And somewhere in there Intergalactic in 2027 so it can still be on disc.😝

@ATaco I’ve been saying and thinking Laufey is going to be a much shorter game since it was announced, and like you my replies have mostly been people telling me I’m wrong. But while I’d like for us both to be wrong every single piece of info we get is telling me otherwise.
Announced fairly soon after GoW:R roguelite dlc. Releasing EXTREMELY soon after it was announced. Most games seem to take at least 3 or 4 years these days, like Wolverine and Intergalactic, not just months. Announcing a new GoW game before this one even releases.
Put that all together and you have GoW 2.8. (That’s a Kingdom Hearts reference in case that insane never ending series, I think they said 3 was supposed to be the last one, isn’t your cup of tea.)

I think they’ve said Wolverine is linear and I feel liek we’ve known about that game for at least 3 years. Though I’m not sure I’ve read about game jungle though, I’m hoping for a long 30 hour. Story in that one, getting to pay as several characters beside Loganto give the game some much needed variety.
Wow that was quick. It does have me worried this game is going to be more linear and on the shorter side than the recent games so I probably won’t be preordering it. Not that I mind a shorter more linear game, but I’m not paying $70 for a 7 hour game.

I’ve only played 2 hours of Splatoon Raiders so far but I fear I may be regretting it soon. But at least that was only $50. And both my kids will probably play it. GoW is a series neither has gotten into, so it’s all on me. And I’m still debating Wolverine day 1. He’s my guy. Only so much coin to go around. Over $3k on my car this week. 🤑

We’ve always been heading to an all digital future. At some point all future gen game consoles were going to be all digital. The problem is Sony decided to end disc production during the PS5 gen. So people who paid extra for a disc PS5 or separate disc drive may not be able to buy PS5 games they want on disc starting in 2028. And there will still be PS5 games releasing in 2028. That’s almost a guarantee for yearly games like sports and CoD. Sony ripped the rug out from under paying customers.
So while I do think the gaming industry as a whole will be fine, PS6 sales may suffer as people decide PC is just as good as a console. Or a Steambox or iPad or Switch 2. So it may not hurt the industry, but hopefully it hurts Sony. I’m petty like that. Not for PS6 being digital, I expected that, but for stopping PS5 games on disc unnecessarily.

Luigi 3 might be the best couch co-op game I’ve ever played with my wife if you know anyone to game w/ IRL. My kids also played a lot of Pikmin couch co-op, think it was 3.
Splatoon 1-3 are very similar, mostly 4v4 online, Raiders which releases tomorrow is different, mostly single player offline.

I’m really a math guy but my reading comprehension is the worst so I’m not sure what I’m reading here. I read it as:
7 games x 100k copies each in 6 months = 700k copies in only half a year, at the going cost of $70 is $49 million. So let’s say $100m for the full year b/c you know most sales happen around the holidays.
And that’s just in North America. But we don’t know how many games sold 70, 80 or 90k each, and we don’t know how far over 100k those 7 sold. So we’re at a Minimum of $100M rev, but probably more, maybe double. But really who knows b/c the info ain’t saying.

1 thing I did think was weird is that it isn’t cumulative. Like, if I’m paying for PS+ Premium and I want to see what PS5 games I can play, I wouldn’t expect it to be 0, I would expect to see all 233 games I can play listed. Same for PS+ Extra. If I click on all PS5 games I’d expect to see all 233 I can play, not just the 230 on PS+ Extra and then I have to click on PS+ Essential to see the 3 other games I can play.
It’s possible that’s just the way you do it over there, or the rest of the world does it, but filtering for PS+ Premium and PS5 shouldn’t show me 0, it should show me 233. But I’m an American, I want it all, and I want it easy. 😁

