I’d really wish Ubisoft would just do away with the Assassin’s Creed name, they could of easily just named this simply as Valhalla and make it just about vikings.

@Medic_Alert Hate to break it to you but I have actually played quite a few games that do 4K 60fps on the One X with games such as Doom, Halo 5, Forza Motorsport 7, FIFA, Minecraft, Super Lucky’s Tale and there’s a few other sports and indie games.

@Medic_Alert I admit I’m not tech-savvy or know in-depth technical details of the insides of the new consoles but after playing games in 4K 60fps on the One X for the past few years, I’d of expected the Series X and PS5 of being able to output games in 4K 60fps with ease, especially considering how much more powerful they are. I just hope we’ve seen the end of choosing either performance, resolution and modes like Rise of the Tomb Raider’s Enriched mode.

The question is why is it not 4K 60fps? It should be capable of 4K 60fps as standard. 1440p 60fps is what the Series S can do, a low-specced £250 console, this is on a full fat PS5 which is £360/£450.

It may still look glorious and not matter to some who don’t care for 4K and think it’s a “waste of resources” but you have to ask why is it not 4K 60fps? Is it a dev choice or is the console unable to run it smoothly in 4K?

Play has no limits? More like ‘Pay has no limits’.

Well I’m not one of those gamers who will happily pay £70 for games on day one unless it’s a really high quality game that I’ll keep going back to for years to come like GTA, The Witcher etc. Would much rather rent them and save myself a lot of money in the long run. I’ve saved over £9K renting games since 2014.

@Flaming_Kaiser I was using Sea of Thieves as an example of a first party online-only game. Sure it was bare bones when it first released but since then it’s had a lot of content added making it a more complete game. It’s in Game Pass because it’s a first party game and that’s what MS is doing now going forward, adding every first party game to Game Pass on day one and they won’t be “massive dumpster fires” either unless you consider Forza, Halo, Gears of War, Fable, State of Decay as “massive dumpster fires”? I’d much rather play all them for as little as £7.99 a month than pay £69.99 for each one, which is what PS5 owners are going to have to do with PS5 exclusives. Then you’ve got The Medium, Scorn, Avowed and Stalker 2 being Xbox console exclusives but don’t know if any of those will be added to Game Pass as of yet.

@AdamNovice The thing is I couldn’t justify paying £70 for single player ‘one and done’ games which take less than a day to complete and they make up most of the PS5 first party exclusives. On the other hand I could justify that price with games like Halo and Gears of War which features a single player campaign as well as multiplayer modes which further increases the game’s replay value.

Most PS exclusives play out like Hollywood blockbusters but the actual gameplay isn’t impressive at all, it’s like your playing out a movie along with a lot of cutscenes in between. How many PS exclusives have actual multiplayer and games that rely solely for multiplayer like Sea of Thieves?

I’m not saying PS exclusives ain’t good, in fact I believe they are fantastic and the reason I’ve owned 3 PS4’s and will get a PS5 in a few years time solely for it’s exclusives but there’s a reason why I’ve owned 3 PS4’s and that’s because most of the exclusives were ‘one and done’ type games and had nothing to make me keep the consoles.

Know what else isn’t sustainable? Paying £70 for a game, especially in this current climate. At least with Xbox Game Pass we’ve got the option of playing first party games on release for £8 a month, much more affordable and consumer-friendly.

😂 how the tables have turned. After all the backlash about Halo Infinite and other Series X/S games being cross-gen and being told they are going to hold the next gen games back.

As a soon to be Series X owner this is great news. I’m currently watching Vikings on Amazon Prime Video so I’m really looking forward to playing AC Valhalla.

Even if the PS5 doesn’t display the game as native 4K, as @nessisonett said they’ll be tech used like DLSS but I’d still like to see Digital Foundry do comparisons between all consoles even if the differences are marginal.

I’d expect the PS5 to reveal price, date and when it’s available to pre-order sometime next week, if not then fans should be rightly worried.

As for price I really can’t see the digital model being less than £400, it’s still the same powerful PS5 as the disc-based model and if there is only a £50 difference between the two models then I really don’t see many people bothering with the digital model but would rather pay the extra £50 for the disc drive. If it was £100 difference then that could make people to consider saving money.

