State of Play

Sony has hosted a State of Play livestream every February for the past five years, so the chances it would have another for next month were always high. However, the reliable leaker NateTheHate2 has now shared word one is indeed taking place in February 2026.

In response to a simple question of whether there'll be a State of Play showcase next month, the insider provides a very simple answer: "There will be, yes."

State of Play livestreams are generally filled with mostly third-party announcements, and are supplemented by a handful of first-party reveals. With a showcase next month, Sony may choose to focus on Saros, Marvel's Wolverine, and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from a PlayStation Studios perspective.

There's also the possibility of further information and news for Marathon, the next big game from Bungie. It's due out on 5th March 2026 as a multi-platform release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Other contenders — at least from a first-party perspective — include a Firesprite game, the two MMO Horizon projects, whatever Media Molecule has in the works, and Fairgames. History would suggest the State of Play will only feature a few PlayStation Studios announcements — these aren't the PlayStation Showcase blowouts of five years ago anymore.