@DennisReynolds The fight scene itself was good, but if I recall correctly, which I may not, it just happened and then it was over. I kind of need that first set up fight where things don’t end b/c they get interrupted, or the good guy loses, and then later on the good guy wins. Builds up tension that way.
I’m still waiting for the 2nd Captain America and Red Hulk fight in Brave New World. You can’t tease Red Hulk for all that time, have him show up, lose fast, then movie over. That’s not how these things are supposed to work. Minor characters sure, but it was General Thunderbolt Ross Red Hulk, the movie needed another fight.
That’s not 100% though. I think God of War 2018 didn’t need to have Kratos fight that guy I think 3x, opening, closing and I think 1 in the middle. I don’t even recall that guys name but he never seemed a match or threat to Kratos, certainly not final boss worthy. Certainly not with Thos and the other Gods waiting in the wings. Stupid half game.😝
Anyway I view Lady Deathstrike as a major Wolverine character so I’m hoping she gets as much screen time as that Kratos guy, but she’ll probably be a 1 shot, and I’ll be disappointed. I’m assuming at least 3 Sabretooth fights. Can never have enough of those. And I’m ok with that.
Trying to think of who else will show up. Lot of good characters in his comics, but also a few lame ones.
Always liked Lady Deathstrike. Well except in the movie that she’s not in much except for the one fight she loses, such a waste. But in the comics I always thought she was underutilized. Gonna go check my collection. I’m assuming I have her first appearance, I was buying all the X-Men and Wolverine comics back then, but I can’t remember when she first showed up.
Hopefully they treat her right in the game and she gives Logan a few Game Over screens before you finally beat her.
Edit: Don’t think I have her first appearance in Daredevil, might have her appearance in Alpha Flight. Oh well.
Having played both of the newer God of War, along with all the previous ones, I don’t understand why they just can’t have Hurst do all of the talking parts and have his stunt double do all of the action scenes. I mean isn’t that how movies have been made for like 100 years?
Sylvester Stallone reportedly hurt himself making Rocky 2 so they had him fight right handed in the movie instead of canceling. Can’t he just use his left hand for stuff, show his face for all the close ups, body double do all the rest?
Telling your paying customers they can’t spend money to buy more stuff from your store b/c they don’t spend enough on your streaming service is certainly a smack in the face. Like, what options to make more money did they discard in order to choose this one?
If this comes to PS+ Extra I might sign up to play this and a couple of other games, but I don’t want to pay $20 for this, only to find it’s hard to enjoy a few levels in. Yes, I’m aware, skill issue, and it’s why I’m currently keeping my wallet in my pocket despite wanting to play it. The demo was too complicated for my fingers.😢
They lost me at multiplayer hero shooter but did give me more motivation to get Splatoon Raiders, which doesn’t really have anything resembling a story, but it still seems like a lot more story than this.

To me the simplest timeline for ending PS5 discs is when they stop making PS5 games. Like they stopped making PS3 discs when they stopped making PS3 games. And they announce PS6 will not get physical games BEFORE people buy a PS6 that has a disc drive, or before they buy a separate disc drive to play PS6 games. To me that’s the biggest issue, selling a console where people pay extra for the disc drive, presumably to play the games, they after people pay for the hardware Sony is like “Psyke, no more disc games for you. Mwa ha ha.”
In case you didn’t know or don’t recall, Sony removed “Other OS” from PS3 after people bought a PS3. People sued. Sony lost. Seems like a similar situation to me. 🤷🏻♂️

That’s almost a guarantee for yearly games like sports and CoD. Sony ripped the rug out from under paying customers.
So while I do think the gaming industry as a whole will be fine, PS6 sales may suffer as people decide PC is just as good as a console. Or a Steambox or iPad or Switch 2. So it may not hurt the industry, but hopefully it hurts Sony. I’m petty like that. Not for PS6 being digital, I expected that, but for stopping PS5 games on disc unnecessarily.

@get2sammyb This Luna article is the most I have ever wanted to ask you “Are you having a go?” 🤣 I mean sure streaming is the future, TV manufacturers are running out of things to put into TVs to raise the prices - 4k, streaming media, HDR, ATMOS audio - so a cloud gaming chip makes sense as no one is buying 8k TVs. So I get it. But Luna on Amazon Prime? That’s not it. I’ve tried it. Had all the staying power of Ouya. I have Prime right now, keep checking the app to see when Splatoon Raidersvwill arrive today, and I see no mention of this anywhere. And I looked thoroughly before writing this comment.
So while I agree w/ you and get where you’re coming from, Gen Z kids giving up console gaming, (and apparently sex) for Roblox and Minecraft streaming makes perfect sense. I just don’t think it’s Luna, it isn’t now, and Sony isn’t worried about Amazon.

As someone who has spent way too much time on social media over the past 2 decades I think we could all use more strict guidelines personally.
I’m a cishet old white Catholic guy so I rarely have to deal with the scum of the Earth, but the lack of civility is still real. 😩
Though I’m guessing in this instance Sonys strict guidelines are more along the lines of “just don’t say anything” rather than be kind to each other. Paying all their social media PR people to not say anything does seem like a waste of their money though. But it’s not my money so whatever.🤑

Luigi 3 might be the best couch co-op game I’ve ever played with my wife if you know anyone to game w/ IRL. My kids also played a lot of Pikmin couch co-op, think it was 3.
Splatoon 1-3 are very similar, mostly 4v4 online, Raiders which releases tomorrow is different, mostly single player offline.

