When my kid graduated college a couple of years back I was extremely worried about AI use in video game development.
Now I've moved on to worrying about Mechahitler, cars driven by Mechahitler, what if Mechahitler decides Humans suck and need to be handled, what if Mechahitler and Chatgpt decide there's only room for one and decide to try to take each other out by any means necessary.
I'm old. I've seen all the AI end of the world movies. And I can tell you right now not all of them are going to come true. It's just fiction after all. But think about this. Think about all the movies where AI goes bad and destroys everything. Then think about all the AI movies where everything turns out great.
There's only one way this ends, and I'm guessing it's not 1 of the few good ones.π±
Is the 3 days early play time in the video for all preorders or only the digital deluxe edition?
I agree w/ Sammy that paying extra for a deluxe edition to play early is kind of scummy but if it's a way of rewarding everyone who preorders the game I'm OK w/ that. They may get a lot of preorders just for the werewolf car w/ the Wolverine claws. Of course the 3 days early is probably digital only, not physical, but the world is heading that way anyway, might as well get something out of it.π€·ββοΈ
Nice to see it on PS4 as well. I mean if it can run it, why not.
@DennisReynolds "CDPR have been doing it for the game since before the game was even released"
Maybe that's why the game had to be recalled and refunded on PS4, spending too much time on live streams when they should have been focusing on making the game functional. π
@Kiefer-Sutherland I'm not complaining about the trailer, I'm complaining about the announcement of a trailer.π
Announcements of announcements is a pet peeve of mind. If you have something to announce, just announce it, you don't need to announce an announcement. It's like having a commercial for an upcoming commercial.
OK so in this case it's half that, my pet peeve, and also a 2.2 to 2.3 upgrade needing a live stream. Live streams should be for big new reveals, not this minor update. I think the company making this game has already moved onto the next one so I'm not expecting anything ground breaking stop the presses in this.π€·ββοΈ
I just read the update at the top of the page, not impressed. Though I can't even tell if the livesteam has happened yet or not so...
Don't know what's going on, don't really care, but what's the game play? Reminded me of the original Genji game, still 1 of my favorites, but it could be a turn based strategy board game from what I could tell.π€·ββοΈ
Poll needed a 4th option: Cut their losses like "Batgirl" and be done with it. π No offense @theSpectre I'm 50/50 on whether they proceed or not. If they announce they can finish it in a 10 episode season 3 in 2027 might as well, but if they announce 2 more 7 episode seasons in 2027 and 2029 don't bother.π€·ββοΈ
Which 90s films were you thinking of? The 2 movies I think this will look like most are Willow 1988 and Eragon 2006. Those are basically the same movie only Eragon has a dragon, don't think Zelda will.
All of the LOTR and Hobhit movies are after 2000 but I never put them in the same category as the cheapo 80s stuff, they're actual films. Who knows, maybe they can get this there.
Oh I forgot Legend. Maybe this is just Legend. Probably the closest.
@LiamCroft Thanks Liam. You got anything since the renewal announcement? This Fandom page seems a bit confused. It says sole survivor Craig Mazin hadn't started writing season 3 yet as of April but also the show began filming June 30th, which I hadn't heard. Isabel Merced, aka Hawkgirl, said she wasn't filing until 2026. I know she won't have much screen time in Abbys timeline but we all know what happens when the lights go dark and the shot rings out.
Don't trouble yourself. I'll do a deep dive after I pick my wife up at the train. Gotta be more than this.π€·ββοΈ
Edit: As of 2 weeks ago it seems like nothing has started on season 3 yet, so I'm still not completely convinced, renewed or not. Maybe winning a bunch of Emmys will speed things along.
@DennisReynolds You don't think it's ridiculous to announce a live stream for an update of a 5 year old game? Why does this have to be live, and why does it need to be announced? OK in hindsight it does probably have to be announced if it's live, I just don't see why it needs to be live. Just update the game and drop a trailer on YT and mention it on social media.
Man, if a 5yr old game is getting announcements for live trailers for an update from 2.2 to 2.3 I can only imagine what we're going to get next year for the GTA 6 release. Actual live human virgins sacrificed by being thrown into a volcano, 1 a day for the week leading up to the game?π
@Paramahansa You're welcome. Sometimes these articles on here and NL mention Steam, sometimes they don't. When there's a free demo available on Steam it seems like an easy thing to mention, most people here probably have some hardware they can try out a demo on. I don't think Steam is affecting Sony or Push square all that much. I mean if it's only releasing at the same on Steam no reason to mention it here unless they're getting paid for it, but a year old game w/ a demo, reviews and a price seems useful.π€·ββοΈ
