Beyond Good & Evil 2 Director Passes Comment on Ubisoft's Major Reshuffle 1

One of the first huge news stories of 2026 was Ubisoft's company-wide restructure, which saw it spread its various studios across specific sub-divisions, as well as cancel or delay numerous projects.

To the surprise of many, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was not among the games affected. It was expected that it might be canned or put on ice given its protracted development, but that is not the case, and work on the elusive game continues.

The project's creative director, Fawzi Mesmar, has now made a statement about Ubisoft's situation over on LinkedIn.

"Thank you for everyone who has reached out to me over the past few days in regards to recent news at Ubisoft.

Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes. I would direct you to the official press release for more information around the latest organisational structure.

Needless to say, I am saddened by the cancellations that has affected my colleagues in other parts of Ubisoft and the industry. I urge everyone - myself included - to offer support whenever and however they can during these times.

We remain committed and focused on delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy."

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is approaching 20 years since it was first announced, an unusually long time for game production. It's been through many difficulties within that time, but it seems Ubisoft is determined to keep it moving.

Mesmar has been heading up the game since October 2024, so hopefully he's been able to get things more under control and heading in the right direction.
