I’m kinda torn on this one. You guys do seem to be passed over for a lot of review code, but this is a pretty big game, and you guys are pretty big. Can’t decide.
That type 5 list of most watched videos probably said a lot.
I watched it live yesterday morning and that put on YT for the highlights for my family at dinner.

@get2sammyb Don’t you, um, feel the need to apologize to numerous people (not me) for the numerous articles you’ve posted about the factory no longer making discs and the comments you’ve posted pointing that out to anyone hoping or thinking Sony was going to backtrack? I don’t know exactly how many articles and how many comments but you’ve certainly been beating the “Sony will stop making discs 1/1/28 they’ve already started retraining people” drum.
I’ve always thought this was just Sony’s first warning so this news doesn’t change anything for me. We didn’t see Intergalactic yesterday, we’ve seen almost nothing of Intergalactic since it was announced, 2027 is fast approaching, so until I see otherwise that’s a 2028 game for me, and it will be on disc.
Not that all of this has been for nothing, Sony even announcing they were stopping discs while they’re still selling separate disc drives always seemed like a reason to burn them to the ground, but I have never thought that 1/1/28 cutoff date was set in stone. Not any more real than numerous game delays. It’s best case scenario wishful thinking.
The end is coming, but not quite yet. Kind of like Xbox games on PS5 and PS5 games on PC, these companies change their minds by following the money. There will be disc money for an extra year, or 2.

That’s a lot of knowledge for a hobby, I’m almost surprised you can still enjoy it knowing all of VRs shortcomings that well. Have you considered a job in the industry, maybe as a test subject?
I do enjoy those museum and amusement park rides that look so real it’s like you’re actually there, but 20 minute experiences is how I look at it, something different, not how I want to spend the majority of my time.
Hopefully you’re still young enough you’ll get to the promised land of enjoyable VR so you can enjoy what you have without needing more. I’m retired, I’m no longer looking ahead, except to nap time. 😴

Not really my thing. I know we owned it, still might, just not my thing.
That said, I do remember it looking really bright and colorful like a Saturday morning cartoon, possibly the inspiration for Jet Set Radio, and I really wanted to play it b/c of that. This photorealistic look just isn’t jibbing with me, as Sammy kinda said a couple of times in the article.
It’s kind of the same feeling I had seeing the then more realistic graphics of Sonic Unleashed on I’m guessing the PS3 after Sonic Adventure was much more colorful on Dreamcast. Not everything needs to be photorealistic, it’s ok to be cartoon colorful.
@BentIeyma @RockLoi I think the game will be complete, but I would also like anything Sephiroth or Vincent related, but I know once the game is done I’m done with it, won’t go back for dlc, so I’d rather just wait to be able to play it all at once.
And since I saw it say 2028 for the dlc, well maybe I’ll just wait. Who knows what other improvements the game will have by then, larger font, better menu system, smoother interface.
Did anyone else notice a game about halfway through the show that they described that sounded a lot like Fortnite - online build your team and your character stuff? It went by pretty quick so I missed the name. Might be “Stupid Never Dies” b/c I don’t recall seeing that name in the show.
I like the look of this one. And the title is such a cool word you feel like it should have been used repeatedly before in things like books, movies or tv. I can imagine an X-Men comic, 1 of those late 80s early 90s issues when the team was all women, and they go on vacation to the Grand Canyon, so they title it “Uncanny X-Men in Uncanyon Vacation”. That’s how much I like it, and that’s how ridiculous some of those Jubilee issues were. 😂
But it looks like an Apple Arcade game to me. So I’d rent it, but probably not buy it. 🤷🏻♂️
I was still undecided if I was going to vote 6 or 7 expecting a scale of 1-10 when I got here so I went with good. Probably should have gone with ok b/c I’m not convinced it was actually “good” and not just “ok” but looking at the words ok seemed to represent a 5 and I wasn’t going 5. Good seems 6-7, very good 8-9, excellent 10.
So I said good, b/c it was like a 6-7, not an ok 5, but it was just ok.
Good things it had.
Variety. Variety is good. I don’t like when every game looks the same, like they picked a theme - dark, 1st person, fantasy - and stuck with it. This had variety, like it or not.
A few surprises in Scarlet and DQ maybe.
Ending with FF7.
Bad things.
Movies and Legos and so much dlc, oh my.
No Intergalactic or Laufy or Kena. The games people want to know about and some of us are looking forward to. If you’re announcing a SoP show your games, not controllers for a game you didn’t even show.
I didn’t stick around for the follow up so this only covers the first one.
Judging by the $30 difference in price between $70 standard and $100 premium I’m guessing $30 for the “season pass”, maybe $15 or $20 separate.
Looking forward to Sammy’s article raging against the 24 hour early access for the 2 more expensive versions, but not the more expensive 3 game bundle version, which at only $85 is still a deal. I didn’t like Remake but Rebirth is well worth it. Could be a big deal for Switch 2 owners who onl6 recently got the games so probably some of those gamers were waiting for the 3rd game. I’m going to tell everyone at NL it’s way worth it.

