I've been playing Fortnite regularly for years and I thought Fortnimares was the horde mode. I guess K-pop Demon Hunters has that covered this year. Gotta remember to stay out of haunted houses.
Curious if this will bring players back. For the past few years battle Royale has has a daily player count of around 200k during the week, higher on weekends, but it's been hovering around 90know. I've gone from winning 1 out of every 6 or 7 matches to winning 1 out of 3. I suppose everyone is splintered playing ranked, reload, Lego etc but I suppose at 90k just in BR mode they're still making money.
I feel like the survey is meant to convey full price, or close to it, and within say 30 days of release. Any game you buy digital is going to be "new" even if it's 5 years old on sale for $1US (or local equivalent). Does it include gifts? I buy games as gifts for my kids and nephew. Does it include $4.98 games at Target on the clearance end cap?
Survey should probably be at least 3 questions:
How many AAA games do you buy near release? How many indie games do you buy at release? How many games do you buy a year in total?
"New" isn't really helping.
I rarely buy anything AAA day 1 full price unless it's something 1st party from Nintendo b/c they don't do sales, and they seem to have dropped their "Selects" line, so why wait. There hasn't really been much I want to play though I thought was worth the cost. Wolverine may be say 1.
I play a lot of free to play, borrow stuff from my library, hit up some sales after games go "platinum" b/c gold is basically jyst a beta these days.
No 3rd person camera in the campaign, only zombies and multi-player, means I'll probably skip it. Also out of town for my 25ty wedding anniversary for most of those days. 25yrs, sheesh.
I'm still baffled that MS doesn't offer an annual plan for GPU. Most services that look expensive month to month tend to offer some savings buying in bulk. $30 GPU sold for $240 a year would get people back to $20 a month and MS would be paid up front.
I have to think people are going to more readily quit now and maybe sign up for a month or 2 when some really big game comes out they want to play. But then some of those people will be like "Wait, I can play it only for a month for $30 or own it for all time for $70, maybe I should just buy it".
Who knows, maybe that's MS real intention, make GPU so expensive that people start BUYING games again. MS still gets paid for the cheaper $10 a month so people can play online. Kinda makes sense.🤑

Fire everyone who thinks monthly option only is the way to go. All that does is get people to sign up for a month when they want a game then cancel. You need to lock them in with yearly subs, even if it means a stiff discount. That's just common sense.
I don't subscribe to any online services despite playing a lot of games online, including Fortnite, but it's all free, so this doesn't affect me any. My kid did just play a bunch of games on PC Gamepass w/ a 3month pass I bought for them for like $15 a year ago, but they'll just stick with Steam now.
The only people who win from this are Netflix, gaming is getting too expensive.🤑
@ShogunRok The deal isn't expected to close until early 2027, so nearly 1 1/2 years away, so people should have plenty of time to job hunt. The deal will almost certainly go through as MS's purchase did but this isn't Sony shutting down a studio today. People just need to use their time wisely.

@Runex2121 I like your PE comparison, I don't think we talk enough about TRU and KB Toys, but those deals were made by rich guys just looking to get richer. PIF already has so much money they're basically looking to launder it at this point. So while I'm sure they'll fire people RI don't think they're buying EA to run it into the ground, they're buying it to have something to do with all their money. Not that I would mind them killing EA, but I think they need a healthy investment more than they need to strip it clean like the mob.

Will read reviews for this one after reading all the comments about it being overly long and bloated. I think about 50 hours is my limit these days for a game like this, don't want to start 100.

Have you played Disney Speedstorm? It's a lot of fun w/ what I feel like are better graphics and controls than what I got out of the online test for this. (Be happy you don't have to look at this on Switch, it's terrible.) I currently can't recommend it b/c it's free to start with an insane amount of monetization. INSANE. But if you want to race, online or off, for fun for an hour or so a day, I still like it better than this, and MKW on our Switch 2. It's just too bad about the monetization. Oh and the online matchmaking sucks, very pay-to-win. 😢
@MrHabushi I've owned my home for 24 years. I've purchased numerous home appliances with big yellow energy stickers on them. I have never purchased a gaming console with an Energy Star compliance sticker on it and I doubt I ever will. I don't think this is a government regulation move. 🤷♂️