Xbox doubling console sales seems weird considering I think it’s like on its 3rd price hike. I think even the “cheap model” S isn’t cheap anymore.🤑
Comparing console sales for June seems weird though. Who’s buying consoles in June? And both PS5 and Xbox are getting up there in years, so a decline feels expected, as several others have already pointed out.

I’m really a math guy but my reading comprehension is the worst so I’m not sure what I’m reading here. I read it as:
7 games x 100k copies each in 6 months = 700k copies in only half a year, at the going cost of $70 is $49 million. So let’s say $100m for the full year b/c you know most sales happen around the holidays.
And that’s just in North America. But we don’t know how many games sold 70, 80 or 90k each, and we don’t know how far over 100k those 7 sold. So we’re at a Minimum of $100M rev, but probably more, maybe double. But really who knows b/c the info ain’t saying.

1 thing I did think was weird is that it isn’t cumulative. Like, if I’m paying for PS+ Premium and I want to see what PS5 games I can play, I wouldn’t expect it to be 0, I would expect to see all 233 games I can play listed. Same for PS+ Extra. If I click on all PS5 games I’d expect to see all 233 I can play, not just the 230 on PS+ Extra and then I have to click on PS+ Essential to see the 3 other games I can play.
It’s possible that’s just the way you do it over there, or the rest of the world does it, but filtering for PS+ Premium and PS5 shouldn’t show me 0, it should show me 233. But I’m an American, I want it all, and I want it easy. 😁

But, Nikki 2.8 just dropped and wow!! Don’t know how the story will pan out but the location is great. I really really really need Nikki and NTE to not be on the same update schedule. Current Nikki is 40 days, I think NTE is a bit sooner than that. I need like a 2 week start time separation, not a few days.

@DennisReynolds The fight scene itself was good, but if I recall correctly, which I may not, it just happened and then it was over. I kind of need that first set up fight where things don’t end b/c they get interrupted, or the good guy loses, and then later on the good guy wins. Builds up tension that way.
I’m still waiting for the 2nd Captain America and Red Hulk fight in Brave New World. You can’t tease Red Hulk for all that time, have him show up, lose fast, then movie over. That’s not how these things are supposed to work. Minor characters sure, but it was General Thunderbolt Ross Red Hulk, the movie needed another fight.
That’s not 100% though. I think God of War 2018 didn’t need to have Kratos fight that guy I think 3x, opening, closing and I think 1 in the middle. I don’t even recall that guys name but he never seemed a match or threat to Kratos, certainly not final boss worthy. Certainly not with Thos and the other Gods waiting in the wings. Stupid half game.😝
Anyway I view Lady Deathstrike as a major Wolverine character so I’m hoping she gets as much screen time as that Kratos guy, but she’ll probably be a 1 shot, and I’ll be disappointed. I’m assuming at least 3 Sabretooth fights. Can never have enough of those. And I’m ok with that.
Trying to think of who else will show up. Lot of good characters in his comics, but also a few lame ones.

Always liked Lady Deathstrike. Well except in the movie that she’s not in much except for the one fight she loses, such a waste. But in the comics I always thought she was underutilized. Gonna go check my collection. I’m assuming I have her first appearance, I was buying all the X-Men and Wolverine comics back then, but I can’t remember when she first showed up.
Hopefully they treat her right in the game and she gives Logan a few Game Over screens before you finally beat her.
Edit: Don’t think I have her first appearance in Daredevil, might have her appearance in Alpha Flight. Oh well.

Having played both of the newer God of War, along with all the previous ones, I don’t understand why they just can’t have Hurst do all of the talking parts and have his stunt double do all of the action scenes. I mean isn’t that how movies have been made for like 100 years?
Sylvester Stallone reportedly hurt himself making Rocky 2 so they had him fight right handed in the movie instead of canceling. Can’t he just use his left hand for stuff, show his face for all the close ups, body double do all the rest?

To me the simplest timeline for ending PS5 discs is when they stop making PS5 games. Like they stopped making PS3 discs when they stopped making PS3 games. And they announce PS6 will not get physical games BEFORE people buy a PS6 that has a disc drive, or before they buy a separate disc drive to play PS6 games. To me that’s the biggest issue, selling a console where people pay extra for the disc drive, presumably to play the games, they after people pay for the hardware Sony is like “Psyke, no more disc games for you. Mwa ha ha.”
In case you didn’t know or don’t recall, Sony removed “Other OS” from PS3 after people bought a PS3. People sued. Sony lost. Seems like a similar situation to me. 🤷🏻♂️
