Re: Talking Point: Is Free-to-Play the Future for Sports Games?

MaccaMUFC

I agree it should be F2P and just update the game annually with new squads, kits etc. Even with minor graphic/physics upgrades too to keep it fresh. EA will never go this route with FIFA though as they absolutely rake it in every year, would be to much money to lose from EA’s point of view.

Re: FIFA 22 PS4 to PS5 Upgrade Locked Behind £90 Ultimate Edition

MaccaMUFC

@ShogunRok You do realise there is a £69.99 option for the PS5 version? If someone currently has a PS4 but is wanting a PS5 version eventually and they can’t wait to play FIFA 22 before getting a PS5 then yeah they will have to pay £89.99 to play both cross-gen versions. This is nothing new, other games are doing it.

Re: Sony Fans Bicker Over Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Paywall

MaccaMUFC

@Salt_AU It isn’t sustainable for Sony and Nintendo but it clearly is for Microsoft as they are invested in Game Pass for the long haul, it’s been over 4 years since Game Pass was created if it really wasn’t sustainable then how is it still going strong? I wouldn’t worry about it thought as I’m sure a company like Microsoft know exactly what they are doing.

As for them offering $1 Game Pass deals, they have been doing that for years and it must be legit as no law has been opposed to it. The Bethesda buyout? It was investigated and then was allowed to go ahead, so therefor also legit.

Re: Sony Fans Bicker Over Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Paywall

MaccaMUFC

@Salt_AU Unless your a shareholder why would you be concerned about the developer? They are obviously getting paid enough by Microsoft to have their games added to Game Pass otherwise they wouldn’t do it.

Microsoft can afford to keeping running Game Pass at a loss, what ever money they lose with Game Pass they will make much more else where in other revenue. Microsoft right now is investing in Game Pass and it’s paying off because it’s just constantly growing.

Re: Sony Fans Bicker Over Ghost of Tsushima PS5 Paywall

MaccaMUFC

@sham8nix @themcnoisy Seeing as almost every Sony first party games are single player, how long and often are you going to keep playing that same game for over and over, that you’ve paid £60/£70 for if bought day one?

At least with the games that get added to Game Pass, I can finish them all while only paying £10.99 a month. That is £131.88 a year, if you bought two PS5 games for £69.99 that is more than a years worth of Game Pass. This year alone Game Pass had/getting, Dirt 5, The Medium, Outriders, MLB The Show 21, Flight Simulator, The Ascent, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, the Yakuza series, all of Bethesda games and many others. Knock Game Pass all you like but you can’t doubt it’s value and with all the studio acquisitions many more great games will come.

Re: Psychonauts 2 Will Also Release on PS4 This August

MaccaMUFC

@Col_McCafferty You can boycott all you like but it’s not going to change anything, it’ll be just you losing out on not playing the game while the company still makes a lot of money from sales and MS for putting it on Game Pass day one. Recent games like Outriders and MLB The Show 21 still sold really well despite both being on Game Pass day one. The model is obviously working, Game Pass has been around for 4 years now and it’s just getting bigger and better.

It’s all about choice, no one is forcing you to pay full price for a game on PS4/PS5 when it’s on Game Pass day one. Your just a Sony fanboy who is hurt by the fact that people who use Game Pass are getting the best deal in gaming right now. Don’t blame the people who subscribe to GP or the devs who put their games on GP or even MS themselves. Focus on getting Sony to respond but I honestly don’t think they know how to, they simply cannot compete on that level with a trillion dollar company like MS who can definitely afford to have Game Pass at a loss.

Re: You Won't Have to Wait Too Long for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on PS5

MaccaMUFC

I kind of expected it to be a short timed exclusive, I wouldn’t be surprised if others are only 3 months timed exclusive but what’s even better for me is I get to play this at no extra cost on Game Pass. If I like it enough to own for future play throughs I’ll either buy it with the 20% off before it leaves Game Pass or wait for a deeper sale.