Sony won’t care what it’s fans think as long as this business strategy makes them more money. That’s what their fans need to understand, they (Sony) like other big corporations are in the business of making money not pleasing their fans.

It could be bad for Sony in the long run if a lot of their fans stopped buying PlayStation consoles as their game and network services are their biggest income. MS can afford to sell less consoles but Sony can’t. I can’t see this mattering anyway, there must way more casual gamers out their than PC gamers.

The question is why can’t a first party PS5 exclusive do 4K 60fps? The devs have been able to fully focus and take full advantage of the power of PS5 but are still giving options of either resolution or performance modes from last-gen, why can’t it do both? 🤔

@bbauer36 Xbox isn’t just a console anymore, it’s so much more than that. Microsoft won’t care how many Series X/S is sold, consoles are sold at a loss anyway at least at first and MS have enough money to buy Sony several times over so don’t worry about their console sales. The Series X/S is merely just an option now since it’s moving the Xbox brand on with Game Pass for PC and xCloud. Sony on the other hand will be stuck in the past relying on console sales while completing with just Nintendo. Xbox are leaving them behind by no longer restricting games on just a console or dedicated handheld device, it’ll now be possible to play Xbox games on several devices anywhere at anytime. They’ll be plenty of console owners here who prefer to game at home on their couch on a big tv but believe it or not so much more people game on mobiles/tablets than consoles.

Sony rely heavily on solid single player games to sell their consoles as well as having the brand recognition but it’s multiplayer games that are much more popular these days and with Microsoft’s xCloud and most people around the world owning a mobile/tablet, they know what they are doing.

Oh that’s it, this is enough to make me go out and buy a PS4 to play as Spider-Man....Pur-lease 🙄

This makes sense for current PS4 owners but Sony doubling down on this game with exclusivity isn’t going to make people go out and buy a PS4 or go for that version if they prefer to game on either Xbox or PC. I personally think Sony is taking a big risk investing so much into this game when a lot of people clearly don’t have much confidence in the quality of it.

@JJ2 Thing is MS seem to be way more consumer friendly lately with Sony being anti-consumer by pulling stunts like this. Phil Spencer doesn’t care about console sales because MS don’t rely on console sales unlike Sony. Subscriptions from Game Pass and making xCloud as successful as possible is what they care about, also they have the biggest player base out there with Xbox and PC combined, as well as reaching a new audience of android users due to xCloud which I can see being a big chance to break Japan as we know they love their portability so I don’t see why you think PS will have more exclusivity because Series X will be selling less than PS5.

As a big fan of Hitman from the very beginning I’d love to try this out but won’t be getting a PS5 till at least a couple of years after release. Hopefully I’ll be able to get one bundled with PSVR then try this out.

Funny thing is R* wouldn’t dare allow this to happen to GTA Online, their number one money maker. It’s no surprise to see their standards slip on RDR Online, bet they feel obligated to support the game but would rather fully focus on GTA Online instead.

@WallyWest It’s not bad playing solo as I like doing solo missions from time to time and just roaming around but it’s definitely more fun playing with friends. But 90% of the time when I’m on GTA Online there’s always that one griefer spoiling it for everyone flying around constantly blowing everyone up on their Oppressor/jet.

@Nightcrawler71 R* won’t make much money on RDR Online’s Gold Bars compared to GTA Online’s Shark Cards, there’s just not much to buy on RDR but with GTA there’s so much more interesting things to buy.

I currently have $4.5 million in my bank on GTA Online but the cheapest yacht in the sale is $4.2 million, do I really want to use most of my money on that to do a few missions? I don’t think so 🤨

@theMEGAniggle Because you get what you pay for with headphones. If you buy a cheap pair for £30 your going to get poor audio and build quality, buy a premium pair for £200+ then your getting much better audio, build quality and features like Bluetooth.

I see only Audeze with the Mobius and Penrose, also HyperX Cloud Orbit (which uses the same drivers from Audeze) that have 100mm drivers and much better frequency response than any other headphone out there, so these should standout from the rest.