New commercial isn't bad, but they should deliver something first before mocking the champ.
I played the Switch demo on Switch 2, and it was Wii levels of ugly. Then I played it on PS5, and it was marginally better. Shouldn't have any trouble getting the Switch 2 version to compete graphically with the PS5 version.
I'm not really enamored w/ MKW or Sonic. MKW was kinda boring as a lot of people have pointed out, but Sonic seems too heavy of an emphasis on customization. Nothing wrong with that, i4 just seemed too much.
My favorite Kart game right now is free-to-start bordering on being a demo Disney Speedstorm. The monetization is borderline criminal, like $80 per character obnoxious, but the look and driving feel are great on PS5. Haven't tried the Switch 2 version, don't see the point. Tracks are limited but vary enough, and the single player keeps me entertained for 30 minutes a day. I mean it's racing, how much more than that do I need?
"streamlined progression feature" just sounds like "God mode" to me. Nothing wrong with that in a hash and slash mosou game but it kinda feels like not the point here. Have people been asking for an easy mode in FF7R? It's not exactly a souls like. Options never hurt I guess.
Will probably play it at some point w/ my wife but it's a $5 or $10 game for me if it's only about 5 hours. We still haven't played Split Fiction that I bought on sale recently for my kids to play.
All of this talk of "I can't wait until 2027 so that we can get a new console and some new games" is killing me. While I play on my PS5 every day I don't feel like I need new hardware, every game looks and plays fine. This isn't a 10yo hardware Switch situation where everything 3rd party was so limited. I'm never getting an 8k tv and I basically never need a new console.
It already takes them 5 years to make a new game, are we going to have to wait 10 years on PS6. Meaning PS6 gets no new games b/c they'll all be delayed to PS7.😝
I watched the Direct live yesterday morning and thought RE9 looked pretty bad to be honest, so much so that I thought RE7 and RE8 looked much better in comparison. I attributed that to 7 & 8 being PS4 games and 9 being PS5 but I don't play them so I don't know.
So anyway last night I watched the Direct on the Switch 2 w/ my wife and kid, fast forwarding thru the numerous lame games, and I thought RE9 looked fine, same as 7 and 8. That actually happens a lot w/ me and these live shows, watching trailers later will look noticeably better than live, so I'm impressed with what Capcom has pulled off on the tablet hardware. I think FF7R looked just as good as the PS4 version, so Squenix also got it right.
If you want to play on a home console PS5 is the way to go, but if you want to play on the go, Switch 2 seems capable. I only play on TV but I need those Nintendo 1st party games, so I own both. Switch 2 is for exclusives for me. But maybe I'll skip PS6 and make do. Though half those games will be on PS5 anyway so...

When I watched this I thought it might be the 3rd game in that spinoff series, Builders?, or that other spinoff series, so many DQ games, and I was kinda surprised it was based on an old game it looked so different.
Probably wouldn't pick it up day 1, and I wouldn't pay more for early access which you forgot to complain about, but it did look good. Probably years down the road. Especially if it's really long.

My live in girlfriend bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 1998 so we could play Parasite Eve, b/c we kept seeing the commercials for it on TV. I asked her to marry me the following year. Still going. The marriage and the PS1. I booted it up recently to check on my FF7 save files.
I'm glad I didn't get 1 at launch, I could never play games w/o the dual sticks. I don't think people talk enough about what a huge change that was that gen.
@get2sammyb Spidey and Wolverine are 2 extremely different characters. They might be able to pull off a similar look but that's about it if they're going to do Logan justice. Glad it's 3rd person. Anything else you know? Story? Is it another origin story? A long turn trip through his life? Main villians? For a game that's been 4 years, at least, in the making, I really don't know anything. I also have my PS3 Super Slim hooked up in the living room as my Blu ray and DVD player so I don't have to use my PS5 for that.

(Be happy you don't have to look at this on Switch, it's terrible.) I currently can't recommend it b/c it's free to start with an insane amount of monetization. INSANE. But if you want to race, online or off, for fun for an hour or so a day, I still like it better than this, and MKW on our Switch 2. It's just too bad about the monetization. Oh and the online matchmaking sucks, very pay-to-win. 😢

@MrHabushi I've owned my home for 24 years. I've purchased numerous home appliances with big yellow energy stickers on them. I have never purchased a gaming console with an Energy Star compliance sticker on it and I doubt I ever will. I don't think this is a government regulation move. 🤷♂️

It's weird that it's just for 3 games and not system wide. PS has done articles about not using your PS5 to stream b/c of the energy consumption, if this addressed that it would make sense w/ Sony owning Crunchy roll. But game special? 🤷♂️

@Dubplant Found you. 😁 I asked on the article earlier today if this was a way to save 1080p TV owners money. Why push 4k when 1080p will suffice? I think they would just call it 1080p mode if that were the case but who knows? 🤷♂️

