Cyberpunk 2077 DLC Leak

There's something going on with Cyberpunk 2077 — and we're not just talking about the game's imminent Nintendo Switch 2 port (although that might be part of the deal).

So, in brief, there's now reason to believe that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting some kind of DLC. To be clear, we don't think this is another expansion ala Phantom Liberty. Indeed, it seems much more likely that this is to do with a big update, which could seemingly bring new side quests or activities to the open world title.

As spotted by yet another eagle-eyed user on the cyberpunkgame subreddit, Doug Van Horne, a senior writer at Virtuos, had very recently listed 'Cyberpunk 2077 DLC' under 'Experience' on his LinkedIn profile.

This post has since been removed, which arguably adds weight to the leak itself.

Virtuos is the third-party development company that crafted Update 2.2 — the major Cyberpunk 2077 patch that launched back in December. Virtuos was contracted by CD Projekt Red for the purposes of developing additional content, while the core team moved on to other projects — like The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel, codenamed Orion.

When 2.2 released, we speculated that more updates might be in the works at Virtuos. After all, bringing the company in for just a single patch seemed a bit excessive.

The Van Horne leak specifically mentions writing dialogue for "multiple new side quests", and working to create these quests for "upcoming DLC releases".

Now, this is where the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 enters the equation. Earlier this week, we reported on a potential update that could be released for existing versions of the game, based on new details revealed in official gameplay footage of the Switch 2 port.

As such, it seems increasingly likely that an update is heading our way — and it may well drop alongside the Switch 2 release on the 5th June.

The only angle that gives us pause on this whole thing is that if Cyberpunk 2077 really does have new stuff on the Switch 2, then why hasn't it been advertised? Surely new quests or activities are a selling point?

As always, we'll have to wait and see what happens. The bottom line here is that this latest leak really does suggest that support for Cyberpunk 2077 is far from over.

What do you make of this? Are you itching for a return to Night City? What would you want from new DLC or updates? Dare to dream in the comments section below.
