My kids been using a PS5 controller on PC for years, I actually think before we even had a PS5 as I had some expiring credit at Best Buy. They actually carried it around enough on campus that the drift became unusable - yeah I'm throwing my kid under the bus on this one not Sony. When they got a new one I got them a case. And they actually use it that I've seen.

I'm thinking if you own a gaming PC you probably own a cable so I don't see the point. Though they ALL should come with a cable b/c that's how you charge them. I'm OK w/o the charging dongle, I have enough of those. And they probably cost more than a short cable.

What if the PS6 was actually the PS5 Pro we met along the way?

This game is releasing in about 2 weeks on consoles on DISCs. The time for cooking is over as the discs have probably already been pressed. Sure, day 1 update, but the YouTube videos will be pre-update once some retailers break the street date, so we'll know.

Hopefully some of this sticks to Keighly, whether he's aware of it or not.

I think Marathon will be OK b/c Bungie, and I can see it picking off some Destiny 2 players.

Horizon I'd like to see do well but I'm not optimistic.

7 Deadly Sins Origins releases in a couple of weeks which I'm very much looking forward to so I'm not anti live service or anything like that but it's just not a good time to be releasing this many of those types of games.

Physical is dying all around, circling round the drain.

Less big games, ie FF7, 8, 9 shipped 3 years in a row and now just FF7 alone is taking 6 years.

Gacha games are free and Roblox is mostly digital, along w/ Fortnite and Minecraft.

No disc drives.

If you own an Xbox you're probably renting w/ Gamepass, not buying.

So it's all adding up to physical going bye bye, like it or not.

I prefer buying physical games myself, but free games are free, so I'll take the digital on those.

That girl playing Thrud looks exactly the right age for Atreus in that photo so at least they got that right.

Makes me wonder if maybe they're doing a bit of a time skip between seasons 1 & 2 to age them up a bit to match the games.

I also think a large part of season 1 is going to be stuff going on in Thor's family that wasn't in the game to make it flow better into season 2. There's a lot going on there w/ Thor, his dad, his wife, and his kids. They'll be at least 1/4 to 1/3 of the show.

Having Atreus and Thrud so young looking in season 1 will allow for them to get along better in season 2 after Atreus basically helps kill not 1 but 2 of her brothers in season 1.

People locked into the game won't like it but it will make for a better show. Thor is really the center of it all. He has that fight w/ Atreus mom back in the day. They'll save that part for Season 2.

It was time to move on. The thing about sequels in story driven games is you kind of have to play the previous games, and after awhile it gets to be a lot. I never need to play another Kingdom Hearts game, Final Fantasy is very different, and I don't need another Uncharted.

I'm thankful Uncharted exists, 2 was an all time great, but imagine if all we ever got were Spyro and Crash games b/c the devs never moved on to new IP? It's good for devs to move on.

I like the white spider and pin stripes, reminds me of Spiderman 2099 for some reason even though it looked nothing like that, but I really do NOT like the white on the back of his hands. It looks like he's ready to pop about Wolverines claw. I can practically hear the snikt just looking at it.

I will say overall since day 1 I have really enjoyed the look of this game. I don't play fighters b/c I suck at them and don't see the point, but the graphics alone have me tempted to give this one a try.

As soon as I saw the photo my brain said "Opie!" (From Sons of Anarchy, not The Andy Griffith Show) so I hope that isn't a problem watching it.

Well honestly I'm not too worried about that. I've watched enough "making of" and "deleted scenes" videos to understand that they ALWAYS look like soap opera Cosplay. That's why it's called "movie magic" b/c it's incredible how good they xan make this stuff look in production compared to on set with your phone. I know this is a TV show not a movie but they'll do the work.

tldr; hopefully this "straight to DVD" looking still pales in comparison to what is hopefully a big budget production.

@8thDoctor Thanks. I just reread the article and didn't see any mention of that. Or the 100 in game skins, which for a Lego could almost be playing as new characters as you unlock the skins.

Most interesting thing I read on their website though is 2 player couch co-op but no online. My family prefers it that way but still feels unusual to see.

If Polyphony Digital got it's hands on a dev kit, maybe from the teams who ported Lego Horizon or in the process of making MLB The Show for Switch 2, why wouldn't they try to get GT to run on it? I'm assuming you're all familiar w/ the phrase "boys and their toys"? 7 seems really limited. Like what are we going to spend 100 million studs on if there are only 7 characters? I suppose they could always have skins, which judging by the comments I can think of a couple, but it just doesn't seem the same.

Though I suppose we've already played w/ other characters in all the other Lego games, and if this game is basically the trilogy and the newish movie there aren't a lot of other characters to play as. Not like Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman and Green Latern show up in any of those 4. Well that I recall any way.🤷‍♂️

Guess we'll see if there's any dlc in the future. The Titans tv show could work since they already have Nightwing in here. Maybe a 4 pack for $19.99? Dlc is so expensive these days.🤑

@Bramble And cheap indie games. Like the whole point of indie games was being $4.99 or $9.99. PS3 even had a special section for $1.99 mini games or whatever they were called. Now it's hard to find something under $20 or $30. And honestly I don't think some of the games have gotten all that much better to justify 2x, 3x or 4x the price.

But I'm cheap and poor, so that's what I remember.🤑

I know, and that's the problem. I'm not playing a GoW game to get Professor Layton, Kratos isn't Sherlock Holmes.

