Resident Evil Requiem PS5

Resident Evil Requiem has now sold more than six million units since its 27th February 2026 release, and it's the fastest any entry in the series has taken to reach the milestone.

The game managed to sell five million copies during its first week on the market across physical and digital storefronts, and after two weeks of availability, it's selling better than any other game in the franchise. Capcom shared the news in a press release, where it also teased plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Resident Evil.

With the anniversary taking place on 22nd March 2026, the publisher "is readying various plans for this anniversary to delight series fans, such as a collaboration between Universal Studios Japan and Resident Evil Requiem in 2026, and orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe". To that end, there may be more news shared publicly at the end of the week.

With the base game now out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Capcom will continue to support Resident Evil Requiem with free updates and a premium story DLC. It's already confirmed there'll be a Photo Mode added, a new mode in May, and a narrative-focused expansion that "delves deeper into the world of Requiem".

As well as strong sales, the game has been met with critical acclaim, earning a Metacritic rating of 89 on PS5 after 128 critic reviews.
