Phew, what a barnstorming State of Play that was, eh? We need to unwind after such an excellent show. The antidote? A weekend of gaming, of course!

There's love for retro gaming in the air this Valentine's Day, as I'm downloading the Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection. Sending cheers to Sammy for letting us know that it's on a save 75% sale until Wednesday 25th February, so get this retro compilation cheap before it's delisted in just over a month.

It's the new Honkai: Star Rail update for me. With the Trailblazer arriving on a new planet this weekend, my excitement for all the new story and gameplay is at fever pitch. I can't wait to see what's in store.

This weekend I’ll be hit with nostalgia as I jump into Rayman on PS5. This was the first game I remember playing at after school club when I was just 6-years-old. I recall winding up my punches only for the enemy to continuously duck everything I threw at him. Maybe I’ll have better luck now with my gaming experience.

As it will be for many fans of the series, this weekend is all about God of War: Sons of Sparta for me. I'm super intrigued to discover what this game has to offer.
That's everything we're playing this week, then, but what about you? As always there's so much to choose from, so let us know below.

This weekend I will play Reanimal. I have played and beaten Little Nightmares 1 and 2 (still have to play 3). It looks really good on the PS5.
After the amazing reveal of Belmont's Curse I will play Dracula's Curse! I also hope that we can see Hector in Belmont's Curse as he should be alive in that time period!
And I will be playing Diablo 2 Reign of the Warlock on the Steam Deck. It plays like a dream NOW that it is natively supported on the Deck! No character slot limit so I can finally start the Holy Grail challenge for myself!
Have a wonderful (AND filled with Love!) gaming weekend everyone!!!
Dragon Age: The Veilguard still as going for the platinum. Need to start other games in my back log but really want to finish Veilguard first.
I tried the Pragmata demo and it wasn’t for me unfortunately. When I first started it up I was getting Vanquish vibes but soon realised the hacking/shooting wasn’t my cup of tea.
Beer,Films, Heavy metal and Fa cup Football all day too 👍
Have a great gaming weekend Pushsquarians! 🍻
Backlog cleanup for me. Just finished Expedition 33 (wow!), now finishing off Under the Waves then will start Star Wars Outlaw.
Assassin's Creed Shadows
I'm a bit of an AC stan but must admit I'm getting a bit fatigued with this game. I've platinumed both Odyssey and Valhalla so it's not like I hate the Ubisoft open world bloat, but this game is feeling very samey especially with the castles. I'll probably just mainline the golden path from here on.
Everything
I think I've seen just about everything the game has to offer and will probably move on soon.
Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster
I'm probably a third of the way through the game. It's a real step up from FF I-III in terms of narrative.
I finally finished with Red Dead Redemption last weekend. What an incredible game. That ending... at first I wondered where they were going with the story, but when the conclusion finally came, it hit hard. I think it's going to stay with me for a long time.
After completing the epic RDR, I decided that I wanted a good old-fashioned linear blast to cleanse my palate. I plumped for Transformers: War for Cybertron... and it's just what Ratchet, er, I mean the doctor, ordered. An absolute blast (both figuratively and literally).
As a child of the 80s, Transformers is one of the fondest things from my formative years, so I've been playing through the campaign with a big stupid grin on my face the whole time. Playing as Megatron facing off against Omega Supreme? My inner child did a back flip 😃
I'm almost finished with the campaign now but I'll be launching straight back in again this weekend to play as some of the other characters. It's just a ton of fun. I might even see if I can persuade my daughter to play the campaign co-op with me... though it's probably not really her thing.
Also continuing to play Patapon in my spare moments when I'm not fragging Cybertronians.
Have a great weekend, carbon-based units.
Expedition 33. The more I play the more I like it. Can get a real sense that the people who made it are real gamers who love to actually play games.
Forme I’m playing yakuza kiwami 3, need to get go back to dragon quest 7 to finish off post game hopefully I can get both these games finished off before resi 9 🤞 to many games atm, I’ve put off nioh 3 till after then
Got a bit of a free weekend so planning some relaxing gaming after a busy week, so will finish my 2nd run on Hard mode on Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. Like this game a lot, despite its MANY flaws, and I mean many. But the bosses are fantastic though.
Will carry on with Final Fantasy 9 PS4, my favourite FF, with the best characters - roll on that remake ! 😉
Me and my daughter will play the lovely Sonic Racing Crossworlds a gem of a karting game, better than Mario Kart World - there, ive said it.
