@get2sammyb Nice of you to share the doom & gloom articles w/ Liam, I was 100% sure you wrote this when I read the title. π
"Personally, I just don't expect any exclusives at all from PS6. I think we're cross-gen for the foreseeable future."
Looking forward to Sony exclaiming "We know generations!" when they announce what is basically a PS5 Pro Ultra.π Personally I think the PS5 Pro was the PS4 Pro Ultra Super Deluxe for a couple of years but Sony has actually been starting this gen for a few games now.
We don't need next gen consoles until 8k tvs become the norm, and that might be like another decade yet, so what's the rush on PS6? They'd be better off making a PS5 Portable. There's no such thing as a PS6 Portable unless they prove to me PS5 can't run the games. π
Wouldn't it just be easier to add a story mode to Rivals since it's already out there and seemingly doing well?
FF14 still seems to be an ongoing entity judging by its coming to Switch 2 so I suppose Marvel of all people could pull off something similar.
I've currently burnt myself out on gacha playing Infinity Nikki, NTE and 7 Deadly Sins all at the same time when really nothing is going on in any of them. I'm so bored I borrowed Neir Automata Yorha edition from the library just to play a complete game. I'd probably enjoy it more if I hadn't played the remake version Stellar Blade. They're basically the same game.π€ͺ
Add me to the WTaF? crowd. I'm usually pretty good at guessing some reasons for things but at I'm a complete loss to explain an ONLINE subscription for an OFFLINE mode. π€ͺ
Update Edit: I suppose my guess should have been: They done did made a mistake and messed up.
It's really the ONLY explanation that makes any sense. π
I was going to pick "all of the above" but the survey smartly added "standard version" so I went for $69.99US. But really, they're going to make so much money on dlc and what not they could probably give it away for free and still be rolling in dough. But the won't.
So the cheapest version will be $70, and there will be at least 2 more expensive versions. Maybe 3. Or 4.
I'm gonna go but GTAV on the PS5 store for $20 so I can get the upgrade for free. I'll get 6 in another decade. π
@ShogunRok Played the demo for the new Granblue game coming out 7/9 (9/7) and it was a lot better than I expected. May even pay full price since I don't own any earlier versions and just the update alone is $30. My library has the original disc but I'm not paying $30 for dlc for a game I only borrowed. So thanks for the recommendation.π
@themightyant Different game types should have different lengths. I play a lot of JRPG and those tend to be long. And I play a lot of platformers that tend to be shorter. But my brain still does $ per hour math and I never feel like paying the same amount of money for a 12 hour game and a 50 hour game. So I tend to borrow shorter games from the library and only buy longer games.
I bought most of the GoW games so far b/c it's a great series, and I'll probably buy this one if it's a 20 hour big adventure like 2018 and Ragnarok, but if it's 10-12 like the earlier games Iβll probably just borrow it if itβs $70, but Iβd think about buying it for $50.
So thatβs why Iβve been trying to figure out what type of game it is. I over think everything. π
Reading that it may be out early 2027 after they just showed it for the first time has me still thinking it will be short. But still plenty of time for them to show us more. Plenty.
@ShogunRok Is the title of this version of the game, (why do all games need more than 1 version these days?), "Granblue Fantasy: Relink a Second Time Around Endless Ragnarok" or did you just throw random words into the middle of the title of the game like you're a writer with Tourette syndrome? π
I'm going to try out the demo but I think this is 1 of those games with graphics I don't like. If I can get past the graphics I think I'll like it. Once I can figure out what the title is to buy this version. π
I have 15 games on my Wishlist and none of them are on sale. Zero. As long as I've had a wishlist I can't ever remember none of them being on sale before, there's always 1 or 2.
Borrowing this from the library since they don't have Ghost of Yotei. Seems like the right time. Though the length does gave ne worried about a library Borrowing. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
@themightyant I've played Miles Morales and it was a full game. But it wasn't Spiderman 1 or 2. I've played Lost Legacy and it was also a full game, but not as full as Uncharted 1-4. I've never played the handheld one. God of War 3 was a full mainline game, that only toom like 6-8 hours to beat, which is far shorter than GoW 2018 or Ragnarok. Heavenly Sword was a full game and also fairly short. I'm guessing Laufey will be shorter than GoW 2018 or Ragnarok.
Heavenly Sword was only 7 hours. I do think Laufey will be longer than that. They'll almost certainly add a battle arena of some type just to battle. But I'm still guessing a dozen hours for the story, 8-10 less than the other 2.