If Spiderman gets ported to Xbox I don't think anyone should care at this point, it's a last gen game, gotta be like 8 years old. Spiderman 2 I'd be a little more hesitant on, depending on how well the first game sold.
Not doing a 2 pack bundle, $60 each. Spiderman 3 won't see light of day on an Xboxen console, they'll be dead by then.
Tak and the Power of Juju 5. Or 7. Whatever it was up to.
Definitely my thing. Kind of surprised it's getting a physical release. Also surprised it's also not coming to Switch 2 but maybe they haven't gotten a dev kit yet.
I'll buy it on sale or maybe borrow it from the library, depending on game length. Glad to see these kind of games still being made though.π
Edit: Relevant info (that the article probably could have mentioned but whatever).
Game released on Steam a year ago after about a year on early access.
It's only $25 US, real price, not a sale price.
About 40 hours of game time.
There seems to be some dlc and bundles.
76 review score.
I'm guessing $40 on disc, but $30 would be great. Wish I had a PC, I'd give it a go.
I haven't seen anyone else mention it so I'll chime in.
Switch 2 launched recently and it's very light in the streaming apps department. And now Sony is showing this video promoting streaming on PS5. Coincidence?π€·ββοΈ
I don't use my PS5 for streaming b/c I've read enough on PS about how much power it uses. Keep beating that drum. Not enough people beating it over AI.π
@crudfish Thanks. I suppose a guy who loves DQ that much isn't going to be biased at all on what the best games on the PS1 are. π It is good to know as much as he personally liked the game, and the series as a whole, he still wasn't pushing it to be on PS1 Classic. It's good to be self aware. My favorite games always seem to be the least liked. Like Starfox Adventures being my favorite Starfox and GameCube game. And Sonic Adventure being my favorite Sonic game and probably top 5 Dreamcast games. I'm not putting them on any lists though, I'm aware of my quirks. π
@Gryzor Man, and people call me a Squenix fanboi. π I've never seen a Zelda game stand out on a list like that. Like people just snuck it in to see if anyone was paying attention. I've never played OoT either but in my head it's THE Zelda game, like the Mario 64 of Zelda games. I was going to play it after Twilight Princess but then I saw some trailers and it looked too much like TP for me to want to play it. Then I played Skyward Sword b/c it was new and I really didn't like it so less interest in OoT now. Then my kid started OoT on 3DS and stopped b/c bored, so I'm over it. Though I suppose if they redid it in a modern engine, not Nintendo's idea of a modern engine, an actual modern engine, maybe I'd finally give it a go.
This list may have inspired me to play DQ3 HD-2D. Not a fan of pixels or HD-2D but if these gamers voted it 3rd, ahead of 8 which is great, well I'm intrigued. Not too worried about 9th. Though if the rumour is true, who knows.
Oh, you don't like the 3 day structure, you want it in chronological order, well we'll give you chronological order, in the worst way possible, strictly chronological, no flashbacks whatsoever, and you'll be begging us to never do that again. π
Flashbacks are an acceptable part of all media, books, movies, games, and it can be very well used. I don't recall reading about anyone complaining about the game having flashbacks. The problem a lot of people had was with the 3 day structure, not the flashbacks.
I assumed chronological order meant day 1 Ellie then Abby, day 2 Ellie then Abbey, Day 3 Ellie then Abbey, including the flashbacks where they belonged in each day.
But that probably would have taken slightly more effort, and may have made it better, this way was easier and making it worse was a plus.
I'd still like to play the entire Uncharted this way, beginning to end w/ no flashbacks, but that's pretty much all about Nathan, so it doesn't really matter. It doesn't work w/ Abbey as a new protagonist when we all want Ellie and Joel. I still think they could have made it work, if they put in the work, so I can't help but think they didn't want it to work.π€·ββοΈ
@crudfish Tim Rogers - might be a different one - had a Twitter post in 2018 about what 32 games he would have put on the PS Classic. Probably really no surprise to anyone here that DQ7 isn't on his list. There are 85 replies, I only read through several, but didn't see it mentioned.
In case anyone is now wondering, like I was, is DQ7 on the PS Classic? No, it was not. Had it been I probably would have played it by now and save myself a lot of time. π
Battle Arena Toshinden Cool Boarders 2 Destruction Derby Final Fantasy VII Grand Theft Auto Intelligent Qube Jumping Flash Metal Gear Solid Mr Driller Oddworld: Abeβs Oddysee Rayman Resident Evil Directorβs Cut Revelations: Persona Ridge Racer Type 4 Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Syphon Filter Tekken 3 Tom Clancyβs Rainbow Six Twisted Metal Wild Arms
I think most people are in agreement that game compilation was not ideal, so I'm not arguing it meant anything, it doesn't. Had it been on there, well I'd look kind of stupid now, wouldn't I.π
Oh, and just for fun, here's what AI assumed when I searched for Tim Rogers top 5 PS1 games. I don't use AI but my browser does.