I'll also look at Blazbue Entropy Effect on GamePass !
As its Valentine Day, there'll be a meal for two later - ill be stuffed after that ! 😉
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
I will be playing dragon quest 2 hd and maybe Lego horizon with my fiance. I brought her silent hill f she got be donkey Kong so loads of options have fun 😊
Finished Kcd2 last week. One of the best games i have ever played.
Ill continue and finish Ultros this weekend.
Also starting Kcd ps5 version.
Also got 50 euros from my wife for Valentine. Im tempted to buy the new God of War game.
Have a great weekend!
I Will be getting the Platinum for both Psychonauts Games.
Greetings fellow video game enthusiasts. My dad surprised me with a Switch 2, which I am in the process of setting up as we speak. I'm excited to play Mario Kart World and I also ordered Donkey Kong Bananza and Metroid Prime 4. What a time to be alive!
Helldivers II and Nioh III for me.
So glad I didn't stick to my notion of skipping Nioh. Best entry so far.
@Eduard_Brenton ...enjoy Metroid Prime 4 ! It's great
KCD next gen update
I like to have one single player game, one Saturday night group multiplayer game and a co-op game on the go at a time so I’m playing
Killer Frequency
Abiotic Factor
Reanimal
i’ll be chugging away at the platinum in dragon quest 11, beyond that nothing.
Dragon Quest I+II Remake: Obviously starting with I and it sure feels weird having only one party member. The story also flows quite quickly, with my having already done about one-third, including three of the ten bosses. It's quite satisfying to return to Dragon Quest, from the sounds of walking through doorways to discovering unexpected items in pots and on shelves. The Hero is given a surprising bit of depth with his relation to Erdrick, and the people you encounter such as Robbin 'Ood or the fairies are quite memorable.
On the Pro Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Silent Hill f. Also playing Kena bridge of spirits after the reveal of the new one. On the Ps3 Im playing WET and Lollipop Chainsaw
Will continue a bit of my KCD1 playthrough with this new upgrade. Then it's back to KCD2. Definitely one of my favourite franchises. Been playing a lot of MHWilds too, yknow MH never gets old.
Easy answer: the push for Cyberstan continues, need to spread Democracy, Cyberstan must fall.
I'm playing:
Have a nice weekend everyone 🍻
Just started Ghost of Yotei I'm about 13 hours in and I'm really enjoying it so far it's stunning looking so I've been taking loads of photos.
Im on Nioh 3. But my copy arrived late ( thanks Amazon). Im addicted to it. More than 30 hours in already. Enjoy all slices of it. Even on that Coop, helping other ones for hours already. My GotY and one of the best games this gen.
I thought I'd finshed Tales Of Graces, but it turns out there was another whole chapter you access from the title screen. I should've known better, the first ending felt too complete & everyone knows jrps have a least 3 cop out endings before you get the real one.
You know what, bugger it I'm playing Ninja Gaiden Ragebound instead, it's been taunting me from the shelf since I bought it.
I will continued playing fan favorite one if the best video games ever in the incredible absolum. I will also continued the instant classic the amazing hades.i will also be continued playing the wonderful shadow warrior 2.i will also be continued playing one of the best indie games ever in the awsome rogue legacy 2.i will also continued playing the phenomenal hollow knight voidheart edition. And I will I will be watching my michigan wolverines 💛 💙 basketball play.i will watch the nba all star.i will be watching legendary sitcoms TV 📺 comedy shows in family matters.good times.the Jeffersons.sanford and son.different strokes.martin.the wayans brothers and saved by the bell.word up son
Doom The Dark Ages Rather enjoying this so far, much more than Etental. The dragon bits seem superfluous, and really missing those Mick Gordon tunes. Still great though.
Absolum Time to jump back in now the big update is out.
Shinobi Art of Vengeance A fab game let down a bit by the overly long levels. I also encountered an issue where I hadn't beaten a boss on an early level (because the game let me "finish" the level without doing so), and I was blocked from progressing later on. The game never communicated this to me, and it took a bit of Googling to find out WTH happened. Poor, poor game design.
Dark Souls III Enjoying my re-roll much more than my initial play years ago. Fromsoftware really have some of the best level design in the business. Dare I say the bosses in this are much better than a lot of what's found in Elden Ring too.
I’m currently playing V rising, and I’m enjoying debating where to build my castle of prisoners…….I mean, well paid servants who are allowed to go outside. I don’t think I would pass a health and safety inspection in its current state - but who knows, maybe they really would like how my statutes and pillars are placed like a maze.