People should check out this new headset thats built with PS5 in mind, Audeze’s Penrose. They come with 100mm planar magnetic drivers, 10Hz-50kHz freq response, broadcast quality mic and it has Bluetooth. I’m pre-ordering the Penrose X for Series X.

These should sound epic when other wireless headsets out there have 40mm/50mm drivers and 20Hz-22kHz freq response. They are releasing in September and the first 1000 pre-orders are £249.99 then will be £299.99 when they retail.

Any word on whether we will have to triple dip for the next gen version? I wouldn’t be surprised if we had to but I certainly won’t be paying more than £24.99 for a 2013 game, no matter what improvements it has.

I’d expect it to have at least native 4K, 60fps and maybe have ray-tracing, we know it’s doable on PS5 and Series X it’s whether Rockstar will put the effort in.

You’d think Crystal Dynamics are going out of their way to cannibalise Xbox, PC and Stadia sales with these shady tactics. Has CD learnt nothing from the year-long Xbox exclusivity of Rise of the Tomb Raider? All I’m seeing is people saying they are cancelling their pre-orders, not even going to buy it anymore and giving valid reasons such as why should they pay full price for an inferior version of the game?

I can understand Spider-Man being an exclusive character but to go that bit further to lock out other content on other platforms is really like sticking two fingers up at that platform’s player base, well looks like they will be returning the favour by putting their wallets away when this mediocre looking game releases.

@BAMozzy Most people who are loyal to the PS brand will never consider getting a Series X because all I see is them saying they'll just use their PC for Gamepass but I do find it funny when they say Xbox have no exclusives because they can just play them on their PC but if they are using Gamepass for PC they’ll still be brought into the Xbox ecosystem which is what MS ultimately want regardless of whether they are using Gamepass on Xbox or PC. It’s a win-win for MS even if they don’t buy a Series X, just as long as they subscribe for Gamepass on PC.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bruno Fernandes makes it on the cover of FIFA 22 next year, he’s been the standout player by far since joining United.

Didn’t realise F1 was such a popular sport among gamers. I love watching F1 but not fussed on the games. Surprised how much FIFA 20 has fallen though but we know these days digital sales account to most of the sales over physical. It kind of makes this physical sales chart redundant as it doesn’t give the whole picture on how games are doing sales wise. Merging physical and digital sales together is the only way but people say it’s too much of hassle so I suppose we’ll never know.

I don’t get why they cancelled the event when the company did the right thing by getting rid of bloke who the police will be dealing with now so that should be the end of that, why cancel the event and disappoint the fans? They should of just went ahead and not give the pedo the time of day as he will now just rot in a cell. It just seems people go OTT when some scandal happens then decide to put the brakes on everything as if the world has stopped spinning. Just stop messing about and carry on.

With Boomerang Rentals in UK I only pay £9.99 a month and can rent as many games as I want within that month, provided I send the current rented game back obviously. I’ve saved almost £9K since joining in 2014 and with this news it looks like I’ll rely on them now more than ever.

It won’t affect me as I’m sticking to current gen till next year and I only buy certain games like large open-world games and other genres in digital sales, otherwise I’ll just rent anything else I’m interested in.

Why don’t they just keep the pitstops, tyre wear and fuel usage for the higher difficulty settings? Surely it’s better to have the option to turn them off rather than remove them entirely?

I can see the disc-based PS5 being £549 and digital PS5 being £499 with both selling out on release but the disc-based PS5 being the bigger seller.

With the digital only PS5 you lose out on the 4K Blu-Ray disc drive which you wouldn’t then be able to purchase cheaper physical games and 4K Blu-Ray dvds. Also those like me who rent games, wouldn’t be able to do so. If it was £80 cheaper then I’d consider the digital edition as I’d only buy the exclusives but don’t see it going that cheap.

Apparently today here in the UK, Lidl were selling the Xbox One S with 3 games for £99. Also heard the Switch was going for the same price at certain retailers but we’re only exclusive to NHS staff taking advantage of 50% off everything.

I’d be very surprised if it was less than £499.99 and I really can’t see the digital edition being £100 less, it’s still going to have the same specs as the one with a disc drive. Lockhart/Series S however will be different to the Series X and can definitely see that costing at least £100 less, maybe even less than that.

