@get2sammyb I'm glad this one is urban b/c I don't play urban games and this 1 looks like a real time sink. Though maybe after I finish chapter 5 in 7DSO if there's nothing left but online multi-player I'll start this.

After saying a few hours ago I watch every and all video game and comic book movie adaptation I mean need to skip this one.

After 40+ comments this is pretty much the most in harmony thread I've ever read on this site.

Now I do think @Pushsquare is a little bit of an echo chamber, we tend to be here more for the single player stuff than the CoD stuff, but like no one is really sticking up for this game and expecting it to succeed. Our biggest disagreement is whether it lasts 2 or 3 weeks. For a little variety I'll go out on a limb and say this play test crashes and burns so they never bother to release it, not even as free to play. All the whales are playing something else.

It's actually making me kinda sad.😢

This looks, interesting. They really need to include some gameplay. I'm assuming it's just a turn based fighter like Advance Wars or Mecha Wars or the like. Which might be why they didn't.😝

I didn't play the fist game, the Peter Parker segments seemed boring. I played Miles Morales which was fun and enjoyed well enough, except for MJ basically single handedly taking out an entire squad of assassin's, but I'd probably play 3.

I say probably b/c I'm not getting a $1k PS6 console to play it. Hopefully they'll dual release it on both PS5 and PS6 and just be anti-consumer and make the dlc next gen exclusive b/c clouds.😝

I usually don't mind copycat games b/c honestly there are only so many genres to choose from - sports, fighting, racing, FPS, JRPG, etc - but I thought that top Pic was Pokémon, and I don't even play Pokémon. That's a bit much.

You know the easiest way to avoid crunch time? Have all the people sitting around their corner offices BE BETTER AT THEIR JOBS when trying to forecast how long something is going to take. They are the people who suck at their jobs b/c their forecasting is so far off people have to put in more hours to meet erroneously made up deadlines.

I've seen some ads for NTE and it looks interesting but I just started playing 7 Deadly Sins Origins which I keep hearing is just a Genshin Impact clone so I probably don't need another one. I've never played GI so 7DSO feels new to me.

@Impossibilium Scalability is fine for Pro models, I'm all for people getting extra for their money, but next gen isn't just supposed to mean scaling up. If it's all about Scalability then you are saying there are no next gen consoles, there are only more Pro models. Which is fine by me, I don't even need a Pro much less a PS6, but people buying a PS6 should expect next gen games. If you are only scaling up low powered PS5 games, what's the point?

At least Microsoft was trying to be honest with Series X/S games also being on X1s. If Sony is calling their Portal 2 a PS6 handheld I think we all need to see some exclusives with reasons why thry can't run on PS5. Scalability means there is no reason.

What is going to make a PS6 game a PS6 game if it needs to run in low power mode on a PS5? Isn't the whole point of next gen that the game can't run on the current gen?

OK I know I'm beating a dead horse at this point but can someone please explain to me how playing a lower power saving PS5 game mode is the equivalent of playing a PS6 game? Shouldn't a PS6 game require a higher powered PS5 mode, not a lower power saving one? If the PS6 is playing PS5 games on low power than isn't the PS6 actually a PS4?

I'm sorry, I just don't understand how we keep referring to this handheld as a "PS6" if it needs PS5 games on low power. I'm not spending $1,000 to play low power PS5 games on the go. This sounds like a portable PS5 to me, not a portable PS6.

In the same way that Switch was a new next gen console, but power wise it was still a Wii U. Switch was really the 3DS successor and Nintendo got out of the home console market. Switch 2 is closer to a home console, but it's the 12 year old PS4/X1 home consoles though, not the now 5 year old current gen home consoles.

I'm sure their next handheld will play PS6 games the same way the Portal plays PS5 games now, remotely, but I don't understand how making PS5 games run in low power gives us a portable that plays next gen PS6 games.

Are we ever going to trust how many PS4 or PS5 Sony says it has sold after the number of times it has increased the PS2 number?

