After delivering our incredibly comprehensive PlayStation 4 review of Mass Effect Legendary Edition this past weekend, it's time to share your own thoughts on the vast collection. The game has been out for more than two weeks now, giving users lots of time to at least complete the first entry in the saga — no matter whether they're newcomers or veterans. It is the instalment that received the most love and attention during development, but both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 still more than hold up today.
In our 9/10 review of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, we call it the sort of remaster this trilogy deserves. "Playing these games back-to-back showcases the immensely impressive scope of BioWare's series — an ambitious project the likes of which we haven't seen since. In some ways, all three titles are showing their age — but excellent character writing and exceptional world building make this a timeless trilogy. An emotional and truly memorable experience, from start to finish."
What do you think, however? Is Mass Effect Legendary Edition a worthy remaster of one of the PS3 generation's best franchises or were you left a little underwhelmed? Could BioWare have done more, perhaps? Place your vote in our poll and expand on your thoughts in the comments below.

9/10 for me due to a few sound issues.
I used to think ME2 was the best one but after replaying the Legendary Edition, ME1 easily takes the crown (especially with the updated gameplay).
Ok, who gave it a one? Show yourselves, demons!
Depends on how much the publishers are paying me
Gets a 10 from me. Some of the best games ever.
Emergency Induction Port/10
10/10 for the whole Trilogy, without doubt
9/10. ME1 was kind of tough to get through but overall a wonderful package. Well worth the 7+ year wait!
Absolutely not interested in these games. But much fun to those, who like it
10 - what an incredible experience. My first time playing the ME trilogy and I have been blown away. I now understand why Bioware was so highly praised as the characters in all 3 games became my family and walking around the ship chatting with all of them became some of my favorite moments throughout my 50+ hrs.
Neverplayedit/10
and probably won't ever...
It’s actually surprising how much better this looks and plays better than the originals
10/10 because i'm biased and they're 3 of my favourite games in gaming, LE just makes them even better.
10/10 because they matched how they look and play in my memory of them.
10/10 for me. I know they're slightly buggy and whatnot but it's never affected my enjoyment of what I think is the best story and characters in gaming.
I really couldn't ask for much more honestly. The only real reason I only give it a 9 out 10 is because of the missing ME3 MP. I really enjoyed that mode a lot and would love see it come back. If it does come back in a patch then this is a 10 easily.
Honestly, I’m digging it.
9/10 because the dolby digital sound is messed up in ME1 with all the speech coming out of the rear channels
I still found 1 kind of rough but is understandable as that's what started it all. So after almost Platinum all 3 ME2 is still my favorite with that excellent cast but 3 was allot better then I remembered, if it had a better finale it my have been tied with two.
@Jackpaza0508 I did. Ending kills the whole experience for me.
I got over the ending sometimes its about the journey not the destination
9/10 Arguably the best game trilogy ever. They did a good job with improving ME 1. It is close with 2, but probably my favorite of the series. Can’t wait to see where they take this franchise going forward. Andromeda was a misstep but not as bad as what it has been reported in my opinion.
Is ME3 ending optional (red, green, blue) as in ps3 version?
I'd have to give it a 10. I loved them when they came out, and now having them updated and all together makes it perfect for me. I can easily see the reasons for a 9, but for me it's just perfect.
I voted N/A because I don't give scores. They are a means to justify BS scores that are completely meaningless and mostly clickbait. The facts a score would be given without any method is even more proof of irrelevance.
ME LE could well be my GOTY.
The whole package just feels like a love letter to original fans. I'd give it 10/10. What was done to Mass Effect 1 really is above and beyond, all three games with all content improved... Definitely 10/10 in every sense of the word from me.
Always wanted to play it and never got round to it until this came out.
As a complete newcomer I am really glad to report I can see what all the fuss was about. An easy 9, the one thing letting the trilogy down is the boring driving around barren planets in 1.
I've heard people say in the past that they liked being able to explore in that manner despite the driving mechanics being bad. I can see why that might have been exciting when it came out but it just doesn't really hold up today.
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite site for Playstation news/reviews.
9/10 for ME1&2. 6/10 for ME3.
Jennifer Hale rulez.
I don’t enjoy the gameplay at all to be honest. Tried to like it but at the end I was forcing myself to go through it which is not the purpose of game, so I just dropped it.
I've put about 40hrs into ME1 and I've really enjoyed it but man the combat isn't great, the mako still doesn't handle that well, and inventory management is annoying. But still, 9/10 experience overall to me. I'm excited to move on to ME2 next.
