Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

GamerDad66

I trust Sony. I trust them to be focused like a laser on the next $70 GoW/Horizon/Uncharted/Ratchet/LastofUs game. And since subscription services are now a thing, I trust them to Hoover up $60/80/120 per year too (much more, if you pay as you go). But we'll never get actual BC from Sony again, all they care about now is the money. MS is the only one that allows BC with old discs and the games are enhanced too.

Re: PS3 Emulation Allegedly in Production for PS5

GamerDad66

I really doubt all these PS3 rumors, Sony bought an entire streaming platform/ architecture to create PS Now. They haven't even recouped that investment yet, due to sluggish customer engagement with Now. The whole point of Spartacus was to relaunch Now and hopefully recoup their investment. PS3 emulation may come eventually, but Sony will never allow us to play our old discs in a newer system. They will never allow BC again due to Jim Ryan's overwhelming greed.

Re: New PS Plus Memberships: All Three Tiers Explained

GamerDad66

Jim Ryan said he doesn't understand why people want to play older games. But now apparently older games get dropped into the ultra-high $120 tier? And we still can't play older games we already own just with the disc like Xbox. Sony and Nintendo charge too much for Retro. I'll stick with basic Plus.

Re: Elden Ring Patch 1.03 Out Now, Get All the Patch Notes Here

GamerDad66

Most of these changes involve items and skills which were generally OP broken. Other neglected items and abilities are getting buffed. Seems like the focus is mostly on magic and caster items. I'd like to eventually see a shared tab on the chest that lets you pass down items to a new character. I kinda hate the idea of having to re-farm certain items that took forever to drop (brass shield).

Re: Best The Simpsons Games

GamerDad66

Maybe they're worried about re-releasing Road Rage and Hit & Run due to possible lawsuits over design plagiarism. The existing settlement might not cover newer systems/ports.

Re: Elden Ring Easy Mode Isn't Happening on PS5, PS4

GamerDad66

YouTube is loaded with exploits due to the open world aspect of the game. You can even camp behind an ancient dragon and chip away at it with no risk for 100K souls. You don't have to fight any bosses till you're ready. So, no, the game doesn't need an easy mode.

Re: Poll: How Far Into Elden Ring Are You?

GamerDad66

I'm avoiding all fog gates for now. Just running around Limgrave collecting all the materials you need to level up, boost healing, chalice buffs, and playing with spirit companions. It looks like you can take as long as you want, to get as strong as you want. Riding around and exploring is seriously fun in itself. Creeping around in stealth mode is very intense and I love backstabbing monsters. Day/Night cycle is fascinating, there's lots of strange events to observe. This might be the first Souls game I actually finish...

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

GamerDad66

I don't have a dog in this fight, because I haven't upgraded. But it's kind of disappointing that the PS5 seems like PS4 Super Pro. You still have to chose between Performance and Quality, but the image quality and FPS are higher overall. Usually we're not talking about the need for compromises a full year after Next-Gen. I wonder if we'll eventually get a PS5 Pro that can slam 4K 60 all day...

Re: Nintendo Switch Has Now Outsold PS1, Targeting PS4 Next

GamerDad66

Regardless of what Nintendo says about the 'middle', the Switch is mostly played out. There's no way they're selling another 50 million. Nintendo said it will make fewer systems this year and they must introduce newer hardware soon. Nintendo always lies about new hardware, so they don't get stuck with outdated inventory.

Re: Sony Is Not Making More PS4s to Make Up for PS5 Stock Shortfall

GamerDad66

I read that Sony is only ordering the cheapest slim PS4 for manufacturer.

My guess is they stopped making the Pro unit when PS5 production began.

I'm glad I already had a Pro, so I don't have to rush into these expensive new systems.

Since COVID, used console system prices have skyrocketed (3DS, WiiU, XBO, PS3, Pro).

People are realizing that the old stuff is not being made and the new stuff can't be found.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

GamerDad66

Wow, I was expecting Push Square to be more optimistic.

This article reads like an obituary for Sony...I don't agree completely.

COD is ripe for challenge and replacement. Activision is bloated and stale.

When MS bought Rare, they immediately when into lazy sleep mode.

Nintendo could care less, because now they can sell more of their own games.

If Activision is leaving PS, other companies should jump in to fill the viod.

Re: Will Call of Duty and Other Activision Blizzard Games Come to PS5, PS4?

GamerDad66

Welcome to the new Cold War.

I'm glad I didn't buy any of these new systems or trade anything older in.

I want to own my games not rent them from a corporate overlord via subscription.

If we don't like what's going on, we need to stop buying any of these new systems.

These buyouts are being used to herds us like cattle, who won't own anything.

Re: Nothing to Announce on PSVR2 Backwards Compatibility, Says Sony

GamerDad66

Jim Ryan crunched the numbers and realized he doesn't need the original PSVR owners. Releasing an expensive new add-on device with no built-in game library makes far more sense. However, Ryan's no mere fool. He will quickly move to capitalize on interest in old VR games with limited edition NFTs for the hundreds of games that won't work. Each of the highly collectible numbered NFTs will consist of a simple empty static screen. Stay tuned!
