
There are bugs which make games run poorly or unplayable – and then there’s bugs which wipe out your bank balance.
What was supposed to be a week of celebration for developer Gryphline will have turned into one of emergency meetings and panic, as a PayPal glitch in the newly released gacha has been inadvertently draining players’ bank balances – even if they didn’t intend to spend any money.
Yeah.
Reddit has been filled with complaints of people struck by the bug, with some players unexpectedly charged thousands of dollars – although it looks like refunds have been processed promptly, as you’d hope.
Gryphline, as was necessary, has acknowledged the issue promptly, advising players not to use PayPal to pay for items in-game while it issues a fix. It’s further added that “transactions involving abnormal item delivery or payment deduction will be handled accordingly”.

So, everyone should get their money refunded in a timely fashion, but those affected may have to go through rigorous security checks with their bank and could even incur charges. It’s basically a disaster.
We should add that any transactions made through the PS5 version go through PSN, so should be safe. But this is something to be aware of if you’re also playing on PC and mobile, as the title features full cross-save progression.
Either way, this is not the kind of story you want circulating around your gacha at launch, and it could shake confidence in the release entirely.
The dev is going to have to work overtime to restore confidence, but fortunately it does seem like its response was swift enough to prevent this issue from being even worse.
