Thing is, if Sony panic and buy up studios in order to keep up with Microsoft, this is what happens. Bungie don't come out of this looking good, I agree, but they didn't force Sony to do it.
I have played for a few hours and stopped because I already play Destiny 2, and it's a lot better than this imho, so I can't see the point. There is nothing terrible about TFD, and it's free, but I only have time for one of these type of games. I would give it 6/10.
Have been a Destiny player from day 1, and have to say that I am very impressed so far with this expansion. With the new campaign and the episode content, there is a lot going on in the game, and the new Prismatic class is a blast to play. Gotta hand it to Bungie on this one; a great job.
Lol, I got gjallahorn the first time I ran the dungeon in D1, many years ago. I agree with others comments about D2 though; never really liked it that much, and we sure found out that it wasn't Activision who were making the game 'less fun'
Lol, I stopped playing D2 because it's overly complicated (and a grindfest) so this comes as no surprise. A game with huge potential vs the mindset of it's devs. Such a shame.
In an ideal world where we didn't have games launching in the state that some of them do, many weren't massively over hyped, and where everyone had plenty of spare money to spend on full price games, then maybe. Perhaps some developers should spend more of their profits on ensuring that games are ready for release, and less on advertising.
My PS4 will be long gone before any of this happens. It already sounds like a squadron of fighter planes taking off. I was hoping to get a PS5 after it finally expires, but that is a bit of an unknown quantity as it stands
I liked the game, but can't see the point of buying it again when there are other, newer, games that I haven't played yet. I think that the only game I ever bought twice was Skyrim; played over 1000 hours, lol.
Very in depth review. Thanks. For me the non-proprietary SSD issue is what I will be waiting to see, as the on board drive space is woeful. As I have a sizeable backlog of PS4 games, I can afford to wait it out. lol.
I am one of those folks who finds games that they really like and plays them to death. I put about 2000 hours into both Oblivion and Skyrim, almost the same into Fallout 3. I also play live service games, so must have put enormous amounts of time into Destiny 1 & 2 and ESO. Am currently on my 4th character running through Dark Souls Remastered, which I picked up in the sale recently. So, yeah, I'm a serial replayer
@__jamiie Yes, I see that. On the other hand though, although it helps the console manufacturers, wouldn't it be better for game developers and gamers to make games for multiple platforms and sell/play more games? Anyhow, my main issue is that I wouldn't buy a 2nd console just to play an XBox exclusive game; even if I really wanted the game.
I have never agreed with exclusivity. Games should be available on all large platforms. This is the sort of thing that would make me less likely to ever buy an Xbox. Gamers never come first; always £$£$.
Surely nobody believes that EA are going to continue with this debacle any longer than necessary? It's an embarassment to them, and needs to be put out of it's misery.
Wow, I tried going back to D2 with Beyond Light and was bored with it after a month. I'm genuinely puzzled as to why anyone still plays it, and what they find to do other than mindless grinding, and re-levelling (again) every 3 months. I can't believe that Bungie get away with producing so little content. There are so many better games out there. Each to their own though, I guess.
Fair enough review under the circumstances. CDPR have let themselves down by releasing the game in that state. Mass Effect Andromeda, Fallout 76, now this; it's why I always wait for reviews before buying games now. A real shame
I think that when creators know that there will be a large number of pre orders and first day release buyers, then there can be an element of release it now, fix it later. Expectations aren't helped by the hype train, but I suspect that they are generally too high. For me there are now too many horror stories to pre-order new games, and I always wait for reviews from gaming sites and players. I do approve of the refund policy in the case of CP77 though; fair play.
I only have PS+ to play online. Wish they would offer a cheaper service to do only that; really not bothered about the games most of the time. Still find it shocking that they charge to play online at all!
I know that when one of my friends downloaded the latest update, he then couldn't get into party chat or game chat, is that still a thing? What can we not do that we could do before? Not sure I like the idea of Sony recording, or other players recording chat; all seems a bit Big Brother to me, if you don't like what someone is saying, mute them, kick them if that's an option, or leave the chat!
