Yeah, the 'boycott' of Hogwart's Legacy should've proved it's all noise. And earlier this year there was the controversy of Switch 2 prices and people saying they weren't going to buy it and it was going to flop, yet recent numbers show it's off to a strong start. Nobody should be shocked Yotei, a game from a well-liked studio, sold well.

Cool. Always look forward to seeing what Japanese devs are working on.

All depends on the release schedule. Right now I'm playing Ninja Gaiden 4 and Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Obviously not horror games.

Pre-ordered a disc copy which doesn't come out until December, but, glad to learn the game turned out well, not that I expected less from Digital Eclipse. A little disappointing about some of the omissions, have a feeling they're being saved for DLC.

Bought the 30th Anniversary Edition. Haven't tried the new World Stage single player mode yet but look forward to it.

I'll get the Deluxe Edition. My second most anticipated game right now after Metroid Prime 4.

On fun factor, 10/10. I still need to get better at the game, some of the bosses have been pretty challenging but very satisfying when I do figure it out. As far as the regular battles, they're awesome, and make you feel really bada**.

Wow, just played it for the first time in a long time, but yeah, it does still hold up phenomenally well. My second favorite in the series behind Tekken 5.

Bought the Deluxe Edition, happy to see it get a good review here although (and, yes, I realize it's different reviewers!) I'm a bit surprised it scored the same as Ninja Gaiden 4. Anyway, I enjoyed the D3Publisher games I have played, Onechanbara Z2 Chaos, Origins and Samurai Maiden and decided to give benefit of the doubt on this since it looked cool.

It'd be cool if it had trophies but this is definitely not a deal breaker.

Been looking forward to this one since it was announced. Seems like Metal Gear Rising with a Ninja Gaiden skin. Not exactly what I would've expected for an NG game but still should be fun.

Yeah, I think it was a mix of former DoA, Ninja Gaiden and Devil's Third devs. Also not sure what Itagaki's last project was, but I think DT was his last higher profile one.

I'm one of the very few weirdos who only plays the Call of Duty games for the campaign and I actually enjoyed what Black Ops 6 delivered and looking forward to 7. We'll see what happens. I always find it interesting that, every year, there's some kind of doom and gloom around this series but it still keeps trucking along similar to Pokémon. People can argue otherwise but that's two examples of franchises that do truly seem to be 'too big to fail.'

He didn't work on Wanted: Dead but many of his former teammates did. A guy who worked with that group on Wanted made a post about it on Linkedin. He said eventhough Itagaki wasn't involved his influence was still very much part of its design.

Sad news, guy was a legend of the industry for sure, made some of my favorite games of all-time. He was a huge part of the reason the original Xbox was on my radar at all, even more than Halo, it was Dead or Alive 3 that had me interested in that console as I loved DoA 2 on Dreamcast.

Sounds better than what the reboot ended up being, but I also think they should've just ended the series after 4. It got too goofy even by Saints Row standards.

Great to have her back in the series.

I really like Silent Hill f but I don't think Townfall will be a game I can get into. I don't need tons of combat but it does need to be there to some degree for a game to be enjoyable, imo. I don't know how people get on with these games that completely lack it, but to each their own. Hope Townfall delivers for people who like that style.

Never played the series but this looks like a game I could enjoy.

Great for Sony's business but as a gamer this doesn't do much for me. I won't go as far as to say PS5 is a bad console, it's absolutely not. The hardware is good enough (also never really got to see what it's truly capable of for various reasons) and I own plenty of games for it that I've enjoyed a lot. However, while I'd categorize PS5 as a good console, it's also my least favorite PlayStation system including the PSP and Vita. Heck, if we branch out and talk about this generation as a whole, adding the Xbox series consoles into the discussion, it has been extremely disappointing. Gems here and there but gaming does lack the excitement, at least for me, that it had in previous gens, especially the 4th-7th.

Completely separate from the other games' stories so you can jump right in without worrying about that.