I've given Tainted Soul a break for a week because I was feeling a bit burnt out after 150 hours and I've still got most of the 3rd area and all the DLC, so I've swapped to the Pacific Drive DLC. It's a bit impenetrable, but I'm starting to click with it. It could have really done explaining the new mechanics better though (replace all the panels with attuned ones, then use the resonator to charge them up when you find wrecked cars out in the world).
Oh and still Subnautica because it's awesome
Have a great weekend folks!
Ive Just bought AC Shadows for £25. Playing in Japanese/Portuguese with subs and no HUD. Pretty good so far and it looks gorgeous.
Trying out some demos on ps portal
Got seriously back into Helldivers 2. Having a blast with the new update. Then also cleaning up the last trophy for Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Just need new game plus for the platinum. Happy Gaming All
I'm determined to finish Octopath Traveler 0! I'm 97 hours in and just completed the Bestower of Power arc.
Not much today as out all day but when I get to the new 2d god of war and Cronos new dawn now it's been patched
I've just started Act 2 of Expedition 33 and despite my rather negative impression last week I have to say the game has started to impress me and I'm now enjoying myself..(still don't understand the hype though)
Been mostly playing octopath Traveller Zero on my Switch.Absolutely loving this game!
@ApostateMage Hell yeah, the immersive mode is so much better!! I saw the English dub on the internet, and it can't compare. It's a Yakuza/Like a Dragon situation.
Very good game, quite beautiful. Naoe and Yasuke are great characters. Just played last night, this product is packed with things to do hehe
I'll mostly be playing Ghost of Yotei. I like it, but I'm wanting it to end so I can move onto something else. I'll also be playing Abiotic Factor and Reanimal in co-op.
Bought the Wreckfest PS5 upgrade so going back to that as really enjoyed the game on PS4. Also playing the Sinking City again, Jedi Survivor for the first time.
Retro-wise, it's Shadowgate via the 8-bit Adventure Anthology and the original Sonic the Hedgehog via the Origins collection on PS5. Will probably play some SEGA Rally on my Saturn, the game never gets old for me.
@JamieO I like the Jurassic collect, but own it on Switch! The Game Boy Jurassic Park 2 was a nice discovery for me, reminds me of Ocean's best and even sounds like a C64 game.
Mario Tennis Fever if I feel up to it. I’m feeling quite ill at the moment. Mario Tennis isn’t the only one with a fever, I suppose! Ha!
There’s some demos that were recently released across the platforms I’d like to play too. Monster Hunter Stories 3, Darwin’s Paradox, Lana 2, Replaced, and I think there’s a few more. The release schedule’s about to explode.
I've finished and platinumed Fallout 4 since last week, and I've enjoyed it more than I expected. Part of that is that it finally runs good with 60 fps and no lag or super long loading times, it was pretty bad on og ps4 when the save files got big. I also played the Far Harbour DLC, which was very good. Last time around I had to give up due to the suffering it put my poor ps4 through. Now I'm really hoping the next Fallout game focuses more on the story and side missions and exploration, which are the strong points of the game imo. Also hoping we'll get the remasters of Fallout 3 and NV sooner rather than later so I can get lost in the Wasteland again 🙂
High on Life 2 - We've resubbed to Game Pass Ultimate as me and my son both wanted to play this and he also wants to play Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar so I figured its worth a month or two of GPU. Anyway, the game seems pretty good avtually, I'm not far in but I've gotten the skateboard which makes gameplay more fun, the art style is great and the humor is more of the same which is also good (although very dependant on your kind of humor). The performance on the Series S isnt the best though, its not a stable 60 fps but close, but the image is very blurry and glitchy etc and its annoying. Still, the game is fun and the FPS is stable enough to make the game enjoyable so I'll stick with this version 🙂
Nioh 3 and I love it! Many games will be sidelined now in the coming weeks. But I need to find time to try the Warlock DLC I bought for Diablo 2 Ressurected.
Finally joined the Yakuza bandwagon with Yakuza 0. In fact I played Yakuza 1 & 2 on PS2 back in the day but never since so it’s a fresh start. My overarching memory of those PS2 games was how dynamic the combat felt in the early 2000s, grabbing a guy and smashing his head into a wall, or picking up a sign and beating them down with it… it felt like you could do anything.
