The 3D platformer era on the PS2 was the best. I mean it was so good that Sony made a PS Move game featuring the big 3 stars, and the game didn't even have a jump button, that's how big of stars they were. That 2013 game felt meh. Nothing wrong with it, just unnecessary. Like, I didn't need it, I could just play the original trilogy.
I would very much take another Infamous game, or a 3D platformer that wasn't Sly, just like Sly, but I don't need another Sly.
Looking forward to this but now that it's getting close I'm kinda worried how it's going to turn out. Wolverine has always been 1 of my favorite Marvel characters since I bought his first appearance in the Hulk comic - I was a big Hulk fan back then - and the recent movies have been great,from the dark and dour Logan to Deadpool and Wolverine. But I've never been a big fan of the Batman Arkham games and I have a feeling that's their model.
Do we even know if this is 3rd person? Indy was first person. If this is 1st person after all these years I may actually cry. I could learn to like Arkham but FP is a non-starter.
Are people really clamoring for a PS6? Has the PS5 been out that long and reached that many hurdles it can't overcome?
I'm not saying I wouldn't want a new console some day, I just got a Switch 2 recently, but the Switch was practically old when it launched 8 years ago, it was a handheld masquerading as a home console, the next DS pretending it was the next Wii, but the PS5 is fine. Anything that isn't fine probably has more to do with software coding than hardware.
Until we all have 8k tvs the only reason for a PS6 is forced obsolescence. I'm still not 100% convinced the PS4 is too ancient for what we need, much less the PS5.
Filming in 6 months but not having your literally larger than life star picked out seems a great way to go.ð

Wow. Haven't thought about thus one in awhile. I had a phase where I was playing all of these games I could find. I think my favorite was "Puzzle Hero" but so many of them had similar names.
They are very much point and click games though, not made for controllers. Maybe if it comes to Switch 2 for like $10 I'll finally give mouse mode a try.

It is in part just me, I'm aging out, but both my college age kids are gaming much less on consoles as well, mostly on their laptops, not phones. And it mostly feels negative on here and NL. Between the failed GaaS, cost of the hobby, AI taking jobs, mass firings, years between releases, review bombing, it's not exactly sunshine and rainbows. E3 out and 24/7 Geoff Keighley I think pretty much sums it up for me.
I'm happy for you, and all the long suffering Silksong fans, and the other happy gamers, but I think in general the honeymoon is over, we need therapy to keep the marriage going now. Worth saving for sure, but it's not Christmas morning anymore. More like hungover NY Day.ð

If Sony is going to do this they need to announce in $ terms how much the 1TB was going to cost them vs the 825GB and tell us how much they were going to raise the price if they kept the larger size.
Sony buys these pieces in bulk by the literal millions, and I can't imagine any reason why a manufacturer would prefer to keep making a smaller size rather than a larger one, certainly not at that minimal of a difference. So if Sony says something stupid like - if we didn't use a smaller size it was going to cost us an extra $3 per until, and we were then going to have to charge an extra $50 per PS5 to make that $3 back, b/c we only raise or lower prices in $50 increments - then they San all rake a long walk off a short peer.
Thus is probably all BS anyway and PS just has us wasting our time w/ this rumour.
The only way I could imagine this being real, since they mentioned the digital edition, is if Sony has a small paperback book size PS5,,like the PS3 Super Slim, which can't be upgraded like the current slim, so they're going w/ that size b/c it's going to be cheaper, lighter, smaller etc. so maybe the 825GB makes sense to set it apart. It's not a Sony thing, it's a gaming inflation thing. Switch 2 is $450, years old Kirby 3D game is $80, Nintendo also charges for online. Xboxen aren't free and while everyone complains about Gamepass killing gaming v/c it's giving games away for free Gamepass us in fact not free and you need to pay for it every single month to pkay those games.
So sure, Sony things cost money, but I don't see Sony as any worse than Nintendo or MS. They aren't Apple.ðĪ

I'm hoping it starts off in a large main area like Florawish and then instead of these little pieces every 6 weeks we get a larger section like the Piecys and fairies areas, keep the main story going, and no weird stuff. @RoomWithaMoose Well you don't have to get back to me on Sonic, it really does look like Mario Kart Wii, I don't think it even looks as good as MK8. Maybe the Switch 2 doesn't like playing Switch games on my 4k TV but it really doesn't look great. Reminds me of Skylanders Superchargerers on Wii. We had 2 versions of the game, my kids were little, and the Wii version did not look great compared to the PS3 version.
That's how I feel about Sonic on the Switch 2 vs the PS5. The PS5 isn't even really all that great. I mean it looks fine, but I was expecting more.
Maybe I should go back and play MKW again, maybe I was being too harsh. Need the Switch 2 version to compare to MKW but after the PS5 version I think Mario will hold his own.
I have my PC hooked up to my TV w/ an HDMI to HDMI cable. My kid uses a USB-C to HDMI cable on his laptop to my TV. I play Apple Arcade games on my TV wireless. Why do we need a dock? OK sure maybe wireless would have too much lag but USB-C is very versatile and 10' cables are cheap.ð