Re: God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7 PS4 Versions Confirmed

MaccaMUFC

With all these exclusives going cross gen, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jim Ryan goes back on his infamous “We believe in generations” quote and blames it on semiconductor shortages. It makes sense from a business point of view to release them on a console that millions of people already have but at the same time it’s contradicting Jim Ryan’s statements which is making him look a bit of a prat.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion Is Now Playable at 60fps on PS5

MaccaMUFC

@sawaoyamanaka @Jacko11 Wow 2 games! Even those are still making sacrifices by reducing resolution and certain visual effects like shadows and reflections. I’d still take them over 30fps but I’m hoping to see games built only for PS5 and Series X to be running at 60fps with ray-tracing with the only sacrifice being down to 1440p, I’d be happy with that. I have no interest in 120fps, it seems excessive as 60fps is enough for a game to run smooth.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion Is Now Playable at 60fps on PS5

MaccaMUFC

Too little too late for me this update as I’ve already finished it awhile ago but great for those who are yet to play it.

Are we ever going to see games on PS5 and Series X running at 60fps with ray-tracing enabled? Or are we going to have to wait for a PS6 for that to happen?

Re: Gears of War 3 Now Playable on a PS3 Devkit

MaccaMUFC

Looks like people could soon play Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn on Xbox One and Series X/S thanks to the new Microsoft Edge for Xbox where there’s a trick to access your own entire Steam library. It’ll most likely be blocked though but here’s hoping it doesn’t.

Re: What Would the Super League Mean for FIFA 22?

MaccaMUFC

As much as I love Manchester United I’m against them supporting and being one of the founding members of this new league. It just goes against the traditional football that we know and love, there’s just no need for this new league. We have domestic leagues, champions league and the World Cup that’s enough football all year round.

I really hope FIFA and UEFA follow through with their threats if all this goes ahead because if they do then I think all the big clubs will realise that the European Super League would not be worth it without the Premier League, FA Cup, La Liga, etc.

As for the big teams not being in the FIFA games (if it ever came to that) I’d still be playing them even if my favourite team isn’t in it anymore because I just don’t like PES, I’ve always preferred FIFA since the 90’s.

Re: Out Today: MLB The Show 21 Launches at Full Price on PS5, PS4

MaccaMUFC

I’m not really into American sport games but I’m looking forward to trying this out later on Game Pass for free. Notice there’s no quotation marks or a *? That’s because in my case I’m literally going to be playing it for free because I was paying for Game Pass regardless of the game being on Game Pass or not. That’s the thing with Game Pass there’s many games on there that I’d play that I wouldn’t normally bother with, like MLB The Show 21.

It sucks that PlayStation owners are being treated like second class citizens in regards to having to pay full price with not even any discount with PS+. I know I wouldn’t be happy if I were a sole PlayStation owner so I sympathise with them.

Re: Hardware Review: PS5 Pulse 3D Wireless Headset - A Sturdy All-Rounder with Above Average Audio

MaccaMUFC

I’ve just cancelled my pre-order of the new Xbox Wireless Headset seeing as they are going to be just as similar to these in pretty much every way from price to sound quality.

To anybody who bought the Arctis 7P, my son has the Arctis 1 and I thought they sounded very average and very quiet even at max volume but they are comfortable. Can any of you compare these Arctis 1 to the 7P? I’m thinking of getting the 9X but with the Arctis 1 it says they have the exact same speaker drivers from the 9X, so in theory the 9X will sound the same and will not be loud at max volume right?

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

MaccaMUFC

@Col_McCafferty Well there’s not much you can do about it other than just to suck it up because Sony have already put plans in place to port PS4 exclusives over to PC and I doubt they’ll just stop there as some PS5 exclusives could also be ported a couple of years after release.

Going by all the comments here, you seem to be in the very small minority that is against this and unless there’s an overwhelming backlash like people boycotting by not buying PS consoles, Sony will just carry on porting PS exclusives to PC.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

MaccaMUFC

@Col_McCafferty People saying that those who are against it are pathetic, childish etc is justified because it’s true, it’s hardly an insult. Yes your entitled to your opinions but the way your all going about it are really coming across fanboyish. The question remains unanswered, how is this going to impact you as an individual? Are you really going to worry and lose sleep if there are less PS5s sold? Or that you may have to wait a little longer for a new game to release because the developers are porting a game over to PC? Please get over yourselves 🙄

In the long run it will most likely be a good thing for PS5 owners, whatever extra money Sony makes with last gen exclusives on PC could go towards making more bigger and better games. It’s not like they are releasing PS5 exclusives day one on PC, they are porting over last gen games from the PS4 which will probably be discontinued within a few years time. Those who bought a PS console have always and still have priority with exclusives releasing on console first, it’s just last gen games are getting ported to PC. I don’t see what the problem is when most have already had their fill with the games on PS4.

