Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is not having the best time of it. Announced in March of 2019, the sequel to the beloved RPG has seen delay after delay, and now it seems the game is in a more precarious position than ever. The last we heard was that the title would be unlikely to release in the first half of this year; now, it's not coming in 2021 at all.
Publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that Bloodlines 2 has been delayed indefinitely. More than that, Hardsuit Labs won't be leading development going forward. The news comes from a statement on the game's website and via Twitter:
Pre-orders for the game have been closed until the publisher is ready to assign a new release date. Paradox assures that the game "is still in development", but it sounds as though the project just wasn't quite coming together. "In order to meet our goals for it, we've come to the conclusion that a change is needed and, as a result, more development time is required".
So, the future of Bloodlines 2 is uncertain with no date and no announced developer attached to the project. Here's hoping the next time we report on this game, the news will be more positive. For now, fans will have to be patient until Paradox has everything in order.
Are you looking forward to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2? Does this news come as a surprise, or were you expecting further troubles? Don't go batty in the comments section below.

Yeah, this game is never coming out.
This game is in development hell now.
Even if it does come out at this point it's going to be a dumpster fire like Cyperpunk. Best to just leave the stake in the chest of this one.
It’s as if the fallout from Cyberpunk has made developers a lot more cautious and are afraid of the backlash it could receive that would hurt their reputation and sales if the quality of the game fails to match the hype.
First Cyberpunk, now this, next Dying Light 2.
Followed the link to their website and all I get is an undergoing maintenance message. On point, very droll

@MaccaMUFC. This has nothing to do with cyberpunk .developers been delaying theyre games even more on the x box one and ps4 days.you think theyre was thinking about cyberpunk and said oh yeah lets delay our game.😂🤔.delays been part of video games for years.its maybe the game development aint going to great or vice versa.its been like that for more than 7 years playa.word up son
Welp, something went very wrong over there
Yeah, this is literally the crap that happened the with the first one. Don’t even compare it to Cyberpunk, just read about the first game’s development cycle.
Oooft!
To be fair they never actually finished making the first one either.
Development hell is now made official
It seems like the curse of Chris Avellone has reached both Hardsuit Labs and Techland after his removal from their projects
I remember buying the first one back in 2004 and that was an unfinished dumpster fire ! Buggier than a beehive. It was left to the fans to finish and repair the game with patches and mods
Dead Island 2, Dying Light 2 and now this.
Yikes
This tears me up. This was one of the top 3 games I've ever looked forward to. The first one might be the best undiscovered jewel ever released. And this one started with such promise!
Chris Avellone and Brian Mitsoda in what I thought were leadership positions, the fantastic fiction of the first game, a new engine, and some up and coming developers trying to prove themselves.
When they let go of Avellone and Mitsoda, it's like the wheels were coming off. Then indefinite delays, followed by no new updates pretty much had this one's fate sealed.
Now it's been shown that Hardsuit Labs isn't up to the task. What a sad state of affairs, and a sad day for gaming in general.
Trying to be optomistic and clinging to hope here, all I can say is I like Paradox as a publisher, and at least they recognized Hardsuit couldn't handle it. I don't readily see who they can hand it off to, though.
I hate scratching this one off my wishlist.
@playstation1995 I know games have always been delayed even before Cyberpunk existed, I’m well aware as I’ve been gaming since the early 90’s. I was merely pointing out that the backlash and criticism that Cyberpunk received, which I doubt no other game has received before on that level like Sony taking the game off their PS Store, now that other developers have seen how harshly CDPR have been treated and rightly so, they will now more than ever probably think twice about releasing a game unless it meets expectations.
Pretty certain that after all Avellone did he won't be missed but the other departures were a bad sign. I'm sure there's more to the story that will come out sooner or later.
