Best state of play that I can remember. An easy A, possibly an S rank
Best in a long time I think. Some great updates and new announcements.
Excellent, best one in ages
Best. State of Play. Ever.
Truly the first time I can grade it Excellent without any caveats.
Lovely showcase, great variety, nice announcements. Happy about Rayman! Great stuff.
Solid A for me! There were a ton of announcements, and surprises. 2D God of War is finally real, and I will definitely be playing it tonight! And of course, the highlight of the show for me is a new Castlevania! It looks incredible.
That's was an excellent showing 9/10, best state of play so far. Just missing that one special trailer to make a 10/10.
Great state of play. Lots of games i'm excited for, especially Kena!
Meh, some interesting titles but too many remakes, and ending was disappointing.
It's a 9 out of 10.so many games.good stuff son.word up son
Excelent state of play!
Not a single surprise or new game releasing THIS year that excited me, so disappointed.
But at the same time, RE9, Crimson Desert and Saros will keep me busy over the next few months so I won't complain.
Might be the best SoP of the entire Gen and it felt more like a showcase then a usual SoP. That GoW Remake reveal with the OG Kratos himself had my jaw dropped.
So what was Santa Monica doing for the past four years?
Also I look forward to God of War Trilogy Remake on PS6 in 6 years. I thought the industry learned from flashing a JPG and saying "Now In Development"
Easily the best they’ve had in years. Great stuff 👍
Konami is backer than ever before.
Great show!
OH MY GOD WE ARE SO F*CKIN BACK!!!
I gave it an 8 would've given it a 10 if they announced the kcd upgrade, it was good though
I was more excited over the Trilogy remaster than that new God Of War thing. But Ive wrote a list of all the games that look interesting and my wallet will cry
Excellent. Neva, Control, Saros, God of War, Kena, Silent Hill…crazy
Probably the best one they ever had, it's for the best they left Horizon Hunters Gathering out of it.
Though at the same time wonder what GG thinks of Sony's decision to do so.
@Haruki_NLI I wouldn't be surprised if their team was split in three, one for a brand new game, one for the trilogy remake and one small team for the 2.5D game.
A really great State of Play. Konami showing everyone that they're back in a big way.
Also really cool to see TC Carson coming back for the GoW Trilogy Remakes.
Great show. Lots of games I'm hyped for including some new stuff. A new Kena was a truly nice surprise to start on. Finally getting MGS 4 on PS5 is awesome and though I didn't need to see more to be convinced, Resident Evil Requiem continues to look like it will easily be my favorite Game of the Year and probably this entire generation.
Possibly the best state of play they done
Pretty much the definition of good but not great. Some nice surprises and good gameplay shown off but also too long with a lot of filler. Solid, but not spectacular.
Amaze-balls fair play
First half was better tha the 2nd but still one of the best Sop's in a looong time. Was still hoping for a Tomb Raider trailer though!
I’d say the show was excellent. Stand outs for me were Kena 2, Saros was fire, Tokon still looking good, and i am actually liking Marathon more and more. Project Windless looked hilariously awesome, that new Castlevania, Silent Hill Townfall, and John Wick!
I was hyped for the GoW 2.5D game, but that actually looked a bit dissapointing to me, i’m more excited for that trilogy remake!
Honestly one of the best state of plays I’ve seen. I get they can’t all be this good but this was a masterpiece
Well you can't say Sony don't have games this year.
The best in a while and it's not even close. I'm not even mad we didn't get a little FF7 of Intergalactic tease
Absolutely excellent. If anything too much good stuff lol 👍🏻
Good, but no VR sadly. Wasn’t expecting John Wick, could be cool. And the jrpg looked good. Getting excited for Saros as well, I like me a roguelike.
Also really happy about having the good GoW back! Hope it isn’t re-imagined for modern “sensibilities”
Legit banger. Could have gone for a few more indie reveals or console ports though
10/10 hands down. Never been a better time to be a Pony
3/10 max. Maybe I'm expecting too much but it just felt like a show Sony put on mostly because they had obligations to do so from third parties.