$70 for the game $85 for all 3 games $100 for premium with 2 dlc and 24 hour early access $110 for premium bundle above and I can’t figure out what the extra $10 is for 🤷🏻♂️

I’m hoping they still have some surprises for us b/c while it looks really good I don’t feel in too much of a rush to play it.
It would be nice if they let us play as other characters different from Wolverine. Gambit throwing playing cards, Colossus punching through walls, Jean moving stuff with her mind. Wolverine is Wolverine. He’s great. He’s my favorite. But he’s basically a 1 trick pony. And he even admits it in a way, best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice. The change of outfits from street clothes to costume does help make things look a little different, but Logan is still basically Wolverine. It’s not like the difference between Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
If you only play as Wolverine I’ll probably wait, just in case. And it’s not like any games released finished these days anyway, there’s almost always something.

If I was a company with the money to buy Squenix I’d hold out a bit in case MS puts Xbox up for sale, once they finish firing everyone who works there. 😩
If I like a game I’m usually just around the 50% trophy mark, and if I really enjoy a game maybe 60-70%, so this doesn’t really affect me any. But if I’m playing as Wolverine I’m not expecting to be parrying much anyway. I’m either dodging the big brutes or just slicing up everyone else. Parrying limited to similar fighters lik3 Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth.
If the game actually lets us see our numbers I’m thinking I’m at like 75 parry when I’m done. And if they require a certain amount they very well should let us see it.
I got my PDP Cloud remote to work, but not as a “Media Remote” in that section, had to connect it under “Bluetooth; Other Devices”. Not sure it’s any better than the DualShock controller but it does have a volume button and tv power on off which is nice.
Naruto live channel is up to season 2 episode 29 and man that show has got dark. 😂 it’s like they took the characters out of early DB but put them into mid season DBZ.

If you make a copy of a game, leaving the original uncorrupted where it is, you didn’t “steal” it, you made a copy. If we can’t own a copy of a game EVEN WHEN THEY SELL IT TO US how can we have stolen it? Doesn’t make sense.
If you SELL copies, that isn’t stealing, that’s copyright infringement or whatever, you are making money off the work of others. That’s a different law you are breaking. That happens every time Nintendo makes someone take down a YT video b/c they are monetizing Nintendo’s work. But Nintendo doesn’t sue them for stealing a game they probably legally purchased a license to play. Personal use is different.
Stealing a license to play a game as long as they say we can probably doesn’t have the same oomph as stealing a game though. 😝
I look at this game and realize I haven’t really had a look at this game even after all these years.
If this wasn’t being made by ND we’d probably all be calling it vaporware by now, that’s how little we’ve seen.
It always makes me think of Guardians of the Galaxy which itself was good, I think a lot better than people give it credit for b/c the in game characters didn’t match up to the movies, but it wasn’t wait for it while they work on it for 6 years good.
I want to trust Naughty Dod, Uncharted 2 is mt favorite interactive movie, but that also means 3, 4 and the dlc game weren’t as good. And while I liked TLoU a lot, the sequel was really bad for me.
So I don’t know what to expect. Maybe they’ll 1 day announce it’s a digital only PS6 exclusive and then I won’t have to care. But 1 final great PS5 game would be sweet.
So my thoughts after spending about 45 minutes with it.
I don’t think it’s actually an app app. It feels more “built in”. When you press the PS button to close an app it isn’t listed. You just click on the lamest icon ever created since Windows 3.1 to see what’s there. Actually you may not even have to click on it, just move to it and it starts showing you stuff maybe?
It rebooted my tv, not the PS5, my tv, after about 3 minutes of use. I think it was loading the software.
I was going to see if my PS Vue remote worked but the batteries are dead I think. Was going to change them but decided the PS5 controller worked well enough. Probably better.
I like L1 and R1 for scrolling through the sections. Which you can also do by just scolling down. R1 is faster though if you know what you don’t want to watch.
Anime has first 16 episodes of Naruto. Had never seen episode 1 before so I learned some things. Also season 1 of Sailer Moon, which did not look like what I expected it to look like.
There is also an On Demand section with some older movies from the 2010s. Can’t imagine how many ads those things must have, but at least with on demand you can watch when you want from the beginning.
It’s 2026, I really don’t understand linear tv in 2026, just make it all on demand. I realize that takes more tech but who’s watching linear tv these days besides news, sports and weather?
I use Haystack News every day. Some on demand clips to catch up then live news channels, mostly Bloomberg but also local and Al Jazeera. That app came with all my TVs.
Honestly I might use a Sony Live TV app on my tv, it worked fairly well, but I’m not turning on my PS5 except for gaming and the extremely rare 4K UHD disc.