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About PS4 Exclusives Being Ported to PC?

MaccaMUFC

It’s great that these games are getting ported over to PC to reach a new audience, it can only be a good thing. To those of you who are upset about it, let me ask, why are you so bothered? How is it actually affecting you? Is it going to affect your enjoyment of the game on your preferred console? It shouldn’t otherwise your just being a petty fanboy and it’s actually pathetic. Sony won’t care how you feel about it if it’s going to be making them more money, they are a business and they will always put money before your happiness.

Re: Days Gone Is Coming to PC

MaccaMUFC

@Col_McCafferty If old PS4 games like HDZ, Days Gone, TLoU, GoT etc all came to Xbox, I’d buy them all for sure but it’ll never happen and I’m still getting a PS5 to play those games. So some of those games going to PC doesn’t affect someone like me who doesn’t have a PC and Sony will still have an extra PS5 sold because of that.

People need to remember that not everyone has a gaming PC or even want to game on a PC but rather sit on a couch in front of the tv, it’s a lot more comfortable and convenient and I’d say that a bigger audience than those who game on PC.

Re: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 Won't Release in 2021, Hardsuit Labs No Longer the Lead Developer

MaccaMUFC

@playstation1995 I know games have always been delayed even before Cyberpunk existed, I’m well aware as I’ve been gaming since the early 90’s. I was merely pointing out that the backlash and criticism that Cyberpunk received, which I doubt no other game has received before on that level like Sony taking the game off their PS Store, now that other developers have seen how harshly CDPR have been treated and rightly so, they will now more than ever probably think twice about releasing a game unless it meets expectations.

Re: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Another £70 / $70 PS5 Game from Sony

MaccaMUFC

There’s no genuine reason for Sony to sell this for £70 on the PS Store. They are already saving money from manufacturing, logistics, packaging, pressing discs etc. All of which are needed for physical copies but yet they are still cheaper than digital 🤔 I know it’s because of keeping stores happy who sell their hardware and software but still.

I really like the Ratchet and Clank games but when I do eventually get a PS5 I wouldn’t pay more than £15 for it, it’s a one-and-done kind of game and probably a short one at that, those type of games definitely do not justify being £70. Massive open-world games that take hundreds of hours to 100% or receives regular updates years after release, like GTA V, only deserve that price IMO.

I have to mention to the few who say GamePass has no new games and is just full of old games, well you can’t expect a new game to be released every single week and with GP at least it adds first-party games day one without having to pay a single penny for it while subscribed, you can’t say the same for PS Now.

With all these studios MS have been acquiring lately, the games will soon come such as Halo Infinite, Hellblade 2, Fable, Forza Motorsport 8/Horizon 5, Avowed, Everwild, Scorn, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, New Perfect Dark, MS Flight Simulator 2021, State of Decay 3, Starfield, Elder Scrolls VI, Gears 6, Indiana Jones, possibly a new Fallout and probably other games I’ve failed to mention. All those games will release day one on GP. Who says Xbox has no games? You may say you’ll play them on PC and still have no need for an Xbox but you’ll still be paying MS for the privilege of playing their games whether you buy the game or subscribe to GamePass for PC.

Re: Resident Evil Fans Are Freaked Out by This Incredibly Tall Woman

MaccaMUFC

I don’t know why everyone’s getting so excited, she’s just most likely using some form of filter on her Snapchat or Instagram for that selfie 😂

Until I see her in-game or in a trailer where she’s 9 or 10 foot tall then I’m just going to presume it’s just a perspective thing in that one photo. I’m interested to see how she is when hostile towards the player because she looks innocent enough.

Re: Random: This Guy Has Five PS5s

MaccaMUFC

I get the humour and joke but at a time when there’s PS5 stock shortages and a lot of people, especially kids who are wanting one for Christmas who are going to be left disappointed, this imo is in poor taste. Despite him giving away 2 Digital Edition PS5s he’s still no better than a scalper.

Re: Ubisoft Shoves XP Boosting Microtransaction into Assassin's Creed Valhalla a Month After Launch

MaccaMUFC

@Hyperluminal @Fenbops Well I was put off by how bloated Odyssey was, it just seemed too overwhelming when I only have about 4 or 5 hours of game-time a day and I couldn’t play the same game for months as I would get sort of fatigued. I’m currently playing Odyssey again as well as playing other games in between but I know that I’m not going to finish it by the time I get around to Valhalla. I completed Origins to 100% but the scale of the map and grind of levelling up in Odyssey put me off, that’s why I’m thinking of buying the XP Booster in Valhalla so I don’t feel I need to do everything, basically grind to level up to a certain level before I can progress the story.