Picked up my copy today and also bought the Deluxe upgrade. Been looking forward to this one for a while. Haven't gotten to deep into the game yet but so far, so good. Nice to have a new Silent Hill that seems like it will be great.

Now that's a trailer. I know she was a pretty divisive character in Street Fighter 4 but I always liked her and glad she's finally making a return. New costume looks cool but throws me off a little with the cape or jacket or whatever that is flying around. The classic outfit is perfect.

I like Yakuza 3 so I'm definitely hyped for this announcement, will be a day one buy.

Overall reviews are much higher, though at the end of the day I've always thought best to just play the game if I'm interested and form my own opinion. This game could average in the 40s and I'd still get it because I'm just happy to see another mainline Silent Hill game. Looking forward to Thursday, hope I'll be able to avoid spoilers.

It has to be MGS 4. It's been stuck on PS3 for too long now when much more undeserving games got some kind of re-release. I would honestly be ok with nothing more than a graphics upgrade and a modern control scheme.

If you play a lot of games, you're going to need at least 2 TB (probably closer to 4) anyway. While it's not ideal, making the internal storage a little less is a much better choice than taking away something like backwards compatibility.

It will be. I just want to know the price to decide if I'm going to buy day one or wait for a sale.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound just released physically and I bought a copy. I'll be playing that and continuing along with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Both on PS5.

It's great that Nintendo is included on day one this time around but to me the obvious choice is still PlayStation.

Switch 2 should increase sales, especially in Japan, not sure how much different it'll make, though. SE also never seems to be pleased, that factored into my comment. I'll be interested to see what happens. Final Fantasy doesn't connect with gamers like it used to and the FF VII remakes have been divisive. That might mean even slower sales for the conclusion than expected.

Makes sense, but even as a multiplat, I still don't think overall sales will be what SquareEnix wants. The company hasn't come to terms yet with the fact the series isn't as popular as it used to be.

PlayStation ceded the Japanese market to Nintendo a long time ago. Nothing surprising here or even really interesting. If more PS IPs start going to Switch 1 and 2 and are published by Sony itself, then there's something to discuss.

I was hyped for the game, that SoP changed my mind, not in a good way. Not overly interested anymore. Will keep my eyes on the game but at the moment the only 2026 release I'm super interested in is Resident Evil Requiem.

I feel like almost every big dev/publisher was delivering more, and better, back in the day. A few are still bringing the heat, I really like what Capcom and Sega have been outputting for close to the last decade, but most are nowhere near where they used to be.

Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite top 10 favorite series of all time and both 1 and 3 occupy spaces in my top 20 overall favorite games. Peace Walker is my favorite PSP game and since this seemed like a true follow up to that, my expectations were sky high. Ultimately, while I thought the gameplay was great, I was letdown overall because the story just wasn't there. You could tell there was more Kojima wanted to do but couldn't, probably for various that also included some of his own faults. I think it would've benefitted from being a more linear experience. Not a bad game by any means but definitely on the lower end for the series.

The game seems cool from what I've seen so far, looking forward to learning a bit more about it.

Usually it's multiple games but this weekend I'm just going to focus on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (PS5).

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is my favorite game of the sixth console generation and one of my top 5 favorite games of all-time, so there was no way I was going to miss this. Like it a lot overall but Unreal Engine 5 is something that needs to stop being used.

Resident Evil 7 is one of my favorite games from last gen but I don't think it being in first person added any tension. Maybe if I played it in VR I would've felt different. Still, I've never found any RE game to be scary.

We'll agree to disagree then. It's all safe. Even the games I'm looking forward to. If they aren't remasters or sequels they're games that clearly rip off others in the genres I like and none of them have any 'bite.' The least safe of all the ones I'm hyped for is probably Silent Hill f and even that is tame compared to games I used to play in the 90s to mid-00s.

I think you give Sony far too much credit. Heck, the whole 'AAA' industry itself is a bit of a mess right now because they're all chasing that mythical 'never ending growth.' That's why everything is safe, sanitized, boring bs.
