Hades 2 Will Do You a Favour and Duck the Hectic September Schedule on PS5

Switch will remain the main platform for games like this, Silksong and other 2D indies. So it wouldn’t need this exclusivity.

Great get by Nintendo. At least Nintendo is competing with PlayStation. As well GG’s to most of the other AAA games hoping to get into the GOTY conversation. Very unlikely games like KCD2, Yotei, DS2, OW2, and any others will get a spot besides on of them.

I played it on gamepass the first time and then bought it on PS5 anyway and it was one of those games that taught me it would have been better just to buy it day one and not worry about trying to save £8.

I am willing to wait and will clean my calendar for it. Really enjoyed the physical version with soundtrack we got the first time around.

I'll never get tired of singing the first game's praises. It was simply brilliant.

Two things I found particularly annoying:

1. If your controller runs out of battery, the game doesn't pause, which can be infuriating if you're in a tough spot.

2. Because everything is so random, so is triggering certain conversations to get certain rewards and trophies. I got all trophies apart from one and then spent countless hours beating the game over and over again, because I simply didn't know why a certain character wouldn't show up in my room to give me something. Thankfully, right before losing my sanity, it finally happened.

Which reminds me, I should simply play and forget about trophies or being a completionist. The dialogues were so varied and fun that I couldn't let it go.

Not a chance its a year exclusive. Too big of a title now for that. Maybe 6 months tops if they feel thats a better release window than Christmas.

Expecting Hades on PS+ soon, to tie in with the sequel, surprised it hasn't been on yet.

They got Hades for a year because it was a new, unknown IP. Hades 2 is the sequel to a game of the year, getting exclusivity on that will be dramatically more expensive than the original.

It's not even a case of whether they can afford it, it's whether it makes financial sense. And it simply doesn't. Switch 2 and Playstation 5 arent really direct rivals, the benefits of having it off other consoles for a limited time is rather minimal so why bother paying for pro-longed timed exclusivity?

One of the reasons why I bought a Switch 2. Loved the first Hades, can’t wait for the sequel!

@Bluemoon2008 just saying supergiant isn’t some huge team. They are a star indie team with a smaller overhead. Nintendo is more than big enough to sign them to a year exclusive deal.

@Max_the_German Why though ?, remote play exists as does portal.Safest option is ps5 for performance (yes even wirh switch 2 available) I think the reason the Switch family get the mantle of "indie" machine is because its not up to the job of many 3rd party titles without concessions.

How is this news? We've known Hades 2 was coming to Switch platforms first for months now.

I won't be getting a Switch 2 at all, so I'll wait for the PS5 port, thank you. I bought this game on Steam for my friend and we share our libraries so i can play this game on PC if i want to (spoiler: i don't)

@Fishmasterflex96 What game are you referring to as OW2? I immediately think of OverWatch 2, but that came out a couple of years ago and certainly would not be in the conversation for GOTY.

@Stevemalkpus outer worlds 2. I know it’s not a popular pick especially on this site with this group of fans but if people are acting like Yotei has a shot then Outer Worlds 2 does as well

@naruball hades is an excellent game. Thankyou once again for the soulstone survivors recommendation as its currently eating up my evenings. How did this one pass me by?

I bought this game played it twice and then deleted it! I now know I hate games like that.

100% a Switch 2 game for me regardless of exclusivity time. For me, Nintendo and Sony have carved out unique places in my gaming heart. Seriously, PS5 + Switch 2 can’t go wrong. Xbox is porting their games to those platforms anyway. Sending positive vibes to Supergiant and Nintendo for giving this series life.

Still need to play the first one but I keep delaying it until I play other Supergiant titles first.

Also I want a Netflix series just in the style of this trailer. It was awesome!

I’m totally fine with it not being on PS5 right away so I can chip away at my massive backlog lol

Steam got to Alpha test it. Nintendo will Beta test it now. Looking forward to it fully releasing when it comes to PS5 next year.

@Northern_munkey Oh, man! How awesome is that? Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, it's pretty addictive and well made. Currently playing Nerd survivors, which I find quite enjoyable, but far from great. It lacks a decent budget so it heavily relies on being impossible to beat unless you grind to death just to beat the second stage (which is the same as the first one, but more difficult)

@Propaperpusher the exact opposite happened to me. I had no idea I liked this weird genre until I played Hades (1). Now it's all I want to play. But I get what you mean.

@naruball have you tried kill knight? It's a twinstick shooter with rouge like elements. It's really good but it's very challenging. I play it off and on and I like it a lot. I don't know if you like metroidvania rogue likes but if you haven't (shame on you if it's the case) maybe check out dead cells. I had to uninstall that one because I was playing nothing else and found I was hoarding games because I couldn't stop playing it 🤣.

@Northern_munkey I just watched a gameplay video of kill Knight and it looks ace, but, if it's too difficult, I fear I may break my psportal...

Dead souls always looked interesting to me, but I (shamefully) refused to play it due to its graphics. It felt weird to pay all that money for a TV and a ps5 and to play a game that could have come out decades ago. Now with psportal and after experiencing the awesomeness of Vampire Survivors I've changed my mind and can finally appreciate a fine game like Dead Cells. So, thanks for reminding of its existence. I just downloaded it and will give a go

Didn't even know Yotei was out soon. Too many other games I'm focused on. I still have to do all my runs with MGS3, then play Cronos, Hell is Us before Silent Hill and Time Stranger is out. Find time to play Gears reloaded. There's a bunch more later in October too. 3 games coming out on the 21st alone!