I’m curious if they let it work with any of the previous remotes they’ve had, I own the Vue discussed earlier. Is the menu viable? Can we save favorites? Is it sorted by genre? I’ll assume no DVR storage.
Curious how those sports channels work. I’ll give it a go just to try it out, but after reading all the articles on here about what an energy hog the phat PS5 is I try no never turn it on. I even turn it off rather than rest thanks to you guys. I’ll report back after lunch.
@Ajbr8687 I have a library within walking distance of my house. If a game is 20 hours or less I can borrow it and play it for free before having to return it. If it’s longer than 20 hours I’ll pay for it so I don’t have to make the trip twice to renew it, or feel like I have to rush through it in order to return it on time.
But if a game is on sale, I paid 10 cents for a $15 game on Switch yesterday, well I’ll take it.
I also paid $15 for The Witcher 3 complete years ago. 6, 7, 8 I don’t remember, but it wasn’t long after it released. So that’s kind of my baseline. If I wait, it will be on sale, so why pay more?
I do tend to pay more for 1st party Nintendo games. I think 8 year old Switch games might still be $60, so might as well pay the price day 1 b/c it might not get cheaper in my lifetime. So I bought Donkey Kong Banaza for $70. Then like a month later Nintendo sold the rest of the game for an extra $20, so I might just not buy anymore of their games either. 🤑

Couple of questions. So this is an all new game and not a remake remaster reboot scenario? It kinda reads like a new game but also not a sequel. I played the first 3 back in the day but never got around to unnumbered 4. (Kind of like God of War 4 now that I think about it)

Haven’t played any Fable game, but if it gets a disc on PS5, which really every $70 game should get a disc, then at this length I can borrow it from the library, finish it in 2 weeks, and return it.
If a company wants me to buy a game for $70 it needs to be longer than I can play in 2 weeks, which is just about 20 hours.
Edit: Clicked on the Buy on Amazon link and it is a disc based game. Well at least it’s a box, I suppose it could just be a code.🤬 And it’s $69.00, just like Wolverine. I guess Amazon decided on selling games for $69.00 instead of $69.99 for marketing purposes. I suppose Bezos can afford the 99c.🤑