Was interested in Vampyr when it came out, but never bought it because reviews were mediocre. Will definitely give that one a go, but not really interested in NfSP. So, 1 out of 2 is just about a normal month for me
@PhhhCough This is the way to go with D2. I wish I had done it. Bungies model does not sit well with me, as it penalises dedicated players who have been with the game from day one. The season pass thing sucks as well tbh, lol.
"The market" is not an autonomous living thing, it is created and maintained by people. If the Covid crisis continues to get worse and the unemployment levels skyrocket, who knows what monetary value people will then place on leisure activities? Matt Piscatella is putting this soundbite out there in the hope that peple will take it at face value. We shall see.
Difficult one this! I would assume that, with this sort of money to throw around, MS are in pole position, but I agree that in the end it's about the games. One also mustn't forget that Bethesda was responsible for Fallout 76, for example; it's not like everything they touch turns to gold. On the other hand, one of the games I'm most looking forward to is ESVI, so this would make it a tough decision when the time comes to buy a new console. Oh dear!
I agree. It's a crazy amount of money imho. I have always waited for consoles and games to drop in price, and it has saved me a lot of money over the years. That way, I always see a good number of reviews as well. I mean, imagine spending nearly £80 on something like...Fallout 76!
About what I guessed price wise. I reckon that I have at least a years worth of stuff I still wanna play on PS4, so will wait until just before xmas 2021 (or even 2022), and hope for a decent price drop and a nice back catalog of cheaper games.
Also, I am surprised that it's releasing that close to xmas. Will this not create shortages if they have chip supply problems? Shame it isn't late October.
@Kienda I might give it another look at some point then, although I'm gonna be a fair way behind on the expansions, lol. I have a few other games I want to get through first though. The one thing I do miss, and Bungie really nailed, is the combat mechanic; very satisfying
@Kienda Ok, thanks. I never really liked D2, although I was a long time D1 player, so I assumed (wrongly by the sound of it) that it wasn't that popular. Would be interesting to know what else they are working on though. Lotta people I know stopped playing D2 when they started resetting progress each season. I certainly wouldn't go back to it whilst that particular policy is in place; the whole point of live service games for me is permanent progress
What do Bungie do apart from Destiny? Do they have any other games (I know about Halo, but that's pretty old). They seem to be a one trick pony at the minute, and D2 isn't exactly the worlds most popular game.
There are still other issues as well; there seems to still be confusion over backward compatibility, for example. No reviewers have had sight of the console in the flesh, yet it is set to come out in November? Can't see that happening tbh. If they don't launch before xmas, that has to effect sales, surely; MS will really have the jump on them.
I never buy consoles on release; always wait for a price drop, but if I were to buy on release, I would go £400 tops. Tbh though, I think that I still have a couple of years worth of PS4 stuff to do, lol.
@Kienda Yeah, it's unfortunate that consoles are not like utiliity providers, and you can't shop around for a better deal elsewhere. They know that once you buy the console, you are a captive customer. I never understood how they got away with charging extra to play online, when we already pay for that via our internet providers; I suppose because we all let them get away with it

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?
No. Nothing wrong with my current PS5, and price is way too high for me.

Not great tbh, but I don't really expect much; just subscibe for online play.

Pretty good month for me tbh!
Re: Rumour: PS Plus June 2021 Line-Up Leaked Ahead of Time
Ok I suppose. Never liked those fighter games at all, but the Star Wars one looks good. I would give this month 6/10, lol.
Re: Poll: Did You Buy Mass Effect Legendary Edition?
Played a couple of them way back, but really want to concentrate on other games at the moment. Might pick it up some time in the future though.

Re: Poll: Is PlayStation Plus Video Pass the Right Way to Expand PS Plus?
No, I would rather they kept the monthly games at a high standard.

Where can you buy a PS5? Apart from scalpers? What a joke Sony.
