@Jireland92 My tinfoil hat theory is that they're redoing the canon, and the V in Veronica is a 5, similar to what they've been doing in RE Engine Resident Evils since VII. Resident Evil Veronica would be RE5 in the new canon.

Code Veronica was my 2nd favourite of all the original games - just behind RE2. So happy to see the rumours confirmed that it is next.

Anyone else feeling like this will be a first-person remake? This trailer seems to be preparing us for that. Although, they may include third person like they did in Requiem… I love the first-person games. Grace’s gameplay in Requiem was next level.

@Jireland92 Yes. It is somewhat odd. They seem to be passing the game as a kind of RE V (5).
Same naming convention from Village and Requiem.
But surely they will still call RE5 a remake when that comes out. Unless they decide to veer from the co-op entries.
They can also just remake RE5 in such a way to be quite different and call it RE VI... and we all forget RE6 happened. 😂

@ear__wig It will totally have 3rd person. It's hard to say if the first person is something they will offer or if it was just to keep the revelation a mystery until the end.

Even with all the rumors I was still slightly concerned Code Veronica might not be the next remake, happy it's confirmed, shoots right to the top of my most-wanted list.

Part of me is sad that the scene with Claire storming Umbrella HQ is not gonna be a thing any more, but i understand why.
Also, is that Hunk? Here i thought Ada killed him for the G virus sample. Haha...

I'm not liking how it was shown off in first person. If that's the only perspective available, it'll be a hard pass. I'd much rather they stick to the 2/3 remake approach, those were perfect.

@Icey664 I agree. Though CV did actually have a first person mode so it's annoyingly possible they'll do the whole thing first person this time.

Capcom has been hiding numbers into the titles for years. Could this be the new Resident Evil 5 with the V in Veronica? The opportunity is definitely there.

@Icey664 I feel quite confident it will be a third person game. I imagine this is probably just some prologue part where you play a little bit in first person, then it opens up into third person for the rest of the game.

I imagine that Capcom have decided to make this the 5th game in the series, the 6th remake could be the 5th game, that was a great game and the setting was awesome. Then when it comes to the remake of the actual 6th game, well, I don’t know really. I didn’t like it, so I would be happy to forget that ever happened. But the game certainly has its fans and I wouldn’t like to see them miss out on a proper remake.

Did they used different model for Claire cause that doesn't look like her RE2 remake model.

But it looks great though and quite surprised they added Hunk to the story.

Can't wait to be back on Rockfort and Antarctica all over again in glorious PS5 graphics. I'm assuming they've learned their lessons from the RE3 remake by now. I mean don't mind at all when remakes changes things up a little here and there mostly for the better sometimes but cutting out almost half the games content won't be the one. Tricky Bandersnatchers, fighting Tyrant on aeroplane just randomly thinking off top of my head what those parts be like on a remake. Fingers crossed

I had a Japanese Dreamcast, and Code Veronica is one of my all time favorite games of all time. Such a great game.

@Locksley I’m really hoping not. I can’t imagine they would. If I remember correctly, they showed the first trailer for 2 remake in the same style, which was clearly only for the trailer.

@RatmCky Oh ok, I didn’t know that about the trailer for 2 remake. I can’t imagine they would either, especially since 2, 3 and 4 remakes are all third person.

Hunk capturing Claire is a great idea rather than her storming a Umbrella facility and getting caught. Bravo Capcom. Can't wait for this game.

I think it was shown in first person so you didn't see Claire right off the bat. Cause you would have known is was RE right away. That said, they'll probably have 1st and 3rd person like RE9

@Icey664 Yeah, it was just for a mode called Battle Mode but there was a cheat code to enable it for the main game too. They really wanted to show off that it was the first fully 3D RE.

But with RE 9 success, i think the 1st and 3rd person camera will be standard for every new RE games.

Code Veronica is the RE most in need of a remake. Glad they held of on RE Zero for this one.

@PuppetMaster I wondered the same thing watching the trailer but don’t think we get a clear enough picture to say for sure.
I’m hoping that they have just tweaked it maybe and still is the same look/voice from RE2R for continuity.

@BearsEatBeets At one screenshot, it looks like similar to her RE2 remake model. But at other screenshots feels like a completely different model. But yeah, we need more screenshots and i hope it still the same model/VA.

@PuppetMaster having just rewatched the trailer again the shot of her face just after the full title reveal makes me think it is still the same model. Just more high quality as the engine has been improved.

Due to the sync issues during the stream I only just caught the boulder joke. I would have known it was RE a bit earlier if I caught that. Although if they eventually decide to remake 5 I hope they remove that stupid scene.

You blew my mind with your theory. This could explain why they released a remake of "4" before Code Veronica, even though Code Veronica was an older game and in more desperate need of a remake
