@lazarus11 Well I'm a lot knackered, but I don't think that helps that all gray and white snorefest any. I appreciate that it's on every system ever made but that doesn't mean I gave to like it.
Mario 64 is considered the godfather of 3D platformers, and I give it all the credit in the world for being first, but you couldn't pay me to play it again.
@Donrenardo Forgot about Cyberpunk. I did make it through to the end of that game, driving off into the sunset after sex in the tank. I never drove b/c it was impossible and I tried to avoid all conflict b/c I was horrible at it, and I must have played it on story mode or whatever option it had. So I suppose there are exceptions. But I prefer to not have to do it again.π€·ββοΈ
@Kraven KOA was good, I think 1 of the side stories was better than the main story, but the inventory storage limitation killed it for me. Every 20 minutes I had to go sell stuff. I must have been doing something wrong because it was almost unplayable. But I did enjoy it enough to finish it despite that. π
@Duck_Farmer Thanks. Even more reason to try it out.π
@lazarus11 But what if I already thought Skyrim was crap? 2 wrongs make a right? π
@ShogunRok Thanks. Might borrow it from the library when they get a copy in to check it out. And I'll only play in 3rd person so switching it won't be a problem.π
@ShogunRok Judging from all the familiar looking screenshots and what I read in the review is this basically first person view "Kingdom of Amular: Reckoning"?
Only half joking. And I don't play FP so it's a moot point. If this has a 3rd person option like Skyrim or I'm just misjudging the pics please let me know. π
Thanks for the update. Got a few hours of your last Dreams update about Banjo, may go play this one now. Think I still have a few more levels in my list as well.
I just think graphics have gotten close enough in part b/c we haven't moved on to 8k tvs yet. So PS5 can be 4k native, or close to it, Xbox will be like 1440 native upscaled and Switch 2 will be 1080p handheld, the screen max, and upscaled a tad docked.
They could vary FPS but I'm guessing 30 for all 3. Maybe a variable or 40 where possible.
I liked the first game but it did feel like what it was, a small indie game I played on PS+. This sequel, at least so far, looks more like a full blown AAA adventure. At times during the trailer I thought we might finally be getting Beyond Good and Evil 2. π
Not sure if I'll buy it day 1 but the fact that I'm even contemplating it says a lot. Highlight of the Direct, uh I mean SoP, for me.
Second was the chicken in the game that looked like Darksiders and Heavenly Sword, that one was nuts. π
I play a bunch of couch co-op games with my wife, and my college age kids have spent basically their entire lives playing couch co-op games together. And several of those games only let you start to play co-op after a short amount of gameplay gets the story going.
So b/c the history of couch co-op video games have conditioned us this way, I'm guessing some of these people are mad b/c they started playing the game waiting to get to the part where they could start playing co-op, but it just never came.
That probably made people even more upset, playing something waiting for something that never came. Like waking up every day but it's still December 24th. No gifts for you.
As for the game still getting good reviews, that one is easy. The overwhelming majority of gamers are buying this game to play single player. Just read all the comments on this site whenever a game gets announced as requiring co-op. Gamers act like the dev should go bankrupt for such a sin.
So I'm not surprised if only very few people bought this for the co-op. But those have a valid gripe and should be refunded, it's clearly false advertising. And considering the stealth drop of the game it's not surprising. Almost like the dev was hoping for the FOMO of the game would help sales.π€·ββοΈ
Was planning on ignoring it and just continuing to watch the films instead but now I kind of feel like I should play it b/c it's 3rd person and I'm skipping Indiana Jones b/c it's first person.
I thought it was really good. I'm kinda shocked to see so much positivity though, everybody usually hates these things. Maybe the world is healing.π
And isn't Helldivers supposed to be the opposite of ST, we're the bad guys? Though I suppose we'll be the good guys in the movie. Maybe they'll put "Born in the USA" in the movie to not so subtlety get their point across.
I'm looking forward to Lobo, and Wrecking Crew was pretty good, so I'll watch this when it comes to some streaming service I have.