"AI Overview
Tim Rogers' top 5 PS1 games, in no particular order, are likely to include Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Resident Evil 2, and Silent Hill. These titles are frequently cited as classics and are known for their innovation and impact on the industry. "
Who reads Famitsu? I'm pretty sure that's a Japanese centric publication. I wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't familiar with half of the games on that list, b/c as I already wrote earlier - which you could have easily missed b/c I have several comments in this thread:
"OK maybe in Japan, I have no knowledge of what happened in Japan in 2000, like most DQ games over there it was big"
So I'm glad for it that Japan thinks it's great. Maybe had I played it I'd think it's great as well. I've never played GTAV, but I've most certainly read about it. Doom, Halo, FIFA, Madden, Gran Turismo. I don't play FPS or sports games, but I read about them a lot. More than I, or most people on here, have about DQ7. Outside of Japan.
You got a link to that list, now you got me curious? π€·ββοΈ
@NonbinaryStarr Never said I used Google, b/c I didn't, but if that's the only reply you have, I accept your GG.
@NonbinaryStarr If DQ7 had a zeitgeist moment, whether I had played it or not, I probably would at least know about it and most of the comments in this thread wouldn't exist. π
OK maybe in Japan, I have no knowledge of what happened in Japan in 2000, like most DQ games over there it was big. But there are few "Top 5 PS1 JRPG" lists that include DQ7. I searched the web, it's barely a thing. π€·ββοΈ
@John_Deacon Well I guess the engagement worked. π I feel like I would have played DQ7 had it released in 97-2000 in the US but between buying a house mid 2001, I played the first half of Skies of Arcadia in my apartment and the 2nd half in my house, and the PS2 and Dreamcast, no time for PS1 games in 2022. 0
@charbtronic Yeah I missed Wild Arms as well but honestly before this article if someone asked me to list ALL the JRPG on PS1 I probably would have recalled Wild Arms at some point but not DQ7. Thankfully it was explained to me why earlier, so I don't feel too bad about it, but I still think "without question" is a bit strong.
Now I'm curious but the 100 hour play time is scaring me off. If they remade it to look modern, not like FF7R just DQ11, I'd probably play it. Not a fan of 2DHD or pixels.
Funny thing about all of this, I hated Vagrant Story, it was just a slow brown boring cave crawl for me (screw those bats), and Parasite Eve was great, the first PS1 game I played, but I don't consider either of them to be JRPG, they're just their own thing.
Guess it's all just opinions all the way down.π€£
@NonbinaryStarr I don't think anyone was using echo chamber in the PS generation,I think the word your looking for is fanboi, but as I already mentioned Lunar & Grandia, both from Game Arts, and Dragoon, from Sony, well that's a sizeable chunk of my original JRPG list made by a company other than Squaresoft. So it wasn't a company bias, I have no issue w/ Enix, I also already mentioned DQ8 was awesome. I can see your point though.
@DaveTheRave Thank you, it was probably 3 then. I can never remember b/c they bundled them all weird back then. 4 of them, 1&2 Origins 5&6 Anthology, came in pairs and 4 came w/ Chrono Trigger in Chronicles. They're all on my shelf, just checked.π
@darkswabber "their opinions"
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and if they would have said "1 of my favorites" that's fine, more power to them. But to say "WITHOUT QUESTION", well that's kind of taking their own opinion out of it and sort of stating it as a fact. π€·ββοΈ
@Lowdefal "The real killer? DQ7's US release was November 2001, the same month as Final Fantasy X."
Thank you very much, for all of that. Does explain a lot. I bought a PS2 for FFX soon after that game released, probably wasn't going back to PS1 much after that, PS2 is my favorite console of all time for the JRPG and all of the 3D platformers. So it does explain why I missed it.
That was over 20 yrs ago now and I really can't recall seeing it high on many lists. Or at all. Might be biased b/c I never played it but I never played any of the Suikoden or Saga games but I feel like I read about them a lot.π€·ββοΈ
"Dragon Quest 7 is, without question, one of the greatest RPGs on the PS1."
Can we get an opinion on this from someone who actually likes JRPGs?π€·ββοΈ PS1 was my heyday for JRPG, both built for it and I think a lot of them were ports though I didn't know it at the time. And I don't think I've ever played this. Pretty sure as I think 8 on PS2 was my first DQ game and it was awesome.
On PS1 I played
FF7,8,9 (also 1-6 but I'm missing 1 of them I think) Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon, Lunar Silver Star Story Complete, Grandia, Xenogears
and that's just off the top of my head.
And I can't recall ever reading "DQ7 is 1 of the best JRPG on PS1, you really have to play it." Really not ever. π€·ββοΈ
@AdamNovice 5? Nice, thanks.π Just ordered Split Fiction today for $35 on Amazon. I think that game is done now as far as I've read. If this is finished now might be time to pick it up next time it's on sale.