In the late1980s in Marvel comics Namor the Sub-Mariner basically bought the world using his wealth as Prince of Atlantis. Then Marvel put him in a movie and beat him in an oversized toaster oven. 😩
They lost me at “Microsoft going 100% physical”. I don’t think any console has been 100% physical in like 20 years. Even really bad at online Nintendo has had digital games since the Wii and DSi.
That said. I still think there’s a chance we get physical games from Sony after January 2028. I’m particularly looking at Intergalactic slipping to February or March 2028 and Sony feeling forced to put that game on disc.
I suppose it’s really more of exceptions to the rule than the rule being broken entirely, but what are exceptions other than someone changing their mind?
It’s also possible Sony itself stops manufacturing discs but lets other companies do it. So it would be niche, like albums. I still can’t believe albums exist in 2026 but Target stocks about a dozen so someone must be buying them. 🤷🏻♂️
PS6 is all digital. There will be no physical PS6 games. But since we’ll probably get PS5 games until like 2033 we could get PS5 discs until 2030 or so.
@Rich33 Our PS3 is our DVD and Blu-ray player. PS5 would be our 4k player if our library carried those. I did buy myself Akira for Christmas which has like 3 versions on all the discs I intend to watch some day. Maybe this weekend. Thanks for the reminder.
I like shorter games, medium length games, long games, a few never ending games I’m playing now. I just like paying what I feel is appropriate. Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei are $70 games, Astrobot was not. Only got it b/c it was basically the only game on my kids Christmas list last year. Gifts aren’t the same as spending money on myself.😁 Neither of my kids has asked to play Wolverine so that’s all on me. Would make a nice Christmas gift I suppose. 🎄
FF7 PT3 will be day 1 at any cost, that’s a family game. We’re a FF family. Probably will also be like 50 hours though, if not more. We're very thorough in our JRPG.
@Rich33 NG+ just means “play the same game twice” which I already do if I like a game enough without NG+.😁 Having watched the trailer and listening to the narrator talk about the new moves and a couple of other things they locked behind NG+ makes me think the game is kinda short or they wouldn’t already be promoting that.

If I didn’t have a public library within walking distance that lets me borrow a game for a week then always auto renews it for another week, giving me 2 weeks to play a game for free, then things might be different. But I do. Feel free to blame me for an all digital future. I’ll probably just stick to free games, or really good sales like Witcher 3 Complete for $15, after that. If they even bother to have sales anymore once disc go away giving Sony a digital monopoly.🤑
Have they mention expected game length anywhere? I used to be a $1 per hour kinda guy but due to inflation I’m now at $2 per hour. Though the $1 can still be met, just finished Ghost of Yotei in just over 50 hours after buying it on sale for $50. 😎
Anyway Wolverine looks a lot like “Uncharted With Claws”:so if we’re looking at a 12-15 hour game I’m waiting for a sale. Any time less than that I’ll just borrow it from the adult section in my library.
Surprised to see the 25% “no vote”. I mean that’s still 75% yes so it’s a big win for them, but the hype around this game had me thinking the no vote would be down around 12-15, which isn’t much of a difference I suppose, but 85-88% is still noticeably more than 75%.

Not into horror but this one looked interesting. I was a little confused by the way they showed the main title and then the subtitle, thought maybe it was a sequel or something, but I’m interested.
I missed about 50 minutes of the 2nd hour, turned it back on just in time for FF7R and TW3, and I have a question- did GTA6 really not put in an appearance? I know the Netflix show is coming, nice dig in the preshow, but did they really have 2 1/2 hours of gaming news for this year and next and not give any time to what is supposed to be like 1 of the biggest game releases of all time? Seems like that would be quite the oversight if true.

My kid started the PS5 version - guess we’ll be seeing a lot of comparison videos any second now - and they didn’t like the combat so they stopped. I’m hoping after playing all 3 Darksiders games, starting tonight, W3 with these new improvements will seem better. 😁
That said. As someone who will probably spend a lot of time playing this, but never play GTA 6 b/c I still haven’t played GTA 5, I still think comparing the 2 is a bit weird. For starters, 1 is a new IP, the other is game 6 going on like 30 years of hype. Plus the new IP is free-to-start, the other is $70 or $80 or $90 or $100 to start, depending on what your definition of start is. I suppose they will both be digital only, so there’s that. 😎
Looks good, but way above my pay grade. My heart barely survived the 2 Ori games. My kids are into this stuff, if it reviews well I’ll mention it to them.
I’m not joining in but since all of my gaming is online free to play games that don’t require PS+++ and I never spend any money on them I don’t think Sony is making any money off of me anyway. So that’s my protest - play online all the time but don’t spend any money. 😁

It’s kind of the same feeling I had seeing the then more realistic graphics of Sonic Unleashed on I’m guessing the PS3 after Sonic Adventure was much more colorful on Dreamcast. Not everything needs to be photorealistic, it’s ok to be cartoon colorful.