Now some of those third party games were interesting but I am not watching a Sony showcase for those.
It was a good one for me. But i am quite disappointed by the lack of Square Enix.
9/10 no cap for real
I was like:
“Oh my f****** god, I’m going to spend so much money”
… looked at my watch, it had only been 20 minutes 😅
Very solid showcase. This is what a State of Play should feel like. I think, as far as the games go, there’s only a couple I’m personally interested in, but the variety and presentation is what we need out of these. It’s a 9/10 for me. There’s something for everyone here in some capacity.
For me it’s mgs4 the highlight
Pleasantly surprised. That was really good.
Best in a long time
That game with the chicken character hacking and slashing looks amazing. I’m fully in on the new Control game after seeing the latest footage.
I didnt expect Time Crisis as PS+
The others State of Plays were so bad that they make this one seem like it's incredible. Honestly was pretty average. Nothing really that exciting. We keep getting remakes and remasters.
Okay just for that Castlevania reveal.
This one was not bad tbh. I give it a 8.
New Requiem trailer, new Castlevania and Darwin's Paradox are the highlights for me
Best one in a very long time that’s for sure.
Excellent SOP overall. Some great trailers and excited for the games shown. Just wish there was less Devs talking, those parts are always dull and usually just telling us what the trailers already shown us.
Control Resonant gameplay stole the show. Absolutely. Cannot. Wait.
Excellent! That was the best SoP to me.
@BusyOlf Looked like Inception to me lol
fantastic state of play even though that cartoonish love fest for god of war was amateurish at best at the end.
The poorest, for my own personal tastes, in a while (JRPG's/ Simulation/ Sports/ Big hitters like Pragmata, 007 First Light, GTA 6, Crimson Desert, Wolverine, Fable, Forza 6).
I saw a lot of previously announced game trailers, remakes/remasters.
Yeah, i really enjoyed this one. Great to see Konami’s back, and great to see Sony teaming up with other developers to think of fresh new directions for their ip. Well done, Sony!
That was a CRACKING show!
I give it an Excellent rating! 10 out of 10!
I only expect Tokon new characters and predict Yotei Legend mode and i got both. But holy smoke, Sony really go beyond!
Like dang, a new Castlevania game?!
DOA 7?!
GoW trilogy remake, not remastered, and a 2D Metroidvania one?!
A Tenchu spiritual successor?!
Anyone who give this show a "poor" rating are fking trolls. Period.
Ok that was pretty freakin good.
New Castlevania is awesome. I'll take the God of War trilogy remake but they've nothing to show so why even announce it this early. 😂 The rest is meh or it's something we already knew.
Comparing to latest ones, definetely the best in years maybe. Still I didn't get too excited about anything tbh. 7-7.5 feel right. GoW Remake being in "early development" is crazy! Like what were you waiting for? GoW metroidvania is not I expected and looks a bit boring, hopefully it's good. I think the game I liked most was Control: Resonant. Also that Castlevenia excited me much more than GoW one...
This is going to be a big year for Sony, several decent exclusives both first and third party. Some live service games across console, pc and mobile that could be huge hits that Sony need. Microsoft launching their new flagship titles on Playstation, and GTA 6 releasing during the holiday season. Those consoles are going to be flying off the shelves.
you had the excellent konami presentation new kena game new john wick game will be fun the marvel fighting game and a remake not a remaster of the greek trilogy in which fans have been wanting for a long time.
Some good trailers today. I'm most excited for the Kena sequel for sure.
I wouldn't be surprised if the GoW Trilogy Remake is being handled by Bluepoint working with Santa Monica. They already helped with Ragnarok and were working with the IP for years after on the live service game that got cancelled last year.
Holy ***** at last Sony deliver stuff i want !!
Very very good. Didn't waste loads of time hyping up trash like marathon and got down to the good stuff. Konami potentially pulling off a capcom redemption arc is a very welcome turn of events.