Just ordered Split Fiction for $35 b/c my kid's girlfriend is arriving later today to spend a week with us so I figure that will give them something to do. And my wife and I will play it after they leave.
Came for the Wolverine comments, not disappointed. There's a Black Panther & Captain America game out there tok somewhere, right?
You know, after Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, maybe all these companies are holding off on all of these superhero games until the movie situation improves. Superman seems to be well received and FF has potential, and then Avengers again and again. Who knows, maybe things will turn for the games as well? π€·ββοΈ
Looking forward to season 2. I had a 2 month free trial of Peacock, I think from Target, that I went to cancel when it was over, and they offered me 6 months at $1.99/m, so I'm good to go. Still need to start watching season 2 of Pokerface as well. The "Love Hurts" movie was better than the reviews.
If they did this with all of the Uncharted games, except the handheld, I'd play them again. The first game always felt kind of lame and I'm not a fan of the first half of tye 3rd game being a flashback but if they put them all in order it would be kinda cool. Also weird not having Sam show up for nearly the entire experience but at least he'd be there right at the beginning even before Sully.
Maybe some day HBO will let you watch seasons 2 and 3 intertwined as well. If they ever do make season 3. I won't believe it until they start production.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy If you're playing this for the platinum good luck. I'm at 250 hours and I have 75% of trophies. I've read there is 1 trophy requirement that is really time consuming to get. I don't recall the details b/c I don't care, but it was a large number of something.
I'm free to play and haven't had any problem moving forward. My only hiccup was not doing the styling challenges in each region b/c they seemed silly. To get to the final boss fight you have to do them all though, so I spent about a week doing nothing but those. π
I can't recall how the chapters worked but the main area of the map is fairly slow and boring but the last 2 areas that open up really make it feel like a fantasy JRPG which is when I really got into it. I just wish they would have required the styling challenges to be completed before letting us move forward.
Exchange your free vitality every day for bubbles and threads. This was my first Gatcha and I didn't do that for the first few months. I currently have 54,000 diamonds and 4 million $ but I never try to get the clothes.
@Nekomichu Hadn't seen anything about 1.8 or 2.0. So I'm not so in the dark where should I be looking for info? I get everything from Instagram posts and occasionally I'll do a web search. Like I was doing last week for 1.7 before seeing the new trailer last night. Housing doesn't matter to me personally but I really liked the main game, minus the gate keeping styling competitions, and am looking forward to 2.0. I would gladly play the rest of the fame for years, but I would like a roadmap.
@pyrrhic_victory The story wasn't exactly retconned, they've said as much. And as someone who has played since day 1 the additional content seems fine. Similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe adding a multiverse so they can do whatever they want.
The problem is, and it is a huge problem, is that anyone who started playing the game since the 1.5 update starts the game in the multiverse, without seeing the original opening story that explains Nikki's arrival in the game. So it appears the story is retconned for new players b/c new players aren't seeing the original opening for some stupid reason. That's on Infold. But I think the new storyline works. They just needed new players to only see it AFTER finishing the main storyline in the game. But then no multi-player, so they botched it. Big time. It must make the game seem really weird to anyone starting it now. Hopefully they do fix that somehow and bring the original opening back. Maybe add this new opening in somewhere in the middle. There's a particular point in the game, very early on, that you need to reach for most anything to happen, I suppose they could add it there.
This feels like just another update like the last few updates that will have about a 1 hour story then another 3 or 4 hours of exposition missions leaving everyone wanting more.
I don't go on YT for the comments but the Instagram replies certainly have been getting worse.
There used to be a lot more defenders. I was one of them. After finishing the huge main story I suspected it would be a good 6 months before the game offered anything substantial like the next new region in the game. I believe they even said so before the game launched, major updates about every 6 months. So every 3 to 4 weeks when we got a new update the past 6 months I wasn't expecting much. But it's been 6 months now, and they aren't very forthcoming with a decent roadmap. Even Disney Speedstorm, which seemingly everyone has stopped playing, has a roadmap for the next few months, Toy Story just started, then Alice in Wonderland followed by Winnie the Pooh. But IN seems long term silent.
