Put Rocket Raccoon in the game you cowards
@johncalmc i imagine he's probably be in there. I think all of the marvel characters will eventually be in it since it's a live service title so they'll keep adding to it.
@Americansamurai1 live service that's my interest comptly disappeared
It's gonna be full of DLCs isn't?
Storm alone makes it worth it!
@Dan12836666 all fighting games are now live service
I'd love to see Arc"s visual flair bring some PS protagonists to life. Kratos, Aloy etc with an anime flair will certainly sell even more copies.. Considering how many devs loan out their characters to rival devs it'd be a riot to see Ryu, Bison, Mai and more as later content
@Americansamurai1 Was going to say the same thing, Not sure why people can't understand that...
While I'm a casual Marvel fan I'm a huge X-Men fanatic, give me as many of them as possible!
@Brundleflies21 Ellie with her trusty shiv taking on all of Marvel would be awesome.
Between 16,20 characters base roster thats my bet
@Dan12836666 Have you seen any fighting games lately? They're all live service, with a bunch of DLC characters, costumes, and stages being added well after launch.
@Lup "It's gonna be full of DLCs isn't?"
Can you name a fighting game from this gen or the previous gen that was released with a complete roster without dlc? Unfortunately this has been the norm
@Oram77 yeah I think people just see live service and think it's all bad, but different genres benefit in the space, like fighting games who have a dedicated community that stays with a game for a long time.
@StrickenBiged Would have to be either the Hunter, Lady Maria or Gascoigne for me. Bloodborne characters in anime would be delightfully graceful as well as grotesque
@Dan12836666 all fighting games are live service now , did you just notice ?
This looked absolutely amazing. Definite day one.
@Americansamurai1 there where live service games before the term was even made , anything with a season pass is live service , elder scrolls , fall out , call of duty ect ect
@ChrisDeku just depends on how long the game last. If it sticks around for 5 years who knows.
@twitchtvpat very true
@Juanalf This is a false narrative. Fighting games release with complete rosters, and then are added to. Street Fighter 6 has the largest base roster (not to mention most single player content, and most robust online mode) of any initial mainline SF game.
Tekken 8 launched with 32 characters base roster. The old games would have maybe ten or twelve in the base, then the same number added via unlocks... so they're still falling well short of T8 (not to mention a vastly simplified movest vs. T8, and a lot of the "extra" characters are little more than model swaps with an extra move thrown in).
@ChrisDeku I just snorted my water laughing at this.
Sony, Arc Sys please I swear I'll give you 100 damn quid for this game if you put Jubilee in it 😅 😭🙏
@Anya-chan That's far to small for a game with 4V4
@ChrisDeku It’s very tiresome, yeah.
@Keyblade-Dan Oh my god, we need Jubilee!
You know I hope they add some of marvels cosmic level characters like Blue Marvel Hyperion Gladiator Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer.
@get2sammyb For real she's my favourite Marvel character joint with Spidey and she's never been playable in a fighting game she's was an assist only character in MVC2 but that's not enough SHE DESERVES HER MOMENT DAMN IT!!! 😅
Does anyone know if they will have English voice acting? I don't know the developers too well so not trying to be ignorant. I usually play Japanese games in original audio, but I dono if I could take the marvel cast speaking Japanese seriously.
@zimbogamer I don't think they've said but it almost certainly will have English as an option.
I hope they can differentiate it enough from the Capcom series so it doesn't feel too samey.
@Dragonaged Yah. My first reaction during the State of Play when they showed it was "Sweet, a new Marvel vs. Capcom!"
It sure looks like gameplay is pretty darn close. Minus Capcom characters. Plus one extra character on your team (team of 4 instead of 3).
There are a LOT of characters I wanna see but for now I just say that I wait patiently for Peni Parker…
@Keyblade-Dan hummm yeah but I assume this game will be around for years thanks to season passes i will be not surprise if they cut characters from base game to sell as dlc
@Coolmusic thats a must have character if they put peni im buying the most expensive edition O.O
Kinda sick of seeing the same characters in every game
@Keyblade-Dan Jubilee would be hype, of course people will want fan favourites but if they can add some classic X-Men characters then it'll make a lot of people happy. Wolverine is virtually a guarantee considering Sony's involvement with this and making his own game.
