Spider-Man Remastered on PC may very well run/look better than the PS5 but you’ll never find a PC or gaming laptop for £450 that can look and run as good as the PS5 version. The simplicity, convenience and low cost (even with £70 games) of playing on a console far outweighs playing on PC/laptop in terms of pros and cons.
Do we know if we’re ever going to see Spider-Man Remastered being sold standalone on PS5 now that the PC version is being sold standalone?
It’s really interesting watching old news footage about technologies that we all take for granted in this day and age.
It’s absolutely mental that consoles and game prices were pretty much about the same as todays because in those days it was a lot of money. These days it’s more affordable for most people.
@Col_McCafferty Or the other option is to rent it, which is what I’m planning to do. I have no intention of buying this at all when I own the remaster but I wouldn’t mind playing through this again before playing Part II for the first time.
I don’t know why Rockstar doesn’t just patch in mods for the players to create their own modes and stuff, it would be better than just completely abandoning the game and community.
Does this mean that scalpers will have a harder time selling PS5s? I hope so because then they’ll most likely discount it so low that it will not be worth it for them and put them off bulk buying the next lot.
If games cost too much for you there are game rental services out there, I use Boomerang Rentals here in the UK. In the US they have GameFly.
Is it just me or are movies from cinemas starting to quickly move onto steaming services so soon after their cinema release? Even the new Top Gun Maverick movie is available on Amazon Video despite it still showing in cinemas.
Either way I’ll sure be watching the Uncharted movie with a tub of Häagen-Dazs once it’s available on Netflix, if it’s on the UK version that is.
Well Mr Zelnick, there’s a lot of people out there who can’t/won’t buy new games day one due to the cost of living with energy, fuel and food prices all sky rocketing. Gaming is a luxury that we can live without, the same can’t be said about the others though.
Putting games day and date on a subscription service may not make sense economically to some but then why are there many games, not just indies but big budget games too, releasing day and date on Game Pass? In times like this Game Pass and PS Plus is even more appealing as opposed to shelling out full price for a game.
Wow what difference, if this looks the same while in-game then looks like I’ll be playing through this for the third time but no way would I pay £70 for it, I’d rent it instead.
@frankmcma Which 10 games were labelled Xbox exclusive? All I saw at the beginning of every trailer was World Premiere and Xbox Launch exclusive. I do know what console launch exclusive means has I already explained it in my previous post, if someone didn’t know what it meant than that’s on them, it only takes seconds to type in a question to receive an answer.
Also so what if MS had NDAs on devs/publishers, they won’t of been forced, they’d of been paid and regardless of what you think of the practice at the end of the day it’s all just business and doesn’t affect anyone, it’s not like anyone got hurt right? Not physically anyway lol
@frankmcma Which games did MS say were exclusive solely to Xbox? I just quickly ran through the showcase and not once did they say a multi platform title was a console exclusive. A few said they were console launch exclusives, meaning it’s coming to Xbox consoles first but that’s different to claiming it’s never coming to other platforms.
@iKickBullies “Persona, they just say PC and Xbox despite the press release saying otherwise”
But you said this in the previous paragraph
“At the state of play of course you don't mention other platforms. As you don't at MS or Nintendo events”
So you agree each company shouldn’t have to mention other platforms in their own events but then you criticise MS for not mentioning other platforms in it’s own event? You make no sense lol
@get2sammyb Whatever Microsoft’s reasoning was to put this embargo in place, it did get you all worked up and wondering if certain games were ever going to come to PlayStation. The Callisto Protocol and Street Fighter 6, both 3rd party games shown on State of Play only mention them coming to PS4/PS5 so how is that any different to what MS did?
This game takes me back to when I was a kid and despite me being an adult now I still can’t bring myself to play the game, it’s so scary it traumatised me as a kid. It’s safe to say I’ll be skipping this and look forward to RE4 Remake instead.
@LiamCroft You seem to have drawn too much comparisons between this and Until Dawn which I feel has impacted your review rather than just reviewing The Quarry on its own merits. Also 5/10 while everywhere else has been scoring higher? I respect people have their own opinions but I really hope your not click baiting as you lot are much better than that.
Seeing as @get2sammyb reviewed Until Dawn and gave it an 8, it would be interesting to know if he agrees with Liam’s review and score.
@Master_Shake Yeah your right actually, I take back my last comment. I was watching the State of Play while working but after rewatching it there is actually a decent amount of gameplay for some games. There was only three games I was interested in The Callisto Protocol, RE4 Remake and Stray but there was enough variety of games for everyone.
Wow seems a lot of people on here are easily pleased. I thought it was average tbf, most of the games shown were cgi trailers and not enough gameplay. I though there were a few decent games in there but to say it was the best State of Play ever? Really?
It’s down to the team in green to respond now and deliver the goods next Sunday, can’t wait.
As someone who would only be interested in the modern exclusives I’d go for the Extra option. Then if any of the first party games in the service goes on sale, I’d buy it through the service as I’m presuming they’ll be a further discount if I’m subscribed?