Also not helping is the lack of a house or home for Nikki. That I'm pretty sure was in a trailer once upon a time, naybe even before the game released, but nothing there either.
I understand these things take time, and with 5 or 6 more miracle outfits and as many regions to go, I always assumed this game was going to take 4 or 5 or 6 years to finish, but they need to do a better job explaining that to people. What they are doing now is not going to grow the player base, just keep shrinking it. π’
Here's the story cut scene, basically a post game cut scene setting up future content. Start the Video around 17:30 to avoid actual end game spoilers and just watch the video that probably should have started the game, not ended it. π€·ββοΈ
Romero's entire company going under really has to be one of those - Well if THAT guy can't make it in the video game industry what hope is there for the rest of us? I mean the guy's career survived Daikatana. And now thus happens 25 years later.
@Haruki_NLI I really feel like tech has to be close to the point where we don't need home consoles anymore, we can just play on our phones on our TV. Then every company can just be 3rd party.
I know it's not up to snuff for a lot of people who need 8k photorealism 180fps graphics but I was able to play a few Apple Arcade games on my TV w/ my PS5 controller no problem. No Apple hub or some such, just a built in Roku OS. So the technology is already technically here. I suppose there's a lag reason Switch 2 needs a dock instead of wireless, but wouldn't USB to HDMI work, like my kid does w/ their laptop to play Gamepass games w/ their PS5 controller? (What can I say we like the bad battery PS5 controllers and my kid's HDMI never worked so USB-C to HDMI π€·ββοΈ)
So why do we need consoles? Who doesn't have a phone, tablet, laptop or PC? And cloud streaming to tvs will probably be a thing at some point. Consoles are a dead end tech.
Phil should not have the ability to retire, he should be fired. MS can afford the $25 million golden parachute or whatever stupid amount they'll pay him to make him go away.
I'm sure the decision would P'off a few dozen go woke go broke incels but they could probably make up the lost revenue by not having Phil in charge. What do they really need him for anyway? Like, what does he do? π€·ββοΈ
Just read about Gross. Don't know anything about them but losing a co-writer doesn't seem like a net positive for starting a new season on the show.π€·ββοΈ
@Shepherd_Tallon I'm in the US (just in case you're over there) and I've been posting
#RIPUSA πΊπΈ #USspring
on BS for about 4 months now but so far nothing. We'll OK 11 million people had a parade 1 Saturday but that's about it so far. It's crazy to me we haven't seen more yet. At least take a day and protest on a Wednesday. General strike. Stop paying taxes - that can't come after all of us, they just fired the IRS.
I know that's politics but it's all connected. Dems should have paraded Luigi around like a hero like the GOP did w/ Rittenhouse.π US lost 30k jobs last month, the so called experts predicted a gain of 100k. AI isn't helping. Unions are shrinking. It's a mess 50 years in the making, thanks Regean, and it's all connected.
Major civilizations last 250 years. The US turns 250 next year. Coincidence? π€·ββοΈ
I have nothing to say about Neil but I can imagine this might be the end for season 3. I didn't like it in the game and I never thought it would work for a TV show that only has 6-8 episodes once every year or 2.
Despite what people say on here about the actors the show was about Joel and Ellie. Season 3 may as well be titled like a spin-off show - TLOU:Abbey's Story. Like 1 of the many Walking Dead shows. And I think that's going to be a problem for TV ratings.
Will HBO, who mess up a lot, spend 2 years and the necessary megabucks for a spinoff?
Maybe ask the people who made Batgirl? π€·ββοΈ
@ZeroSum "that's seen profits fall below expectations"
Except the numbers were well ahead of expectations, not below. Have you seen their stock price, up 30% the past 3 months. MS didn't need to fire 9,000 people right now.
@Lowdefal The revenue wasn't $23Billion, that was the net profit. The revenue was $70 billion. For 3 months. So over $7B per month net profit. And they just fired 9,000 people.
"Microsoft reported nearly $26 billion in net income on $70 billion in revenue for the March quarter. The numbers were well ahead of Wall Streetβs consensus, keeping Microsoft ranked as one of the most profitable companies in the S&P 500 index, according to data compiled by FactSet."
@darrenhupke Just looked up their stocked after reading your comment. Yup, up about 33% in just the past 2 1/2 months, 380 to 500. And today announcing 9,000 layoffs will likely put it up even higher. π€
Just saw the news on Bloomberg TV (I watch it b/c it's free) and came here to get all the details.
The fact that Phil can write all of that and not have it end with him committing seppuku tells you all you need to know, not just about him, and Microsoft, but the world at large. We're all disposable and the big wigs just keep getting paid.π€
That makes more sense than all the people saying "it's hot outside" but no problem for several hours of playing only for minutes on the map. Has to be the coding. If game = world map then fan speed = high.