They should just name this "the law of unintended consequences" b/c I don't see any possibility of this ending well. π
I thought this was only for after 10:00PM so kids could get their needed sleep but maybe that law was somewhere else? π€·ββοΈ
Anyway social media can be a hateful place but I don't see how you can keep kids from watching vids on YT or TikTok. A lot of parents are just going to let their kids watch on TV. Unless the UK doesnt have smart tvs with the YT APP built in?
Look at the top 10 game lists. It tends to be focused on the same games - sports, Fortnite, GTA, CoD, and 1 or 2 games that release - then drop off the next week. Minecraft and Roblox take up a lit if kids time. And people are still playing FF14. There's a reason Sony went so hard on live service, to try and survive. But they seem to have pretty much failed.
Games take too long to make and cost too much money. And games are pretty much 1 and done, you buy it or you don't. Expensive blockbuster movies have a progression to try and make their money back. Theaters. Paid streaming. Subscription streaming. Disc sales. Then sis sale box sets b/c if your a big budget movie these days your probably a sequel. But if you're a game, it's pretty much do or die from day 1. Unless you're No Man's Sky somehow, but that's very much the exception, not the rule.
Now add in to that AI taking jobs, and kids raised on iPads who may never want a console. And consoles getting too expensive. And PC parts getting so expensive.
Video games aren't going away. Even vinyl record albums are still around. But Tower Records isn't. Most record stores aren't. Albums are niche. Video game companies are going to need to change and adapt. But a lot of them aren't.
@get2sammyb You give any thought to updating this article since more details seem to be out there. I'm not a fan of rumors but Deadline at least seems to be legit (here in the States). Spoilers: Mark is playing his dad. π
@Americansamurai1 Sweet Tooth's father is a good guess, but wasn't he already in it for a brief moment? Maybe just a shadow and his voice?
IMDB says only 1 episode as Pope Charlie Kane. I have no idea who that is, but I also never played the games. If it's only 1 episode kind of a bummer. He played The Trickster on the Flash a decade ago, it was memorable.
I don't think I ever would have noticed anything different if I hadn't read this article. I feel like half the time I know who wrote the article just by looking at the title and when I don't I check to see who wrote it. And the whether the language is 1st, 3rd or whatever 2nd is, I just know who wrote it, so the we or I are just words.
@themightyant Both GoW and Ragnarok took place in multiple locations, like 5 or 6 planets each, and took me I think around 40 hours to play. Based on what they've shown so far it just feels more like the earlier games, linear progression, and it's harder to do that for 40 hours. Ragnarok was perhaps a little more linear than GoW, which I think I spent as much time on side quests as the main story.
I'd be more than happy to be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. Especially if they only just showed it to us now and it's releasing in less than a year.
I do like my games on "easy" mode these days, except for JRPG which somehow all tend to be perfect on normal, but I've seen several games have a "story" mode in addition to an easy mode, and story gets pretty close to just watching, not playing.
This seems like the kind of game even normal mode would be easy enough. As long as we can change it mid game and not start over I'm fine with all the difficulty settings, some nights it just depends on my mood and or time constraints.
Spring 2027 sounds about right, 6 months after Wolverine. It would be really fast for a big AAA PS game though, I feel like those take 3-4 years after they're first announced, not 6 months. And Ragnarok wasn't all that long ago.
So now I'm thinking this is going to be a 6 hour linear game like GoW 3, or Miles Morales or Uncharted Lost Legacy. Who knows, maybe it even started as a $30 dlc but now they'll charge $70 for it standalone instead? But maybe $60 if it is just linear and short?
Either way looks good to me, count me in for Heavenly Sword 2. That game was also both linear and short, like GoW used to be. Nothing wrong with that.
@AhmadSumadi Wait until they hear about a little series called "The Legend of ZELDA". π
@get2sammyb Yen Press. And they have an imprint called Ize (pronounced eyes). Ize is the Korean manhwa stuff, Yen is mostly manga and "light novels". They don't make their own stuff, they get licensing rights to publish in the US. They do "ebooks" on a website as well which is probably US locked. They're like 51% owned by Kadokawa, whom I know you know, and 49% by Hachette, which is a US publisher which always sounds French to me. π
@get2sammyb No way I ever play this but I enjoyed the read. They seemed as enthusiastic about being interviewed as you seemed interviewing them. π
Thanks for teaching me a new word today, manhwa. My wife knew what it was as she publishes Korean books in the US, but she couldn't describe it other than "a Korean art style."