Are there still people out there gaming on 1080p TVs? You shouldn't need to burn up your PS5 pushing 4k if your TV can't make use of it anyway. Though I suppose calling it "1080p Mode" would make more sense. Just a thought. A lot of indie games probably don't need PS5 power either. Some of them look like PS1 games. 🤷♂️
Does the update limit the 1GB SSDs to 825GB to give "system parity" with the new models? 😝

Wow I can't believe they really did this, and without even saying anything. I'm pretty sure they announced it every 6 months or so when they changed the size of the PS3 HDD. 😝

I don't think the size matters that much, but it's still 17%, so I'd want a reduction in price, this is BS. Not at the level of Other OS but Sony shouldn't want people remembering that lawsuit. I got my $20. 😂

New commercial isn't bad, but they should deliver something first before mocking the champ.
I played the Switch demo on Switch 2, and it was Wii levels of ugly. Then I played it on PS5, and it was marginally better. Shouldn't have any trouble getting the Switch 2 version to compete graphically with the PS5 version.
I'm not really enamored w/ MKW or Sonic. MKW was kinda boring as a lot of people have pointed out, but Sonic seems too heavy of an emphasis on customization. Nothing wrong with that, i4 just seemed too much.
My favorite Kart game right now is free-to-start bordering on being a demo Disney Speedstorm. The monetization is borderline criminal, like $80 per character obnoxious, but the look and driving feel are great on PS5. Haven't tried the Switch 2 version, don't see the point. Tracks are limited but vary enough, and the single player keeps me entertained for 30 minutes a day. I mean it's racing, how much more than that do I need?

"streamlined progression feature" just sounds like "God mode" to me. Nothing wrong with that in a hash and slash mosou game but it kinda feels like not the point here. Have people been asking for an easy mode in FF7R? It's not exactly a souls like. Options never hurt I guess.

All of this talk of "I can't wait until 2027 so that we can get a new console and some new games" is killing me. While I play on my PS5 every day I don't feel like I need new hardware, every game looks and plays fine. This isn't a 10yo hardware Switch situation where everything 3rd party was so limited. I'm never getting an 8k tv and I basically never need a new console.
It already takes them 5 years to make a new game, are we going to have to wait 10 years on PS6. Meaning PS6 gets no new games b/c they'll all be delayed to PS7.😝

I watched the Direct live yesterday morning and thought RE9 looked pretty bad to be honest, so much so that I thought RE7 and RE8 looked much better in comparison. I attributed that to 7 & 8 being PS4 games and 9 being PS5 but I don't play them so I don't know.
So anyway last night I watched the Direct on the Switch 2 w/ my wife and kid, fast forwarding thru the numerous lame games, and I thought RE9 looked fine, same as 7 and 8. That actually happens a lot w/ me and these live shows, watching trailers later will look noticeably better than live, so I'm impressed with what Capcom has pulled off on the tablet hardware. I think FF7R looked just as good as the PS4 version, so Squenix also got it right.
If you want to play on a home console PS5 is the way to go, but if you want to play on the go, Switch 2 seems capable. I only play on TV but I need those Nintendo 1st party games, so I own both. Switch 2 is for exclusives for me. But maybe I'll skip PS6 and make do. Though half those games will be on PS5 anyway so...

No, it's confirmed to be a multiplatform release, it's implied to be simultaneously. And obvious is neither confirmed nor implied, it's a hunch, a theory, or a guess. And if someone is going to write an article and say it is "confirmed" then they should be easily able to point to that confirmation. It shouldn't be only obvious or implied.🤷♂️

@get2sammyb Have you actually played DQ7? I played 8, 8 was great, but that's about it before 11.
When I watched this I thought it might be the 3rd game in that spinoff series, Builders?, or that other spinoff series, so many DQ games, and I was kinda surprised it was based on an old game it looked so different.
Probably wouldn't pick it up day 1, and I wouldn't pay more for early access which you forgot to complain about, but it did look good. Probably years down the road. Especially if it's really long.

My live in girlfriend bought it for me as a Christmas gift in 1998 so we could play Parasite Eve, b/c we kept seeing the commercials for it on TV. I asked her to marry me the following year. Still going. The marriage and the PS1. I booted it up recently to check on my FF7 save files.
I'm glad I didn't get 1 at launch, I could never play games w/o the dual sticks. I don't think people talk enough about what a huge change that was that gen.

@get2sammyb Spidey and Wolverine are 2 extremely different characters. They might be able to pull off a similar look but that's about it if they're going to do Logan justice. Glad it's 3rd person. Anything else you know? Story? Is it another origin story? A long turn trip through his life? Main villians? For a game that's been 4 years, at least, in the making, I really don't know anything.
