Now when can we preorder
Yaaaaaaaas at last. Its a win
YES!!!!!! I DON'T HAVE TO SELL MY LUNGS FOR THIS!
Ragnarok is coming!
Let me give you my money Sony!!!
Pretty solid price-points, gonna be spicy competition in the fall!
Small typo Chief. Says 19 & 19. Should be 12 & 19.
All digital edition for me 🙂✌🏽
19th UK why why why as so any gamers in the UK.
Never mind greatness comes to people who wait and ai.
My birthday...my present
I show the money, time to preorder
FF 16 right at the start as a console exclusive (timed?). That blew my mind. And the rest, I don't even know where to start.
Best showcase since the FF7 Remake reveal.
EDIT: Possibly timed. The small print at the end of this trailer: https://twitter.com/SquareEnix/status/1306323731568947200?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
Happy days, demon souls looks bloody tasty doesnt it?!
£449 for UK with disc drive. That’s me happy 😊 - day one purchase if possible!
Thank you, I'll take ten.
Either that is one expensive bluray drive or the physical edition buyers are subsidizing the digital edition.
I’ll stick with my PS4
£50 cheaper than I thought it was going to be, but eh, still not cheap enough for me at present. Will wait.
@kyleforrester87 I was refreshing Amazon just in case it was going to pop up. Give it to meeeee!
@Kirbyboy92 Not when they see the price of the Seagate memory cards
£449 Disc Edition UK
£359 Digital Edition UK
£450 is pretty big step up from the PS4.
£449 well priced. Will I get one at launch probably not, god of war 2 though, I’m in.
Nailed it with my guess on the prices. Well £10 out on the digital.
I had £449 and £349 as my prediction.
I knew the UK would be getting it later. £359 is tempting
@Cromwell Everyone with a brain does for the next 1 to 2 years.
Day one if I can lock in a pre-order.!
I'm happy with those prices
£50 cheaper and it would’ve been day one for me.
I wasn’t expecting it to be that cheap but I’ll be waiting for a price drop.
Only had my PS4 a few months and there’s not many games at launch so no hardship
Standard model for me. $500 is a little more than I prefer to spend on a home console but I do prefer physical media so I'll pay the price.
Prices as expected. I think too many went into that expecting some huge game-related revelations. This one was a refresher course and a price reveal.
N.i.c.e. one two kratos is coming for Microsoft.3. 4 this game is gonna legendary.5. 6. Get your axe.7 .8 atreus dont stay up late.that was a amazing show.word up son
@badbob001 Or you are financing Sony with digital only no value in your library with no trade in no other options ill gladly pay the extra.
I might go digital for my son and disc for me. Then again, we're both gamers so the 2 for 1 model of digital only has always been a huge financial benefit.
I'm satisfied with those prices. I'm almost certain that the digital edition was originally going to be $50 more than that but Microsoft happen so they reduced it to $400.
Yeah that was a great showcase.spiderman looks amazing!
Price is, fine too. I'll hold off for a year at least. Have a massive backlog to get through.
@Flaming_Kaiser great point. Trade-ins have always financed my newer titles.
@SterlingEyes could trade it in and buy the PS5?
No surprises here lol, still $399 for ps5 is still much better then The XSX at $299, will be getting the disc edition though, maybe not on launch day
@kyleforrester87
November 5th 🙄😂
Digital for me, easy choice at that price
£450 is a lot of money. I can't see myself purchasing it Day 1.
Digital for me THEN the disc version 3-4 years from now when the PRO PS5 inevitably launches. At that point there will be more used disc games.
Price is very good for me! Going full standard! Looking forward to launch titles and what we have with ps now and ps plus info as currently full year subscriptions on both!😵
How big is the hard drive for the digital only edition?
Called it, The price is perfect. It's gonna sell like hotcakes in Asia, especially the Digital version
Was gonna hold off for a year, but both prices are mighty tempting. But huge backlog, but shiny new machine. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤔🤔🤔🤔
There's only one thing that I'm buying on the 19th November.
Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4.