Am I missing something here? It looks just exactly as they were when they were sold as stand alone, now with just an HD menu with the word Origins added? I’m just not getting the hype around it especially at the price it’s going for.
What I’d like to know is will the first party PlayStation Studios games stay on the service and never rotate out? I hope that’s the case otherwise I’d be better off buying exclusives like Spider-Man, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn etc as those are big open world games that take a lot of time to complete.
Until we start seeing a sales chart that includes both physical and digital sales only then will we be getting the full picture of how well certain games are selling, reporting on only physical sales seems kind of redundant 🤷🏻♂️
@naruball Tomassi isn’t far off in what he’s saying though, especially with the first party games in this ‘sale’. With me being only interested in PS exclusives, I personally wouldn’t pay more than £25 for any of the first party games but at least we’ll soon have PS Plus Extra to play the likes of Returnal, GoW, Death Stranding. Hopefully R&C Rift Apart will be added sometime this year as I wouldn’t mind subscribing for those one and done type games and saving myself a lot of money in doing so.
What I’d like to know is will PlayStation Studios games like Spider-Man, Returnal, God of War etc, will they be staying on the service and never rotated out? First party games on Game Pass never leave the service so I’d like to see Sony do the same as I’d definitely get PS Plus Extra especially if some of it’s first party games are still expensive to buy.
Those saying games decline in quality due to releasing day one on Game Pass, what games have released day one on Game Pass then a sequel or other IP being of poor quality for it? I think people can judge once all the big games have released day one for example like Halo Infinite, Halo 5 wasn’t on Game Pass day one so the next new Halo game can be judged after Infinite.
We all knew Sony wouldn’t be releasing their first party games day and date with this new service anyway but it’s still disappointing nevertheless to have it officially confirmed. If they did though then it would be a serious competitor to Game Pass Ultimate.
I can confirm that the ray-tracing is non existent in Performance RT mode, at least from the Series X version, so that will definitely need patched. I was initially going to always play in Performance RT mode but for now I may as well just play in just Performance mode.
I’ve yet to experience the DuelSense controller but I look forward to trying it out once I get a PS5.
@get2sammyb Rockstar had nothing to do with the GTA Trilogy remaster, it was Grove Street Games. Had Rockstar worked on the Trilogy themselves, I doubt it would of released in the state GSG had released it in.
@riceNpea Loving the sarcasm 😂 but yeah it’ll definitely not be a free upgrade, Rockstar have put a lot of effort into it. I just hope it’s not full price like £50/£60 as I think £25 at the most is more reasonable. Also existing owners should get a discount seeing as some of us have already double dipped.
I’d say this a big loss for Xbox and a big win for PlayStation but I’d be lying. Bungie are just simply no longer the same developer they were when they made the Halo series. Most of the key people have since left, the studio is a shadow of it’s former self.
They’ve developed two games from the same IP within 12 years, I’m hoping with this acquisition they will start to develop other IPs otherwise I’d be rolling my eyes if they announced Destiny 3 🙄
Also despite it joining PlayStation Studios it is staying independent and will still release their games on other platforms. So I’m wondering why Sony bothered to acquire them at all? 🤔
@Col_McCafferty What pay £70 for a game that can be finished in a day or two with no replay value? Don’t be silly.
I meant I wouldn’t mind seeing a tier that included exclusives from the last few years like Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man etc. I don’t expect Sony to be releasing new exclusives day one even on the highest tier if there’s going to be a tiered subscription service.
“people are mainly buying it on PlayStation 5“ I feel for those poor people who have bought that absolute mediocre game. I’m so glad I got to try it on Game Pass before spending a penny on it. I don’t understand why there went in the direction they did with Extraction as it’s nothing like Siege and Siege is so much better imo.
I don’t see this ever happening for obvious reasons, Sony’s eventually going to unveil its own new subscription service. Allowing Game Pass on PlayStation would be a direct competitor and could potentially lose a lot of subscribers that go to GP instead of “Spartacus” and I really don’t see it matching GP’s value and offerings.
If this ever did happen then PlayStation owners would benefit the most by having the best of both worlds, having Xbox exclusives day one on their own PS4 and PS5.
@oconnoclast I’m with @Dan_ozzzy189 about Hell Let Loose. You’ve got to have patience and know how the game works to really appreciate it, team work and communication is a must. If your used to games like CoD and BF then you’ve got no chance unless you adapt to the game’s play style. It’s also my favourite FPS. Feel free to block me just because I enjoy a game you don’t.
@ShogunRok Thanks for letting us know about this. I’ve not touched the game since March last year but this weapon will be handy for when I do eventually go back to it.
@OneWingedAngel @HungryHungryHomer I’m talking about the old Spider-Man games that used to be on the OG Xbox and 360, with the last one being The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Xbox One.
When you say MS are depriving gamers due to buying out both Bethesda and Activision, you mean just PlayStation and Nintendo gamers? They have their own exclusives that can’t be played on any other platform, sure the exclusives are from their own in-house studios but does it really matter if MS buyout third party studios? It’s not like your forced to get an Xbox, you can play them on several different platforms. It is what it is, everyone moaning about it will just have to suck it up.