Oh sure, SD becomes HD and HD becomes 4k but there's no great generational leap, and that was 4 console generations ago - Wii, Wii U, Switch, Switch 2. MKW isn't even a dual release, it's "next gen" only. Have you played MKW yet? Compare it to free to start Disney Speedstorm or Sonic this weekend. Mario has no there to it. I never feel like I can touch a car, shake hands with a driver or walk the land, it's just flat colors on a screen. It's not screaming "next gen" to me. And it's 4 gens removed.ðĪ·ââïļ
As much as it's been monetized up the wazoo I played Dusney Speedstorm again today, ahead of the new Alice in Wonderland track tomorrow, and I really do enjoy the solo racing so much more than Mario Kart World. Reading here that A is the gas gas me bummed, the Speedstorm controls jyst feel so right, R gas, L brake/drift, then jump and item face buttons. And it looks really good on the PS5. MKW still looks like MK Wii for the most part.
I'll be playing this over the weekend to see how it feels, but in my head I'll be comparing it to Speedstorm, not Mario Kart, I'm afraid that ship has sailed. ðĒ

Not a fan of farming or house building and those Minecraft like controls make me really not want to do it, but 1.9 puts us 1 step closer to 2.0 which I'm assuming will be a new story region, and I am so ready to live on. 1.8 has been really good though, just finished it last night. Well except for that 5 in a row minigame, I got stuck on board 4, and it just takes too long.

I usually don't bother w/ the 5 star 1 piece per 10 pull banners, too annoying, I used my resonance to get the frosty sword outfit last night. I owned an Xbox 1 for about 6 months in 2017 and played this, and it was OK. Then I played 2 and 3 and realized this really was just a setup game for the other 2. Much like I'd never play Uncharted again, thought it was trash, unless I was playing the rest right after b/c U2 is my favorite interactive movie, I wouldn't play GoW w/o having 2 and 3 ready to go. A complete trilogy bundle or $70, the current going market rate, would be OK, but $40 just for 1 seems a tad much.
@RobN OK so I suppose if you want to be technical, they are attempting to keep it going for 96 straight hours. There are no guarantees, I was just looking for their baseline. I guess I'm just used to these things just being an hour or so here and there. Thanks.

I'm OK w/ updates when they are necessary to fix bugs that pop up unexpectedly when a million people play a game in ways the dev didn't forsee, but if it's a Day 1 patch, before people start playing it and breaking it, then I'm sorry but the game was never gold. A year or so later when the GotY or Deluxe or Directors Cut edition releases, then, and only them, is it gold. Gold means done, not begun to play test it. ð

This is just part 1 right, not all 3 games in the trilogy that make up the whole story? Should definitely be able to fit that on a disc, I don't care how much they've remastered or remade it. I could see the trilogy maybe getting a little big to fit on a disc.

It's not a Sony thing, it's a gaming inflation thing. Switch 2 is $450, years old Kirby 3D game is $80, Nintendo also charges for online. Xboxen aren't free and while everyone complains about Gamepass killing gaming v/c it's giving games away for free Gamepass us in fact not free and you need to pay for it every single month to pkay those games.
So sure, Sony things cost money, but I don't see Sony as any worse than Nintendo or MS. They aren't Apple.ðĪ

@SuntannedDuck2 Well if it's improved enough then we shouldn't need a dock, just wireless. Maybe a dongle or brick, but wireless should be the way to go in 2027 or 2028.
Not talking about dual screen, that's an entirely different software issue, but mirrored.
But if lag really is still an issue in 2027 then OK, bundle a 10' usb-c to HDMI wire in the box.

I'm hoping it starts off in a large main area like Florawish and then instead of these little pieces every 6 weeks we get a larger section like the Piecys and fairies areas, keep the main story going, and no weird stuff. This past inkveil area was really good, as was fireworks aisle, but the others were lacking.

@RoomWithaMoose Well you don't have to get back to me on Sonic, it really does look like Mario Kart Wii, I don't think it even looks as good as MK8. Maybe the Switch 2 doesn't like playing Switch games on my 4k TV but it really doesn't look great. Reminds me of Skylanders Superchargerers on Wii. We had 2 versions of the game, my kids were little, and the Wii version did not look great compared to the PS3 version.
That's how I feel about Sonic on the Switch 2 vs the PS5. The PS5 isn't even really all that great. I mean it looks fine, but I was expecting more.
Maybe I should go back and play MKW again, maybe I was being too harsh. Need the Switch 2 version to compare to MKW but after the PS5 version I think Mario will hold his own.