Called both prices yesterday
Also, it is SUPER STUPID to have two different dates and as always Europe gets **** on but oh well...
What confuses me is these comparisons between Series S and Digital edition. When a comparison should be Digital edition vs Series X. If you are buying digitally anyway, that is 100 USD less for same game quality.
Realistically Series S is not really a contender, it's cheaper but far less powerful, it's Wii U of last generation.
Very cool. I wonder if we'll get a PS5 Slim All-Digital edition eventually for an even lower price?
Stick with ps4. No more sequels
@AFCC I'm pretty sure it's because of Covid-19, I'm pretty sure they original plan is for it is to go Worldwide
i didn't understand the ps+ collection..you need ps+ to play your backlog?
So many people saying £449. The 99p makes it effectively £450, it always irks me when people only mention the left digits, I don't know why. 😂
Pretty much the price's I thought £449/£359 I had £399 for DE, great prices. Getting the disc version day one already have the money for it, cannot wait for Nov 19th.
FF XVI Console Exclusive*
*also on PC
So PCs are also consoles? Same confusion as Microsoft presentation...
Otherway I fell asleep after DMC5 and woke up on Demons Souls. Didn't missed anything important... Price is expectable.
Full standard edition for me, worth the extra for that Physical media baybeeee.
I can afford one! Whoo!
Yep... 3080/3070 bookmarks just got deleted (Still, Good luck tomorrow and next month for the PC crew)
Full focus on the disc version for me - try my hardest to get one. Even after tax I have more than enough saved up!
@Kidfried I travel across Asia for my work and this year truly is the weirdest for me. My friend who worked with got Covid from an Uber Eats driver and luckily he survived
@Kidfried It'd be really cool if the Slim is more petite like the Series S. Maybe in different colors, too. I can dream.
@Shepherd_Tallon - all the small print said was "available on pc".
Called the price along with about half the place back in June so no real surprise there. Well maybe for the other half. 😏
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2020/06/report_ps5s_price_could_be_usd50_cheaper_if_you_go_for_the_digital_edition
Have they announced PS4 Pro and Slim plans yet? 4 is a lot of consoles, and Pro at even $300 wouldn't look too good now. Slim can stick around for $199, always room in the market for a good deal.
Will be waiting unless Sony offers me 12 months at 0% on my Sony credit card which I mostly just use to buy stuff on the Switch eShop.
Twitter saying preorders could go live tomorrow at selected retailers
Not gonna get it day one but will try to as soon as I can for sure!
That Spider man gameplay was perfect
Why is the UK forced to wait a week? So much for a global release. That's not right at all.
And it's only a few months away.
Crazy times.
@Kidfried Maybe the Slim model won't have a popped collar. Even just a change in color would help tremendously, though.
Certainly not a price I'd expect to handle soon, even the digital one (and a bank loan, the thing that once boosted me towards owning a PS4 and a Switch within four months, would be a bad idea at the very least until Belarus gets its overdue new government plugged in... but realistically, even for a good while afterwards)... but it's not like I ever assumed otherwise. And my decision to buy it or not is still up in the air - judging by the lineup of Push Square reports here, it wasn't addressed today either.
A bit surprised FFXVI is going back to one console deal for its launch, but I guess two-digit XBO sales in Japan will do that to you. The PS+ bundle is neater news (and features some games that either we didn't have or I was too late to see distributed on PS4 itself), but again, it'll be pointless if they can't be streamed to a proper gaming device. AppleDroid peripheral contraptions don't count (sorry, Microsoft).
Will most likely go for the standard version. Works out really well for me as I've already got the 19th and the week after off work for Cyberpunk.
Did everything I wanted, showed games, matched price. But I'm still a little hesitant. My day one PS4 died after 2 years and my day one PS pro sounds like a rocket ship. I'm thinking I'm going to wait out the first couple of batches this time and let production to settle down before jumping. Nothing I need to play at launch. Cyberpunk 2077 will keep me covered me for 2 or 3 months.
MY WALLET AND BODY IS READY
4K TV must have 4K blu-ray player version!