But once again b/c I'm an old curmugeon I feel compelled to ask, why not put local time at the TOP of the list instead of the bottom, I feel fairly confident most people are more interested in their local time than all the others combined. π
If the answer is b/c the person designing the website can't figure out how to move the line of code that calculates local time to the top of the list maybe they can ask someone else for help. Or some THING else.π€·ββοΈ
OK so a 1 hr+ SoP and no Wolverine and no Starfield. What about Intergalactic? Or are we just getting 30 minutes of Marathon and Fairgame$ alongside 30 minutes of last weeks Nintendo Partner Showcase Direct?π
I almost certainly played Fear Effect but I don't even recall there being a FE2 so not sure if I've played it or not. Maybe if I watched some videos.
Did it release in the US? I remember Shemue 2 only released in the EU of on Xbox so I didn't know that existed until they announced the gofundme for 3.
I feel like it was a missed opportunity to not make this a RWBY game but my knowledge of all this is fairly limited in scope so I could be way off there. Probably just the art style.
It all looks & sounds good to me except I have a strict aversion to the game play mechanic of lather-rinse-repeat.
I donβt play enough of these games b/c I really canβt tell what this is. I want to say itβs Monster Hunter, but it really doesnβt feel like that. I see they borrowed the storm from Fortnite but I have played enough Fortnite, recently just sorta stopped, to know this isnβt that either. Maybe if I played it then it would click, but not sure I want too. Maybe.
Does anyone know how this works? Free to play? $40 game w/ a season pass? PS+ required for online? Iβm guessing itβs not just a straight up $70 game.
My kid just finished Hollow Knight like last week. That's some bad timing right there. Too difficult for me regardless. A man's got to know his limitations.
I don't really like the 2D-HD look but the rest of this game looked good enough I might eb willing to overlook it. Another game like MHS3 that I'm surprised is coming to PS5 day 1, it looks so Switch. And by that I mean it looks like a 3DS game. Did I mention I don't like 2D-HD? π
This certainly feels like a game that could use a demo with that weird shoiting-hacking gameplay mechanic. Looks like somebody dropped the Zenless Zone Zero boards onto the Vanquish world.
Will probably try it out on both PS5 and Switch 2 just to see how well Switch 2 can keep up. It looked kinda rough in the showcase.
@ShogunRok Another link from sister site NL. They should pay you per link.π Your review sold me on Granbkue but think I'll be skipping Digimon after reading this. I've already watched my kid play FF7:REBIRTH so I don't need to come back for that one.π
@ShogunRok Thanks. Guess you can disregard my previous comment. Glad I missed it 4 years ago, may even pay the full $60 this summer and not wait, seems worth it.
@ShogunRok Found my way back here from the Granbkue Fantasy Relink Switch port news, NL posted links in the article. Never did get around to this one though I did finally play GoW:R and Spiderman 2. Baby steps,
Just so Iβm clear, a game that released in 2022 as OW2 is now going to be called simply OW and itβs having itβs βSeason 1β, one, now after all these years?
I think Iβm glad I never started playing OW. The original OW, not OW 2 renamed as OW. π
Didn't some FF head honcho already confirm this about a month ago when talking about a simultaneous release of part 3 on Switch 2? I'll go find a link BRB...
Edit: So while I couldn't find a definitive confirmation of a simultaneous release I did find this quote from way back in October of last year, which I read as implying it.
"But obviously, before then, people who haven't played Final Fantasy VII Remake yet, this is such a good opportunity to do so now that it's coming out on the Switch 2. The whole series is coming to the Switch 2, so if you want to play it, have a go with the first one, you won't regret it, and then we can all play the third game together and it enjoy it together in real time."
Well maybe when you finish galavanting you'll have time.π
You know if Sony does make some sort of Portal PS6 hybrid and they keep getting all of these mobile Gatcha (that's how my phone spell checks gacha and I don't know how to undo it) games they could give Switch 2 a run for it's money in Asia as Nintendo seems allergic to Hoyoverse and the like. Then maybe you'll be able to retire here after all. Place wouldn't be the same w/o you anyway. π
Wow you guys covered Speedstorm? That's a surprise.
Lightning will almost certainly be paid and we'll get some racer no one has heard of too unlock. Though I'd be happy with the old guy b/c I'm an old guy.
What's probably going to be more interesting for players is the track, Rafiator Springs looks pretty good.
Not a fan of the look or really most of the other stuff so thankfully a pass for me as I wait for 7 Deadly Sins which kind of looks like Breath of the Windwaker.
Did MKW sell 10 million copies are does that include those bundled w/ the consol? I know it was an extra $50 but still.