When Batman fights Bane it's to show off his physical attributes, but Batman historically has always been as much a detective as a street fighter, solving crimes and puzzles against the likes of Joker and Riddler. Kratos is more a Hulk Smash! kinda guy.

Baldur made for a nice incessant irritant but he is more the annoying class clown than the big bully who requires Kratos to go all out. So I wasn't feeling it.

I'm looking forward to this one for the open world and art style. More of a single player though so I don't know how I'll handle parties or interacting with others if that's required in this game.

Currently playing Infinity Nikki which has about a week's worth of content for me every 6 weeks and Disney Speedstorm which I can live without. Recently quit playing Firtnite after a few years so I should have time for this if I can play about an hour a day and still keep up.

Edit: Just watched the trailer. Wish it was a regular JRPG so I could just play it and not have to learn the 4 or 5 different currencies to deal with the gacha system. They always make these things so overly complicated and not everyone has played a dozen of these games before. Guess I'll watch a bunch of explainer tutorial YT vids if I can't figure it out.

Just remembered how lame of a villain I thought Baldur was in the first game. After coming off Kratos fighting some serious Greek gods in the original trilogy I found Baldur to be all kinds of meh.

Oh sure he was fine the first time, just a chatterbox to get Kratos annoyed, and that was fine, but the final battle was lame. Though I suppose if you look as the first game for what it is, just the first half of the whole game, then I suppose he isn't a horrible choice. Knowing they've already greenlit season 2 will make him easier to deal with.

I never played the first game b/c I think it was 3DS. Played the demo for the second and it was nice and long but the battles seemed repetitive. This one is looking a bit more full blown JRPG so I might give it a go. More likely to as I prefer gaming on PS5 anyway.

People come and go as jobs remain, Nintendo has had several company heads over the past decade, but I really think this is the end of Xbox. Maybe not the brand, Game Pass could be renamed Xbox Game Pass, but I don't see new high end console hardware coming. If they want to sell a $199 Xbox to Go dongle and controller to cloud game on tvs like a Ouya that hardly counts.

This seems odd to me. With the game already being on PC an Xbox port seems almost redundant, and there aren't a lot of photo realistic games like this on Switch 2. Even FF7 Rebirth, as much as I prefer those graphics over photo realistic, is still kind of fantasy cartoon. I suppose the RE games are like this. Even Pragmata to me seems like it wants to recall PS3 style graphics.

I mean if the Switch 2 can run it properly then great, it should sell, just surprised they'll take the time to try.

Thanks for the confirmation. So there are nearly 5 Billion with a B smartphone, plus iPad and other tablets where I'm guessing a lot of kids play Roblox, plus all the home PCs and laptops vs 100mil PS5. The fact that any PS5 number can even be mentioned in the same breath as mobile is astonishing. The fact that PS5 can even still exist in this world is remarkable. Sony can wait on PS6 at home but they should really get that PS6 portable (aka PS5 on the go) out the door.

What's the install base for potential Roblox? I'm guessing it's a mobile phone tablet thing, but also on PS5 and PC? If it's just on PC then never mind, but if it's on iPhone and iPad, and it's free, then yeah of course the engagement is there, I can't recall the last time I saw a kid over like 2 years old who didn't have a mobile device in their hand. New parents probably don't know all the horrors of Roblox, they just give the kid the device. Kid goes to school, everyone at school is playing Roblox, so they play Roblox.

So I'm not impressed with engagement of free games on devices kids get at birth. But I do worry about the devices kids get at birth replacing home consoles. Actually worry isn't even the right word, I expect consoles to go extinct, like 8-tracks (ask your parents kids).

I don't think I've ever played Roblox, neither have either of my game addicted kids, not commenting on it, just looking at the world and the math.

Watched my kid play the demo, they're looking forward to giving it a go when time permits. They're currently playing Jedi Survivor so like a 2 year backlog.

@themightyant LOL Fortunately for me my trauma is limited b/c I didn't actually play the game, my entire family just watched my youngest play it, so all I recall of XC2 is - we never got KOS-MOS, the nopon was no heropon, and Poppi the robot. Oh and 3 women who were really 1 woman but that only made sense to me after watching my kid play the car superior Torna dlc.

I watched that same kid play XC3 and it was much better. B/c Eunie's the boss.

So not a fan of this. And as @PuppetMaster pointed out they also did this in Sukiden, which I distinctly remember b/c I purposely did NOT play Sukiden b/c the 108 character number scared me off. I like my JRPG to have more manageable numbers around 6. 😁

They could require PS+ for gacha games, like how PS+ was a rental service way back when on PS3 but became an online gaming requirement on PS4. With so many free to play games releasing these days, and big continuing ones like Fortnite, Roblox, Genshin Impact, I could see Sony saying you need PS+ for all online on PS6 because "reasons". 🤑

Which would mean I would never buy a PS6. Though I probably won't anyway by the time it launches anyway.😝

If they started working on this 6 years ago it was basically a PS4 game b/c that was all they had to go by. And since the PS5 is basically a PS4 Pro Pro w/ an SSD and some upscaling and fake frames, and the PS6 will probably basically be a PS4 Pro Pro Pro Pro (how many iPhone are they up to now, 17 or 18?) then I think this can run on both the PS5 and PS6.

The dlc will be PS6 only b/c greed makes everything suck these days.🤑