@Hyena_socks "cheapo 90s fantasy throwback"
Probably the closest.
https://youtu.be/w3ZWskwjHG4?si=UqmIpSqPz_aFnmk6
For it's time, I consider Excalibur 1981 the OG of fantasy films. But I think it's too dark and adult for Zelda.

Re: The Last of Us Season 2 Gets 16 Emmy Awards Nominations

Is this true? All I've read is nothing is happening yet. I suppose it could be greenlit, but "Batgirl" was finished and they still haven't shown it.
I mean after all these Emmy noms I guess they'll do another season. Is recently canceled Wheel of Time up for any? π€·ββοΈ

Wait, didn't the Emmys used to be about TV shows on network TV? Almost all I see are Netflix, Hulu, Apple and HBO. Oh well.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.3 Showcase Announced for Tomorrow
Re: PS5 Action RPG KAKU: Ancient Seal Has Real Throwback Appeal

Re: PS5 Action RPG KAKU: Ancient Seal Has Real Throwback Appeal

Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
Re: Hands On: Chronological Mode Is a Fascinating Way to Play The Last of Us 2 Again
It reads like Naughty Dog said:
Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
@crudfish Tim Rogers - might be a different one - had a Twitter post in 2018 about what 32 games he would have put on the PS Classic. Probably really no surprise to anyone here that DQ7 isn't on his list. There are 85 replies, I only read through several, but didn't see it mentioned.
https://x.com/108/status/1057014742697558016
In case anyone is now wondering, like I was, is DQ7 on the PS Classic? No, it was not. Had it been I probably would have played it by now and save myself a lot of time. π
Battle Arena Toshinden
Cool Boarders 2
Destruction Derby
Final Fantasy VII
Grand Theft Auto
Intelligent Qube
Jumping Flash
Metal Gear Solid
Mr Driller
Oddworld: Abeβs Oddysee
Rayman
Resident Evil Directorβs Cut
Revelations: Persona
Ridge Racer Type 4
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Syphon Filter
Tekken 3
Tom Clancyβs Rainbow Six

Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
@Gryzor "Famitsu readers"
Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
@NonbinaryStarr If DQ7 had a zeitgeist moment, whether I had played it or not, I probably would at least know about it and most of the comments in this thread wouldn't exist. π
OK maybe in Japan, I have no knowledge of what happened in Japan in 2000, like most DQ games over there it was big. But there are few "Top 5 PS1 JRPG" lists that include DQ7. I searched the web, it's barely a thing. π€·ββοΈ
@John_Deacon Well I guess the engagement worked. π
I feel like I would have played DQ7 had it released in 97-2000 in the US but between buying a house mid 2001, I played the first half of Skies of Arcadia in my apartment and the 2nd half in my house, and the PS2 and Dreamcast, no time for PS1 games in 2022.
Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
Just went and did an internet search, and DQ7 was a PS JRPG and it had it's fans, but it never shows up as high top tier or anything.
I found this list where it was ranked at number 16.
https://www.denofgeek.com/games/best-ps1-rpgs-ever-all-time/#disqus_thread

https://www.reddit.com/r/JRPG/comments/nt8kkk/what_are_the_best_ps1_jrpgs/
Funny thing about all of this, I hated Vagrant Story, it was just a slow brown boring cave crawl for me (screw those bats), and Parasite Eve was great, the first PS1 game I played, but I don't consider either of them to be JRPG, they're just their own thing.
Guess it's all just opinions all the way down.π€£
Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
@darkswabber "their opinions"
Re: Rumour: Unforgettable RPG Dragon Quest 7 Tipped for PS5 Release
And I can't recall ever reading "DQ7 is 1 of the best JRPG on PS1, you really have to play it." Really not ever. π€·ββοΈ

You know, after Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, maybe all these companies are holding off on all of these superhero games until the movie situation improves. Superman seems to be well received and FF has potential, and then Avengers again and again. Who knows, maybe things will turn for the games as well? π€·ββοΈ
Re: Twisted Metal Shapes Up for Another Season of Sublimely Stupid Television
Looking forward to season 2. I had a 2 month free trial of Peacock, I think from Target, that I went to cancel when it was over, and they offered me 6 months at $1.99/m, so I'm good to go. Still need to start watching season 2 of Pokerface as well. The "Love Hurts" movie was better than the reviews.
Re: The Last of Us Part 2's Chronological Update Out Now on PS5, PC, Lets You Play Through the Story in Linear Order
Re: Free PS5 Fashion Platformer Infinity Nikki Seeks Redemption in Blue Tears Update
Re: Free PS5 Fashion Platformer Infinity Nikki Seeks Redemption in Blue Tears Update
Re: Free PS5 Fashion Platformer Infinity Nikki Seeks Redemption in Blue Tears Update
"For those of you still playing Infinity Nikki"
I feel seen.π
Start the Video around 17:30 to avoid actual end game spoilers and just watch the video that probably should have started the game, not ended it. π€·ββοΈ

Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony

Re: Major Xbox Layoffs Underway, First Studios Notified
@darrenhupke Just looked up their stocked after reading your comment. Yup, up about 33% in just the past 2 1/2 months, 380 to 500. And today announcing 9,000 layoffs will likely put it up even higher. π€
Re: Major Xbox Layoffs Underway, First Studios Notified
Just saw the news on Bloomberg TV (I watch it b/c it's free) and came here to get all the details.
The fact that Phil can write all of that and not have it end with him committing seppuku tells you all you need to know, not just about him, and Microsoft, but the world at large. We're all disposable and the big wigs just keep getting paid.π€
Re: PS6 to 'Push the Boundaries' of Graphics, Doubles Down on Machine Learning
Ah that's too bad, I was hoping they'd be shooting for PS6 graphics somewhere between PS and PS2. Missed opportunity.π

@Medic_alert Good call on the HZD world map issue. I don't believe in coincidence.

That makes more sense than all the people saying "it's hot outside" but no problem for several hours of playing only for minutes on the map. Has to be the coding. If game = world map then fan speed = high.
@Northern_munkey Nice.π