@BentIeyma @RockLoi I think the game will be complete, but I would also like anything Sephiroth or Vincent related, but I know once the game is done I’m done with it, won’t go back for dlc, so I’d rather just wait to be able to play it all at once.
And since I saw it say 2028 for the dlc, well maybe I’ll just wait. Who knows what other improvements the game will have by then, larger font, better menu system, smoother interface.
But it’s FF7, so we’ll see.😁

I like the look of this one. And the title is such a cool word you feel like it should have been used repeatedly before in things like books, movies or tv. I can imagine an X-Men comic, 1 of those late 80s early 90s issues when the team was all women, and they go on vacation to the Grand Canyon, so they title it “Uncanny X-Men in Uncanyon Vacation”. That’s how much I like it, and that’s how ridiculous some of those Jubilee issues were. 😂
But it looks like an Apple Arcade game to me. So I’d rent it, but probably not buy it. 🤷🏻♂️

I was still undecided if I was going to vote 6 or 7 expecting a scale of 1-10 when I got here so I went with good. Probably should have gone with ok b/c I’m not convinced it was actually “good” and not just “ok” but looking at the words ok seemed to represent a 5 and I wasn’t going 5. Good seems 6-7, very good 8-9, excellent 10.
So I said good, b/c it was like a 6-7, not an ok 5, but it was just ok.
Good things it had.
Variety. Variety is good. I don’t like when every game looks the same, like they picked a theme - dark, 1st person, fantasy - and stuck with it. This had variety, like it or not.
A few surprises in Scarlet and DQ maybe.
Ending with FF7.
Bad things.
Movies and Legos and so much dlc, oh my.
No Intergalactic or Laufy or Kena. The games people want to know about and some of us are looking forward to. If you’re announcing a SoP show your games, not controllers for a game you didn’t even show.

Judging by the $30 difference in price between $70 standard and $100 premium I’m guessing $30 for the “season pass”, maybe $15 or $20 separate.
Looking forward to Sammy’s article raging against the 24 hour early access for the 2 more expensive versions, but not the more expensive 3 game bundle version, which at only $85 is still a deal. I didn’t like Remake but Rebirth is well worth it. Could be a big deal for Switch 2 owners who onl6 recently got the games so probably some of those gamers were waiting for the 3rd game. I’m going to tell everyone at NL it’s way worth it.

$100 for premium with 2 dlc and 24 hour early access

I’m hoping they still have some surprises for us b/c while it looks really good I don’t feel in too much of a rush to play it.
It would be nice if they let us play as other characters different from Wolverine. Gambit throwing playing cards, Colossus punching through walls, Jean moving stuff with her mind. Wolverine is Wolverine. He’s great. He’s my favorite. But he’s basically a 1 trick pony. And he even admits it in a way, best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice. The change of outfits from street clothes to costume does help make things look a little different, but Logan is still basically Wolverine. It’s not like the difference between Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
If you only play as Wolverine I’ll probably wait, just in case. And it’s not like any games released finished these days anyway, there’s almost always something.

If I like a game I’m usually just around the 50% trophy mark, and if I really enjoy a game maybe 60-70%, so this doesn’t really affect me any. But if I’m playing as Wolverine I’m not expecting to be parrying much anyway. I’m either dodging the big brutes or just slicing up everyone else. Parrying limited to similar fighters lik3 Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth.
If the game actually lets us see our numbers I’m thinking I’m at like 75 parry when I’m done. And if they require a certain amount they very well should let us see it.

Ok a couple of last things.
I got my PDP Cloud remote to work, but not as a “Media Remote” in that section, had to connect it under “Bluetooth; Other Devices”. Not sure it’s any better than the DualShock controller but it does have a volume button and tv power on off which is nice.
Naruto live channel is up to season 2 episode 29 and man that show has got dark. 😂 it’s like they took the characters out of early DB but put them into mid season DBZ.
Ok that’s probably it for Live tv for me, I’ve got better things to do.

If you make a copy of a game, leaving the original uncorrupted where it is, you didn’t “steal” it, you made a copy. If we can’t own a copy of a game EVEN WHEN THEY SELL IT TO US how can we have stolen it? Doesn’t make sense.
If you SELL copies, that isn’t stealing, that’s copyright infringement or whatever, you are making money off the work of others. That’s a different law you are breaking. That happens every time Nintendo makes someone take down a YT video b/c they are monetizing Nintendo’s work. But Nintendo doesn’t sue them for stealing a game they probably legally purchased a license to play. Personal use is different.
Stealing a license to play a game as long as they say we can probably doesn’t have the same oomph as stealing a game though. 😝

