Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 636

Nightcrawler71

I’m playing some Lego Batman LoTDK, Forza Horizon 6 (winter looks awesome!), but my go-to game is still Crimson Desert. I’m close to completing chapter 8, so still have some way to go. I’ve set myself a few objectives for the weekend though in CD - I want to unlock elemental attacks, which should reinvigorate combat for me. Also, to get myself a baby Wyvern, so I can grow it into a mount!

Re: Crimson Desert DLC in Development, Second Content Roadmap Revealed

Nightcrawler71

I’m on around 135 hours and still not bored. In fact, there’s still stuff I haven’t even done yet - I haven’t explored any of the titular region of Crimson Desert itself, or Delesyia. Still haven’t seen any mechs, dragons, or the train. Haven’t yet tried using any elemental attacks. I haven’t even played as Damiane yet, and only briefly played (when forced to) as Oongka. Saying that, I’ve now started to focus on the main story before I start suffering burnout.

@Kraven I can definitely relate to your post. I’ve played some Lego games, but never really connected (no pun intended 😂) with them. I played the Skywalker Saga but never finished it, despite my love of Star Wars. I’ve always found the gameplay in Lego games too shallow to keep me interested. When I saw the new Batman game sitting on a metacritic score of 84 I decided to give it a go. I’ve played for around 2-3 hours today and so far am really enjoying it, more than I expected.

@trymer89 Thanks for your reply! I may pick them both up whenever they are reduced.

Forza Horizon 6 Amazing game, and probably my favourite since FH3. The cars feel great to drive, graphics are superb, and absolutely tons to do.
Crimson Desert I’m now on around 126 hours played, and Amazingly still not bored!
Bus bound I now have only one district left to upgrade, which I’ll probably get done today.
I’m thinking of buying the new Lego Batman game, but am still on the fence 🤔

Update: I caved and bought Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight! Only started playing this morning (Sunday) so am still on the league of shadows prologue/tutorial. Having fun so far, though I wish TT had made better use of the PS5 Pro - they should easily be able to implement fidelity mode but at 60fps. Hopefully it will come as a future patch 🤞

I’ll be putting in some shifts on the brilliant Bus bound. This is such a chill game, and the fictional setting of Emberville is just a joy to drive around.
I’m on around 90 hours now in Crimson Desert, though I may have to take a break from it soon to prevent burnout.
Pragmata I’m now in the game’s final area, so could finish the game this weekend. If I do, then I’ll probably download Mouse PI For hire.

Crimson Desert I’m around 85 hours in now, and have just completed chapter 6. Just started venturing into Pailune for the first time, which is gorgeous. Love all the red trees and red wood buildings.
Pragmata Great game, and loving the gunplay and hacking. Coming towards the end of the Lunum mines. I keep getting lost though 😂 if they ever do a Pragmata 2 I hope they improve the map!
I wanted to add a new title into my game rotation, so have just bought Bus bound I’ve been impressed with some of the videos I’ve seen of it on YouTube, and the fictional setting of “Emberville” looks great. Downloading it right now, so look forward to playing it a bit later today.

Update Bus bound is really good! Nice chill game, and very easy to pick up and play. Good graphics, and the buses feel great to drive. FYI it’s not a bus “sim”, definitely more in the arcade/casual camp.

Pragmata Have just started the “Luman mines” area. May also try and clear a few more red zones. My only gripe against Pragmata, is despite it being a linear game, I still find myself getting lost in the levels sometimes, and it’s not always clear which way you should be going.
Crimson desert Around 75 hours in. I’m about to start chapter 6, though have being doing more side activities today. Helped some kids out, where I had to retrieve something for them from the top of what I can only call an “Ent” lol. They then granted me access to their secret village, which includes a workshop where you can research stuff.