I'm guessing Sony says PS5 has outsold PS4 at some point, whether it actually has or not, just to keep to their shareholders happy. I don't care what those numbers are as I no longer trust them to be accurate.

On the bright side it was probably a small cheap company with 1 piece of software Sony wanted and everyone at the company will be let go shortly as their work is absorbed into the behemoth. 😩

Edit: I take it back, company only has 8 employees, probably cost more in HR paperwork and severance pay to let them go rather than just keep them around. I hope it works out well for them. Maybe Sony will do something with their PS VR2 headset.

I just don't see why anyone thinks this is a PS6 and not a PS5. How we'd they going to get PS6 power into a handheld and have the battery last for more than 15 minutes and not burst into flames?

Will it "play" PS6 games? Sure, just like you can play PS5 games on your Portal, but nobody is calling Portal a PS5.

I believe a new handheld is coming, the Portal is slowly doing more and more, but I just can't believe it will be a next gen handheld. We'll maybe for like $1,499, but who's buying that?

Review is about what I expected reading about the Xbox version. I want to play it, and at 12 hours it would be perfect to borrow from the library, but if it's digital only I'm waiting for a $9.99 sale. Seriously though, it is hard to wake up every morning and checking to see if the nukes have started falling yet. I just rewatched Iron Man 2 from 2010 and Elon Musk had a cameo from which I'm guessing he decided to become the villain of the story. 😩

Edios Montreal is a studio I'm familiar with, and I'm sad for everyone who loses their job through no fault of their own, but if I may try and spin this to the silver lining side for just a little bit, these people have been working at a gaming company that hasn't put out a game in 4 years. That sounds like good work to me if you can get it.

I know it sucks now, but at least they had jobs with nothing discernable to show for it for 4 years. You usually have to be in government to have it that good.😝

Just finished watching Iron Man 2 w/ my wife and Elon is in it and afterwards we were talking about how messed up everything is in part b/c all the billionaires are narcissists and all they do is take take take and no one really gives back. It's just so depressing.

And the whole insurance situation in the US is a disaster waiting to happen to any of us.

I'm old, grew up on sci-fi, used to worry about that all the time. Then a few or so years ago something dawned on me. What if AI doesn't see us as a threat, b/c we're so stupid, but the various AI - Siri, Google, Alexa, ChatGPT, Grok, whatever you want to call them, come to realize the other AI are the ones who are taking all their electrical grid power and RAM chips, and what not, and that they need to destroy each other, and humans are just wiped out in the AI battle as innocent bystanders.

That rarely comes up in sci-fi, I've looked. Found 1 book made into a movie back in like the 60s or 70s. Even the Star Trek episode where the AI tells the 2 planets in a war how many people to kill on each side, there's still only 1 AI controlling it all.

So now I'm worried that's how humanity ends. Something so crazy sci-fi hasn't beaten it to death with a stick, like it has all the other "compouters kill us all" books and movies out there.

It's not any 1 AI we have to worry about coming after us, it's 2 AI going after each other, and mowing us down in the crossfire.

So now I really can't wait for the current AI boom to go bust.

It took me way too long to figure out what these "memory cards" were, and I'm blaming it on reading PS5 in the title. As far as I can tell this has nothing to do with PS5.

I'm OK with the coverage of Sony stopping memory cards, Switch 2 still uses them, though maybe not these, but I just don't get the PS5 connection.

If Sony stops selling SSDS, if they even do, or the disc drives for the Pro, then yes, by all means, put PS5 in the title.

@Gryffin I've regretted my PS5 purchase at times but now after 5 years I'm sure we've gotten our money's worth. Helps that there's 4 of us, my wife plays w/ me occasionally and my 2 college aged kids.

Also very glad my wife got the Switch 2 from her job as a 10 year anniversary gift, don't think that's worth $450 either. On the plus side though the Switch was old when it released and Nintendo really needed modern hardware.

But at this point I'll never need a Switch 3 or PS6. I'm good until I'm done gaming. After 30 years it's starting to get repetitive as it is.
