Re: Talking Point: Did Sony Lie About PS5?

GamerDad66

Sony can't drop everything on PS5.

That would only feed the scalpers...

You can't even buy a PS5 in stores and there's no end in sight.

They had to adapt their plan to the reality of the current situation.

Sony has more competition now, they can't just leave their player base behind.

Re: NieR Replicant (PS4) - The Rebirth of a Touching Action RPG, Still Unique After All These Years

GamerDad66

I wish this game allowed you to play the Western or Eastern version.

It would have been a simple matter to make a new model for Father Neir and use his dialogue from the old game if necessary.

Not that I'm not interested in the brother character, but there were small dialogue changes and having both characters included would have been preferable and more complete.

Re: Next-Gen Showcase Godfall Seems Poised for PS4

GamerDad66

I'm always fine with PS4 versions...

As long as you get a free PS5 upgrade.

Then you're just getting two-in-one with future proofing.

It's just good marketing due to massive PS4 install base and good customer service to make the buy-in uncomplicated.

Re: Sony Backtracks PS3, PS Vita Online Store Closures

GamerDad66

Actually, there's probably a fair amount of people waiting for a number of reasons. The DLC bundle for Drakengard 3 is $29. But if the game got remastered for PS4 like Nier, then they would just wait for that. Same for Lords of Shadow or LoS2. Buying these games and all DLC would probably cost more than the cost of a remaster. But with the PS4 gen coming to an end, we now have more clarity on which games are being left behind and if the PS3 store closes then they would be gone for good. So this is a huge issue for people who care about games and owning games and the preservation of games.

I'm genuinely relieved, but Sony isn't done making horrible decisions. I'm afraid we're going to have fight Jim Ryan every step of the way from here on out. All Sony cares about now is money and huge Metacritic tent-pole titles. But maybe, just maybe, they can still learn some humility, support their players, and get back to making good games of all sizes.

Re: Days Gone Director on Skipped Sequel: 'If You Love a Game, Buy It at F***ing Full Price'

GamerDad66

I get what he's saying to some extent, Sony needs to have the artistic forsight to assess the value and impact of a new IP within the first year or so (not just launch window). These are complicated calculations, the value of a vibrant new IP is incalculable. Just ask Nintendo if they'd like a new IP. Sony made a mistake downsizing Japan Studio and canceling the Days Gone franchise.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Adds External Storage Support for PS5 Games, Social Features, and More Tomorrow

GamerDad66

In a weird way, Sony has pushed the PS5 completely off my radar. I'm now completely preoccupied with all the PS1/PS2/PS3+DLC/VITA digital games that I need to buy before Sony closes the store. For me, it only makes sense to focus my time and money on the games that will soon be lost. The PS5 will be cheaper and better in the years to come anyway. Nice work Jim Ryan.

Re: PS Plus Oversight Is a Bummer for PS3, PS Vita Owners

GamerDad66

With regards to the store closures, there's an amazing flurry of YouTube videos on great digital games for PS3/VITA/PSP. There's dozens of games and DLC that I'd like to and probably will get. I'd like to think Sony would run a sale or reverse their decision to close, but Sony is too big now to care what pesky customers want.

Re: Many PS Vita Devs Cancel Projects After Sudden PS Store Closure

GamerDad66

This is a new level of recklessness even for Sony. They practically killed PSVR when they suddenly announced that no PS5 games were allowed to support their own peripheral. Between the lack of BC and lack of support for smaller Devs, Sony is practically waving customers over to MS & Nintendo. Sony needs new management, before it's too late.

Re: Poll: Which Bethesda Franchise Will PS5 Miss the Most?

GamerDad66

I doubt I'll miss any game developed to be free Day One on GamePass. Thing about the 1st party games that MS dumped on GamePass, none of them were of any consequence to the Industry. Sony and Nintendo 1st party games are made to be AAA because they need to command actual sales, not to be simply given away. I highly doubt that any game developed for release on GamePass will be anything more than a work-in-progress from worn-out franchises that had very limited sales potential anyway. I feel sorry for Bethesda developers who are now realizing that their company will lose 90% of their software sales and will never even cover their development costs due to all their new games being given away for free on PC and Xbox.

Re: Bethesda Says 'Some' Future Games Won't Launch on PS5, PS4

GamerDad66

These things have a way of backfiring on Microsoft...

By the time Xbox gets a real exclusive, PS5 will be too far ahead.

Bethesda will have to give away all their games on GamePass for zero profit.

Then they'll be forced to sell on other platforms just to recoup development cost.

In the end, Elder Scrolls will be free on GamePass and $70 on Sony. Small win only.