I thought it was really good. I'm kinda shocked to see so much positivity though, everybody usually hates these things. Maybe the world is healing.🖖
@Vipor007
I loved the original. Played it so much in the arcades and then refined my runs on PS1. It can’t work with a reticule though. The only tech that can do this game justice and better the original is VR, and Sony sadly don’t seem interested.
9/10
Konami has honestly made a huge comeback and everything from the Rayman remaster to SH Townfall to the 2D God of War was amazing. So much good stuff in this SoP.
Easiest poll so far, excellent all the way. Quantity, quality, variety and some solid surprises. You can't really ask for much more. And they've got Wolverine and Intergalactic for later State of Plays.
It was just ok. I'm sick and tired of seeing re and pragmata everywhere even tho I'm already gonna purchase them most likely. I'm even more sick of the ones I'm most likely not going to
I liked the brigandine game and Konami making a new jrpg. Mgs 4 was hype, I was gonna emulate it but definitely gonna buy that now. Personally don't like how the new castlevania looks but it's still new castlevania so that's cool. Oh yea John wick could be neat actually
Greatest State of Play of all time. PlayStation knocked this one out of the park.
Wow that was actually an awesome sop. So many great games on the way.
I was just disappointed that there was now info on PSSR2, but opening with Kena already made my entire day.
@Judal27 if you like dead cells you will love the new castlevania game..
Praying that the GOW Trilogy Remake isn't the main project from Santa Monica. Surely Cory Barlog is working on a new IP and that will be announced at a later date.. right?!
I won’t go into all the games that interested me, but this was the best State of Play I’ve seen in a while
I didn't watch it but from the announcements I've been reading it was fine. Big "quick announce Elder Scrolls VI in case they don't like Fallout Online" energy to announcing God of War remakes that don't exist. Still, it's nice to know first party is doing something.
Lot of things we'd already seen. Castlevania was nice. Yeah. Pretty alright I guess!
@4fold I remember getting it for Xmas with the Gun Con and the extra game levels looked decent
As soon as we start doubting Sony with all the Live service drama and Lukewarm Co-op announcements, they punch us in the mouth and remind us who is boss!!!! Amazing 10/10 for me. Sony is indeed boss
Best one in a good while, a lot of games and updates to look forward too. I liked it
Nothing for me personally, just remakes almost and games I have no interest in. I played the OG GOW games when they came out. Nice to see remakes but not for me. Didn’t watch all of it though so may need to and see if any games do interest me.
Very good. That Castlevania game looked so much like Dead Cells that I'll probably try it, and if the God of War Trilogy is where the series begins? then maybe I'll finally have a way to give the series a go. Kena 2 was definitely unexpected, and hopefully that game with the rubix cube for a boss doesn't cost people their jobs.
It almost felt like an old fashioned E3 presentation. 9/10.
Brigandine: Abyss and the new JRPG from Konami, yes please.
9/10, Excellent from start ot finish!
I missed the show because life is a pain sometimes, but it sounds like there were some awesome announcements!
It was ok but I voted poor. Good is a strong word and I don't like many of the gameplay subpar directions of games and haven't for the past 2 console generations.
Kena 2 is good, not a fan of how they change character's faces but still. Honestly the most exciting game there. The others were fine updates or demos but otherwise not much.
Most were 'new' but also a lot of 'big scale' or 'big IPs' or other stuff I have no interest in, the gameplay isn't appealing or THERE, just visuals/story, the things I ALREADY DON'T CARE ABOUT. Company's playbooks are getting very boring day by day. Can they offer something 'exciting' for once? No, ok then.
Which is telling as I hate many western Indies too (their mentality to game design, in SOME genres, adventure games are brilliant, platformers/racing/shooters are trash and worst they have ever been, other genres are decent by them) and many Asian Indies vary in quality too.
Control Resonant looked 'better' kind of Prototype vibes, fair building jumping and different angles vibe, not much though, it looks 'better' but not much more exciting to me.
