Re: Review: Destiny 2: Forsaken (PS4)

@Ypmud Isn't that the issue though; Bungie knew what kind of game players were expecting at launch and failed to deliver, then spent the next year making players pay for expansions to get the game back to where D1 was. Not good imo.

I agree that D1 was of it's time, and that that time has kind of passed. I also don't like Bungie's business model, as you say, if you tot up the total possible spend, it's somewhere IRO £160; no game is worth that IMO.
I do have one question though, have they brought back individual rolls on weapons? This, for me, is where they went drastically wrong in comaprison to D1, the only point in grinding games is to get better gear than the next guy, surely. Until they do it, I won't even think about spending any more £ on it, and then probably not anyway, lol.

Re: Sony Won't Allow Fortnite Cross-Play Because It Believes That PS4 Offers the Best Experience

I don't care about Fortnite and wouldn't play it on any platform. The statement from Sony is just marketing speak to be honest, and has no bearing on whether or not they will actually allow crossplay at some point (they will if it is financially expedient). I would describe my experience of most multi-player games as toxic, and so the idea of not adding another x thousand swingers to the equation is a positive one for me. Happy days

Sarcasm and my screen name aside, I loved Destiny, but really don't like Destiny 2. To me, Bungie betrayed the faithful with D2 by making a dull, generic game for casuals. Fair enough, it's their game, but I won't be buying any more DLC or downloading any patches.

Re: Soapbox: The Elder Scrolls Online Is an Underappreciated RPG Experience on PS4

It's funny, a couple of years ago this site, and many others, were predicting the death of single player games; now it seem like anything but. Many gamers are bored with MMOs, because they are unimaginative, and if you want to play any kind of endgame, you are stuck with the same "git gud" bozo mentality that most sane people are desperate to escape from (like, if I wanted to join the army I would join the army). Other than that, most MMOs are just a boring grind. ESO is one of the better ones to be fair, but it's not great.

I agree that if you just treat it as an solo RPG then it's an ok game. The problems it has are the same as all other MMO games though; end game content and the toxicity that it engenders. If I wanted more macho BS in my life I would just go out more; as it is, I see enough of it IRL, and I play games to escape that kind of thing, so it doesn't appeal to me. You know the sort of thing "if you don't have xxxx DPS we won't play with you or help you". Life's too short. Other that that it's a good game, and, to me anyway, an appetiser for the next proper ES game.

I'm surprised about the base building; didn't get on with it at all in F4. It's funny that you mentioned Destiny 2, as it seems that a lot of upcoming games are now at pains to talk about how they will NOT be like Destiny 2; I wonder why that is?

Re: Soapbox: E3 2018 Demonstrates the Disconnect Between Gamer Demands and Development Realities

It's just impatience frankly. These games obviously take time, whilst developers still need to be seen to be relevant; thus early announcements. There are plenty of AAA games around at the moment, and most of the future games discussed here will be for PS5, or whatever, so perhaps we all need to chill out and enjoy what the current gen has to offer and let the future take care of itself.