Honestly, having played the Legendary Edition, but all the Mass Effect games prior to rerelease are 9/10s, perhaps bordering on 10/10s, so I said a 9/10. Since it came out, I’ve been tempted to pick it up and return to the series for one more run, but I just have a feeling I won’t be able to fully commit to it, and that’s a disservice to the trilogy. Maybe in the winter I’ll pick it up if we’ve got another winter drought.
@fR_eeBritney I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was always a ME1 > ME2 guy, but ME1's improved combat really makes ME2's dumbed down RPG elements disappointing (still a great game though).
Should be the benchmark for remastering a game.
ME3 ending still sucks. ME1 still feels dated, though it looks fantastic now. And ME2 is still my favorite game of all time. I wish ME3 had the multiplayer in it. That said, I loved playing through the trilogy again. I really hope ME4 fixes the ending for me. 9/10
Hi there fellow gamers.
Having played ME1 for 35 hours with Platinum and ME2 for 38 hours with platinum as well and having 11 hous of ME3, it has been a an absolute blast replaying this amazing trilogy.
ME1 is still my personal favourite, being a true rpg and the begining of Shepard and friends saga.
ME2 with the awesome Loyalty missions and the outstanding Suicide Mission.
And ME3 with the best combat and character banter form some of the most fantastic squad members to ever grace a game. Forget the "ending" and focus on the jorney. The Citadel dlc is just the sweet icing on the cake.
They all have issues and they are all great and unique.
Still is the best sci-fi, space opera videogame experience.
10/10 for the whole trilogy.
Cheers, stay safe, stay well and happy gaming to us all
I spent about 42 hours going for the plat on ME1. Haven't started ME2 as yet.
@darkswabber I thought it lacked cow bells.
Gave it an 8/10 , would have probably given it 9 or even 10/10 if they did a full remake with tighter controls and removed the stupid reaper alert and awful journal from ME3...
Easy 9. I don't judge a game based on an ending I judge it on gameplay, environments amongst other things.
9/10
Give it an 8, I think.
Gave it an 8, but on any other day I might've given it a 9; Honestly, considering remasters are typically limited with what they're able to do (as opposed to remakes) ME: LE is probably one of the best around, and that's mainly due to the improvements it makes to ME1's experience, smoothing over some of it's more glaring problems and making it a much more accessible title overall (which, given it's the first title, goes a long way to enjoyment of the trilogy as a whole).
If there's anything I'd feel could use some improvements, it'd prob be removing some of the leftover bugs still present (I found a couple during my playthrough of Feros which forced me to re-load a previous save), and then maybe include ME3's MP and some trilogy extras (e.g. music, gallery, etc) in the game select menu screen (It might've been nice to see some changes to ME2 and 3 as well, but within the scope of a remaster, I'm not sure what they could've changed).
I wish that the poll had more options on the high end. I would presume that a lot of people spend more than 25 hours on each of the three parts. I'm thinking that when I eventually get the game, I'll end up with over 150.
I think they've done a great job with the set. Could they of done more? Sure, but you know it was gonna have a budget and they wanted to remain true to the source. I love being able to play it at a higher res and frame rate. Probably not a big deal for the PC guys, but us console players it's much better.
After finishing the trilogy again, for me, as a whole, it’s a 6/10. Erase nostalgia and the gameplay is just so dated. Missions structure feels very two-gens-ago, which it is. Still very much enjoyed my play through, and a 6 isn’t a ‘bad’ score - but that’s how I’d rate the package as a whole.
Well I wouldve preferred a remake rather than a remaster so I suppose I have to keep my expectations in check. And they did remake some elements of ME1.
But I'm a bit disappointed by some performance issues on PS4 Pro and a number of glitches. But all in all it's definitely a decent remaster and not just a shameless moneygrab. I rate it somewhere between 7 and 8.
No remaster deserve more points than 7 in my opinion. If it was a remake, it would be totally different thing.
It's a ten all day. It's a ten just for Mass Effect 2.
8/10. Easy 9 if the good ol’ multiplayer action is added to Mass Effect 3. Loved that *****.
Game’s not without flaws but that nostalgia always kicks it up an extra notch.
@Unlucky13 Personally, I find I consitently finished the OG Bioware games at around 25 - 30hrs. Its a good length I think.
@Starkei Well, that's basically what I meant. If the average is 25 hours each, then 25 hour total seems like a small top end option.
I personally play games a lot slower than average, so my numbers generally are higher.
@Unlucky13 Ah yes, I guess legendary edition refers to the whole collected trilogy. Cool man, hope you enjoy em!
N/A: I haven't played the PS4 Trilogy yet, waiting for it to be $30 New or cheaper.
By then the game should be mostly patched and glitch free.
