Just a heads up, this game has a lot more stealth than what people are probably expecting. I played it on Xbox Gamepass, and couldn’t really get into it, though I seemed to be in the minority. Great graphics though, and Troy Baker’s take on Indy is spot on.
Great news for existing owners of a PS5 Pro, but for potential new buyers next year will be another year closer to PS6, so why bother? Nevertheless, all this tech bodes well for PS6 whenever it comes out.
I’ve been on premium the last few years, but I think when it comes to renewing it I’m going to drop down to extra. The trials are nice on premium, but I don’t play the old/classic titles.
I’ve been having a blast playing Far Cry New Dawn, thanks to the 60fps patch. Also picked up Oceanhorn 2 for under a tenner in a PS store sale. Seems quite good fun so far, though don’t know how long it will keep me interested for. Hope to play the Monster hunter wilds beta as well.
@StylesT Same, bought it in the PS store sale (about £6). If I can get into the first game then I’ll probably end up buying KCD2 at some point. Only thing is, is that there are so many games coming out this year, and both KCD games sound like big time sinks.
I’m tempted, especially after all of the glowing reviews. However, I don’t think I would have the patience or time for it. I’m hoping for some kind of trial/demo, either that or try the first one which is currently on sale 🤔
I hope this gets a trial on PS+ premium. It looks great and am glad it has reviewed well, but just don’t know if I’d have the patience for it tbh (never played the first game).
Digital foundry said a while back that they’d be surprised if even the PS5 Pro could run it at 60fps. I personally think it will be a locked 30fps, but I’m sure Rockstar are working hard to make it as buttery smooth as possible.
I’m excited for AC Shadows itself, but I still don’t see the point of the “Animus hub” 🤔 not to mention having several AC games installed simultaneously will take up considerable SSD space.
@Kienda just use the “add to library” option (something I wish Xbox would add). Whenever you get a lull in games then you always have them as an option.
Infinity Nikki has probably been one of the biggest surprises for me, and I’m definitely not the target demographic! To call it a “dress-em up” actually does the game a disservice - yes, you collect outfits, many of which have abilities, but it’s also a gorgeous open world (running on UE5 no less!) with many platform and puzzle elements. I’m sure some of the “gacha” elements will start to grate eventually, but so far I’ve been having lots of fun and still haven’t spent a penny of real world money.
@Throb you’d think in 2024 this option would come as standard. Teardown was another game that launched without a invert Y option, and we had to wait a few weeks for them to patch it in 🙄
I was in my 20s when PS1 launched. Favourite games were Ridge Racer, the original Wipeout, Tomb Raider, and last but definitely not least…Gran Turismo. At the time the graphics were amazing, and even better were the replays. Not only that, but GT had a meaty single player campaign which in a racing game was unheard of at the time. But the thing I’m most thankful to PlayStation for, was that it made gaming cool. Before PS, gamers were always regarded as “nerds”, or “geeks”, and being a gamer wasn’t exactly a hobby we shouted from the rooftops! Slowly but surely though, PlayStation became mainstream and we were no longer embarrassed to be gamers. Thank you Sony 🙏
I was a lapsed player, but last time I went to play it I wanted to restart but the game wouldn’t let me 😡 don’t know if this is still the case. Probably just start it on Xbox now when it drops on there.
@Tatarimokke Yes you’ll see other players, especially in towns, but I tend to ignore them 😂 you may occasionally end up fighting the same enemy, but this is just because you both happen to be in the same place at the same time. I don’t think other players can hurt/kill you, unless you specifically enter a PvP event, which I haven’t done. I’ve heard that the campaign - which you can solo - is around 50 hours, and that’s before you get to endgame stuff, dungeons, raids etc. I would call the game a MMO ARPG, so yes would recommend it even to solo players. Also, check out a guy on YouTube called Renfail, who’s done quite a few good videos recently on Aeternum.
I’ve been playing this since last weekend and am loving it. There’s so much to do, and I barely feel like I’ve scratched the surface of the game. There are 3 graphics options, and you’re best just sticking with the default “quality” option. The 4K option isn’t smooth enough, and as you say, resolution takes a hit in performance mode. My character is a soldier, though I later swapped out his hatchet for a musket, so I now have the best of both worlds in close/ranged attacks. Yeah, the character models aren’t particularly great, but otherwise I’m really enjoying this and it definitely scratches that open world itch. Even though this is classed as an MMO you can totally play it solo, which is what I’ve been doing. My only gripe really is mounts being locked until you hit level 20, I’m currently level 17 so have to run everywhere 🙄
Technically the game is amazing (no pun intended 😂) - swinging through built-up environments is very demanding on the console, but the PS5 manages it superbly. For actual gameplay/missions I thought the game was solid but nothing special.
To be fair the majority of games that charge over £/$70 for “early access” also include DLC or an expansion pass as well, eg the “Gold” edition of Star Wars Outlaws. As far as “standard” releases charging £/$70 goes, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if GTA 6 is the first game to break through this barrier.
How is FF7 Rebirth not even in the top 10?!? My favourite - so far - is probably Astro Bot, but also enjoyed Stellar Blade and the aforementioned Rebirth. Games which I bought (damn FOMO!!) but didn’t click with were Helldivers 2, and Space Marine 2. Have only just started the prologue demo for Metaphor ReFantazio, so too early for an opinion yet.
The Last of Us Part 1. I played it when it first came out on PS4, but this is my first time playing the PS5 remake. Needless to say, the graphics are amazing. Astro Bot. I so far have around 230 bots, so still plenty to find. I’m currently tracking down all the lost galaxy levels. Last night I unlocked the “Horzion” themed level, which I look forward to playing later today. Diablo IV: Vessel of hatred. Hadn’t played the main game for quite a while, this was the perfect reason to jump back in! Zelda Echoes of Wisdom Literally just started this this morning.
I looked at them, just out of curiosity more than anything. Yep, it was still in stock (maybe still is?). For a split second I thought, “I could…” but luckily common sense prevailed, and I was back to “No, I just can’t justify that £825 price tag”.
I’ve almost finished the game now and am on the last (main) mission. Just a shame that this last mission relies so heavily on stealth, which makes it a bit of a drag. I have around 45 hours in the game and for the most part have enjoyed it. 8/10 from me.
@DennisReynolds I wonder if this delay will affect day 1 sales of PS5 Pro? After all, AC Shadows would have been the first new game to take advantage of the Pro’s power.
Some games do “fidelity” mode really well. Eg, I played FF7 rebirth in fidelity mode and had no issues with it. I always try both, but I’d say I probably use performance mode more than fidelity.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Pre-Orders Are 'Solid', in Line with Odyssey
I will preorder soon, just gotta decide whether to buy it on PS5 or Series X 🤔 it often comes down to how much free space I have in each console 😂

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 567
@rusty82 can’t speak for the Switch version but on PS5 it runs fine so far, seems to be 60fps.

Over several months if I have to, though often take a short hiatus to prevent burnout.
