Re: PS5 Price, Release Date Confirmed: 12th November in US, 19th in EU, $499 Standard, $399 Digital

About what I guessed price wise. I reckon that I have at least a years worth of stuff I still wanna play on PS4, so will wait until just before xmas 2021 (or even 2022), and hope for a decent price drop and a nice back catalog of cheaper games.

Also, I am surprised that it's releasing that close to xmas. Will this not create shortages if they have chip supply problems? Shame it isn't late October.

@Kienda Ok, thanks. I never really liked D2, although I was a long time D1 player, so I assumed (wrongly by the sound of it) that it wasn't that popular. Would be interesting to know what else they are working on though. Lotta people I know stopped playing D2 when they started resetting progress each season. I certainly wouldn't go back to it whilst that particular policy is in place; the whole point of live service games for me is permanent progress

Re: Reaction: Why Hasn't PS5's Price and Release Date Been Revealed Yet?

XurAgentofthe9

There are still other issues as well; there seems to still be confusion over backward compatibility, for example. No reviewers have had sight of the console in the flesh, yet it is set to come out in November? Can't see that happening tbh. If they don't launch before xmas, that has to effect sales, surely; MS will really have the jump on them.

Re: PS Plus Temporarily Discounted In USA, Europe

@Kienda Yeah, it's unfortunate that consoles are not like utiliity providers, and you can't shop around for a better deal elsewhere. They know that once you buy the console, you are a captive customer. I never understood how they got away with charging extra to play online, when we already pay for that via our internet providers; I suppose because we all let them get away with it

Re: Soapbox: Games As a Service Should Be Embraced, Not Misunderstood

XurAgentofthe9

I just go on reputation. If a developer has flooded a game with gambling boxes or produced poor value content in the past, I avoid their games. Also, I don't really buy games on launch, so if something sucks, I usually know from the reviews/players comments. I have nothing against service games per se though. I still play ESO

Re: No, the PS5 DualSense Controller Doesn't Have Buttons on the Back

XurAgentofthe9

shame, because it's not a difficult thing to add, for very little increase in cost. I use a Nacon controller on PS4, and it makes a huge difference for me over the basic DualShock. Just being able to map the 'run' action to a clicker rather than pushing down the stick means that it has lasted twice as long as any of my DS controllers, and still going strong. Got it in a sale for £58. Bargain!

Re: Rumour: Expensive PS5 Parts Could Force Sony to Set Price Point Above $450

XurAgentofthe9

I have been predicting a £500+ price for PS5 for a while. I can't see how they can cram all the features into it for a £350 level cost to consumers. It's interesting, because if you were in the market for a new PC, for example, and added £500 to what you were going to spend, you could get one that ran all the games that a PS5 would run. I'm getting on a bit now, lol, and may well end my console journey with PS4 anyway.
