Starting to feel a little burnt out now on Stellar Blade, so have decided to ignore side quests and concentrate on the main story. Have just been effectively given the “point of no return” notification so I guess I’m on the home straight. Also dusted off my Switch this week so I can play Paper Mario TTYD which is great fun so far.
I’m curious as to how this infinity “hub” is going to work. Considering the size of many AC games they don’t expect you to have several installed simultaneously to get any hub benefits? 🤔
It’s probably because the game is too big to fit on a disc, so you’ll have to download a portion of it. It’s not like it requires a constant online connection, like in Top Spin 2K25.
Mine is due for renewal in June, and I’m seriously thinking of just letting it lapse. Very rarely play online, and only the occasional game on PS+ extra that actually interests me. Considering how expensive it is now for a year I can’t help feeling I’d be better off buying games in sales instead.
Thoroughly enjoying Stellar Blade, it’s way more fun than I was expecting and the combat is really satisfying. Can’t believe I sat on the fence for a week before deciding to buy it 😂 I’m around 15 hours in, and currently exploring the wasteland. Considering this is Shift up’s first console game I’m surprised at just how polished it is. I also like all the little touches, like when scanning underwater it changes to a sonar sound, or how Eve poses to the camera when you find a can.
Good to know, thanks. It’s been quite a while since I’ve played Destiny 2. I remember the gun play being great, but last time I hopped back in I felt overwhelmed with all the currencies, game mechanics etc.
What has no doubt compounded the problem is that as games get bigger - in terms of budgets, graphics etc - then development cycles get longer. Therefore the gap in releases from every Sony first party studio gets longer and longer.
After sitting on the fence, I finally caved and bought Stellar blade, which came yesterday. Played an hour or so last night and it seems like a lot of fun, with great combat mechanics. Will get proper stuck into it over the (bank holiday) weekend. Also playing Dave the diver, Dragons Dogma 2, and last but not least Top Spin 2K25. Plenty of games to be getting on with! 🙂
@MrBook you’re not missing much. Same bloke winning all the time 🙄 this looks like F1 23.1 definitely not paying £70 for this. Codemasters really need a new graphics engine - Ego is showing it’s age.
Loving Dave the diver on PS+. It has a really satisfying gameplay loop, and just keeps getting better the more you play. Only thing that is annoying is when you get fish that go after you relentlessly and before you know it your oxygen (health) has nearly gone and you can’t get back to the surface in time, losing everything you’ve picked up except for 1 item. Other than that, great game. In Dragons Dogma 2 I have just got to the capital of Battahl, Bakbattahl. My mystic spearhand character is fully maxed out now, except for the ultimate skill. If time I may check out the new upgrade on Fallout 4.
I was going to ignore ToK after seeing your review (5/10), but since then I’ve seen a 8/10 from Gamespot and 4/5 from Eurogamer so will give it a go now.
@Ryu_Niiyama good to know, thanks 👍 I’ve fought 2 dragons so far, one in Melve and another somewhere else. Both times the dragons buggered off halfway through the encounter!
Are they gonna reduce the frequency of pawns references to ladders?!? 😉 Re dragonsplague - fortunately I haven’t seen it yet in my game. Can it affect your main pawn? Or just hired pawns?
Have to admit I bought Fallout 4 GOTY edition on Xbox even though I haven’t even watched the show yet! For under a tenner it was a steal, especially with the upgrade coming next week.
You forgot to ask them why a couple of the game editions are stupidly expensive, or why 3.5 years into PS5’s life we’re still having to pay extra for “cross-gen” bundles 🙄 despite this though, as a big fan of TS4 I can’t wait for this, though I will be going for the basic game.
I only bought it about 10 days ago so am only around 10-15 hours into it. Frame rate isn’t as much of an issue as I expected. It’s not perfect, but it’s not game breaking either. There is some really nice lighting in the game. There are some game mechanics that are annoying though, like the loss gauge (where your health gets lower and lower until you rest at a camp/Inn). Having to constantly move inventory around between you and your pawns so you don’t get overburdened is tiresome. Then yesterday I heard about something called “dragons plague” which sounds like all kinds of annoying! Right now though, I’m still enjoying it.
I started playing it. After a little while I paused it and stumbled across the “skills” page, and noticed that a lot of the unlockable skills require button combinations. I don’t like remembering button combinations. Needless to say I’ve lost interest in the game.
This is day 1 for me. Loved TS4, and I’ve seen enough videos for TS2K25 to convince me that the gameplay is still there in spades. Admittedly some of the player models aren’t particularly great, and some of the game versions are outrageously expensive, but I’ll be happy with the base game.
Think I’ll probably pick up Banishers Ghosts of new Eden. I’m just wrapping things up on Horizon forbidden west/Burning shores, so am looking for a new game. I’ve decided to hold off on Dragons dogma 2 until they’ve improved performance.
Sounds like they made some of the in-game currencies deliberately hard to obtain just so they could give you the easy option via micro transactions, especially as they seemed to have held them back until after the reviews had come out. Needless to say this is all quite sinister.
As someone who never played the first one, this wasn’t really on my radar and I had more or less settled on Rise of the Ronin…now I don’t know what to do! 🤔 think I’ll wait until the RoR reviews drop tomorrow then go from there.
I recently started the Burning shores expansion for HFW. I don’t know how long it is but am hoping to finish it before next week in time for Rise of the Ronin.
When done well, tennis is a great sport to replicate in video game form. If this is even half as good as the illustrious Top Spin 4 then this will be a day 1 purchase for me.
After starting my second play through of Horizon Forbidden West a few months ago, I’m now nearing the end of the main campaign. Then, it’s on to the Burning Shores expansion! Thoroughly enjoyed playing this game again, and is definitely one of the best games on PS5 imo. Also playing Expeditions - a Mudrunner game, and Astral ascent. I like AA, but some of the zodiac bosses are so damn hard!
I’m in the minority, but it wasn’t for me. I got sucked in by the hype, FOMO etc and bought it. However, at times I found the game too intense, and trying to tap in button combinations for stratagems whilst under near constant bombardment was just too much. I loved the steady stream of unlocks, and a lot of the stratagems are actually pretty cool. I’ll probably give it another go before possibly deleting it.
@A2theC Thanks for your reply. I have already finished the game and the Phantom Liberty DLC, both on the default difficulty. I was just hoping for a reason to play through again preferably with all my weapons, cyberware, skills etc.
Good word of mouth, FOMO, and a very reasonable price tag no doubt helping those sales figures go up. I only bought it 2 days ago and enjoying it so far.
I think I may pull the trigger on this now. I don’t normally do co-op but have heard nothing but good things about this game. The reasonable price tag helps too.
I wasn’t going to buy this as I generally don’t do co-op games, but all the hype, positive reviews and an attractive price tag definitely has me interested now. I think I’ll still wait a while though until they’ve sorted out the server issues.

When I finish/get fed-up/annoyed with DD2 I’ll probably pick this up. Hopefully the price will have come down a bit by then.

So a lower price point possibly indicates a “worse game”?!? I don’t believe Helldivers 2 price tag of £35 did it any harm.