Jump forward 20 years and even though Yakuza 0 uses the newer engine the combat feels a lot more clunky that I remember, quite limited in a lot of ways, it gets tired quite fast, and I don’t love that aspect as much as I expected. But thankfully there isn’t actually that much combat so far, the game is far more of an interactive movie (with a LOT of mini-games) than I remember with long cutscenes followed by a few minutes of gameplay then another lengthy cutscene.
Thankfully the story is good, the characters, writing are voice work are excellent, and the sense of place in Kamorocho is brilliant. I am still a little disappointed however, I thought I’d love it more based on memory and reputation. But I’m only on Chapter 8 of X, will see how I feel by the end.
Beat Lies of P. Now looking for my next game to play.
How are Sektori and Sons of Sparta?
I'll be continuing my Code Vein 2 run, which I am very much enjoying. Loving the exploration, and am finding the combat fun though I rarely seem to get my parries off, although that is normal for me as it's never been my strong point.
I'll also be doing another two afternoons of Horde runs on Master difficulty as a team of 3 in Gears 5. We've now managed to complete 16 of the 37 maps as just a trio on the hardest difficulty, which is meant for a team of 5, so pretty proud of our achievement. Some maps will be impossible to do, and we are starting to run out of manageable maps, but hopefully we can knock a few more out before we move on to E-Day. Also hoping that I can get to Re-Up 60 before then too, as I am currently on Re-Up 56, and it takes something like 3 weeks for each re-up...
I’m on a play through of Rise of the Tomb Raider. Will also play Sonic Racing Cross Worlds.
@Duck_Farmer FF4 was a HUGE leap in terms of characters and story telling, enjoy. Are you playing them all?
All about Nioh 3. It's so good
Any spare moment I get this weekend will be on the fantastic Nioh 3. Everytime I don't think they can add more depth it throws a new, interesting system/feature/area at me. Its probably the most customisable and adaptable soulslike I have ever played.
@cainhurst94 I had hundreds of hours in Geometry Wars 1, 2 and 3 back in the day so I was super keen to jump into Sektori the moment it released but I am just really really struggling to click with it. Maybe its that my reactions aren't the same nowadays as they were 20 years ago so your mileage may vary!
Nothing.
Weekend with a friend, in the country.
Just lots of food and terribad jokes you can only laugh at with your bros
Ended a toxic three-year relationship, so I decided to replay Life Is Strange: True Colors. It deals with grief and trauma, and it's my comfort game lol.
I took down the final, final boss in Trails Into Reverie last night - not as hard as the Cold Steel 2 final boss, but it definitely tests your team's depth and ability to strategize with as many as 24 different characters. A fantastic send off.
Two weeks until Requiem - I'll be playing some other horror games to whet my appetite. First up will be Daymare 1998 which I nabbed off of Amazon for $6. I will also continue my way through Control and may dip back into another RPG that I dropped like Romancing Saga 2 or Metaphor ReFantazio.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
@Divergent95 Celebrate the closing of that chapter and enjoy starting the next chapter of your life. Great game choice.
@Divergent95 Good enjoy and take your time to process everything. True Colors is great game
Oblivion Remastered:
Got the platinum this morning (#106) and started the Shivering Isles. It's still a lot of fun to play but it's kinda shocking that it's still this buggy and broken 20 years later.
Returnal:
Finished a run of Ascension, beating the final boss, need a couple of collectables now to see the true ending of that hopefully it's not as much of a pain as the main games were.
Other than that I'm not really sure where to go I have DOOM 1+2 to start and I picked up Kingdom Hearts 3 for £6 but I'm not sure I wanna go in for something so long with RE Requiem just over the hill. GOW Sons of Sparta is also pretty tempting.
Trying to wrap up AI Limit so I can fully focus on Romeo is a Dead Man. It’s been fantastic so far, but I also loved Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw, so I know what I’m fully in for there. Honestly, the Push Square review here was a bit harsh by comparison.
Otherwise I’m finishing up preparing do the Expedition in Arc Raiders and working my way through a second playthrough of RE3
@Divergent95 at least your out my dude, things can only get better
Still grinding through Tainted Grail and still loving it.
When I get a chance I intend to finish Keeper, my wife finished it last week and was left really moved by it.
Whatever you are playing, I hope you have fun!
After today's outside workout, my gaming mission is to finish the 2nd playthrough of Silent Hill 2 (under 10 hours + other endings).
Have fun everyone!
@somnambulance Sending wishes for you to feel better mate..
I traveled back in time so I'm playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 on the PS5 and God of war: Chains of Olympus on PS3.
