "Jump Up Superstar" but this does feel kind of big and epic now like a proper sequel should. It takes place in the Mushroom Kingdom so that makes up for losing the Nintendo theme song.😂

I somehow missed the original article on Monday but I've been looking forward to this "update" a lot. I put update in quotes b/c it feels as much a sequel as any other long running continuing game series like God of War, Horizon, Spiderman or Uncharted.

I logged on last night but didn't get a chance to even go to "It's a Land" (Mario voice) b/c of reading everything new then doing the first round in the arena, but it's certainly like a new game w/ all the new who stars and fast travel spires to find. Looking forward to it this afternoon after getting back from my wife's birthday brunch at our favorite little coffee spot. We're hosting 20 people for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, and her family tonight for her birthday dinner, so we're just going to spend the afternoon today just chilling w/ Niki and Momo. 😁

@Art_Vandelay Day and date is a no-no for Sony games, but I think a couple of years later is fine. First week sales of big PS5 games are the big ones b/c people are waiting 3-5 years to play it day 1, not wait another year or 2 to play it on PC.

Console sales will end some day. They did for Sega, they did for Nintendo - Switch & Switch 2 are handhelds w/ tv out, Microsoft will stop making Xboxen in a gen or 2. And so will Sony after that.

So selling old games now gets them started on PC for when there are no lore consoles.

I game from my iPad to my TV wireless you, it's easy. If this hardware xan do that now, 10 years from now why do I need a console, or a PC, when I have a phone and a grip like controller?

I'm just waiting for DQ 12. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, if it works if works. Currently playing 3 player "Sea of Stars". Old school JRPG w/ a new school twist.

Cox earlier said he feels weird when people congratulate him on the game b/c he did like a few hours in the afternoon, he said it wasn't even really "work", probably compared to all the actual work he has to do on Daredevil.

How much did it cost them to port some already existing PS5 games to PC vs how much does it cost them to make that $7B per quarter?

$1.2B may not sound like a lot to the handful of people running the world, but if it only costs them a few million to port them, then why not? I doubt there are that many people not buying a PS5 b/c of the late ports.

If I'm wrong and it's costing them $1B to port them then don't, probably not worth the look for a $200 million profit.

An update on Dragon Quest 12 would be nice. Maybe they have to finish remaking 1-11 first. Only about 5 or 6 more to go I guess.

So. Many. Zombies. Games, movies, TV. Sucks for me b/c I'm not a fan. 😝 Even the movie "Sinners", which was a decent remake of "From Dusk til Dawn", basically turned it's vampires into zombies. That's from both my wife and kid as soon as we finished watching it.

Elden Ring was great. I mean I wish it had an easier mode so I could have fought the bosses myself rather than just summoning in other people and watching them do it, but the 100 hours I spent grinding to get to the point where I could start playing the game were great. The best horse travel there ever was or ever will be. But not every game needs to look like it. I don't do souls likes.

I think it's partly Chinese games, partly Unreal Engine 5, and partly the zeitgeist. It will pass. Or at least diminish enough that 40 minute State of Plays don't look like 1 long game. We need more color. PS2 had it all, seemingly constantly. Now we wait for an Astrobot or Dragon Quest once every few years.

PS5 is now officially over 5 years old. Price drop is nice, should pick up a few more sales for Sony, but if you've waited this long to purchase a PS5 you might as well wait for a PS6. At least to find out if there is going to be a proper handheld variant. If it's just going to be another home console then maybe pick up a PS5 during a sale.

@get2sammyb Speaking of Petit Planet are you familiar with Palia? Free to play game w/ lots of vids on YT, was thinking of giving it a go if Nikki 2.0 doesn't feel right.

I think fir me it started w/ Elden Ring, but not exactly, but Lies of P and the Elden Ring dlc where both shown together w/ this and a couple of others that all could have come from the same GA. Even Clair Obscur has the look, if not the gameplay. Everything is so dark and black. 🤷‍♂️

Looks good. I'm putting it on the calendar. Saturday of Thanksgiving day weekend is a crummy time to do it though, lot of kids who play this will probably be traveling, pestering their parents no end. They could have easily kept the Simpsons going for another week - it's a really short season - and done this on Dec 6th.

Unless Epic isn't a US company and doesn't care about T-day? Gonna have to go look that up. I'll be there, wife permitting. Simpsons lead in was mostly a 12 minute non -interactive cutscene but it was a fun watch. This one looks to be playable.

