The console wars won't end, just evolve.

Usually it's multiple games but this weekend I'm just going to focus on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5).

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is my favorite game of the sixth console generation and one of my top 5 favorite games of all-time, so there was no way I was going to miss this. Like it a lot overall but Unreal Engine 5 is something that needs to stop being used.

Resident Evil 7 is one of my favorite games from last gen but I don't think it being in first person added any tension. Maybe if I played it in VR I would've felt different. Still, I've never found any RE game to be scary.

We'll agree to disagree then. It's all safe. Even the games I'm looking forward to. If they aren't remasters or sequels they're games that clearly rip off others in the genres I like and none of them have any 'bite.' The least safe of all the ones I'm hyped for is probably Silent Hill f and even that is tame compared to games I used to play in the 90s to mid-00s.

I think you give Sony far too much credit. Heck, the whole 'AAA' industry itself is a bit of a mess right now because they're all chasing that mythical 'never ending growth.' That's why everything is safe, sanitized, boring bs.

Pass. I like Stellar Blade, I definitely like Eve but enough of the crossovers. Aside from the fact she doesn't fit because she's a weapon-based fighter, Tekken has enough problems that need to be fixed and it already has a large enough roster. Focus on gameplay fixes, nothing more at this point.

Yeah, not these days sadly. Or if it did, it would have to be massively toned down and in that case I'd rather they just not make it.

Don't need a full-on remake. Just give Contra: Shattered Soldier a real visual upgrade, put it on PS5 and call it a day

With MGS 4, I'd like a bit of work put into modernizing the controls, but that's another game I'd like to see on PS5. Contra first, though.

Yeah, I noticed some of that stuff too. I'll admit I bought a Switch 2 because I want to keep playing Nintendo's first party games but I'm not a fan of a lot of what they're doing. Of course, I can say the same about Sony and, especially, MS. It's getting close to a point where I think I might be better off just building a gaming PC but at the same time, as somebody who prefers physical copies of games, I know there's zero option for it there.

Seems stupid. It may not be the biggest market for this type of game but one does exist on PS5 and while I want the system to succeed because I own one, I don't think this Switch 2 'momentum' people are talking about actually exists. The further we've moved out of that early launch window, the more readily available the machine is. Far more so than Switch 1, PS5 and even Series X/S were.

Seems ok but I'm going to be much more careful about buying Chinese games after what happened with Wuchang.

I said when Lego Horizon was announced for Switch that it was an interesting decision by Sony. People flipping their you know what over this now, should've been paying closer back when that happened. PlayStation is a third party, I don't like it but that is the reality of the situation and people have to realize that acting like children by having an internet temper tantrum isn't going to change things. Accept what things are now and make your choices on where you want to play PS games accordingly.

Seems like a situation that could've been avoided if people in management positions actually did their jobs.

Hope it turns out well but seems like the gameplay won't be for me. Will keep an open mind, though, because I don't think there's ever been a truly great Jurassic Park. Maybe a couple ok ones.

Good. The amount of crossover content in fighting games is reaching stupid levels these days.

Wouldn't say the best (I'd go with 5 and 3 as my favorites) but definitely up there. Unfortunately, seems like the closest we'll ever get to a third Tag entry is if Harada works a tag mechanic into the next 'mainline' Tekken game.

Still have a bit of time to wait before the physical release of Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, but, definitely seems like it'll be worth it and then NG 4 not long after that.

Sony has been a bit clueless for a while now, imo, even before the live service push. The market leader in console sales but has followed every dumb idea MS had that sank the Xbox console brand.

With first party games going multiplat there will be zero reason to invest in a PS6.

PlayStation, the console brand, is dead.

No buy, then. That simple.

If I do buy this game, it'll be on PS5 then since I prefer real physical releases. Only thing I can say about key cards is at least you can trade them in, but it's still not close to a good half-step even if it is much better than the moronic code-in-a-box.

Could mean bad things for the single player aspect. Definitely need more information about the game before I get too hyped.

Definitely getting these new outfits for Cammy, Chun-Li and Kimberly.

Resubscribed to Peacock just for this because I really liked season 1. Haven't gotten around to episode 3 yet but off to a nice start with the first couple.