If Sega expected Sonic to do Mario numbers they're delerious.
Selling a $60 game w/ a $30 season pass should hurt game sales just on principle. They'll sell the complete game for the price of the dlc in a year.
I'm still playing Disney Speedstorm for free. It looks and controls much better than Sonic on PS5. I can't recommend it now though, too pay to play, basically a trial or demo, but since I started free from the beginning it's all I need. I own MKW and don't even play it, which makes me sad after waiting a decade after 8 on Wii U. (We never double dipped on Switch)
@ShogunRok Thanks for the review, was waiting on this one. I think you talked me out of playing it though as I was on the fence anyway. Time travel, backtracking, different stories, all just not my thing.
Maybe we'll hear about DQ12 this year. π€·ββοΈ
You ever brainstorm w/ Ant about making a mobile free to play Gatcha game website similar to Damo's pet Time Extension? Not to question your Sony loyalty but I think the writing is on the wall for consoles and Gatcha games seem to be getting bigger all the time. (Not to be confused w/ failing all the time multi-player games.) I mean you still seem to be there, and nobody here knows this stuff better than you. 20 years is a pretty good run. You're still young, got your future to think of. And I think the future is mobile, sad to say.
@get2sammyb You may have talked me into 7 Deadly Sins when it releases, seems better than starting Genshin now. No Infinity Nikki seems weird but I think it does show you don't need a million characters to sell items. Unless the game is dying then never mind. π€
I'm currently rewatching subtitled Mobile Fighter G Gundam, only had seen the dubbed before now, and it's probably as bad as people say but I still like it a lot. I suppose Rain 98 is a different Rain though.π
@BearsEatBeets I'm assuming it's like 80% game 1 w/ 20% new material back story for Thor, his wife, their daughter, Odin, and self-righteous her face guy. Mostly talking about how Kratos killed their 2 sons and how he's coming for the rest of them to fulfill the prophecy. Can't make a TV show about Ragnarok w/o a lot of prophecy talk.
"Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes."
They were probably unaffected b/c the people in charge of making all of these decisions probably weren't aware this game and this team were still an ongoing thing.
@Aventurier You're welcome. I only play co-op w/ my wife and kids at home, not online, so I always come into these articles excited then leave disappointed. Last year was particularly bad as I wanted to play Funko Pop w/ my wife but somehow that game has no couch co-op even though it looks like most games that do. And I was hoping Mario & Luigi Brothership would have it, but no. And Lego Horizon reviewed as 1 of the worst Lego games, so it didn't seem worth the money. We'll play it someday.
@ATaco I think half of the 15 games in the article don't have couch co-op either so I don't feel all that bad about it. I mean I'm pretty sure neither of those Star Wars games have co-op of any kind, which, to you're point, is why AI sucks, but it got the point across well enough I think. Or maybe not.
@BearsEatBeets I noticed that as well, getting actors for characters who weren't even in the first game, which makes me happy, b/c it should be better this way, and flow better as 1 long running TV show than as 2 sepeeate games. I think Last of Us should have done the same, I suspect people won't be happy with only Abbey in season 3. If it ever comes out. Going to go check now if they started filming it yet.
The dislike Thor has for Odin, and and that gatekeeper jerk, could use some back story screen time.
@Quintumply Did this really need to be 3 pages? You really couldnt get it to function on 1? (feel free to throw Ant or grandpa under the bus for that one π)
As someone who is always looking for co-op games to play w/ my wife, and by co-op I mean the traditional meaning of 2 people playing on 1 screen on 1 couch, this list kinda sucks. I mean sure its technically co-op but besides It Takes Two Iβm really not feeling it.
But donβt worry, Iβm not here just to be critical, Iβm here to help. For those looking to pay to rent games in a service o play w/ others the PS5 also has access to EA (um something) for $5.99 per month. We currently have it, paid for my kid to pay Jedi Surivior, and y wife and I will be playing Unraveled Two and possibly The Way Out or whatever that prison break game is called.
You know, since we;re talking about paying to rent coop games on the PS5 might as well list them all. I believe It Takes Two is also on there for those who donβt have PS+.
Edit: AI summary of games:
Other top EA Play co-op titles on PS5 include:
Unravel Two β A charming, physics-based platformer where two yarn creatures navigate imaginative environments.