WHY IS THERE A DOCK!?!?
I have my PC hooked up to my TV w/ an HDMI to HDMI cable. My kid uses a USB-C to HDMI cable on his laptop to my TV. I play Apple Arcade games on my TV wireless. Why do we need a dock? OK sure maybe wireless would have too much lag but USB-C is very versatile and 10' cables are cheap.ð

@RoomWithaMoose No, it looks pretty much just like this. Oh sure, SD becomes HD and HD becomes 4k but there's no great generational leap, and that was 4 console generations ago - Wii, Wii U, Switch, Switch 2. MKW isn't even a dual release, it's "next gen" only. Have you played MKW yet? Compare it to free to start Disney Speedstorm or Sonic this weekend. Mario has no there to it. I never feel like I can touch a car, shake hands with a driver or walk the land, it's just flat colors on a screen. It's not screaming "next gen" to me. And it's 4 gens removed.ðĪ·ââïļ

As much as it's been monetized up the wazoo I played Dusney Speedstorm again today, ahead of the new Alice in Wonderland track tomorrow, and I really do enjoy the solo racing so much more than Mario Kart World. Reading here that A is the gas gas me bummed, the Speedstorm controls jyst feel so right, R gas, L brake/drift, then jump and item face buttons. And it looks really good on the PS5. MKW still looks like MK Wii for the most part.
I'll be playing this over the weekend to see how it feels, but in my head I'll be comparing it to Speedstorm, not Mario Kart, I'm afraid that ship has sailed. ðĒ

Not a fan of farming or house building and those Minecraft like controls make me really not want to do it, but 1.9 puts us 1 step closer to 2.0 which I'm assuming will be a new story region, and I am so ready to live on. 1.8 has been really good though, just finished it last night. Well except for that 5 in a row minigame, I got stuck on board 4, and it just takes too long.
That picture on top w/ Nikki wearing what looks like the dragon outfit has me rethinking spending my 50,000 diamonds to try and get it. I usually don't bother w/ the 5 star 1 piece per 10 pull banners, too annoying, I used my resonance to get the frosty sword outfit last night. Much better odds, just used my 24 temporary pulls.ð But if we can dragon ride up there it might be worth it. Hmmm...
@katamariUK Back in March they said they were adding an option to invert X, Y cameras but it looks like they actually still haven't done it yet.

I owned an Xbox 1 for about 6 months in 2017 and played this, and it was OK. Then I played 2 and 3 and realized this really was just a setup game for the other 2. Much like I'd never play Uncharted again, thought it was trash, unless I was playing the rest right after b/c U2 is my favorite interactive movie, I wouldn't play GoW w/o having 2 and 3 ready to go. A complete trilogy bundle or $70, the current going market rate, would be OK, but $40 just for 1 seems a tad much.

I'm OK w/ updates when they are necessary to fix bugs that pop up unexpectedly when a million people play a game in ways the dev didn't forsee, but if it's a Day 1 patch, before people start playing it and breaking it, then I'm sorry but the game was never gold. A year or so later when the GotY or Deluxe or Directors Cut edition releases, then, and only them, is it gold. Gold means done, not begun to play test it. ð

Thanks for adding the "Your Local Time" to the bottom of the lists. Personally I would have put it on top b/c most people are probably going to stop reading time zones after finding out what time it is in theirs but I appreciate you need to meet some metric quota for time spent people reading a page so fair game. Now that I know it's at the bottom of the lists I can skip on down.ð
Not being on Switch 2 is kinda a bummer but this isn't the place to talk about that any further.
So is this 96 straight hours of gameplay? It's not 1 of those an hour here an hour there but most of them while I'm sleeping? That's pretty nice of them.
Oh and for those of you who don't know this is the end of summer holiday weekend in the US, Monday is Labor day, then the kids are back at school. So it's a nice time for them to have this run through Monday night.ð

This is just part 1 right, not all 3 games in the trilogy that make up the whole story? Should definitely be able to fit that on a disc, I don't care how much they've remastered or remade it. I could see the trilogy maybe getting a little big to fit on a disc.
Good on them for doing it though. Not too flustered about the online multi-player needing online to download it.

I'd prefer it as a 3D story driven game but I could see it being difficult to get to work. There are enough fighting good guys and bad guys to do just about anything with though. ðĪ·ââïļ
@Scottyy My family watched the 2nd anime a few years back and my wife and I watched the live action movie trilogy recently. Never watched the original, my kids told me not to bother.