She wasn't my favorite character in 4 but I did like her addition and was disappointed they left her out of 5. Happy she's returning.

Between Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. finally getting a console release date (with an added single player mode) and this MK collection getting a proper physical release on Switch 2, new out of this year's EVO was much better than I expected it to be.

Was going to get it anyway for the simple fact there's finally going to be a native PS5 version of VF 5 but the added single player content is very much appreciated.

I don't want to get my hopes up too high because Silent Hill hasn't had a great entry that isn't a remake in a very long time. But I'd be lying if I said I'm not hyped.

I pre-ordered a disc copy from GameStop so I won't be getting this until September but great to know the game turned out well. Been high on my list since it was announced.

I love beat-em-ups so I'll be paying attention to this one.

An attractive female lead and some revealing outfits is a W in my book, doesn't mean I'll purchase the game, however. I'm interested but it's going to take a lot more convincing to get me to hand over the $. I really keep hoping Capcom has a new Dino Crisis lined up but I think it's too busy enjoying the money from Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter to do anything else.

Not being on the inside we'll neve know all the reasoning. In the end it'll be interesting to see what plays out. I'm not a big fan of the way gaming is headed in general so I guess it's just sit back and watch the show.

Good point about subscription services like Netflix, Prime TV etc. I've brought it up in other places. You need exclusive content to sell certain products. Hardware features that can't be used elsewhere help but at the end of the day it's games that sell a game console.

More than that, though, I love how this discussion, like everything else in gaming, always ends up getting boiled down to 'you're just a fanboy if you don't want x game on x console.' I have my preference, sure, I've been more of a PlayStation guy since the PS2 era but I like Nintendo (own or owned every one of its systems other than Virtual Boy), I've bought every Xbox and it's because of exclusives on those consoles that I did so. It led to great competition between the 3 which benefitted all gamers, specifically on the pricing front. Now everything is profit drive, there's almost zero passion behind games getting made these days and prices are getting out of control.

$800 for a console with true exclusives would be an extremely difficult sell. Without any exclusives? Might as well just copy exactly what MS is doing. The current strategy is beyond stupid if Sony wants to stay in the console game, which I'm starting to think it doesn't because it has copied every dumb decision MS has made.

Pre-ordered a physical copy today at Gamestop when I picked up Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. Have to wait until September to get it, definitely hyped.

One to watch, as I do love the cyberpunk aesthetic.

Would be awesome to have Suda 51 on the project but even if an olive branch was extended, it seems he's busy with other stuff, which is a good thing. As much as I like Lollipop Chainsaw and, especially, the No More Heroes series, I want to see new ideas from him.

Could've been worded better. The way I see it, he's trying to assure people they won't censor the heck out of the game because of some hypersensitive types online. Bigger picture, though, I'm not so sure Juliet's story needed to be continued much the same way I don't think The Last of Us needed another game. Sometimes it's ok to let stuff go. A remaster, fine. A new game? An anime? There isn't that much to this universe. Interested to see them try but this isn't exactly an IP such as Like a Dragon which lends itself brilliantly to multiple stories.

I had some Resident Evil Revelations avatars that I bought when the game launched on PS3. Noticed I can't see them on PS5 anymore but I still have my PS3 hooked up, I'll check it out on there when I get a chance.

Those pre-order numbers must've been really bad. I did get Mario Kart World as part of the Switch 2 bundle, eventhough I would've preferred to just spend $20 extra and get it for $70 physically. Won't be getting any more standard edition of games for $80+. Hoping Nintendo isn't going to go that high with Metroid Prime 4 NS2 Edition and the next Zelda and Mario games but it probably will. GTA 6 is the most interesting one. I could see it being in that higher price range but I wouldn't be too surprised if it's $70, either.

Yeah, I have 3 Dualsense controllers, white, black and the Spider-Man 2 one. Didn't really need another, either, but I do have a lot of nostalgia for the 32-bit era.

I'm still going to get the game but it's disappointing to read about the performance issues. Although, the base PS5 hardware is almost five years old so I expect this to become a bigger and bigger problem, especially as more devs shift focus to optimizing for PS5 Pro while simply putting out a vanilla PS5 version because it's required.