Tbh I got the impression it was an entirely new Spider-Man game like a squeal but at the end when it said Miles Morales and not 2 I thought it would be an add-on. I don’t mind this as I barely played 2018’s Spider-Man so I’ll get this when I get the PS5 in a couple of years time.

Only 1080p? You’d think it would be 4K seeing as most people own 4K TVs/devices. I realise it would cost more but 1080p just seems like an outdated resolution.

It certainly looks stylish and futuristic, least it’s not boring and ugly. It’s the design of the controller which is a big improvement to me, I’ve never liked the past controllers.

@AdamNovice The thing is we don’t know if Lockhart is going to be a digital-only console. It could very well still have a disc drive and still be cheaper than the digital-only PS5. And we have to assume that the digital-only PS5 will still have the same specs as the one with a disc drive and how much cheaper do you really think it’s going to be? Not much I bet, whereas Lockhart will have lower specs than the Series X (it will have even less teraflops than the Xbox One X) and I can see Lockhart or Series S as I’d like to think it’s going to be named, selling at least £100-£150 less than the Series X.

One of the few games that I thought didn’t look next gen at all. Tbh I’ve seen better on current gen. And as others have said, poor music choice it was totally irrelevant to the game/gameplay.

@Quintumply It’s almost as if you couldn’t even be bothered to report on this going by the article and I don’t blame you, you just know it’s going to be one of those games that’ll sell/review badly then forgotten about. Maybe one for the kids when it’s a few quid in a sale.

I’m mainly an Xbox guy and I was impressed with that reveal, it absolutely blew last month’s Series X “gameplay” reveal out the water. Showing the PS5 at the end was just the cherry on the cake. I really want to know about it’s backward compatibility, I want to be able to play Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone on it.

Politics should have no place in videos games, so why the hell are gaming companies doing just that for brownie points while saying nothing meaningful because they don't want to offend anyone?

We are all in a much bigger crisis that’s affecting the whole world than what’s going on in just the U.S right now. People are dying world-wide on a daily basis because of Covid-19 but I’ve not been seeing statements like this of late 🤔

The world is supposed to just carry on but when something like BLM protests (which I appreciate the cause they stand for btw) are making headline news, gaming companies expect the world to stop and make it everything about that political movement? How about just keeping video games out of it, stop trying to care and save face and just focus on your games/events because newsflash, there’s always some s*** going on in the world every day.

@AdamNovice I’d say Sony will be needing to aim for a hole-in-one to counter MS with how forthcoming they’ve been with the Series X. Sony can’t afford to slip up and will need to beat the Series X on price. Having an SSD that’s twice as fast as Series X’s is not going to be enough, you can say they’ll have better exclusives but in the end that’s all down to opinion and they haven’t even confirmed any at all for the PS5.

My favourite PlayStation exclusive of all time. Completed it twice, once on PS3 then again on PS4 with the remaster. I cannot wait to play Part 2 and hope it’s playable on PS5 which I’ll get once it’s got a decent amount of exclusives released.

I see there’s some mixed opinions here and I also agree with some that say it looks too similar to a Ubisoft open-world game, namely Assassin’s Creed and God knows we’ve had plenty of them. So in that case GoT just looks forgettable as it doesn’t look to bring anything fresh and innovative to the table. I would much rather Sucker Punch bring a new Infamous to PS5 as I really enjoyed the series since the first on PS3.

Looks like TLoU Part 2 will be the last big exclusive that sends PS4 out with a bang before PS5 arrives.

Yeah that was no gameplay in that trailer at all but it did say at the start that everything in the trailer is representative of expected Series X gameplay, if that’s the case then wow Valhalla is going to look amazing on SX.

I’m getting a Series X but even I was disappointed with that Inside Xbox show. I thought some good games were revealed but relied too heavily on CGI trailers and not enough gameplay. At least MS are being a lot more forthcoming with showing games for next gen, same can’t be said of Sony who really need to be pulling their fingers out after MS said there will be monthly reveals up until the Series X launches.

Release them on PS4, Xbox One and Switch with Trophies and Achievements and they will sell like hot cakes. It would be absolutely bizarre if it really was only releasing on PS3.
