Will read reviews for this one after reading all the comments about it being overly long and bloated. I think about 50 hours is my limit these days for a game like this, don't want to start 100.

Have you played Disney Speedstorm? It's a lot of fun w/ what I feel like are better graphics and controls than what I got out of the online test for this. (Be happy you don't have to look at this on Switch, it's terrible.) I currently can't recommend it b/c it's free to start with an insane amount of monetization. INSANE. But if you want to race, online or off, for fun for an hour or so a day, I still like it better than this, and MKW on our Switch 2. It's just too bad about the monetization. Oh and the online matchmaking sucks, very pay-to-win. 😢

@MrHabushi I've owned my home for 24 years. I've purchased numerous home appliances with big yellow energy stickers on them. I have never purchased a gaming console with an Energy Star compliance sticker on it and I doubt I ever will. I don't think this is a government regulation move. 🤷‍♂️

It's weird that it's just for 3 games and not system wide. PS has done articles about not using your PS5 to stream b/c of the energy consumption, if this addressed that it would make sense w/ Sony owning Crunchy roll. But game special? 🤷‍♂️

@Dubplant Found you. 😁 I asked on the article earlier today if this was a way to save 1080p TV owners money. Why push 4k when 1080p will suffice? I think they would just call it 1080p mode if that were the case but who knows? 🤷‍♂️

Curious if someone like DF can actually check the power draw difference, are we walking 2-3% or 30-40%? Saying "power saving" isn't really saying much.

Are there still people out there gaming on 1080p TVs? You shouldn't need to burn up your PS5 pushing 4k if your TV can't make use of it anyway. Though I suppose calling it "1080p Mode" would make more sense. Just a thought. A lot of indie games probably don't need PS5 power either. Some of them look like PS1 games. 🤷‍♂️

Wow I can't believe they really did this, and without even saying anything. I'm pretty sure they announced it every 6 months or so when they changed the size of the PS3 HDD. 😝

New commercial isn't bad, but they should deliver something first before mocking the champ.

I played the Switch demo on Switch 2, and it was Wii levels of ugly. Then I played it on PS5, and it was marginally better. Shouldn't have any trouble getting the Switch 2 version to compete graphically with the PS5 version.

I'm not really enamored w/ MKW or Sonic. MKW was kinda boring as a lot of people have pointed out, but Sonic seems too heavy of an emphasis on customization. Nothing wrong with that, i4 just seemed too much.

My favorite Kart game right now is free-to-start bordering on being a demo Disney Speedstorm. The monetization is borderline criminal, like $80 per character obnoxious, but the look and driving feel are great on PS5. Haven't tried the Switch 2 version, don't see the point. Tracks are limited but vary enough, and the single player keeps me entertained for 30 minutes a day. I mean it's racing, how much more than that do I need?

"streamlined progression feature" just sounds like "God mode" to me. Nothing wrong with that in a hash and slash mosou game but it kinda feels like not the point here. Have people been asking for an easy mode in FF7R? It's not exactly a souls like. Options never hurt I guess.

Will probably play it at some point w/ my wife but it's a $5 or $10 game for me if it's only about 5 hours. We still haven't played Split Fiction that I bought on sale recently for my kids to play.

All of this talk of "I can't wait until 2027 so that we can get a new console and some new games" is killing me. While I play on my PS5 every day I don't feel like I need new hardware, every game looks and plays fine. This isn't a 10yo hardware Switch situation where everything 3rd party was so limited. I'm never getting an 8k tv and I basically never need a new console.

It already takes them 5 years to make a new game, are we going to have to wait 10 years on PS6. Meaning PS6 gets no new games b/c they'll all be delayed to PS7.😝

I watched the Direct live yesterday morning and thought RE9 looked pretty bad to be honest, so much so that I thought RE7 and RE8 looked much better in comparison. I attributed that to 7 & 8 being PS4 games and 9 being PS5 but I don't play them so I don't know.

So anyway last night I watched the Direct on the Switch 2 w/ my wife and kid, fast forwarding thru the numerous lame games, and I thought RE9 looked fine, same as 7 and 8. That actually happens a lot w/ me and these live shows, watching trailers later will look noticeably better than live, so I'm impressed with what Capcom has pulled off on the tablet hardware. I think FF7R looked just as good as the PS4 version, so Squenix also got it right.

If you want to play on a home console PS5 is the way to go, but if you want to play on the go, Switch 2 seems capable. I only play on TV but I need those Nintendo 1st party games, so I own both. Switch 2 is for exclusives for me. But maybe I'll skip PS6 and make do. Though half those games will be on PS5 anyway so...

No, it's confirmed to be a multiplatform release, it's implied to be simultaneously. And obvious is neither confirmed nor implied, it's a hunch, a theory, or a guess. And if someone is going to write an article and say it is "confirmed" then they should be easily able to point to that confirmation. It shouldn't be only obvious or implied.🤷‍♂️

When I watched this I thought it might be the 3rd game in that spinoff series, Builders?, or that other spinoff series, so many DQ games, and I was kinda surprised it was based on an old game it looked so different.