£90 extra is exorbitant for a disc drive. unless there's some decent retailer bundles that make it more palatable, i'll probably skip it.. and wait til next year and go for the duty free option.
@leucocyte stand alone 4K HDR blu-ray players run $200 and up.
@eddie429 I was going by the small print at the end of the trailer in this tweet, but then again, it just says other platforms. It would be an amazing steal if it was fully exclusive to PS5 on console.
https://twitter.com/SquareEnix/status/1306323731568947200?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
Hmm I feel like this year it's more than ever about exclusives. Both camps (green and blue) look solid machine wise. Price is okay too. Now it's the question if you'd prefer god of war, bloodborne and gran turismo over gears of war, halo and forza (roughly speaking). I'm not so sure if it's clever or stupid of Microsoft to deliver their first party games on PC as well.
Still, to get into high-res gaming the prices are fair.
That said I'd always go fps over resolution. Wonder what Ninty will do with rumored Switch Pro.
Them game prices though! €20 increase for Europe!

$600 Digital & $750 Aussie dolleryroo's. Kind of tempting digital offering but still have ps4 discs & rather keep options open rather than get locked into the one eco system. Haven't caught up with the stream yet, but guessing no teardown on b/c mode, UI features etc. yet. Hope its sooner than later. Will be interesting to hear what the install sizes for next gen will be like too.
@BalsBigBrother Same!!! I really want it now but I'm really happy with the games I have on PS4 to finish up. If there was a must have title at the launch, I would really want to get it day 1 but I'm totally fine trying to get one after March when the Holiday demands settle. Plus they might have cooler titles lined up by then.
@JohnKarnes - yeah, but a standalone player come with all the additional gubbins required to make it operate, the actual disc unit itself is about $20-$25 in costs.
@Shepherd_Tallon - i guess it's possible. what surprised me is how much i liked it. i'm not a FF fan and the only one i really liked was #7 - but this one looks excellent to me.
Lovely jubbly! Sell my PS4 Pro for around £200-£250 now and upgrade to PS5 disc for only £200-£250!! PS4 Pro owned for 4 years ownership since launch at £349 which will work out £7.40 per month for PS4 Pro until upgrade to PS5 disc version at launch. Add in ps plus which works out £3 per month. Total £10.40 per month until 2024 for PS5 disc + ps plus. Woohoo! Cheaper than a netflix monthly subscription!
Shopto.net has been crashed since 10pm!
@eddie429 Agreed. I loved FF in the PS One era, especially 7 and 9, but moved away from it over the years.
I was hoping the next one would go back to a traditional fantasy setting and be a little more grown up, and this looks like it's going to deliver.
@Kefka2589
I don’t see it. I assume it’s a joke.
Ugh... Still roughly a $700 price tag for those of us in Canada for the standard version.
Preordered digital with extra controller, charging stand and the new headset. Although slightly worried about the storage space, although didn't they say PS5 games will take up a lot less space because of the technology involved with the custom SSD?
PlayStation 5 Launch Day Games from SIE Worldwide Studios
...So that means 80 euro is the regular price for a PS5 game!? F*ck you Sony!
@TheNewButler Already Sold Out... had one in my basket gone before i could register.
Game has pre orders up for sale now too
it was obvious sony would price the digital version $100 cheaper. sony wants the physical game sales to end as soon as possible and they will make gamers pay the price (literally) for it. it sure makes the digital sku much more tempting, but at the same time, it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. there is no way i am going to forfeit my ps4 physical collection (50+ games and counting), even if it means i wait 2 or 3 years before i pick up a ps5 disc edition at a more reasonable price. this will be the last generation with physical media. enjoy it while it lasts!
@zebric21 No. it's just for people who are new to the ecosystem and don't own any or some of the games. And if you already pay for a ps plus subscription, then u can play whatever they offer on that collection enhanced for free. You would also get an enhanced version for the games you bought, that is if the developer decided to give it for free.