The rest were ok updates, ok of Tenchu universe or whatever as an isometric style which is something.
007 looks nice still.
Dead or Alive 6 Last Round is hilarious of Koei Tecmo to do, but 'oh we have a new game but nothing to say' wow that's not going to annoy people. XD
More Konami stuff I didn't care for. I'll just enjoy Coded Arms, Love Plus, GTI Club and Enthusia myself and just ignore their current era releases. Their new JRPG and further Darwin stuff was 'fine' but not great. I thought it would be a new Suikoden but apparently not.
More horror, more apocalypse games, more other stuff, I really don't care, gameplay looks boring in a lot of games these days. Just flashy visuals and look at the world/characters, the gameplay is still boring in them. SO why should i buy 'games' when they don't have 'exciting gameplay' to them.
I can watch a tv show/movie for visuals and story, not a game.
But otherwise not a lot here I care for.
God of War's 2D game artstyle is 'fitting' but not great. That aside I am interested in it. One of the FEW times Sony has offered something I 'may' want to play.
3rd parties really haven't and Sony themselves really haven't for me at all all 9th gen or even latter parts of 8th gen. To me 8/9th are the worst gens for me there just wasn't anything that great in them, passable stuff sure but eh.
A remake trilogy, while cool and not just PS4's God of War 3 or the other entries on PS+/digital emulation, I'm passing on this trilogy I already bought all the games for PS3/PSP/PS4 (not some PSP, not Vita collection and not the first 2 on PS2) and have no interested in them remaking/remastering them. I can go back to my older consoles if I care. It's nice to see the series older entries offered on PS5 but I am not interested 'yet' in a purchase for them. Like Gears series I'll pass on this modern purchase 'currently'.
(RIP PSP entries unless they do another duology collection with them or include Ascension in there).
Oh well back to playing odd Indies, retro games with more exciting gameplay mechanics/level design and trashy modern FMV games then it seems. XD
Not much to my interest, personally, but pretty decent overall. The new Castlevania is the one that caught my interest the most out of the new announcements.
All I am going to say is, if you voted "Poor" or "Very Poor" this is more of an self-evaluation of you as a human being that the snow... Exactly 1-2 games me(pretty deep in PS stuff) and my friend(not a massive PS fanboy) were not hyped about or at least interested in...
It was a great show. Slightly disappointed over the lack of SE games but there's a lot of great announcements. Also, MGS4 is finally back!
Excellent lots of games I'm looking forward to. The first time I've said that this Gen
No Onimusha update, but I get that they want to focus on REquiem and Pragmata. Both of those trailers were great, though I'm disappointed in the lack of Requiem demo.
Silent Hill: Townfall surprised the heck out of me. What little they showed looks fantastic. I still don't like the fact that it's not tied to SH the town, however. The "Silent Hill Phenomenon" retcon rubs me the wrong way.
I was hoping for technical specifics on MGS4. If it runs at a locked 60, it'll be a day one purchase for me. Otherwise, I'll replay the PS3 version and continue to be happy with it.
A pretty OK show all things considered.
@Ashina I wouldn't expect Square Enix to show up much on Sony's shows going forward, they are currently brown nosing Nintendo.
a new kena and dead or alive, only rating option should be excellent
Decent third party showcase. In reality though there was very little that was new.
Looking forward to control 2 and Saros if it releases day and date on pc. Cautiously optomistic for bond, and maybe even kena, and sh town fall.
In reality though most of this sop was just marketing fluff. The shadow drop of a side scrollers play as kid pre God version of the god of war with spear was pretty lame though. I'm all for a side scrolling GOW, but have no interest in this.
SEGA Atlus, Nihon Falcom and Square Enix are my 3 favourite publishers, but none of them were featured. It was still pretty good though, sprinkled with a few surprises.
MGS4 and Peace Walker HD being freed from PS3 exclusivity is a pretty big deal.