Too many games, not enough time! And I’ve been off work this week 😂 Still playing the brilliant Crimson Desert, which is not only my GOTY (so far) but one of my favourite games in a long time. I’m around 60 hours in, and still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface lol. Still mostly in Hernand, but have made a few excursions into Demeniss. This morning I was just outside the Hernand town centre and I noticed all these people standing either side of the path, and I thought “what’s going on here?” Next thing I know lots of soldiers came marching through and the crowds were cheering! And this wasn’t even part of a quest, I was in free roam. Nice touch.
Pragmata I’m really enjoying this. I was worried that the whole hacking thing might be a bit gimmicky, glad to say I was wrong! Great visuals, and satisfying, punchy combat. I’m currently in the second main area, which looks a bit like New York.
I feel like with Crimson Desert and Pragmata I’m already getting my moneys worth out of my new PS5 Pro 🙂
Replaced On Xbox/Gamepass. Yet another great game, with really nice graphics and solid gameplay.

Crimson Desert Around 40 hours played, still in Hernand lol. Have just started chapter 5, and the Hernand town centre is full of bunting, balloons, and jesters. Absolutely love this game. So easy to get sidetracked, and there’s so much to do. The other day I saw a clip on YouTube of what looked like a steampunk city in the game! I don’t know where it is, but I can’t wait to get there!
Pragmata demo. I still haven’t got around to playing this yet, but will boot it up this weekend in anticipation of the full game release next week.
Cyberpunk 2077 I managed to successfully import my Xbox save (completed game) onto my PS5 Pro, so will have a wander around Night City on my newest console.
Xenoblade Chronicles X (DE) After 25 hours, I’m finally on the verge of getting my skell…

Oh yeah, and I have a week off work now! So will be rinsing all these games and more 😂

Re: Crimson Desert Patch 1.02 Brings Big Quality of Life Improvements, Headgear Toggle, PS5 Pro Upgrade, and More

Nightcrawler71

@SEVENTEENSOILS thanks for your reply. I’ve read online this morning that when playing on the Pro, and playing in either performance or balanced modes, you should turn OFF the “fixed 4K” option. Apparently when left on, the game upscales in FSR and deactivates the PSSR! Basically they said that to get the full benefits of PSSR2 in performance/balanced modes, turn the fixed 4K option off. Will test it out for myself later.

I can’t stop playing Crimson Desert. Have played around 27 hours, wish it was longer. I’m on chapter 4, and now have my camp. Looking forward to playing this later today, as it just had another update. Those devs are smashing it!
Xenoblade Chronicles X (DE) I have just completed chapter 5, and I think you get your skell in Chapter 6, so am excited about that.
Only had my PS5 Pro for a week now. After some teething issues regarding download speeds (same as my base PS5 had) all is good now. Mainly playing Crimson Desert on it. The other day I downloaded Spider-Man 2, which looks incredible. Other games I want to check out on my Pro are AC Shadows, Hogwarts legacy, and Stellar Blade.

Crimson Desert. Loving this game so far. Just wish I had more time to play it. Mind you, I have a week off work soon so I know what I’ll be doing 😂
Xenoblade Chronicles X (DE) Another huge open world to explore, this time on Switch 2. Haven’t got my skell yet, but I am chipping away at the game whenever I can.
Absolum This is my “palette cleanser” between the other two huge open world games lol.

Oh yeah, and my PS5 Pro will be coming later today! 😃 Will hopefully get it set up tonight. First game I’ll be downloading will be Crimson Desert.

Re: Sony Announces Gigantic PS5 Price Increases, Effective from April 2026

Nightcrawler71

Some shops are doing the Pro for £640 right now, which is probably the cheapest it will ever be again after next week. I’m tempted to pull the trigger….

Update: I caved! It’s coming tomorrow. I think they will sell out fast over the next few days, so if you’re thinking of getting one before the (huge) price increase I would act quickly! I used Argos, and in the short time it took me to order it, it went from “available for immediate pick up” to “pick up from 9am tomorrow”.

Re: Crimson Desert (PS5) - A Generational Open World Buried in Early Access Cruft

Nightcrawler71

This review reads more like an 8 than a 6. Also, I have to disagree about graphics on base PS5. I’ve been playing in quality mode and it looks absolutely fine to me. I would suggest turning off motion blur and depth of field in the options. Also, turning up camera speed and acceleration helps it make feel more snappy. Have only put in around 8-10 hours so far (damn you work! lol) and am still in the starting area of Hernand, but I’m loving it.