A Way Out β A narrative-driven co-op adventure with a cinematic story, best experienced with a friend.
FIFA 23 β The final installment in the FIFA series, featuring easy couch co-op and online multiplayer for soccer fans.
The Sims 4 β A life simulation game with deep customization, supporting local co-op for up to four players.
Need for Speed Heat β A high-octane racing game with day/night cycles and police chases, playable in split-screen.
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 β A fun, fast-paced team-based FPS with unique characters and cooperative objectives.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order β A single-player action-adventure game, but its companion title Jedi: Survivor is also available on EA Play and offers similar co-op-like pacing in a shared universe.
Pretty cool. Don't know why the loud music rather than talking it up but I guess that's how videos are made these days.
Switch 2 is basically PS4 power in a smaller box so Sony could do it if they wanted too. Getting a PS5 in a handheld is going to take some doing though.
I still wish Nintendo would do the opposite and make a Switch 2 w/o the screen, battery, dock or magnetic rails. Has to be a decent $ savings for a brick w/ tv out for old folk who just want to game on their tvs. Maybe enough to make it worth while. Switch Lite didn't switch or have TV out, they sold that.

What's probably going to be more interesting for players is the track, Rafiator Springs looks pretty good.
Re: Arknights: Endfield (PS5) - Automation Turns Busywork into Bliss
Not a fan of the look or really most of the other stuff so thankfully a pass for me as I wait for 7 Deadly Sins which kind of looks like Breath of the Windwaker.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Initial Sales Didn't Meet SEGA's Expectations
Re: Dragon Quest VII Reimagined (PS5) - A Tip-Top Remake of a Once Tedious RPG
@ShogunRok Thanks for the review, was waiting on this one. I think you talked me out of playing it though as I was on the fence anyway. Time travel, backtracking, different stories, all just not my thing.
Maybe we'll hear about DQ12 this year. π€·ββοΈ
Re: 6 PS5 Games That Cut Through the Noise at Taipei Game Show
@get2sammyb "boyfriend game Love & Deepspace"
That's a lot to take in. π
As always thanks for the feedback. π
Re: 6 PS5 Games That Cut Through the Noise at Taipei Game Show
@get2sammyb You may have talked me into 7 Deadly Sins when it releases, seems better than starting Genshin now.
Re: The Last of Us TV Show Might Be Over After Season 3
I'm half surprised we're still getting season 3. How far along in development is it now?
Edit: Well it looks like it is happening in a few months. Not sure I care anymore but who knows where my brain will be by 2027.
Re: God of War TV Show Recruits Its Thor and Odin Actors
@BearsEatBeets I'm assuming it's like 80% game 1 w/ 20% new material back story for Thor, his wife, their daughter, Odin, and self-righteous her face guy. Mostly talking about how Kratos killed their 2 sons and how he's coming for the rest of them to fulfill the prophecy. Can't make a TV show about Ragnarok w/o a lot of prophecy talk.

@ATaco "I just don't like how confidently incorrect AI can be."
It's like they're modeling AI on old cishet white men. π
I'm 1 of those so I get to make that joke.π€ͺ
Re: Highguard (PS5) - Jack of All Trades PS5 Shooter Is Fine
The review reminded me of Ratchet and Clank Full Frontal Assault (Q Force) and I don't recall anyone being overly enthusiastic about that one either.
Definitely seems like a game that should be played by teams of friends, not Randoms, so maybe it will take off in South Korea or something.
Re: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Director Passes Comment on Ubisoft's Major Reshuffle
"Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes."
They were probably unaffected b/c the people in charge of making all of these decisions probably weren't aware this game and this team were still an ongoing thing.
That's the only explanation really.π
Re: Best Co-Op Games on PS Plus
Re: God of War TV Show Recruits Its Thor and Odin Actors
@BearsEatBeets I noticed that as well, getting actors for characters who weren't even in the first game, which makes me happy, b/c it should be better this way, and flow better as 1 long running TV show than as 2 sepeeate games. I think Last of Us should have done the same, I suspect people won't be happy with only Abbey in season 3. If it ever comes out. Going to go check now if they started filming it yet.
The dislike Thor has for Odin, and and that gatekeeper jerk, could use some back story screen time.
Re: Best Co-Op Games on PS Plus
Re: Random: Someone Made Their Very Own Portable PS4 Handheld Console