I liked the first Kena enough despite never finishing it, why not a second.
Crimson Moon looked neat, so did that rooster musou game.
Uhh, hope for the best on DoA7 but I have no expectations until I see how they're approaching it. I just bought DoA6 on sale not too long ago, not buying it again.
Castlevania looks alright, looks like Dead Cells. New Silent Hill will probably suck but they're always welcome to prove me wrong.
2D God of War cool, cool. And Saros looks ***** sick.
They didn't even spend that much time on Concord 3, not too shabby a presentation at all. Beats the hell out of that recent Nintendo Direct easy
@johnedwin I've never played it and it's never really interested me enough to do so. The only metroidvanias I care enough of to play are the 2 in the genre name lol. But ive been trying to get into hollow knight and a few others here and there. I might give dead cells a try sometime
One of the best ones in a long time. Can't wait to hear more about God of War Trilogy remake. Can't wait for Kena sequel
Nearly 40% excellent that’s what I like to see PlayStation 5 is coming into its own
Hardly s*** from Sony, but everything else was great.
2D God of War looks kinda lame, unfortunately...
Holy crap Saros handles just like returnal am buzzin 🙌 Remember what a joy it was to shoot around in that game?!
So far on around 6 but I only go by Sony studios games, exclusive to PS / PC.
Take out 3rd party games on other consoles like RE9 etc and I think Kena was left that made me think yes.
If it wasn’t for the PS5 Pro pure quality visually when done correctly like GOY and ACS and FH5 to name a few, Sony would not have me by the balls.
That was absolutely fantastic, easily the best State of Play in years. Leagues better than that awful PlayStation Showcase they held in 2023, where they announced Fairgames and the Gran Turismo movie.
Sony knocked it out of the park with this one. Interested in most of the games here.
Best state of play ever, and the new god of war sons of Sparta Is amazing
@Mattock1987 calling an ending disappointing that has a new God of War game shadow dropped is a Wild take. I swear some people will just never be happy
Yeah, that was a fantastic State of Play. A little light on the first party announcements, but the third party stuff made up for it.
Easy 8.5 - 9/10
This is by far the best State of Play I've seen. Take notes, Nintendo; people want to see new games to get excited for the year ahead, not games that have been available on all other systems!
Wouldnt consider Kena a big announcement.
It was good overall. The GoW music really took me back 20 years. Looking forward to the remake, just hope they don't go altering things. The 2d game looked meh to me.
Marathon looked absolutely woeful. I can't see that lasting very long even with Bungie's excellent gunplay.
Looks like Silent Hill is trying the RE first person formula.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Metal Gear Solid Vol 2 MGS4. God of War Trilogy Remake. God of War Sons of Sparta Out Now. New Castlevania etc. One of the best State of Play's for a while excellent.
Would've been great if we got some kingdom hearts news
That was easily the best State of Play ever. Start with Kena and end with the two God of War announcements. Good form start to finish.
Also that new Jrpg by Konami looked pretty good, sleeper hit in the State of Play. Also the game from Krafton with the chicken warrior looked badass.
Tokon looked awesome(Magick looked badass and so did Wolverine), Control looked cool, Saros looked awesome and Ghost of Yotei Legends. Also shoutout to Darwin Paradox, that game looks fun.
Absolutely excellent! I can't believe DOA is back! Very exciting! MGS4 is free from PS3 prison. Kena 2 looks incredible. Really interested in just about...well everything! Couldn't ask for more.
really enjoyable, thanks PlayStation 👌🏻
My rule is if there are two games i plan to buy it's a hit. By that standard this was massive
Kena
Gow remake
Sons of Sparta looked njce too
Saros
Control
Chicken game
The konami segment.
Yotei legends looks fun
Marathon has the sauce
The one that didnt hit is 4Loop. It's looking more interesting but I don't see what Sony sees in this.
I found it underwhelming, too much generic looking games, online shooty live service. Huge dependence on ports and old games.
The 2D god of war game does nothing for me either.