@Rich33 Yeah, there's a lot of potential for back story for a guy who has like 5 origin stories in the comics plus all the lives he's lead. I'd like to see them pull off a joke about Patch but they'll probably save Madripor for paid dlc.
I was just wondering if anyone knew, release date is just 3 months away. There's enough pyshic stuff w/ the X-Men they could probably have someone go in his head and show him some Days of Future Past Sentenil apocalypse. Not to be confused with Apocalypse.π
Have they mentioned the time frame? Logan is old, he's seen a lot. Could be linear, could have flashbacks, or it could time jump. Looks fairly modern so far.
@SMJ I've been commenting here 18 years (next week) and I've almost never had a comment deleted. I think at this point they're just waiting for me to fade away. π
Did the original 3 games really have tank controls? I hate those, can't really play those, skipped the Tomb Raider games b/c of them, but I recall enjoying the trilogy. Not the 4th one which I never played b/c the storyline seemed to have run it's course.
I do recall the game being really slow, and the controls were a bit off in some of the small villages, almost 2D like where you could only walk forward and back. But not tank, which is always up for forward.
It was slow, and brown, and well not easy for me but it was fine, which would probably be easy for most of you. And the new game does kind of look like that.
One of my favorite memories of Onimusha is after playing those getting the 1st Genji game and my character jumped, onto a roof. I'd never jumped onto a roof before in a game that looked and played like that. So thank you Onimusha for treating me like that for 3 games so I could be so overjoyed playing Genji. Had I played Genji first Onimusha would have been a no go. Which is how I feel about this game now.
I think we all need to differentiate between minigames that are optional side quests and the ones that are necessary to progress the main story.
Good side quests -
Queens blood could be it's own game. Not just the game but it basically got an entire storyline with a beginning, middle and end. They'll never top it, hopefully they don't try and in revelation it's just playing in tournaments.
Gilgamesh quest was practically his own game. My 1 kid did all of it after my other kid played the whole game b/c they hate tower defense. Which did suck, horribly, but the surrounding story was good.
Chadley was fun optional fighting. We all like Chadley, as a fighting arena option. Sometimes you just wanna fight.
Bad mandatory main story game play -
Stealth chocobo catching around the train cars. Just let us feed them gessel greens next time like a normal game.
Johnny's hotel set-up. I can't recall exactly what we had to do for him, return golf carts maybe, but it took tok long and was stupid. I think surfboards were somehow involved but maybe not.
Dragging hoses to refill fuel or some such. May have been in Remake as well. Such a drag, literally.
All the pushup, situp, rhythm game squat stuff isn't great, but kinda needs to be there b/c it's in the original.
There is so much stuff in Rebirth, it bothers me to lump it all together. I don't mind them putting in as much side quest side mission stuff as they want, but the required stuff was a bit much. And their tower defense game sucked. My kid who really likes that stuff lowered the difficulty to easy to power through it. TD seems an easy enough genre to mimic, they need to go play some PvZ.
@StandardCabrera You're making me want to play the game more with all the intrigue, but I still can't get behind the same names. I mean DD and DD2 is fine, sequels are a long established thing in the arts, but subtitles soul always be different. I'm not paying to see Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring and also Lord of the Rings 2 Fellowship of the Ring.
@StandardCabrera Thanks for not spoiling it. I figured there was a reason, but whatever the reason, I don't like it. π Even if they are related, if the first dlc expansion is called "Dark Arisen" just call the 2nd one something like "Dark Awakening" or "Dark Arising".
I'm also not a fan of there being 2 games called God of War, I'm not just being anti-Capcom or Dragon's Dogma. I just don't like having to think.π
@AhmadSumadi That's all very true. Funny, but true.π
I missed Nintendo. Had Pong, Atari, then didn't game for like a decade until PS and GameCube. Nintendo is just another gaming company to me, but for some people it's their whole childhood. My childhood is beer and heavy metal music. π
I have most of this except 2.8, which always costs way too much stand alone, and the 3 dlc. I played 1 & 2 back in the day, someday I may play, and watch, the rest.
4 being announced for Switch 2 does probably mean it will release before PS6 launches at least.
@get2sammyb There are wah too many games releasing September - November so at least a few of them will be delayed. But I think they're all waiting to see who will blink first. It's the game of chicken.