@leucocyte sure for a blu ray drive but that far from a 4k blu ray drive. A internal 4K blu ray drive for a PC cost $160
Lucky I preordered asap. All preorders for both disc and digital are sold out already. This is in Australia through EB Games.
@Porco I don't think that is true at all. The best reference we have is music and movies both are far more dominated with digital outlets. Yet you can walk into many stores and still buy physical copies. Vinyl is even making a small comeback.
@Kefka2589
My bad. I saw preorders start tomorrow and couldn’t find the console at Walmart website.
Jesus, BestBuy lasted the time I sent a WhatsApp to my brother. Now even the page is gone.
This should not be done this way.
Only U$954 here in Brazil, Yay!
Day 379 for me!!! 😀 (Black Friday 2021)
@Kefka2589 Yeah, Sony totally lost control of this.
Will wait for a 350-400 canadian bucks bundle. Probably not going to be a thing before black friday 2023 lol.
Got the Queen but where can I get the games?
Never mind , Target has them in the US.
Whoot looks like i'll be able to get the full fat ps5 and whichever launch games too..not bothered about it having to be a day 1 purchase but defo a week 1 purchase..i factored a £500-£600 launch price so i'm golden..i really can't wait to watch my 4k marvel collection too and as a footnote there is no way sony will ever go 100% digital as they are an entertainment service as in movie producers, music producers etc so to alienate that customer base that do not have fast internet (and probably wont ever) would be stupid..a lot of people earn a wage where something like a ps5 and games would be a considered a luxurious purchase and would like to keep a physical manifestation of something they have worked towards..what if there was a irrevocable loss of tinternet? Would a system that is 100% dependant on that method of delivery succeed? No so for that reason and others i cannot see sony ever being totaly digital..
Why do they make their biggest market wait the longest?
I just cant get excited for this at all.
yeah I'm not pre-ordering. I mean it looks decent and all but especially the price hike in new games is something I'm not too happy about. Maybe an Xbox with gamepass is a better value at this point. I'll just calmly wait to see how things play out next year. I'm sure the stock will be replenished if and when I'm interested in a PS5.
I got an Email from Smyths Toys 1 hour after the event finished
Ps5 Pre-ordered
Oh, Amazon Pre-orders are live now (9:00am)
Argos pre-orders are live Friday
@Dodoo My thoughts exactly, Jim Ryan the President and CEO of Playstation was BORN IN THE UK................ But we have to wait till the 19th November?
@LPB We have been paying over the odds for video games in the UK for over a decade, Its about time the rest of the world started coughing up the money
you should make an article on this:
Where is the PS5's UI and the expansion slot for storage?
That is going to be the first day one console purchase for me, with the disc drive
Amazon UK seemed to only have the disc edition. I don't mind too much but would have preferred the digital edition. I was 99% sure I wasn't going to get one, but Demon Souls being the only launch title which seems not to be coming to PS4 pushed me over the edge.
I was so happy about the price reveals last night and it was going to be a day 1 purchase for me... until I woke up this morning only to see that I’ve been screwed by my country again. So instead of $399 for the DE, it’s $599... and $799 for the disc version. Really!?
Got a disk edition pre-ordered through Amazon for the 19th, still kinda hoping to get a pre-order through John Lewis as their after-sales support is second to none, in which case I'll cancel the Amazon order. Wonder how many others will be doing similar with regards to offering where they can buy having a preferred retailer in mind?
Nice, pretty sure Game.co.uk are being anti-consumer, since they announced the pre-orders for PS5, it was impossible to log in to your account and get your 1-4% cashback on console sales, you could only purchase PS5 as a guest, now they have sole out, I bet you it comes online soon.
About what I guessed price wise. I reckon that I have at least a years worth of stuff I still wanna play on PS4, so will wait until just before xmas 2021 (or even 2022), and hope for a decent price drop and a nice back catalog of cheaper games.
Also, I am surprised that it's releasing that close to xmas. Will this not create shortages if they have chip supply problems? Shame it isn't late October.
Just wanted to find out if any tv apps have been announced yet?
£450 not bad price but it's going to be supply and demand to get a console on launch, that is the main problems many will face.