Re: UK Sales Charts: FIFA 21 Holds Number One as Immortals Fenyx Rising Misses Top 10

MaccaMUFC

@Quintumply With GTA Online’s biggest ever update arriving next Tuesday, GTA V may move up slightly in the charts, same when it eventually releases the PS5/XSX upgrade update.

@Medic_Alert If it is true about Demon’s Souls sales not doing too well and that lots of people are trading it in then maybe now is a good time for Bluepoint Games to include that easy mode that they decided against implementing. I would certainly benefit from it as I found the Dark Souls games too difficult and frustrating to the point where I just gave up on it.

Re: Time Names PS5 One of 2020's Best Inventions

MaccaMUFC

@lacerz There is a known bug with both XSX versions of AC: Valhalla and Dirt 5. Once they are patched the PS5 will no longer have claim to have advantage over the XSX.

@Medic_Alert It has been proven that the XSX’s SSD is quicker at loading games than the PS5, despite the PS5’s SSD supposedly being twice as fast 🤔

@wiiware Aside from the haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and “faster” SSD what does the PS5 have or does better than the competition?

Re: Watch Dogs Legion - The Dullest Ubisoft Open-Worlder Yet

MaccaMUFC

@LiamCroft Will you be trying out the PS5 version? If so a couple of cons from PS4 version should be solved with better loading times and better lighting with ray tracing etc. It won’t make the game any better but least it’s a couple of positives that could bump the score up to a 6.

Re: Sony Poised to Purchase Crunchyroll for Almost $1 Billion

MaccaMUFC

What does this mean for PlayStation? Absolutely nothing I bet. Sony would of been better off using that money to acquire another big gaming developer or a couple of smaller ones, anything to at least try and counter MS’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media. After all PlayStation is Sony’s main money maker.

Re: Bethesda Games Are Looking Increasingly Unlikely on PS5

MaccaMUFC

@get2sammyb “You can't just take those IP away from people who've spent a lot of time and money on them and expect them to not say anything about it.”

What about the ten Spider-Man games that were released across all Xbox consoles before Sony locked it to PlayStation? How is that any different from MS acquiring IPs from Bethesda?

Re: PS4 Owners Aren't Happy with the New Party System

MaccaMUFC

@AdamNovice Wow, just wow. You, probably the most die-hard PlayStation fan who usually defends Sony to death and seem they can’t do no wrong (even when they are in the wrong), saying Sony’s on bad form 😮 Never did I expect to ever see the day you criticising Sony, even if was as little as saying bad form on their part.

I’m confident this will be resolved by the time I get a PS5 in the next couple of years. If enough people complain about it then Sony will have no choice but to listen and take action to solve the negativity on the issue.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Physical Crash 4 Sales Down 80% on N. Sane Trilogy

MaccaMUFC

I’d expect more and more people to turn to joining a game rental service if games are going to priced over £60 on PS5 and Series X. I’m currently playing Crash 4 that I’ve rented and it’s a good game from what I’ve played so far but no way would I pay more than £25 for it.

As for GTA V I’ll bet it’s back in the charts every week once it’s had the next-gen update on the new consoles.

Re: Spider-Man PS5 vs PS4 Comparison Shows Off a Generational Leap

MaccaMUFC

Watching the comparison video on my mobile won’t be doing it any justice but I’ll still get the remaster regardless when I get a PS5 since it’s one of the few exclusives I didn’t finish when I had a PS4.

It shouldn’t be locked behind the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, it’s a scummy tactic that Activision used when they bundled CoD MW Remastered with Infinite Warfare.

So we know this remaster will be having options like performance mode for 60fps and resolution for 4K but where does the ray-tracing fit? Will it be having it’s own mode with reduced graphics and frame-rate? Or will it be included in 4K mode with 30fps?

I was honestly expecting games that aren’t cross gen and only on PS5 and Series X to have it all, 4K 60fps with ray-tracing and no compromises. We’ve had games in 4K 60fps on X1X and PS4 Pro but the PS5 and Series X aren’t able add ray-tracing to both 4K and 60fps without making the game 1440p or 30fps?
