Resident Evil Requiem has been a huge hit for Capcom, selling five million units in just a few days.
It’s one of the biggest single player success stories in recent memory, and it represents a really refreshing moment for anyone who loves traditional, narrative-based games. Kudos to all involved!
There is a not-so surprising nugget buried in all this, though: old people are contributing to the title’s success.
According to US sales data guru Mat Piscatella, Circana PlayerPulse data signalled that around 60% of those planning to purchase the game were 35 or above.

In some ways, this does make sense: we know the console audience is aging, and younger players are opting for software like Roblox and Fortnite on tablets and cheap PCs. The game is also obviously rated 18, so that’s always going to push the age of its audience up.
But Resident Evil, despite its continued popularity, is a franchise that first found success on the PS1 in 1996. It makes sense that most fans who’ve followed the franchise would be in their mid- to late-30s by now.
Without delving too deeply into your personal data, whereabouts do you fit into all this? Are you one of the rare Resident Evil Requiem players below 30, or do you fit the demographic outlined by the Circana data above?