I look at this game and realize I haven’t really had a look at this game even after all these years.
If this wasn’t being made by ND we’d probably all be calling it vaporware by now, that’s how little we’ve seen.
It always makes me think of Guardians of the Galaxy which itself was good, I think a lot better than people give it credit for b/c the in game characters didn’t match up to the movies, but it wasn’t wait for it while they work on it for 6 years good.
I want to trust Naughty Dod, Uncharted 2 is mt favorite interactive movie, but that also means 3, 4 and the dlc game weren’t as good. And while I liked TLoU a lot, the sequel was really bad for me.
So I don’t know what to expect. Maybe they’ll 1 day announce it’s a digital only PS6 exclusive and then I won’t have to care. But 1 final great PS5 game would be sweet.

So my thoughts after spending about 45 minutes with it.
I don’t think it’s actually an app app. It feels more “built in”. When you press the PS button to close an app it isn’t listed. You just click on the lamest icon ever created since Windows 3.1 to see what’s there. Actually you may not even have to click on it, just move to it and it starts showing you stuff maybe?
It rebooted my tv, not the PS5, my tv, after about 3 minutes of use. I think it was loading the software.
I was going to see if my PS Vue remote worked but the batteries are dead I think. Was going to change them but decided the PS5 controller worked well enough. Probably better.
I like L1 and R1 for scrolling through the sections. Which you can also do by just scolling down. R1 is faster though if you know what you don’t want to watch.
Anime has first 16 episodes of Naruto. Had never seen episode 1 before so I learned some things. Also season 1 of Sailer Moon, which did not look like what I expected it to look like.
There is also an On Demand section with some older movies from the 2010s. Can’t imagine how many ads those things must have, but at least with on demand you can watch when you want from the beginning.
It’s 2026, I really don’t understand linear tv in 2026, just make it all on demand. I realize that takes more tech but who’s watching linear tv these days besides news, sports and weather?
I use Haystack News every day. Some on demand clips to catch up then live news channels, mostly Bloomberg but also local and Al Jazeera. That app came with all my TVs.
Honestly I might use a Sony Live TV app on my tv, it worked fairly well, but I’m not turning on my PS5 except for gaming and the extremely rare 4K UHD disc.

I’m curious if they let it work with any of the previous remotes they’ve had, I own the Vue discussed earlier. Is the menu viable? Can we save favorites? Is it sorted by genre? I’ll assume no DVR storage.
Curious how those sports channels work. I’ll give it a go just to try it out, but after reading all the articles on here about what an energy hog the phat PS5 is I try no never turn it on. I even turn it off rather than rest thanks to you guys. I’ll report back after lunch.

@Ajbr8687 I have a library within walking distance of my house. If a game is 20 hours or less I can borrow it and play it for free before having to return it. If it’s longer than 20 hours I’ll pay for it so I don’t have to make the trip twice to renew it, or feel like I have to rush through it in order to return it on time.
But if a game is on sale, I paid 10 cents for a $15 game on Switch yesterday, well I’ll take it.
I also paid $15 for The Witcher 3 complete years ago. 6, 7, 8 I don’t remember, but it wasn’t long after it released. So that’s kind of my baseline. If I wait, it will be on sale, so why pay more?
I do tend to pay more for 1st party Nintendo games. I think 8 year old Switch games might still be $60, so might as well pay the price day 1 b/c it might not get cheaper in my lifetime. So I bought Donkey Kong Banaza for $70. Then like a month later Nintendo sold the rest of the game for an extra $20, so I might just not buy anymore of their games either. 🤑

@ShogunRok Thanks. Sounds like Capcom couldn’t decide what it was exactly so they didn’t say. 😁. Reminds me a little of the “DmC” game but they seemed more straightforward about that being a reboot. Still haven’t played that, will probably either play this or watch my kid play it, more their thing these days.

Couple of questions. So this is an all new game and not a remake remaster reboot scenario? It kinda reads like a new game but also not a sequel. I played the first 3 back in the day but never got around to unnumbered 4. (Kind of like God of War 4 now that I think about it)
Guess I’m wondering how it fits for new and returning players.