Will the ps4 pro and slim PS4 get price drops I wonder because a pro is still £350 in the UK and a ps5 doesn't cost that much more than it so some pricing needs adjusting honestly
If backwards compatibility is available via the disc drive, that’s the one for me. If not, I’ll save $100 and opt for the digital only deck.
@JohnKarnes - the difference in production costs between the two models is reportedly about $22.
@Northern_munkey I bought Michael Jackson’s Thriller on album...then cassette...then cd...then ripped the cd to mp3s and put ‘em on a data disc...then moved ‘em to a flash drive...then my wife bought the tracks again on her iPhone. What’s the point? The only constant is change.
Physical media will likely disappear. It’s just a question of when. Eliminating physical media saves on manufacturing and distribution costs, and it gets the game into players’ hands nearly instantaneously. As soon as the files are uploaded onto the PSN site, money can be made and it goes directly to Sony—with no middle men taking a cut of the profits. Digital direct-to-consumer sales HUGELY boost Sony’s (and other developers’) profit potential.
@HellOfaHunter hmmm, I reckon this must have removable/changeable sides as suspected and that’s how you access the storage expansion...
Given the launch lineup is not that many games tbh and I own or played most “ps collection” games, then add in $70 for first party games, looks like I’m waiting for PS5 PRO - the pricing is fine but Id rather Jump in when I can get 5-10 PS5 games for $30-$40 on sale. Plus these big games are also coming to PS4 for the most part it seems
@Northern_munkey If your PS is activated as your primary and you have all your games on a large HDD or SSD internet loss wouldn't affect anything. When I got a ps4 pro i sold my ps4 to my cousin, he left it on offline mode and was able to play all my game that were on system for like 8 months till he got it online and then it authenticated and wouldn't let him keep playing
They dropped the ball on the pre orders! What happen to "ample time to pre order" they gave us 2 seconds. And what was the point in signing up for notification? Im highly upset and pissed! Ive waited for months to get this console and now i don't know if I'll be able to get one at all! Thanks Sony!!
@jgrangervikings1 the point i was making was that not everywhere has great internet and not everybody wants everything digital and companys like sony will know this and will probably never go 100% digital..its about choice hence 2 versions of the console..nothing is set in stone and i'm not saying i'm right either its just i dont think it will happen anytime soon..
@Hazadokun i was painting a worse case scenario if in the event there was a world wide outage of the interweb as in no internet ever..kaput..finito..gone forever then what good would it be if all your entertainment was all digitally based? Maybe my sense of humour is a bit too sophistocated?
Amazon preorders are gone already 😡😡😡😡
@Northern_munkey if this "worse case scenario" really happened... playing games would be the lesser concern for you and everyone else.
@Cyrus29 do you really need that? Most smart TVs have this, I hate that the UI is cluttered with TV apps I never will use, I hope this time we can remove them all.
@Dodoo Sony do treat the EU and UK with discontent 😡
@Porco sad but true, I'm already 70% digital now but still want the disc drive when I do buy disc games.
@Northern_munkey uh sure sophisticated... I’m certain thats how unfunny people sleep better at night lol only way internet goes out worldwide for an extended / infinite time is all out nuclear warfare - I’d be worried about a lot more than my entertainment
Waiting for the exclusive GoW edition hopefully. Will be the disc version to play my movies.
@huyi I meant for the sky go app. I watch my sky channels on the PS4 Pro & one s in bedroom. It’s more convenient doing that then paying for sky multi room.
@Wake13 it's just sad! Europe is a huge market. At least we get it with Cyberpunk!
@leucocyte With the data transfer difference and other thing in the drives i find that hard to believe. Where can one find this info? google has been zero help for me other than transfer rates and other internal upgrades.
Best showcase ever...but the prices and release date being reasonable definitely won me over.
@KathyQ Because in that week, reviews spoilers etc will be rife online so by the time UK actually gets to play it, everything will be spoiled. So it's a big impact actually. Merely avoiding going on certain pages won't work either as they will force that crap into advertising.