@Decoy_Snake @cainhurst94 @themightyant
Thank you guys! Appreciate the support and it already feels amazing to finally breathe again
I'm playing the remastered of first Onimusha to get a feel of the IP before new one comes. I also do some of the leftovers on the map from Ghost of Tsushima. Guess I won't get involved with something else until RE9 since I have Clair Obscur and Silksong to get back too.
After finishing up all trophies on Kingdom Come, I've started the 2nd one. Absolutely night and day difference and how a sequel should be, not a side step but a leap forward. It's absolutely phenomenal and improves on everything the first one tried and sometimes succeeded in. This is a company that has a passion for its craft, which sadly is almost unheard of in the industry today.
I've been slowly chipping away at Borderlands 4 with my wife since I got my PS5 a few months ago. We played some more last night, and I've come to the conclusion that its my least favorite Borderlands game. It's not bad, but I dont care for the story at all (I barely know whats happening), the map is too big and empty, the soundtrack sucks, and the UI is absolutely terrible (especially in split screen). It's only saving grace is that the gameplay is still generally fun. Shooting and combat feels good and I like the grapple and jet boots addition. But we only get the drive to play it once every few weekends if my daughter stays at her grandparents house for the night or goes to a friend's house for a sleepover. I think its because the game feels too big and daunting, and that we keep forgetting what we're doing. We've been just sticking to main missions for the last few play sessions. We want to wrap it up soon so we can play Absolum and Scott Pilgrim EX when it comes out.
Other than that, I'm hooked on Horizon Forbidden West. I'm enjoying exploring this big environment much more than Borderlands 4. I don't mind being absorbed in this world for the months to come.
Happy Saturday all. It's back to the hunter's dream and Bloodborne for me again this weekend in search of the platinum.
I screwed up last weekend, the hunter's dream was on fire, I uploaded a save to the cloud looking to acquire all 3 endings but somehow when I downloaded the save I was on NG+, mind you I had enjoyed a beverage or two by that point.
So on with NG+ and it's a case of fighting the mandatory bosses and collecting three umbilical cords, so Vicar Amelia, look out I'm coming for you next.
I will also have one eye on the rugby, I hope I'm wrong but I don't fancy Scotland's chances in today's Calcutta cup game but you never know.
This weekend I am playing NiOh 3. I’m approximately a quarter of the way through with 13-hours of playtime. My experience has been sublime thus far. If you are not a fan of souls-like then this game won’t move the needle. However, if you’re a fan of this genre, and generally hardcore action game with robust combat, then welcome aboard.
This latest entry is probably the most accessible because of the approach in its difficulty. It’s achieved by open world exploration, and giving always giving you something to indulge. If you’re having trouble with a group of enemies, or an optional boss, simply go somewhere else. There is a strong essence of player agency and freedom, providing you the feeling that you aren’t ever stuck. It’s comparable to Elden Ring in that regard.
As we all know, this genre is typically associated with difficulty; NiOh 3 is no exception, but it’s hardly unbearable. There were a few boss encounters where I questioned my ability to defeat them, but once I understood the mechanics, the correct time to switch fighting styles (samurai and ninja), and deflecting, fights became manageable. One boss I encountered, Kamaitchi, which I believe is optional, was frantic, engaging, and incredibly unique with some of its movements. It’s easily one of my favorite throughout the entire souls-like games on the market.
The combat is the real star of the show—a staple in this franchise. It’s arguably better than any souls-like, perhaps even superior to From Software games. There is so much variety on play, and the amount creative builds feel limitless. In the prior two games you acquired various weapon types, each with their own stance and skill trees to master. That core element is still present, but rather than being a samurai you can switch to a Ninja on the fly. In doing so, there is no Ki pulse or different stances; instead, you’re more versatile, nimble, quicker to dodge, and can use various magic abilities in addition to numerous weapons. It’s a fun mechanic that is seamlessly integrated in the enemies and bosses you fight, making you to have quick reflexes.
One complaint I’ve had in every NiOh game is the copious amounts of loot. It really can be exhausting trying to manage everything. Whilst it’s still prevalent, there are accessibility options to make life easier. You can adjust your settings so anything that you pick up can be sold, or disassembled from common, uncommon, legendary, and rare. You also get the choice to choose between common, uncommon, rare, and legendary, that way you won’t be overwhelmed (more than you have to). This helps ease the monotonous of pouring through lists and lists of what to keep or not.
