Re: Poll: What Was the Best PS5 Game at State of Play?

Gamer83

Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis. Disappointed that it's a 2027 release, get it from the business side but still sucks. At least it's looking good.

Until Dawn 2 was a nice surprise. 99.9% of gamers will absolutely hate it, and rightly so because the first one is objectively not a good game either, but it is a guilty pleasure for me and 2 likely will be as well.

Re: James Bond Tops Another Chart, 007 First Light Was the Best-Selling Game on PS Store in May

Gamer83

Not surprised. I think people have been wanting a new Bond game for a bit and it being from the Hitman devs certainly didn't hurt. It's a good game but the more I've played the more it's become a distant third in my current rankings for favorite game of the year. Fun but flawed, very linear experience that guides the player far too much in certain places. Still way better than the other third person Bond games.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for June 2026?

Gamer83

It was ok. Part of the problem, and it's been this way for a good number of years now, is the leaks. It's unavoidable but it means these shows no longer hit like E3s of the past. Anyway, the only thing I was really interested in beforehand was a release date for Tomb Raider and while I'm glad we have one now, it's extremely disappointing that it's not this year.

Re: God of War Laufey Is the Next Main Entry in the Saga, 'Coming Soon' to PS5

Gamer83

I'm a fan of the God of War series but have zero interest in playing a game that doesn't star Kratos. Hopefully this is just a one off and it's back to business as normal for the one after. Unfortunately that's probably a good 5+ years away considering there's the remake of the original trilogy that really wasn't needed. It's cool but takes up time and resources.

Re: 8 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for May 2026 Announced

Gamer83

I'm always most interested in what the PS Plus Premium game will be and this month is a big one for me as Time Crisis is one of my favorite games of all-time. Really intrigued to see how it will be adapted to the Dual Sense and truly hope it works because if so that opens a treasure trove of classics from PS1 and 2 and ones that can be used in the Arcade Archives 1 and 2 and Console Archive lines.

Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens

Gamer83

Honestly, the real way things play out might be worse. I'm not against playing as an absolute p.o.s. in a game, big fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, but it has to be done right. I haven't played this game yet because I know I'll suck at it, just like with Returnal, and probably get too frustrated to complete it. Going to watch the cutscenes, though, to see how the storytelling is, if it's actually handled well or if it's some sort of preachy nonsense.

Re: Bring Down a Ring of Gold Diggers in PS5, PS4's Most Controversial Game Yet

Gamer83

It's an FMV game so I'm definitely not playing it but as far as the subject matter, there is literally nothing controversial here. If you're so hypersensitive to a video game like this existing, you don't know what real problems are. Then again, I should be used to people whining about any and all video games these days, they make every single release out like it has to be some social commentary.

Re: 'Did Not Work': The First Descendant Considered a Failure by Its Developer

Gamer83

I'm all about the kind of designs they had for the female characters but you need more than that to keep me playing. I'm more into true single player campaigns with an entertaining story (doesn't have to be good, just fun) anyway, so to be fair to TFD, it was going to be difficult to keep me intrigued even if the gameplay was as awesome as say Bungie-era Halo. The main problem is, the gameplay isn't great so even if it had a campaign, I don't see the point with so many better third person shooters out there.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 626

Gamer83

@somnambulance
Definitely interested to see what I think about the final chapters of the game when I get there. No matter what, though, I'm happy I purchased the game now rather than wait for a physical copy (which I will get if they eventually make one), it's been a blast. Agree it's a lot less janky than Suda 51's previous games but in comparison to other modern action games you can still tell the difference. Crazy enough, that appeals to me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 626

@somnambulance
Oh yeah, I've definitely been having fun playing Romeo is a Dead Man. Typical Suda 51 and Grasshopper weirdness, the gameplay is a bit janky, which I expected, but still a blast once you get used to it. The lower review score didn't deter me, I enjoy the game more than many that I've played which are rated 90+ and if holds up through to the end (about halfway through), this may top No More Heroes 1 as my favorite game from that dev team. Would've likely completed it fairly quickly but I bought not long before getting RE and that has taken a lot of my attention.

Re: Feb 2026 USA Sales: PS5 Outsells Nintendo's New Switch 2 for a Second Consecutive Month

Gamer83

@somnambulance
I agree with you for sure about the lineup but I don't think it's that Nintendo hasn't made enough people realize NS2 is a new console and more the idiotic pricing. $450, or $500 for a bundle, is fair but high, especially for the type of consumer who usually buys Nintendo products. Those people with 3+ versions of the NS1, won't be doing the same this time around. Then there's the $80 games (insane), $90 Pro Controllers (more insane), $100 joy cons (even more insane) and, most asinine of all, $40 Amiibo. If Nintendo had charged $400 for the unit itself, $450 for the bundle and Mario Kart World was $70. I think you'd see a lot different reaction than what's going on right now.

The key cards also haven't helped. Physical buyers thought that Nintendo would keep supporting true physical for another gen and all they ended up doing was giving devs an excuse not to. Silly or not, many view that as a betrayal.