@AdamNovice They did mention they wanted to include some characters that have never been in a fighting game before so hopefully she has a shot ^__^🤞
So glad!
Magik was my top pick.
Danger is a pleasant surprise imho.
Wolverine, I didn't much care, but he was inévitable, I guess.
Also, team finishers, right!?
Still day one for me ^^
@MrPeanutbutterz
Agreed.
"Back in the days"... Well, there was no character/balance patches dlc and you had to buy a whole new game the next year or so.
I'm not sure anyone really miss buying the samey game full price every year because it added 2 characters and the word "super" or "pro" or whatever to it's title
So with it being teams, I'm guessing captain America, iron man, and two other will make up the avengers, doom with three unannounced characters will be the villains team, and ghost Rider with three unannounced characters will be the final team.
@AinsleyE Stilt-Man's not in nearly enough stuff.
so glad ghost rider is in, now plz put him in marvel rivals
@Americansamurai1
Also, if not for this model, you'd buy a new version with only small changes every 18.months or so.
I'm not really nostalgic of having to buy the dash, prime, turbo, super, x itération every time. I am ok with continuous live update instead, balance, characters and so on, for this peculiar genre.
@MichaelNau It's only taken me several months to reply, but here we are!
Indeed, fighting games is one of the few genres where live service is a benefit. It's particularly useful in the sense that your initial purchase is never invalidated. I bought Tekken 8 day one (lamentably), zero DLC, but can still jump in vs. my buddy who bought it the other week with all the DLC.
I'm more of a Street Fighter player, bought day one, have bought season pass one and two, he picked up the base game for chump change there (he's only recently got back into console gaming), so we can jump in online.
It's great, and every time I see someone moan how the old games "let them unlock characters for free" I roll my eyes.
@MrPeanutbutterz
Couldn't agree more.
Besides, tbh, games like sf6 or grandblue versus are now packed with content on release.
A real effort has been made.
@MichaelNau Haven't played GB Vs., but SF6 was jam packed with features at launch. It's funny because if that was a game from back in the 90s, it would be considered complete at launch, and the inevitable "Super Turbo" iteration would be seen as purely optional (despite fracturing the player-base). Yet people lose their minds in the modern era over these already complete games being built upon.
Maybe it's a psychological thing seeing little lock icons when they're added to the select screen?
@Oram77 coz people don’t understand what live service now means. It just means constant updates. I’m not a huge fan as in 30 years those games will be lost. But I assume ROMs will exist with all content patched in. If you know what I mean.
UFC games with constant free new fighters - it’s hard to see why anyone would have an issue with it. But games that launch with 15 fighters but have 400 in dlc I know why people hate that. This is a pathetic roster IMHO. WWE games launched with 300 wrestlers. With movesets, entrances and all that. This game and others like it should be stacked with Marvel stars from day one and then deep cuts and different era, looks etc added after. I’ve always been underwhelmed by marvel rosters even Marvel Ultimate alliance. It was good but they still locked certain characters to certain versions and it’s just maddening! Also give me Blade and Punisher everytime please 😂
@Juanalf UFC launched with 100, even undisputed started with 50 with
Modest budget and WWE started with 300 - 15/20 in a marvel game is frankly insulting.
@MrPeanutbutterz
Oooor maybe most people are too young to remember... Or just love complaining on command
On a more positive stance, yeah, SF6 was packed on launch, gbvr has a story mode mixing beat them up, rpg and two players, kof 15 jukebox was very cool, can't dent Tekken 8 or MK One production value story cutscenes and so on. Not even taking into account their training mode.
Right now, the little World of fighting games is in a very good place, which makes me very happy ^^
@Oram77 I just get them later down the line at 1/3 of the price and with most characters. 😅
@MrPeanutbutterz Still worked at day one decent roster and costumes unlocked by playing. Now its never complete even with the complete editions.
@Flaming_Kaiser Go re-read my comment (21) and apply even just a modicum of critical thinking.
That said, if you buy the game at 1/3 of the price with all the characters, you're buying it at the end of its life and so are clearly not the target market for these games.
Saying "I buy the complete version when it's cheap!!!" isn't the gotcha you seem to think it is - by the time you get around to doing that, people who are into these games will have been playing it for hundreds (if not thousands) of hours over many years.