Probably wouldn't pick it up day 1, and I wouldn't pay more for early access which you forgot to complain about, but it did look good. Probably years down the road. Especially if it's really long.

@JayJ The bullet points lists 10 fixes, 7 adjustments, then said additional fixes and tweaks at the end. I don't think 7 is "mostly" more than 10. 🤷‍♂️

My live in girlfriend bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 1998 so we could play Parasite Eve, b/c we kept seeing the commercials for it on TV. I asked her to marry me the following year. Still going. The marriage and the PS1. I booted it up recently to check on my FF7 save files.

I'm glad I didn't get 1 at launch, I could never play games w/o the dual sticks. I don't think people talk enough about what a huge change that was that gen.

The 3D platformer era on the PS2 was the best. I mean it was so good that Sony made a PS Move game featuring the big 3 stars, and the game didn't even have a jump button, that's how big of stars they were. That 2013 game felt meh. Nothing wrong with it, just unnecessary. Like, I didn't need it, I could just play the original trilogy.

I would very much take another Infamous game, or a 3D platformer that wasn't Sly, just like Sly, but I don't need another Sly.

Looking forward to this but now that it's getting close I'm kinda worried how it's going to turn out. Wolverine has always been 1 of my favorite Marvel characters since I bought his first appearance in the Hulk comic - I was a big Hulk fan back then - and the recent movies have been great,from the dark and dour Logan to Deadpool and Wolverine. But I've never been a big fan of the Batman Arkham games and I have a feeling that's their model.

Do we even know if this is 3rd person? Indy was first person. If this is 1st person after all these years I may actually cry. I could learn to like Arkham but FP is a non-starter.

Difficulty aside, that's a whole lot of fixes for a game they took 7 years to release.😂

Are people really clamoring for a PS6? Has the PS5 been out that long and reached that many hurdles it can't overcome?

I'm not saying I wouldn't want a new console some day, I just got a Switch 2 recently, but the Switch was practically old when it launched 8 years ago, it was a handheld masquerading as a home console, the next DS pretending it was the next Wii, but the PS5 is fine. Anything that isn't fine probably has more to do with software coding than hardware.

Until we all have 8k tvs the only reason for a PS6 is forced obsolescence. I'm still not 100% convinced the PS4 is too ancient for what we need, much less the PS5.

Filming in 6 months but not having your literally larger than life star picked out seems a great way to go.🙄

It is in part just me, I'm aging out, but both my college age kids are gaming much less on consoles as well, mostly on their laptops, not phones. And it mostly feels negative on here and NL. Between the failed GaaS, cost of the hobby, AI taking jobs, mass firings, years between releases, review bombing, it's not exactly sunshine and rainbows. E3 out and 24/7 Geoff Keighley I think pretty much sums it up for me.

I'm happy for you, and all the long suffering Silksong fans, and the other happy gamers, but I think in general the honeymoon is over, we need therapy to keep the marriage going now. Worth saving for sure, but it's not Christmas morning anymore. More like hungover NY Day.😂

The best thing I can say about this game and company is thry kind of flew under my radar. I honestly think I haven't read a single word about it anywhere but here. Not having an Amazon Prime TV show about it is probably a good thing. Not for anyone involved in making or publishing the game, but the rest of us have had enough gaming negativity for awhile now. Even getting a Switch 2 hasn't helped, I hardly touch it.

4 of my next 5 nights will be watching (American) football and the rest of the month we're finally watching all of Andor. Gaming has lost it's way, and us in the process.😩

Finally. I really miss E3 basically being "here's all the new games coming out in the next 12 months, come back next year to see the games for the 12 months after that.

I know it hasn't been that way for a very long time but I still miss it. 2 years even would be fine, but I really don't need to know about new games 5 or more years before they release, it's too long.

And it's obviously not just Wolverine. Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, DQ12, TES6, Silksong off the top of my head. GTA6 is taking a while now. I'll excuse FF7 R part 3 b/c technically they haven't even announced it yet.

If Sony is going to do this they need to announce in $ terms how much the 1TB was going to cost them vs the 825GB and tell us how much they were going to raise the price if they kept the larger size.

Sony buys these pieces in bulk by the literal millions, and I can't imagine any reason why a manufacturer would prefer to keep making a smaller size rather than a larger one, certainly not at that minimal of a difference. So if Sony says something stupid like - if we didn't use a smaller size it was going to cost us an extra $3 per until, and we were then going to have to charge an extra $50 per PS5 to make that $3 back, b/c we only raise or lower prices in $50 increments - then they San all rake a long walk off a short peer.

Thus is probably all BS anyway and PS just has us wasting our time w/ this rumour.

The only way I could imagine this being real, since they mentioned the digital edition, is if Sony has a small paperback book size PS5,,like the PS3 Super Slim, which can't be upgraded like the current slim, so they're going w/ that size b/c it's going to be cheaper, lighter, smaller etc. so maybe the 825GB makes sense to set it apart. It's getting near time for an end-of-life cheap model ahead of the PS6. 🤷‍♂️
