How’s this game on base PS5 now? Have they improved technical performance since launch?

Can’t stop playing Ghost of Yōtei! I love this game. Around 35 hours in, and have still only killed one of the Yōtei six - The Snake - who you kill at the start of the game 😂 I just keep getting sidetracked. Have now unlocked all melee weapons. By the time I do get to kill the rest of the Yōtei six I should be fully armed and ready 💪👊

So can you buy the directors cut of DS1 to take advantage of the PS5 graphics, but can then use power saver mode to revert back to PS4 graphics, or worse 🙃

I’ve had a bug where the game won’t let me play anything else…because I can’t get enough of GoY 😂

Mostly playing Ghost of Yōtei, which i absolutely love. Great mix of combat and world exploration. I love the way many of the side quests unfold, which feel more organic than most open world games. And the game looks gorgeous 😍 even on base PS5. This is seriously a GOTY contender for me!

The only reason the internet should be required for single player games is for updating/patches, not to simply play the game!

Who handled the upgrade then? I thought Mimimi were no more? 🤔

I dropped down from premium to essential earlier in the year. Ngl, this is the first time since that they’ve added a game I would have played - Silent Hill 2. Oh well, another year or so and it will be on essential 😂

I’m surprised they’re not aiming for a 2028/2029 release, given that the PS5 had significant availability problems during Covid. And even if the next Xbox is slightly more powerful than PS6 I don’t think it will make much difference, given that the Series X is slightly more powerful than the PS5.

Only Ghost of Yōtei for me, which is already installed and ready to go! Still busy with Borderlands 4 and Hades 2, so those coupled with GoY should keep me busy for a while 😀

Have preloads started yet and what is the install size on base PS5?

Not really much difference to the character models in Kojima’s own Death stranding 2, which were already hugely impressive.

I’ve nearly bought it a few times, especially when AC Shadows came out, but ultimately always decided against it. The only game likely to change my mind now will be GTA 6.

Have they released details re graphics modes yet? Is there the usual performance/fidelity (60/30fps) modes?

Seeing as I preordered AC Shadows I’ll be getting this for free, so will definitely play it at some point. I don’t want to play it this close to Ghōst of Yotei though.

I can’t see many people turning this feature on. Unless Greta Thunberg takes up gaming 😂

As much as I’m looking forward to this, I hope they don’t charge full price (£/$70) for it, and instead give it a price tag more akin to Mafia the old country.

No time right now! Currently playing Borderlands 4, Hades 2 next week, then Ghost of Yotei the week after! It could be a while 😂

One of the reasons why I bought a Switch 2. Loved the first Hades, can’t wait for the sequel!

I’ll be honest, I can’t remember 😂 it was either at launch, or very soon after. I would have been in my mid-20s. I was always a sucker for racing games, so games like Ridge racer and Wipeout were a dream for me. The game changer though was Gran Turismo - when that came along I was like WOW!

It makes sense. Physical sales are continually going down, and the PS6 is still a few years away yet. Currently I’d say my purchases are around 70% digital, with a lot of that coming from sales. At least Sony are giving us the option, otherwise there’d be uproar.

Someone on social media said that Rockstar always delay their games twice. We’ve had one delay, so wouldn’t be at all surprised if it gets delayed to Sep/Oct 2026.

Makes you wonder if they will implement this for all 18 rated games, even single player titles 🤔

Anyone played solo? How is it?

@Elodin yes it can totally be played solo - that’s what I did. Saying that, you will see other players running around, especially in town areas, but I simply ignored them 😂 the map is pretty big and there’s plenty to do. My only gripe was that you can unlock special skills for in combat, but they always felt underwhelming to me. They may have improved them by now though, as the game was - and probably still is - getting updated regularly. I actually bought the game outright and thought it was money well spent, so to play it for free on PS+ extra is a complete no-brainer.

It’s a pretty good selection, but the ones I would have been interested in I’ve already played - Cyberpunk, Banishers and New World Aeternum.

Only played around 16-17 hours, so have a long way to go yet. Saying that, I loved the first game and so far DS2 does everything better, so with that in mind I’ve given it a 9/10. This could easily become 10/10 though as I get deeper into the game. Just taking my sweet time with it.

I’ve been a PS+ subscriber since its inception. I would definitely say there’s room for improvement. For the last 2 years I’ve been on the “premium” tier, but literally just last weekend my annual renewal was due, and I decided to drop down to “essential”. Now my PS+ homepage is plastered with ads asking me to upgrade 😂

I loaded the game up over the weekend, just to play around in the open world in anticipation of this forthcoming update. Hopefully it won’t be delayed too long. I’m dying to know what’s in it though 🤔

I’m glad cargo deliveries are still the main focal point of the game. This was easily my favourite part of the first game - navigating desolate environments and reaching your destination never felt so rewarding. I was worried this sequel would place more emphasis on combat. Can’t wait to play this!

I have Premium but it’s runs out the end of this month. Have to admit that the games aren’t really worth the Premium price, but I often try out game trials, so not sure whether to renew or not 🤔 it’s very anti-consumer for Sony to lock trials behind the most expensive PS+ tier, but I guess they need another reason to justify the price 🙄

I picked this up a few days ago and am enjoying it so far, but I agree that the camera angle is too high. Glad the devs are going to fix this soon.

It’s a great game and I’ve completed it twice, but once you’ve finished the campaign there really isn’t a lot to do. It would be great if they can find a way to include an endgame of some kind. As it stands there’s not even NG+ 🙁

I wouldn't be surprised if this actually happens now, as Rockstar try to appease people after the new delay to GTA 6. Also wouldn’t be surprised if, like the GTA 6 trailer 2, they shadow drop it.

So if your TV doesn’t support 120hz, and you’re playing on base PS5 in performance mode - you’re better off with the BC PS4 version over the PS5 remaster? 🤔