So, with everyone waiting to see where the delays get moved to, I'm guessing the undated 2026 games are looking for a landing spot.
Plus, what if they're all waiting for GTA 6 to get delayed again? Why announce a Feb or March release date today just to have Rockstar delay to that date tomorrow?
Kena is probably behind schedule, what game these days isn't, but they could also be waiting for the shake out we all suspect is coming.
I've always read goid things about Fable but never played one. I'm overall liking the trailer though it does seem a but drab and grown, very much like the Witcher 3. Also kinda looks like it's supposed to be 1st person but they pulled tye camera back about 3' to make it 3rd person but all you can see on the screen is your characters back b/c it needs to both be pulled back about another 10' and raised about 15-20'.
But I might still play it as a "What If Agent Carter Was the Villain of a Vox Machina Adventure" kinda thing.
@UltimateOtaku91 As someone who tries to play a lot of JRPG myself this whole not E3 week has been somewhat of a wash. I was bummed when DQ 12 got canceled and they started work on DQ13 (which is basically what they told us) but I was happy for FF7 Revelation and it being released relatively soon. Though I'm expecting at least 1 delay to summer b/c that's every game these days. I'm probably the only JRPG guy who has never played a Persona game and I still have no plans too. Maybe I should get into Fable? God of War Laufey does kinda look like a fantasy JRPG graphically if not in gameplay.
FF13 Versus becoming FF XV reminds me a lot of what happened with DQ which is why it feels like DQ13 to me now.
Not sure the reason, could be typos, spell checks, speech to text or inside joke, but just in case you don't know, I think you keep writing "champagne" the bubbly beverage πΎ when you want to be writing "campaign" going on a mission.
If you do know, apologies if I ruined the joke. π
This is probably our favorite family Godzilla game. Save the Earth was good, but just stupid Ole fun multiplayer fighting with Godzilla et al this was the way to go. Also explains why we had so many cheap garbage GameCube controllers all over the place.
I wish we still had this, have to assume I gave it to my nephew when we got a Wii. Wii had Godzilla Unleashed which was not a good game. Stupid broken spamming Destroyah.
Godzilla on PS3, then PS4 w/ multiplayer, was not a good game. I don't really know how you mess up Godzilla, but they did.
Will keep an eye on DAMM but since the kids are grown up now not sure we'd play it more than once, but we'll see.

Ragnarok was perhaps a little more linear than GoW, which I think I spent as much time on side quests as the main story.
I'd be more than happy to be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. Especially if they only just showed it to us now and it's releasing in less than a year.
Re: Fable PS5 Looking Far Too Easy? Don't Fear, Harder Difficulties Will Be Available
Re: Sony 'Hopes' to Launch PS5's God of War Laufey in the First Half of 2027
Spring 2027 sounds about right, 6 months after Wolverine.
@AhmadSumadi Wait until they hear about a little series called "The Legend of ZELDA". π
Re: Xbox Wants Faster Fallout, Elder Scrolls Games to Bolster Business
I think technically the games rollout has to be faster b/c the only way for it to be any slower is if the games were cancelled. π
How is BG&E2 doing these days anyway? π
Re: 'We Wanted to Avoid Pretending the Industry Is Perfect': How K-pop Idol Stories Is Delivering the Ultimate PS5 Fantasy for K-pop Fans
They're like 51% owned by Kadokawa, whom I know you know, and 49% by Hachette, which is a US publisher which always sounds French to me. π

Re: 'We Wanted to Avoid Pretending the Industry Is Perfect': How K-pop Idol Stories Is Delivering the Ultimate PS5 Fantasy for K-pop Fans
I'm surprised you have to buy 2 copies and they didn't gift you 1 for reading True Beauty, you're probably the whitest guy they've ever met. π (I almost called you a middle-aged white guy but I refused. If you ever reach middle-aged I'm already dead. π©)
Re: Wolverine PS5 Will Take You to Tokyo as Part of Its Globe-Trotting Campaign
@Rich33 Yeah, there's a lot of potential for back story for a guy who has like 5 origin stories in the comics plus all the lives he's lead. I'd like to see them pull off a joke about Patch but they'll probably save Madripor for paid dlc.
I was just wondering if anyone knew, release date is just 3 months away. There's enough pyshic stuff w/ the X-Men they could probably have someone go in his head and show him some Days of Future Past Sentenil apocalypse. Not to be confused with Apocalypse.π
Re: Wolverine PS5 Will Take You to Tokyo as Part of Its Globe-Trotting Campaign
Have they mentioned the time frame? Logan is old, he's seen a lot. Could be linear, could have flashbacks, or it could time jump. Looks fairly modern so far.