@OneWingedAngel It’s no different when Sony took Spider-Man off Xbox when it was multi platform. Granted that’s one IP but it’s not Microsoft’s fault that Sony isn’t being as aggressive in making huge acquisitions. The ball is in Sony’s court to respond.
@Col_McCafferty You and others saying MS could start charging £30 a month for Game Pass. If MS ever did own the majority of third party studios and all the games were on GP day one, £30 a month would be well worth it. Plus they are not forcing you to subscribe, you can buy one game at a time at full price like you do with PlayStation exclusives and you don’t even need an Xbox console to play them, you can play them on a PC, tablet/phone and potentially your TV if there is ever a Game Pass app to stream the games from the TV.
I’m curious if you would be this negative if Sony had acquired Bethesda and Activision? Because if that had happened a lot more people would be restricted to playing the games on one system. At least MS is allowing options to play the games on other platforms other than just on an Xbox console.
Do you honestly believe Sony wouldn’t be making these huge acquisitions if they could afford to? It’s all business to these corporations at the end of the day and no one can simply compete with MS.
Personally I don’t care much for the games from Activision but if MS does make another huge acquisition, I really hope they buy Take Two Interactive.
@UltimateOtaku91 I know but try telling that to Col_McCafferty who thinks otherwise.
As for people commenting negatively about Phil Spencer, at least he engages with the gaming community and is a fellow gamer himself that is passionate about the gaming industry. The same can’t be said about Jim Ryan and others who are simply just businessmen in suits that only care about sales and money.
I really can’t see Sony releasing day one exclusives as it wouldn’t make sense seeing as most of their exclusives are third person action adventure single player games that can be done and dusted over a weekend. As well as being far and few between releases, there would be no reason to keep the subscription when there isn’t any multiplayer to keep you engaged.
I do expect Sony to bring third party games to the service day one for a certain amount of time before it leaves then Sony making more deals to bring other third party games, just like how Game Pass works when they rotate games by having some leave while new games get added to replace them.
They can fork out nearly 13 billion but won’t green light a new GTA or Max Payne which would sell so much, even a Max Payne remake/remaster would do well. They couldn’t give a stuff about the IPs under their belt unless it’s something like GTA Online that constantly keeps on making them money. I understand they are in the money making business but this just screams of greed while not caring about anything else.
NFTs are disgusting, an absolute cancer to the gaming industry right now. I really hope it doesn’t catch on. It’s up to us to let the developers and publishers know our feelings towards NFTs. We’ve already saw GSC Game World back down after announcing NFTs for Stalker 2.
Also gotta say the comment sections on this site will be a little better now without 🤴☕️
If there even is an E3 show this year it’ll most likely just be a pre-recording with maybe one lone presenter and devs using Zoom showing and explaining their games.

Re: Xbox Boss Reacts to PS Plus, PS Now Rumours, Says It's the 'Right Answer'
@UltimateOtaku91 I know but try telling that to Col_McCafferty who thinks otherwise.
As for people commenting negatively about Phil Spencer, at least he engages with the gaming community and is a fellow gamer himself that is passionate about the gaming industry. The same can’t be said about Jim Ryan and others who are simply just businessmen in suits that only care about sales and money.
Re: Xbox Boss Reacts to PS Plus, PS Now Rumours, Says It's the 'Right Answer'
@Col_McCafferty Yeah both God of War and The Last of Us Part II can be finished within even a day.
Re: Xbox Boss Reacts to PS Plus, PS Now Rumours, Says It's the 'Right Answer'
I really can’t see Sony releasing day one exclusives as it wouldn’t make sense seeing as most of their exclusives are third person action adventure single player games that can be done and dusted over a weekend. As well as being far and few between releases, there would be no reason to keep the subscription when there isn’t any multiplayer to keep you engaged.
I do expect Sony to bring third party games to the service day one for a certain amount of time before it leaves then Sony making more deals to bring other third party games, just like how Game Pass works when they rotate games by having some leave while new games get added to replace them.
Re: GTA Publisher Acquires Mobile Giant Zynga for $12.7 Billion
They can fork out nearly 13 billion but won’t green light a new GTA or Max Payne which would sell so much, even a Max Payne remake/remaster would do well. They couldn’t give a stuff about the IPs under their belt unless it’s something like GTA Online that constantly keeps on making them money. I understand they are in the money making business but this just screams of greed while not caring about anything else.
Re: Konami Pisses Everyone Off for Castlevania's 35th Anniversary
NFTs are disgusting, an absolute cancer to the gaming industry right now. I really hope it doesn’t catch on. It’s up to us to let the developers and publishers know our feelings towards NFTs. We’ve already saw GSC Game World back down after announcing NFTs for Stalker 2.
Also gotta say the comment sections on this site will be a little better now without 🤴☕️
Re: E3 2022 Won't Be Held in Person, Online Show Not Confirmed Yet
If there even is an E3 show this year it’ll most likely just be a pre-recording with maybe one lone presenter and devs using Zoom showing and explaining their games.
Re: GTA Online Weekly Update: 23rd December, 2021