Edit: Epic is in North Carolina, who knew, would have guessed California or Washington. They really should have waited. Probably means their employees have to put in more time over that weekend as well. Guess Epic selling Band camp 5 months after it unionized was a coincidence.😝

My favorite widget is the controller battery life but hours played is nice too. Now if the PS5 would stop asking me to sync up my controller with a wire to the PS5. As long as it's working fine I'm not going to go find a cable to do that. Maybe this update is the reason?

My wife and I didn't like season 2 as much as season 1, Death and the bug lady were both kinda lame, but we've never played the games so maybe that's why.

We would have been OK if it ended after season 2 but we'll watch season 3. We like Stu and the new girl. And as weird as it got w/ Stu in space and coming back home like Goku arriving on Namek I'm expecting they go all in on the zany in season 3. Which will be an improvement over the sister story line. Not a fan of fridging.

Also looking forward to meeting the Clowns dad, some potential there.

I didn't know it either, my wife pointed it out to me, but I did just go look it up to confirm.

My wife and I watched a video on YT a few nights ago, think it was from the SoP. There was so much going on we had no idea what even type of game it was. Farming, fighting, role playing. It seemed to be a bit all over the place.

I would download it but Infinity Nikki finally updates to 2.0 next week and I think that is going to be taking up a whole lot of our time. If Nikki goes off the rail I'll try this out. Maybe another week or two of patches will get this sorted out.

For someone who has been gaming on consoles and PCs since basically the beginning if you want to count Pong, and why wouldn't you, I think I'm interested in this but honestly I'm still not sure what it is.

Price is first and foremost. I'd dive in if it's cheap, but I doubt it will be b/c nothing is anymore.🤑

How is Valve even funding this? PS doesn't have mandatory paid online and Steam doesn't have a Gamepass option like Netflix last I checked. Though with how many PC games there are in the world I don't know why iy doesn't. Even Apple has Arcade for like $10/m and it only haslikev52 games.

Do I have to use that awful controller or can I use 1 of my 5 PS5 controllers?

Is it plug and play like a console or do I still need to fiddle w/ settings for every game?

Will it run currently way too expensive Gamepass games should I get a trial fora month?

If it works like a console, but a PC on my TV for all Steam games, for $499, I might pick it up. After a year or so to see if they're still supporting it. I'm not paying for an Ouya doorstop.

Did you watch Man in High Castle? My wife and I watched it b/c of all the great reviews but we found it pretty slow and boring for the most part. I do like Silo better than that. But I'll always take action comedy over straight drama. Real life is dramatic enough.😩

Hopefully season 2 of Fallout doesn't let me down like Rwisted Metal did. It was OK, but lacked tye coherent consistency of the 1st season.

Not bad looking for a mobile game. Reminds me of some of the modes in Splatoon, not the main one, but that's really but only frame of reference for team games, my 1,000 hours in Fortnite are all solo.

No one has mentioned Spiderman 3 yet, so it could be that, dual release w/ PS6 maybe. Last of Us 3 could be big b/c of the show.

Which reminds me, I don't think any new IP these days can is likely to be that big, which is also why I don't have high hopes for Intergalactic.

I remember the 3D monitor selling for like $500 for lijev6 months then $300 for 3 months then $199 for 2 months then disappearing ofv the face of the Earth.

So I'm guessing something absurd like $799 and it's forgotten in a year.🤑

That's about a 20-25% price cut, maybe 3e% depending on how yoh feel like doing the math, so not bad. I like 55,000 over 72,980 that's for sure. I mean, it can't hurt. Make only a couple of million, hope they sell, then charge for PS+. And it let's them meet the Nintendo home console offer, so they were kind of nixed into a corner.

What you 2 said. PS5 has a 10 year cycle, sharing some of that w/ PS4 and some w/ PS6.

Unless Sony really changes things up by making the PS6 into a Switch like hybrid handheld device then it's really just going to be another continuation of the PS4 anyway.

If the PS6 releases in 2027 there may still be games coming to 3 console generations 4/5/6. Unless I'm wrong and nothing releases on PS4 anymore? I bought Sea of Stars on a PS4 disc for Christmas but that might gave already been years old.

Witcher 4 game should be much better than Witcher season 4 judging by the 1 minute clip I saw online.

They do have a problem competing w/ TW3 though, not sure they can top that. And the 2 dlc. People should probably go in w/ lowered expectations.

Japanese focused games presented in Japanese but it's on at 6AM their time and 5PM in New York.