All in all, NiOh 3 seems to be the culmination of all its trademarks, and a new beginning for the franchise. It builds upon its foundation, sharpening what sets it apart from its contemporaries, and tries something different. There may be a couple of stumbles along the way, but nothing too bad to negate the amount of positives the game offers. This will more than likely be in the GoTY discussion, and it will be justified. In my opinion, this is Team Ninja/Koei Tecmo’s best game yet.
I might be trying Everybody's Gone to The Rapture, depending on how Valentine's Day weekend goes, I could end up anywhere it's always a mystery. I finally finished and one hundred percent'd Infinite Wealth over the week and after that epic journey decided to try my first walking simulator. What Remains of Edith Finch was so good and so well written, so I tried another walking simulator 'The Invincible' which was absolutely brilliant and needs to be experienced by anyone who enjoys good sci-fi and intelligent narrative. It's based on the 1963 novel by Stanisław Lem. I'm hoping The Rapture delivers that same 'amazing', I'll know at some point this weekend. Happy gaming weekend folks.
@Kiefer-Sutherland Killer Frequency and Abiotic Factor were two of my favorite games of last year, Abiotic Factor gets better and better as you progress so stick with it if you think the start is a bit of a slog. Resource gathering gets a lot easier, food and drink too. Not to mention unlockable branching paths that make getting back to your base a breeze. There's a great story buried in there too. I played Half Life on PS2 after getting my hundred percent. I wanted to see if it really was paying homage to the greats and it was in spades.
Is anyone going to comment on how sony is trying to scam people via the new renting system?! Or that the console itself was jail broken at the start of the year? @get2sammyb
I'm going to play Kena: Bridge of Spirits to celebrate the amazing announcement of its sequel!
Mafia Df edition
My Copy of Nioh 3 finally arrived this morning so I shall be playing that until its finished now. I had started Dark Souls 3 last sunday whilst I was waiting for it to arrive and made it all the way to Pontiff which I was happy with in a week.
I also got the replacement PS3 set up so had a quick blast on Time Crisis 4 with the light gun. Also need to get some batteries and set up Guitar Hero again.
@Duck_Farmer Just wait till you hit FFVI as thats probably the best of the SNES era.
@MrPeanutbutterz How far into DS3 are you, I just reached Pontiff and I forgot how much I hate that guy, and Irithyll in general. Fume was bad enough but Fume on Crack is vile.
@Fiendish-Beaver How does it compare to the original Code Vein? I enjoyed the original despite it being a more basic souls like. I played with the 100% block greatsword in the original as I to suck at parries.
Very close now to my Death Stranding 2 platinum hopefully will get it done today
Nioh 3, almost in Act 3 and loving every second of it.
I'm also going to be doing some Guild Wars Reforged with chums!
But mostly just Nioh-ing.
Still playing Nioh 3, having a lot of fun with it.
I may also hop in and do a few runs in both Mewgenics and Darkest Dungeon.
Hoping to finish off MIO and wheel world this weekend so I can cross them off my backlog, thoroughly enjoyed both.
@KingPev thanks! Glad to hear it
It feels very much like the first game, @ilyn. I'm really enjoying the exploration side of things, which feels like it might be better than it was in the first game. There is a huge and confusing array of stats and things to get your head around when building your character, but I'm starting to understand that side of things now too. I'm not particularly far in the game; I have finished the tutorial island, which is not particularly big, and have just started on the second island (I'm not sure if there are more than two), and am yet to find the necessary item to upgrade the weapon I am using to level 2, but I imagine I'll find that relatively soon.
Because I suck at the parrying at the moment, I have gone down the over-levelling route, so that basic attacks hit harder, but it means that I can take on most enemies, even junior bosses with relative ease.
Honestly, if you enjoyed the first game, (even if you found it a tad confusing as I did!) then I think you will enjoy this one too...
After buttering up the Mrs with flowers and lunch I’ll be indulging in that most romantic of games… Diablo4 😁❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ happy Valentines dears
@get2sammyb Asking since issue 539 for a poll in the weekly posts. It would be so much better.
@MrPeanutbutterz just got Doom Dark Ages in the sale (£23) and totally agree. I'd have bought it day one if the demo hadn't been behind the PSN paywall. The arenas feel less areana-y so far
I finished Little Nightmares on steamdeck few days ago. Right after that I started first Hellblade game and will continue playing this on steamdeck- actually giving it 2nd try now, tried it first time few years back on PC but put it down for another game as I usually do. But now I'll try to finish it as I really like it and it's quite short game.
Apart from that, it's Valentine day so this evening will spend with my wife, probably watching some romantic as per her preference, drinking some wine...
