Alot of people forget that Sony had already emulated the PS1 on every PS3. But then they stopped that on PS4, so they could monetize old games. After making boatloads of money in recent years, some people hoped Sony would go back to emulation for PS1 & PS2. But we knew months ago that Sony had walked away from BC, the PS5 doesn't even have a CD laser...

No free PS5 upgrade and now the physical is delayed?

Seems like a shameless straight-up digital cash grab...

Mind you, I'm not saying the PS5 port is bad, just super tacky.

I'm so glad Sony will support the PS4 for another year.

It will take at least that long to catch-up on PS5 supply.

Not everyone wants to buy a PS5 off eBay for a small fortune.

Sony has some exclusives & some multi-plats, that's fair for everyone.

It's a huge upgrade. This would probably be my 1st purchase. But I'm not in a big rush, I'll see where things are at next year.

But I already have a PS4 and many of those games on disc. But for someone with a Switch, this is an amazing deal for buying into the Sony ecosystem.

I picked up a copy at Walmart for $33. No one else had it.

The physical print run on this game may be low?

Anyway, I'm glad it's being fixed and there is new DLC on the way.

Just buy a ghetto PC with a basic video card & DVD drive.

PS1 and PS2 will play off discs in any decent emulator.

It's super easy and completely legal.

I don't seem a problem with having some PS4 games next year. If Sony just dropped PS4 the minute they showed PS5, many people would take it wrong. The fact that Sony will have a few last-gen leftovers, shows that they care about their customers (who are mostly PS4 owners right now).

Someone told me the DLC was a MS timed exclusive and was going on GamePass. Glad to see that's not true.

This whole episode will be taught in business schools under how not to treat your customers and how to avoid self-made PR disasters.

This is up there with the whole No Man's Sky debacle.

The biggest issue is the price. It needs to be $14.99 or less.

On Switch, it's $25 (I think) and hasn't gone on sale.

The free games haven't been doing anything for me (especially since they removed PS3/Vita and failed to add VR games instead), so they can drop the new games and then lower the price. I'd be completely cool with that.

I just saying that by the time they give away a big Triple AAA game on Plus, I already own the game on disc. So these big games are useless to many players.

Not sure if it makes sense to spend 4 Billion just for exclusivity.

That kind of money would be more of a turnkey buy like Minecraft.

Minecraft is still on every platform because they need to make money off it.

I buy Triple AAA games on disc. Big games are useless to me.

Plus used to net you six games a month on PS3/Vita/PS4.

I miss those days, lots of smaller overlooked games.

Back in the day, I had the DC version which came out a year earlier.

EDIT: Racers Revenge is actually a sequel, I totally forgot that.

I gave up on BC and bought a mid-spec PC for $400.

i5 3.6Ghz 16GB ram, Geforce 1030, SSD drive w/Win10.

Works like a charm for PS1, PS2, DC, PSP, and all things Nintendo...

I have all the original hardware & large software collection, but this is nice.

PS1 and PS2 can be played off the disc at HD or better.

The Cloud theme looks amazing...very moody.

If game languished and didn't have great graphics...

They should have just ported it to Switch.

Sony seems to be going backwards on BC...

PS3 supported virtually all PS1 games though emulation.

Then they stopped that support inexplicably on PS4 (due to greed?).

PS5 could easily emulate PS1 & PS2, which would be amazing.

If Sony won't do that, I'd rather spend the $500 on a Home Theater PC.

That way I can emulate my retro game collection and play off discs.

If MS still launches and Sony doesn't, it's going to look bad.

Cardboard scratches optical discs & used copies would be trash.

I would prefer the normal plastic cases for maximum durability.

Looks like there's no 'sale' groups in the PS3 store anymore.

You have to look at web lists and search for specific games.

There's some really cheap deals in the PS3 store...

Might get an old Breath of Fire PS1 game for $2.

Or the old Doom games on PS4 for not much more.

There's no reason this couldn't have been on PS4 as well (in theory).