Re: Even with PS5 Ports, Many of Xbox's Games Have Been Underperfoming
I don't really buy a lot of games but the only game in that poll I even want to play is South of Midnight.

@SMJ Congrats to you as well. Kinda crazy huh.
Re: Ubisoft Shutting Multiple Studios, as the News Just Keeps Getting Worse
@SMJ I've been commenting here 18 years (next week) and I've almost never had a comment deleted. I think at this point they're just waiting for me to fade away. π
I hear ya on the industry woes though. My kid graduated from college 3 years ago w/ a BS degree in "game design & development" aka video game making, from a real school that wasn't cheap, and they haven't yet been able to find a full time job. They're working part time at a coding school teaching kids how to also be unemployed in the future. π©

Re: Capcom Responds to Criticism of Onimusha's PS5 Demo, Says the Full Game Is 'Tougher'
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Address Rebirth's Excessive Minigame Problem
Re: Major Dragon's Dogma 2 Patches Incoming to Improve Base Game Ahead of Dark Arisen DLC
Re: Major Dragon's Dogma 2 Patches Incoming to Improve Base Game Ahead of Dark Arisen DLC
Re: Major Dragon's Dogma 2 Patches Incoming to Improve Base Game Ahead of Dark Arisen DLC
@AhmadSumadi That's all very true. Funny, but true.π
I missed Nintendo. Had Pong, Atari, then didn't game for like a decade until PS and GameCube. Nintendo is just another gaming company to me, but for some people it's their whole childhood. My childhood is beer and heavy metal music. π
Re: Major Dragon's Dogma 2 Patches Incoming to Improve Base Game Ahead of Dark Arisen DLC
@Enuo "Have the endless sequels and remakes not clued you in tha5 Capcom is creatively bankrupt?"
I sat through 50 minutes of a Nintendo Direct this morning where Capcom might have had more games than Nintendo did, so Capcom is looking great to me.
Nintendo, who 1 year ago launched new $500 hardware, showed:
Wii Sports port, Zelda OoT remake, more Fire Emblem and Xenoblade, Splatoon dlc sold as it's own game, and more dlc for old games.
Re: Major Dragon's Dogma 2 Patches Incoming to Improve Base Game Ahead of Dark Arisen DLC
Are they really just reusing the same Dark Arisen title from DD or is my brain really that broken?
DD:DA
DD2A
That's hysterical. I literally can not type the title. What a strange day I'm having.π
Anyway, as always, glad I waited. No game is ever really complete until like the next console generation.
Re: While You Wait for Kingdom Hearts 4, Play the Entire Saga with New Collection on PS5
I have most of this except 2.8, which always costs way too much stand alone, and the 3 dlc. I played 1 & 2 back in the day, someday I may play, and watch, the rest.
4 being announced for Switch 2 does probably mean it will release before PS6 launches at least.
Re: PS5 Fans Ponder Whether Kena: Scars of Kosmora Has Been Delayed
Re: The PS5 Release Schedule for Fall 2026 Is Now Beyond a Joke
@ShogunRok "but now that we're done with all of the summer gaming events"
Oh come on Shogun, you posted this right AFTER Nintendo announced it's 50 minute Nintendo Direct for tomorrow with a 90 minute Tree house Live after.
Even after getting The Witcher 3 on Switch you still give them no respect at all. π

Re: Fable DLC Already Confirmed for PS5, Adds New Region
Well I was already waiting for a dlc announcement anyway, mso at least now I know. Will wait 3 years for the complete directors cut.
Re: Fable Gets PS5 Release Date and Hayley Atwell in Latest Gameplay Trailer
I've always read goid things about Fable but never played one. I'm overall liking the trailer though it does seem a but drab and grown, very much like the Witcher 3. Also kinda looks like it's supposed to be 1st person but they pulled tye camera back about 3' to make it 3rd person but all you can see on the screen is your characters back b/c it needs to both be pulled back about another 10' and raised about 15-20'.
But I might still play it as a "What If Agent Carter Was the Villain of a Vox Machina Adventure" kinda thing.
Re: Round Up: All the PS5 Reveals from the Xbox Showcase 2026

Re: The Remaster of This Retro All-Timer Is Plucky Enough to Go Head-to-Head with GTA 6