Happy Valentine day and happy gaming, all!
Edit: tried demo for Darwin's Paradox and it's super fun, on my wishlist now.
I'm feeling a bit under the weather so I'm mostly watching the Lincoln lawyer s4 on Netflix. Cross series 2 has dropped on prime so I think I'll watch that too..maybe a teensy weensy bit of rally driving 🤔. Have a great weekend folks 👍
@GirlVersusGame We’ve played Abiotic Factor for about 3/4 hours and I’ve loved it straight from the start. So hearing it gets better as it goes makes me more excited to play it. I love everything about it so far! I’m really digging the Half-Life vibes too
I’m playing through Metal Eden right now. It’s a techno / cyber DOOM knock off but it’s quite fun and enjoyable. The graphics are quite good and the gameplay is fast and fluid. The guns are all fun to use and have a good feel to them. Definitely a solid recommendation if you’re into FPS games and enjoy the fast paced action of the DOOM games. Happy gaming this weekend everyone!
@GirlVersusGame the music in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is gorgeous (Jessica Curry), I listen to it a lot on Spotify
Just got myself a Logitech g923 wheel for a great price, so I'm playing lots of GT7, Dirt 2, and Forza Horizon 5
Playing Nioh 3 with my friends.
Co-op is so much fun...
Wife just bought me Split Fiction for Valentine’s Day! Will likely get into that when my son gets home from work. For now, it’s Division 2 solo and passing the controller with my wife on Astro Bot. It’s a family affair!! 💕
KCD1 the ps5 ver. that just came out this week
a few things im playing a little bit
Resident Evil 0's Leech Hunter for my Gamecube
Alpha Protocol or at least replaying Batman Arkham Origin for my Playstation 3
Dragon Quest III HD Remake for my Switch LIte
@ilyn Pontif was the last boss I put down! Irithyll is a chore for sure.
I've rinsed the Demon's Ruins, have reached both Profaned Capital and Anor Londo. Also at the third bonfire in Ashes of Ariandel.
PS5 - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Romeo is a Dead Man, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties (starting with Dark Ties)
Switch 2 - Fantasian Neo Dimension
Old age has finally caught up with me. I tried to get through the tutorial boss of Nioh 3 for 3 or so hours last night and just couldn't do it. Got close a few times but have to accept my Souls skills are just too slow now. Shame because I love the feel of the combat but that boss is just a twitchy skill check. I guess the game is more forgiving once you get past this skill check but I just couldn't crack that nut.
Nioh 3, I adore this game so much. It's open world absolutely works and each time I find a new area I look forward to exploring just as much as I do the combat. Finding the maze like level designs of 1 and 2 while out exploring cemented that I knew I was gonna love this game
I'm also playing MH Stories 1 alongside. The demo for 3 really got me excited to finally get into this series, having had this 1st game in my backlog for years lol. So far you can really tell it's a 3ds game 😂. But it's really fun. Just taking my sweet time completing quests, hatching new mons, and progressing the game
And last, still slowly but surely chugging away at DK Bananza. I feel like im about halfway done but I can't say for sure. This new layer I'm in has a really fun level gimmick tho so I'm enjoying it a lot
@Titntin Thank you sir. I’ve practically been sleeping for 3-4 days. I’m certainly ready to get on and live some life instead of being in bed!
I am currently playing God Of War: Ragnarok again in a New Game+ run I started and abandoned.
I make sure to play on my beautiful TV, which shouldn't perform as great as it does to the price, and boy... I am just completely blown away all over again at the graphical prowess of PS5 Pro and Santa Monica's artistry. Their world is so beautiful. Get a pro and this game if you haven't already.
I abandoned Dishonored 2 shortly before the excellent State of Play in the midst of a corvo-new game +-run. I am mostly done with this game I played 10 years too late to the launch party.
I am also playing the amazing DLC in Alan Wake 2. It remedied my experience with the game - that and I'm back on playing Saga which improves the game. Phenomenal in frequent and prolonged glimpses.
I might go with WWE25 just to play around before it goes away.
Nearly finished chapter 10 in RE4. Great time so far. Enjoy the weekend everyone
Finishing up Watch Dogs 2 platinum. I very much prefer the first game in terms of tone and theme. The crew in part 2 remind me of the crew in the Saints Row reboot which isn’t a compliment. Thankfully the gameplay is fun enough. Once that’s done it’s onto Sons of Sparta!
@DrVenture69 Yep picked it up in the same sale.
