The Crew 2 Will Be Playable for 'Years to Come' with New Fan Demanded Offline Mode 1

The Crew has been at the centre of a storm for many, many years now, with the first game’s server shutdown ultimately leading to the Stop Killing Games campaign.

While the original release could be played solo, it required an Internet connection in order to be enjoyed. Hence, when its servers were shutdown, it rendered the entire release unplayable.

Ubisoft, to its credit, heard the feedback loud and clear, and promised to add an offline option to The Crew 2 so this wouldn’t occur again.

And that update is available right now on the PS4.

Ivory Tower, the series’ dev, is describing this as a Hybrid Mode, which allows you to switch between online and offline play.

Obviously, there are no plans to shutdown The Crews 2’s servers any time soon, but this leg work will ensure the game remains playable long into the future regardless.

Here’s what the publisher says:

“Thanks to player feedback, a new hybrid mode allowing both online and offline play is now available. This marks a major milestone in ensuring the game’s longevity, keeping it accessible for years to come.”

So, there you have it – your copy of The Crew 2 will officially have a long life span.

It’s a nice acknowledgement from Ubisoft that it made a mistake with the previous game, and to the company’s credit, it’s put in the work to ensure this issue doesn’t occur again.