Haven’t played any Fable game, but if it gets a disc on PS5, which really every $70 game should get a disc, then at this length I can borrow it from the library, finish it in 2 weeks, and return it.
If a company wants me to buy a game for $70 it needs to be longer than I can play in 2 weeks, which is just about 20 hours.
Edit: Clicked on the Buy on Amazon link and it is a disc based game. Well at least it’s a box, I suppose it could just be a code.🤬 And it’s $69.00, just like Wolverine. I guess Amazon decided on selling games for $69.00 instead of $69.99 for marketing purposes. I suppose Bezos can afford the 99c.🤑

They lost me at “Microsoft going 100% physical”. I don’t think any console has been 100% physical in like 20 years. Even really bad at online Nintendo has had digital games since the Wii and DSi.
That said. I still think there’s a chance we get physical games from Sony after January 2028. I’m particularly looking at Intergalactic slipping to February or March 2028 and Sony feeling forced to put that game on disc.
I suppose it’s really more of exceptions to the rule than the rule being broken entirely, but what are exceptions other than someone changing their mind?
It’s also possible Sony itself stops manufacturing discs but lets other companies do it. So it would be niche, like albums. I still can’t believe albums exist in 2026 but Target stocks about a dozen so someone must be buying them. 🤷🏻♂️
PS6 is all digital. There will be no physical PS6 games. But since we’ll probably get PS5 games until like 2033 we could get PS5 discs until 2030 or so.

@Rich33 Our PS3 is our DVD and Blu-ray player. PS5 would be our 4k player if our library carried those. I did buy myself Akira for Christmas which has like 3 versions on all the discs I intend to watch some day. Maybe this weekend. Thanks for the reminder.
I like shorter games, medium length games, long games, a few never ending games I’m playing now. I just like paying what I feel is appropriate. Ghost of Tsushima and Yotei are $70 games, Astrobot was not. Only got it b/c it was basically the only game on my kids Christmas list last year. Gifts aren’t the same as spending money on myself.😁 Neither of my kids has asked to play Wolverine so that’s all on me. Would make a nice Christmas gift I suppose. 🎄
FF7 PT3 will be day 1 at any cost, that’s a family game. We’re a FF family. Probably will also be like 50 hours though, if not more. We're very thorough in our JRPG.

@Rich33 NG+ just means “play the same game twice” which I already do if I like a game enough without NG+.😁 Having watched the trailer and listening to the narrator talk about the new moves and a couple of other things they locked behind NG+ makes me think the game is kinda short or they wouldn’t already be promoting that.
So I suppose to answer your question, no. 😁
If I didn’t have a public library within walking distance that lets me borrow a game for a week then always auto renews it for another week, giving me 2 weeks to play a game for free, then things might be different. But I do. Feel free to blame me for an all digital future. I’ll probably just stick to free games, or really good sales like Witcher 3 Complete for $15, after that. If they even bother to have sales anymore once disc go away giving Sony a digital monopoly.🤑

Have they mention expected game length anywhere? I used to be a $1 per hour kinda guy but due to inflation I’m now at $2 per hour. Though the $1 can still be met, just finished Ghost of Yotei in just over 50 hours after buying it on sale for $50. 😎
Anyway Wolverine looks a lot like “Uncharted With Claws”:so if we’re looking at a 12-15 hour game I’m waiting for a sale. Any time less than that I’ll just borrow it from the adult section in my library.

Surprised to see the 25% “no vote”. I mean that’s still 75% yes so it’s a big win for them, but the hype around this game had me thinking the no vote would be down around 12-15, which isn’t much of a difference I suppose, but 85-88% is still noticeably more than 75%.
I still haven’t played 5. These comments are making me think maybe I should try RDR2 instead. Or maybe I’ll just wait for Ananta since Sammy keeps comparing the 2. Free > $80

I missed about 50 minutes of the 2nd hour, turned it back on just in time for FF7R and TW3, and I have a question- did GTA6 really not put in an appearance? I know the Netflix show is coming, nice dig in the preshow, but did they really have 2 1/2 hours of gaming news for this year and next and not give any time to what is supposed to be like 1 of the biggest game releases of all time? Seems like that would be quite the oversight if true.

That said. As someone who will probably spend a lot of time playing this, but never play GTA 6 b/c I still haven’t played GTA 5, I still think comparing the 2 is a bit weird. For starters, 1 is a new IP, the other is game 6 going on like 30 years of hype. Plus the new IP is free-to-start, the other is $70 or $80 or $90 or $100 to start, depending on what your definition of start is. I suppose they will both be digital only, so there’s that. 😎