I do actually have Premium (as it auto renews every year for the price of Essential, so I'd be a fool not to keep it) and played the demo there. That sold me immediately on the game. But as you say, it's nonsense that the demo is gated behind Premium.
I've finished the first six chapters now, and so far there's been a nice variation to them all.
Nioh 3 has completely stolen my attention.
@themightyant yep, gradually working my way through all the pixel remasters.
@iPaud incredible remake
Playing forza horizon 5 abd ghosts of yotei again git I love ghosts of yotei incredible game have a great weekend all
Gravity Guy (Windows Phone) - Haven't picked it up for a few days now.
Equalicious (Windows Phone) - Finally made it past a few puzzles I was stuck on...
Asphalt Overdrive (Windows Phone) - Hasn't worked the last few times I've tried...
Romeo is a deadman
Halls of Torment on the Portal and Division 2 as my main.
Elder Scrolls Morrowind.
For the first time ever.
@Dorkthrone have you summoned help? I have been able to solo most bosses since, but I definitely summoned on that first one because you have so little gameplay options at that point.
@DrVenture69 If that's on your Spotify then you have very good taste in music. I've played about two hours worth of the game and that music you mentioned reminds me a lot of a piece called Spem in alium. Latin for 'hope in any other'. It's a Renaissance motet by the English composer Thomas Tallis (1500's) I've heard it live a couple of times. The music in that game is very similar, you might think so too if you heard that piece. It's performed by eight choirs with five voices each and many see it as the most important piece of early English music. I'd agree.
That's one of the best renditions you'll find of it on Spotify, the others fall flat compared to how it sounds live and The Oxford Camerata are one of the best when it comes to that kind of monophonic/plainchant. The same technique that would have been used in the game's soundtrack, which is why they sound so similar.
@Dissident I finally got him lol - and the summons definitely helped. There is just so little room for error in that fight, but I think I also had to really slow down and think about what I was doing and how the game works, so all in all it was a good experience. Definitely needed to get all of my Dark Souls thinking out of my head, and once I did that it started to click more. Anyway so glad I did because the open world is so fun, can't wait to sink my teeth into the rest of the game.
@GirlVersusGame i will definitely check that out 😀. Im a complete musical magpie, my spotify liked list has 3.5k (added individually, not by album) and it’s got everything from Slipknot to Swedish folk music (Ranarim)😄. I must admit, if someone had said ‘Hey, check out this choral music’ before i’d played the game, i might have taken some convincing!
@DrVenture69 I took some convincing by a tour manager to check out some Folk Metal, I never went to the sound checks and waited for them to go on that night. That band was Korpiklaani, then after that the others followed like Eluveitie, Turisas and Ensiferum. Before then Metal to me was Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, Venom etc, some Symphonic and Melodic and a lot of Apocalyptica and unhealthy amount of Screamo (noise)
We've talked about and shared some really random bands in the music thread. Sometimes back and forth for hours into the morning. There's some Slipknot there right now but it's done with animal sounds/dogs barking etc, crows on percussion. It was a weird night. I'll listen to anything, Classical and Metal are my go to. I'm going to check out Ranarim. Swedish Folk Music will be a change from Swedish Death Metal.
I'm only up to 502 on my Spotify list, 3.5K would be a feat. I tend to replay the same piece of music though and I couldn't do that for 3.5K tracks.
When I see those numbers I know it's time to make the list a little bigger. With a list that big you should share some stuff on the music thread, we're always finding new stuff and sharing.
@GirlVersusGame I always forget about the forums, they’re not that obvious when I’m on the phone. I’ll jump on tomorrow when I’m on the laptop. The Ranarim track I was thinking of was Maj Vare Valkommen, it’s such a happy little track (Hem Igen is cool too). That’s about 63 solid days on Vivaldi that you’ve got there! . I break mine down by playlists which makes is more manageable (I’ve also exported all my data and imported it into a Power BI report, being a bit of a data nerd).
Playing Sons of Sparta and finishing up RE4
Did some more on Nioh 3 as planned and its such a good game so far. My only comment is that its a touch on the easier side due to the new mechanics such as jumping, open world exploring, weapon reforging. It all allows you to build the exact character you want, and if you do everything does have you a higher level than the games expects you to be.
That said I dont think its bad being easier as it will allow more people to play the game as the skill ceiling is much lower than Nioh 2 which had a few really tough moments, especially early game. Its very much like Elden Ring in how the added customisations made it easier than DS3 in a lot of ways as you could be anything.