What a weird time to be a PlayStation gamer im more excited to play Xbox ports.
Showcase was unbelievable
About a 7.5, maybe dropping to a 7 after seeing that God of War game is a whole £25.
High production values on the show itself, great games shown, I didn't fall asleep but in fact was quite enveloped throughout. I rate it highly.
Marathon was sooo cool. I think the latest trailer sold me on joining in, shelling out and donning whatever cape they'll give me.
007 looks amazing. I was already onboard.
John Wick looked very cool. Love Keanu! Kena was amazing, like a Pixar movie. Saros showed the studio has evolved a lot and are leaning into AAA territory. Control: Resonate was Devil May Sci-fi! I am actually as of today currently playing Lake House DLC which is AWEsome (get it?) and leans into Control vibes. Amazing DLC that is a joy to go through. It is very great graphics and special effects on a Pro.
Also played GOW: Ragnarok after the show to celebrate a marquis PlayStation Studio entry to PS Plus by Spider-Man 2. What an excellent graphical experience on a good TV + PS5 Pro.
sony hit it out of the park with this one
god of war trilogy remake did not expect that..
even rgt who does not like sony said this showcase was unbelievable that is praise indeed from the switch/xbox youtuber..
Lots here to like. Well paced and enjoyable show. The PS studio reveals were more or less as expected although the GOW remake trilogy and Kena were surprises. Liked what I saw. I wasn't expecting to see wolverine or intergalactic tonight so no disappointment there, and Yotei legends looks excellent. good to see MGS 4 coming up at last. Long overdue.
That was easily the best show I’ve seen in years.
You’d be lying if you said this wasn’t at minimum okay. To me, it was excellent. One of the best State of Plays by Sony maybe ever. Proof that Sony shouldn’t force these. They should just put them together when they know they have banger content
Solid but unspectacular for me. Nothing wow'd me, a few somewhat interesting reveals amongst a lot of filler. Kena 2 probably the best new reveal, that did look like a upgrade in scope and scale from a very decent first entry. still think that Darwins paradox looks like one of the most interesting games everytime it is shown, reckon that will be a sleeper hit.
More i see of Saros, the less convinced I am, feels like they're making it more accessible as with the majority of big 2dt party titles which basically means making it easy and non-challenging. Housemarque games have thrived off being challenging so really hope that is not the case as that is the only thing that could ruin what should be a banker of a hit.
Really really good. I'd give them a solid 9/10. It made me feel very excited about the future of Playstation, especially with God of War Trilogy Remake. Everyone saying "meh, it's ok" or whatever gets a 0/10 from me
For the first time in a long time it feels like Konami is actually starting to go back to their old selves. Although I wasn't a big fan of the art style of the new castlevania still MGS4 on modern systems, another Silent Hill and Castlevania as well as two new games is a good showing from them.
I thought it was a solid showcase. Kena sequel was a nice start before giving us updates on games we've been hearing about non-stop for the last 6 months (Capcom and Yotei Legends). DS2 PC release, whatever. Some underwhelming announcments. Control 2, while cool, skeptical about performance. People forget how Control 1 was a mess at launch. Almost unplayable. The steroid chicken game I don't understand what the gameplay experience is supposed to be. Is it like dynasty warriors? Galactic Racer looks better than GA reveal. Konami showcase was a big deal. More Castlevania games coming? Gameplay of the GoW trilogy would have really put this over the top. What kind of remake are we getting? They reworking it to be like 2018 GoW? Son of Sparta is not the 2D GoW I was expecting.
For me it's an A- simply because they didn't announce any real big new game. Otherwise it's an A+ or close to.it. I wish I had more time to play!
It was definitely the best one they've done in awhile.
9/10 best SoP ever, was basically a showcase in all but name, so many games for me in it!
For me, this is the closest you can get to a 10/10 direct short of a Little King's Story remake or actually revealing Persona 6.
Going in order: while I'm not a Legacy of Kain fan myself, the fact that the remake includes a beta for an unreleased game is incredible, Brigandine looks sick, Dead or Alive is back with a re-release and a sequel, the Gamefreak game looks great as ever, Rayman 30th anniversary is really neat, excited for Mina the Hollower at some point, Metal Gear collection is really exciting and comes with Ghost Babel, Metal Octo Solid looks neat, CASTLEVANIA LIVES!!!, Silent Hill isn't my thing, but cool for the people who care about it, Rev.Noir looks like a day one buy, both PS+ additions are amazing, Tokon finally has some new characters who all look incredible, God of War Trilogy Remake might finally get me into that franchise, and that new 2D also looks really neat. I really can't ask for much more out of one of these, easy Excellent.
Amazing show. One of the best in a long time.
If we stack it against the last few years, excellent. Didn't seem to be full of shovelware
Very enjoyable overall. Some great games coming this year!
That’s like being the best of the worst. I’m disappointed. Very disappointed. Glad I didn’t wait till I got home to just watch it before I read about it. The god of war remake would have been great if it wasn’t another title years and years away. At least mgs 4 is freed.
I thought it was good, but aside from RE Requiem, there wasn't that 1 single game that got me massively exited (for me this year it will likely be Wolverine which wasn't fearured).
Was busy tonight but just caught up with it.
Absolute belter of a state of play. 9/10.
Over 30 games announced, I was interested in over 20 of them and at least 10 are possible day 1 purchases. That’s a lot of great games. Lots of surprises, Kena, Castlevania, John Wick, Shinobi Ops, Project Windless and more, my only real complaint was it felt like one more big thing was missing at the end which would have elevated it to legendary status. But that’s nit picking. So many great looking games.
Lots of great reveals, Castlevania and Legacy of Kain hot freshness...yeah that was a 9 or so, for me.
One of the best!
even xbox youtubers are praising sony for this state of play wow did not expect that..
82% votes combines of excellent, very good, and good. Nice to see some positive vibe on this site, especially after all the crying and throwing tantrum from Horizon: Hunters Gathering news.
@Buckeye4Life2015 there are too many metroidvanias available to the extent that making a new one is lazy and derivative. We all wanted a proper new GOW game, preferably one that follows from Ragnarok
The best State of Play they've ever had in my opinion. Only PlayStation Showcases have had more exciting games from Sony for me personally. Very impressed!
An absolute banger.
No multiplayer bullcrap this time - excellent!
Fantastic show, from top to bottom. Teared up a little when TC showed up, ngl
I caught up with it this morning and it was great, Konami has fully woken up from its slumber, with Castlevania and another Silent Hill spinoff, RE9 showed a few more glimpses of what's to come, Star Wars Racer looked good, I'm happy to see Dead or Alive back, God of War. A brilliant show
Hell yes, best State of Play in long years!
Dare we hope Sony is getting back on track?
Time will tell if this was a one time thing or a proper Sony Reboot
For now though, congrats to them! This was a State of Play that made me feel proud once again to be part of the Playstation ecosystem!
It was pretty good.
Standouts to me were Kena, Castlevania, Star Wars Galactic Racers, John Wick and finally getting MGS4 out of PS3-exclusivity.
Bond and Resident Evil still look good, but I feel like I've already seen enough of them. As a part of this it's more of a reminder than an announcement.
A shadow-dropped God of War spinoff is cool - but while I'm very interested in a Greek Trilogy Remake, saying "We're doing this" doesn't move the dial for me. At all. It reeks of a Bethesda-esque "Elder Scrolls 6 is in development"-announcement. You don't get brownie-points for declaring intent. "Show don't tell", and all that.
Probably good.
I don't think any of the games shown were my cup of tea, except for Marvel Tokon, which made my day by adding Magik, Danger and seemingly team related finishers ^_^
Banger after banger after banger.
If you were disappointed by what was shown, might be time to give up gaming
I rated it excellent - and would like to add to the reaction I had last night.
Possibly Sony's best SoP yet, definitely one of their top best for sure.
Nine of ten.👌
Umm, while there were a lot of decent looking games, most of them were third party and not exclusive to playstation.
What are all the Sony Studios up to - Bluepoint, Santa Monica, Media Molecule etc?
We have got Saros and Wolverine this year (oh and Marathon - but that's looking like it'll be another live service flop) but beyond that? Still got no idea.
I haven’t been watching these for too long, but I have to imagine they’ve either been absolutely horrible or non existent with the amount of drooling in the comments over this one. I’d say it was a solid B/+, was good overall, nothing more, nothing less.
I think you have to hand it to Sony and say that that was a fantastic State of Play. Like, really great. Control resonant is looking incredible
Even though it was mostly third party i thought it was a great show so many games im looking forward too!
This was great!
I didn't expect much, after most of these have been disappointing, but I'm glad I watched it.
Very good State of Play with lots of games that stood out.
Kena looks visually stunning and an overall improvment from the first game.
LoK Defiance should be fun but its cruel torture giving us the demo for the unreleased sequel.
Control Resonant should be good but I wasn't convinced by the amount of fog in that showing. It just made everything look blurry, especially in the boss fight.
Project Windless Mega Chicken thing, just take my money!
007 First Light The game looks good and the trailers all really feel like a classic bond adventure. The only thing I am not sold on is Bond as the character just doesn't seem quite right. He just feels like he has American mannerisms rather than the more dry British personality.
SH Townfall looks good, the scottish fishing village is really helping add to the creepy nature.
Other games that are caught my eye 4Loop, Brigandine Abyss, Galactic Racers, Rev Noir, Marathon all look like they have potential even if they are not all my sort of game.
Good time merchantry 👍 big fat yellah thumbs up
Sony does what Nintendont. That state of play destroyed the lasts few directs.
It gets an Excellent from me for having 3 games I am very interested in!
Finally getting a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits and it being funded by PlayStation is something I was begging for since 2022, so to see it be a reality had me in complete and utter disbelief.
@Mattock1987 and we're obviously gonna get it. But they said this was a side passion project. It's not taking the development away from the proper sequal
That was most excellent.
This is probably one of the best State of Plays we've ever had. An absolute steady stream of bangers, very few games that made me go "Uhh, ok I guess?" like half of the stuff at Nintendo's most recent Partner Showcase.
I can understand why a lot of people were hyped by this, but there were only a couple of games that interested me. It feels like what’s popular now just doesn’t jibe with my preferences, but that’s what backlogs are for!
It was excellent for me when they announced Kena 2 no matter what came next
Was very good but where is the darwin paradox demo on ps5?
I said it when I first played Kena: Bridge Of Spirits
Sony should buy Ember Lab!!
They would have been a hell of a lot cheaper than Bungie, and after seeing Kena Scars Of Kosmora, it would have been a MUCH BETTER INVESTMENT!!!!
The best in a long while.
Meh.
Kena & John Wick were great surprises.
Not really interested in PC announcements for games already released, or games we’ve already had gameplay showcases for.
@IOI ngl, I read that in Comic Book Guy's voice.
I was honestly surprised at how invested I was into this State of Play, espicially as someone who doesn't have a PS5 or intends to get one.
I really enjoyed this State of Play, even when there were games that disinterested me, it was followed up by a game that did take my interest.
@Buckeye4Life2015 yes it is taking time and resources away from a proper sequel. There’s always an opportunity cost.
@Mattock1987 except it was developed by Mega Cat studios. So I can't imagine Santa Monica put too much time into it aside from just being a helpful resource for them.
@Buckeye4Life2015 fair enough, I didn’t know that, the trailer was preceded by the Santa Monica studios logo. Objection withdrawn, defeat admitted
Not many games that interest me but great value
I finally got a PS5 in the past week, and having watched this State of Play, I feel like I couldn’t have joined at a better, more exciting time! Castlevania is back!
